25- El, Mike, and the 5-Year-Old Girl

Summary: Mike has to take care of Holly. He forgot to tell Eleven that.

Requested by: Boris Yeltsin

This day could not get worse.

It was a Saturday and Mike wanted to have fun.

You know, the usual hang out with friends and not care about the real scary world for a day.

But no.

Nancy was going out of town to look at colleges. His dad had a "work thing." And his mom had a "ladies' group"

At least that was what they said.

He believed Nancy, but his parents? Nah, definitely lying.

With the rest of his family out of the house, Holly and Mike would be home alone.

Holly was supposed to have a babysitter, but they couldn't make it today.

Meaning Mike had to look over his 5-year-old sister.

For the whole day.

This day could not get worse.

DING DONG!

It just got worst.

Eleven was excited for today.

Today she was going to be able to see her friends.

Ever since November, the kids had a schedule for which kid got to see El.

They often didn't follow it anymore, with everyone coming no matter the day.

But at the beginning it was super strict, so El held on to schedule like it was a lifeline. Which it was.

Saturdays had always been the day where she left the cabin, seeing all of her friends.

She was only allowed at the Byers and Steve's at first, but now she was allowed at the Wheelers, as long as the parents weren't there, which they usually weren't

So, today she was going over to Mike's first, then meeting up with her friends at Steve's later.

El walked through the woods, with a light jacket unzipped, loving the warming weather.

She reached Mike's street, pulling her hood up, and keeping her head low.

El raced-up Mike's front steps.

She rang the doorbell and eagerly waited to see her boyfriend.

Mike answered the door and just as he was expecting there was his girlfriend at the door.

"Hey!"

"Oh, hey El."

El frowned.

"Not e-expecting me?" El stumbled over the words.

"No, no!" Mike assured her, letting her in. "There's just some complications about our plans today."

"Compl-complications?"

"Yeah, problems that will affect us." Mike explained.

"Oh," El said. "So, what are the complications?"

"I have to watch Holly."

"So?"

"So?!" Mike turned to her. "I can't let a five-year-old hang out with the group!"

"Then just let her hang out with me."

"What?"

"You can hang out with the boys," El said, hearing Max say it to Lucas. "And I can look over Holly."

Before Mike could respond, Holly came running into the room asking to play Barbies.

El led him out of the room following Holly down the hall.

This was going to be interesting day.

For the next two hours, Holly and El played Barbies, unicorns, dollhouse, and colored.

Mike barely had to anything besides get snacks a couple times.

El had a smile on her face the whole time while Holly was giggling the whole time.

Later when they had to meet with the others, Max and El entertained Holly.

The guys played video games and games all day.

Neither group minded their activities.

After dinner, Holly grew tired.

El took her in the other room.

When Mike checked on them, he was not expecting what he saw.

El was holding Holly, who was fast asleep, and pacing the room softly singing a lullaby.

When El saw Mike, she gently set Holly down on the couch and crossed the room.

"Thanks." Mike told her.

"It was fun." El said. "You should spend more time together."

Mike gave a low chuckle and side hugged his girlfriend.

"I'll take the next shift then." he told her.

In the doorway, stood Steve and Dustin watching the couple who was watching the sleeping girl.

"They're going to become great parents one day." Steve remarked.

"Oh, the best." Dustin said, walking down the hallway.

AN: I hope you like it, Boris Yeltsin! Requests are open.
