El's head shot towards the door as she heard the secret knock.

She racked her brain, not remembering that anyone was coming today.

But they knew the knock. So, it was a good guy, right?

But what if it wasn't?

Still buried in her thoughts, she didn't realize that the person behind the door was calling out.

"El! You there? It's Dustin!" the voice shouted.

It sounded like Dustin, but just to be sure, El lined herself up with the door and used her powers to throw it open.

And sure enough, there was Dustin. Not a single bad men in sight.

El wiped her nose and jerked her head, indicating that he could come in.

"Sorry if I scared you." Dustin shut the door. "I was just wanted to see if you wanted to hang out."

"It's fine. Sure, we can hang out." El answered honestly.

"Sweet! Wanna play Mouse Trap or something?" Dustin asked.

El nodded and grabbed Mouse Trap off the shelf.

"Ready to get dominated?" she challenged.

After a couple hours of El dominating at Mouse Trap and Dustin crushing at Sorry, the two of them went outside.

El was glad to be outside. Hopper made a new rule that allowed her to go outside as long as someone was with her, and they stayed near the cabin.

"Tag?" El asked but heard nothing in return. She turned and saw Dustin lunging at her.

"TAG!" he yelled when he grasped her, then raced away.

El let out a surprised chuckle and started to chase the boy.

Dustin let out a laugh behind his shoulder, running faster and faster until...

He tripped.

Dustin went flying and ended up sprawled against the dry leaves, looking up at the bare trees that dropped them.

"Dustin!" El ran up to him. "You good?"

Dustin grunted. "Yeah," he wheezed out. "Yeah, just great."

El crouched down at where Dustin fell and moved some leaves around.

"There was a rock," El told him, pointing at her discovery. "That's why you tripped."

Dustin slowly moved to a sitting position. "Huh. Didn't even see it because of the leaves."

El extended a hand out to Dustin, helping him up when he grasped it.

She looked around, seeing that there were many leaves surrounding the cabin.

"We don't know what's below here," she stated, kicking at the ground. "There could be even more rocks and sticks that could make us trip."

"That's one of the reasons we rake." Dustin told her.

"Rake?"

"Yeah, basically you move the leaves around with a tool, making big piles of them. You bag them up, or you can jump in them. That's one other reason we rake." Dustin explained.

El nodded, though she still looked slightly confused.

"You've never raked before?" Dustin asked before realizing something. "Right, you live with Hopper."

"So, you move leaves into big piles?" El clarified.

Dustin nodded.

El started to push some leaves around with her powers, swirling them into a pile.

"Like that?" she asked.

Dustin just looked at her with wide eyes.

"No?"

"Yeah! Except, well, it's not as cool!" Dustin exclaimed.

El grinned, then started to do move leaves into a bigger pile, making it grow and grow.

"This is so cool!" Dustin shouted.

For the next half hour, El made stacks of leaves and the two of them jumped around in them.

But when El tried to make a pile a little while later something happened.

She reached out her hand, concentrating on moving the leaves.

But turns out when you use your powers for too long making leaf piles, you get kind of tired.

El suddenly collapsed after making a small pile.

"El!" Dustin shrieked, jogging over to her.

He carefully checked her breathing and when he heard her take a breath, he let out a sigh of relief.

"Okay, okay," Dustin muttered to himself. "She just fainted. What did your mom tell you about what to do when someone faints?"

Dustin murmured to himself some more before he finally calmed down and did what his mom told him to.

Dustin gently got El onto her back, so he could assess her more. He noticed a small scratch down her arm and a small bruise forming on her shin.

"Alright, so mom said if someone has an injury, care for it. Also make sure her breathing is good, Dustin." he reminded himself.

Dustin checked El's breathing once again and after deciding that it was all good, he looked around.

The cabin wasn't too far.

And Dustin needed to clean El's cut and ice her bruise.

But it wasn't very convenient to do it outside.

Taking a deep breath, Dustin slid his arm under the girl's shoulder blades and knees.

With one huff, he picked El up and stood.

He stumbled a little, but soon got into a comfortable position, grateful that El was light, and began the walk back to the cabin.

El groaned and slowly opened her eyes.

"You're awake!" a cheery voice said. "How do you feel?"

How'd she feel? Well, there was a slight sting on her right arm, a coldness on her ankle, and she was exhausted, but other than that, she felt fine.

She voiced this and then realized the figure besides her was Dustin.

It all came back to her. Tag, the leaves, overusing her powers.

But now, she was in the cabin.

How'd that happen?

Dustin made her sip some water and stretch a little.

"How'd I get into the cabin?" El asked, slowly standing up.

Dustin was hovering near her, making sure she was okay. "I carried you."

El looked at Dustin in surprise.

"Really? You carried me?"

"Well, yeah. I hate to break it to you, El, but we don't all have powers like you." Dustin joked.

She gave him an unexpected hug.

Dustin hesitantly returned it.

"What was that for?" he asked as the pulled apart.

"For helping me." El answered.

"Well, that's what friends are for right?" Dustin replied.

"Right."
