66- Erica's Boyfriend Finds the Truth
Summary: Gerry finds out about the Upside Down. Then gets yelled at by Hopper because he told his priest about it. But he has good reasons.
Requested by: Boris Yeltsin
Erica finished her Cola with one chug.
"How can you drink that?" her boyfriend, Gerry asked.
Erica shrugged and returned the question when he took a sip of his Irish Cider.
They were on the hill that Dustin called Suzie on. Both sat on a checkered blanket with a basket in between them. It was very much like the cheesy romance movie that Erica's mom made her watch.
The couple in the movie had eaten lunch, laughed, and... kissed.
Erica and Gerry had done all but one.
Erica looked towards Gerry, who was stuffing Cheez-Its in his mouth.
Erica grinned at his antics.
He turned and saw Erica staring at him.
"What?" he asked, though it was muffled due to the Cheez-Its.
"What?" he asked again. "Why are you staring at me like that?"
Erica said nothing and started to lean in slowly. Her heart fluttered when Gerry started to do the same.
They got closer.
And closer.
And closer.
Until...
The ground started to shake slightly.
Erica jerked back and frantically started to look around.
"Did you feel that?" she whispered.
"It's probably someone blasting their speakers." Gerry told her.
Erica placed her hands on the ground. She felt the ground shake.
She look up at Gerry.
"We need to go." Erica said sternly. "Now."
By this time Gerry felt the shaking of the ground too and nodded.
"Alright. Let me pack up real quick."
"No! We need to go now!" Erica screamed at him.
Then, it happened.
The ground slightly opened up and revealed an orange, gooey substance with vines covering it.
"What is that?" Gerry asked, leaning forward to observe.
"Don't question it, just run!" Erica yelled at him and took off.
Gerry quickly followed Erica running as fast as you can.
"Run faster!" Erica shouted over her shoulder.
Gerry sped up and followed Erica down the road, not really sure where they were going.
Soon, they turned down a road and Gerry realized that Erica was leading him to Steve Harrington's house.
Erica raced up the driveway, heart pounding, and slammed her hand on the door.
"Come on, come on!" she screamed at the door.
Gerry stayed farther back, trying to catch his breath.
"Hello? Erica! What's going on?" Dustin Henderson answered the door.
"Code black. Upside Down... gate... hill." Erica panted.
A girl with curly brown hair appeared behind Dustin.
"What's happening with the Upside Down?" she asked.
Before Erica could answer though, there was a growl.
Then, a dog-looking creature came out of nowhere and opened its flowered face and screeched like there was no tomorrow.
Maybe there wouldn't be.
Gerry had never been more freaked out.
What in the world was that thing?
How were they going to defend themselves?
Well, turns out that they did have someone to defend them.
The curly hair girl.
She ran out of the door, thrust her hand towards the monster, and it went flying back.
"What the bloody-" Gerry exclaimed but didn't get the chance to finish because of Erica who pulled him into the house, pushed him into a room and told him to stay.
He heard hushed whispers of a plan, several footsteps, and finally the front door slamming shut.
Erica then appeared in the doorway.
"We need to talk."
"So- so, you're saying that there is a literal dimension underneath us right now?"
Gerry was standing while Erica was sitting in Steve's home office.
Erica gave a single nod.
"Oh, go way outta that!" Gerry exclaimed.
Erica frowned. "Look, I know that it's hard to believe but you saw the proof. The vines and the demogorgon? Those are from the Upside Down." Erica told him.
Gerry started pacing.
"My girlfriend has a friend that has superpowers, there is another dimension, and there's regular battles against it. Great, great. This is my life now." Gerry muttered to himself.
"Gerry. Gerry!" Erica stepped in front of him, stopping his pacing.
"Talk to me. Whatever's going on in that brain of yours, talk to me." she pleaded.
Gerry sighed and flopped down in a chair.
"How'd you deal with it?" he finally asked.
Erica huffed out a laugh. "Of course, you ask a tough question first. Well, when it happens, it's just kind of like a fight to survive thing. Afterwards, we talk about it, make the best of it, and try to move forward. There's hangouts, where we cry, laugh, and try to figure out how to get through stuff."
Gerry ran a hand down his face.
"Hey," Erica crouched down to be level with him. "It's okay. Whatever happens we'll be okay."
Gerry nodded and pulled Erica into a hug.
"Alright," he said into her hair. "I believe you."
AN: Hope you liked it, Boris Yeltsin! "Go way outta that" means that he doesn't believe what's going on, just so you know. Happy Birthday to Will Byers a day late! Requests are open!
