"Guys! Time to be done!" April's friend, Bailey's mom called.
"Mom! 15 more minutes!" Bailey called back.
"No!"
Bailey sighed, "Let me see if I can get some more time." She climbed up the stairs.
Ryder leaned back in his chair.
"Right as I was about to win." he muttered.
"Yeah, right." Jacob protested. "You rolled a 4."
"Details." Ryder said with a shrug.
Jacob rolled his eyes.
Bailey came back down with a disappointed look. "Sorry guys, time to pack up."
Everybody nodded and started to leave.
The boys raced ahead on their scooter and skateboard.
April mounted on her bike. "See you tomorrow?"
"You know it." Bailey told her.
April smiled and rode away.
Bailey's garage lights started to flicker, but she paid no attention to it.
April caught up to the two boys.
"See you guys later!" Jacob called and skated down the street to his house.
"Bye!" Ryder and April said.
"Race you?" Ryder asked.
"On a scooter?" April asked.
"Heck yeah." Ryder said.
April rolled her eyes and speeded up, completely and utterly beating Ryder.
"You jerk!" Ryder shouted.
"See you tomorrow, dork!" April shouted, turning the corner on a shortcut to her house.
April pedaled down the road and just as she came out of the shortcut it happened.
Things became disoriented and suddenly she was pulled into a glowing hole in the ground. By what, she didn't know. But it took her bike, her backpack, and her down with it.
April felt a pain in her arm as she got pulled through and landed in an uncomfortable position pinned under her bike.
There were suddenly headlights and squealing of tires.
April flinched and squeezed her eyes shut.
Oh gosh, she was about to get run over.
Hopper sighed and ran a hand over his face.
This was definitely the strangest week of his life.
He'd left Joyce and Will at the hospital and was headed home.
That is, until the was a bike laying on the road. With a person under it.
Hopper cursed underneath his breath and slammed on the brakes.
He quickly got out and saw that he was an inch away from hitting the girl.
Hopper bent down and carefully pulled the bike off of the girl.
"Hey. Can you hear me?"
The girl groaned.
"Can you hear me?" Hopper repeated.
The girl opened her eyes. "What happened?" she rasped out.
"Well, I almost hit you." Hopper told her. "You came out of nowhere. What's your name?"
"April." she told him. "What's your name?"
"Jim. But everyone calls me Hopper." Hopper said. "Does anything hurt? Your head?"
"Not my head. But my left arm does."
"Okay, just in case I'm going to ask you a couple questions. Sound good?" Hopper asked.
April gave a slight nod.
"Where are we?"
"Hawkins Indiana."
"Where do you live?"
"274 Beeston Drive."
Hopper wrinkled his brow; he didn't know the Murphy's had a girl.
"What year is it?"
"2019."
Hopper stopped. 2019? Not even close.
"Kid, it's not 2019." Hopper told April.
April's eyes sprung open.
"What? What year is it then?"
"1983."
April raised her eyebrows at him. "You've got to be joking."
Hopper shook his head.
"It's 2019, grab my phone."
Hopper tilted his head.
"In my backpack, the front pocket." April told him.
Hopper grabbed her backpack and pulled out a rectangular device.
He pushed a button and one of the sides lit up with a picture of a dragon. There was the time, which was 4 minutes late and the date. May 16th, 2019.
What the crap?
April tried moving her arm but winced in pain.
"Can you take me to the doctor?" she asked.
Hopper didn't know what doctor could handle the fact that a girl thought it was 2019 and had a device that backed her up.
Except one.
"So doc? What's the verdict?" Hopper asked.
"She's definitely from the future." Dr. Owens told him.
Hopper could have screamed.
"Okay, wait. What?" Hopper closed his eyes.
"I said she's from the future." Dr Owens repeated.
"So, what do we do about it?" Hopper asked.
"Well, I suggest we hide her, see what comes up in about a year, see if we can come up with a way to get her back. Because it definitely has something to do with the Upside Down." Dr. Owens explained.
"We're just going to hide that girl for a year? That's insane!" Hopper exclaimed.
"Well, sort of." Dr. Owens shrugged. "She'll need some human interaction. That's why she'll be staying with you."
If Hopper hadn't exploded at Dr. Owens at that moment, they would have heard the gasp from down the hall.
April peaked around a corner, eavesdropping the two adult's conversation.
And she couldn't believe what she was hearing.
April was going to hide in 1983 waiting to get transported back to the future.
Nothing could get stranger.
