Chapter Twelve
"Two and a half hours in and still going strong!" Chef Hatchet proclaimed happily from the beach, Chris McLean sitting next to him on his phone looking quite bored as the remaining six contestants suffered on their current challenge, standing on the poles in the middle of Lake Wawanakwa.
"Eww! Don't encourage them!" Chris responded angrily, gesturing towards the contestants.
"Sorry…" Chef held his hands up apologetically. "Just remember that no one lives forever!" He then shouted towards the contestants.
"Better!" Chris smiled, before his interest got taken in by a weather report coming in on his phone. "Oh! There's a heat advisory today." He smirked evilly towards Chef.
"That's not good…"
"Says to drink plenty of water and seek shade." Chris continued, Chef nodding his head, muttering "Smart advice" to himself.
Up on the poles, Millie was already beginning to feel the pressure of the challenge sink in, looking over to Priya on the next pole, she began to speak.
"At the next reward I think I'm totally gonna bow out…" She said, looking down anxiously at the water below.
"No you can't!" Priya glared at Millie.
"But it's getting hot, and this is hard…" Millie complained.
"It's supposed to be hard, that's why it's called a challenge." Priya responded, still glaring at her ally.
"Will you two shut up, I'm trying to concentrate here!" Julia shouted over to them from her own pole, Chase nodding in agreement.
"Hate to side with her on this one, but she's right, no one wants to hear your complaining, if you're gonna drop out, do it now." Bowie said, earning a small glare from all of the girls, including Emma, who was just starting to get extremely irritated from being starved for the challenge.
Back on the beach, Chris was getting extremely bored, looking at his phone, he once again looked at the video of Lauren and Axel's fight from the other day. Remembering what he was going to do about the whole Ezekiel situation, he turned to Chef once more, "Chef, is my Jet Ski ready yet?"
"You're going now? In the middle of the challenge?" Chef questioned him, raising an eyebrow in surprise.
"Relax, I'm sure you can hold the fort for an hour while I see to our unwanted guest at the loser's resort." Chris responded, grinning evilly towards Chef.
"Chris man, please for the love of god do NOT antagonise them too much." Chef warned the host, glaring daggers at him.
"Relax Chef, I'm not gonna hurt them too much, I just need to see to this for myself, given all the trouble those two are causing me." Chris dismissed him, walking away from the challenge and towards the Dock of Shame, where his vehicle was already prepped for him.
Chef sighed, taking Chris's place on the chair and continued watching the progression of the challenge without the host.
Back up on the poles, Julia noticed the conversations end, hearing Chef's warning to Chris about the resort before the host promptly left. When the others noticed him leaving, they all had a concerned look on their faces, each of them thinking of different punishments that Chris could be readying to inflict on them.
All of this came to an end when Julia began shouting down towards Chef, "So why has he left exactly!"
"I can't tell you! Only that there's a situation that he's gone to deal with, he'll be back soon!" Chef shouted back.
"Oh! Is this about the stowaway at the resort with all the buttknuckles who got kicked off!" Julia revealed, smirking deviously.
Both Millie's and Chef's eyes widened, immediately clocking onto the situation due to having already discovered it, whilst the other four contestants looked confused. In Priya's case, forgetting about it due to her increasing exhaustion while Bowie, Emma and Chase's was due to not knowing about any of the events that were occurring at the Playa Des Losers.
"How do you know about that!" Chef demanded, looking both angry and concerned.
"Julia, what are you talking about? What stowaway?" Bowie questioned her, beginning to feel a bit anxious that his boyfriend Raj might be in trouble.
"Oh it's nothing, just that a certain feral contestant is on the loose where everyone else is." She grinned at Bowie in particular. "And said person is getting real close to a certain Scary Girl, just imagine what sort of terror those two are inflicting on poor Raj and the others…" She continued, pretending to be really worried for the others, only to start grinning maliciously when Bowie's back was turned, the man in question hiding how scared he was for Raj.
"Julia…" Chef's eyes narrowed towards the influencer.
"You can't be serious?" Emma questioned, glaring angrily at Julia, thinking this was just a set up to throw everyone off guard.
"Millie? Priya? Care to back me up on this one." Julia smiled towards the two in question, the three contestants who hadn't seen the video looking towards them.
"It's true…" Priya conceded, hanging her head down in exhaustion. Millie nodded in agreement, although she looked apprehensive in doing so.
"Chef what exactly is going on over there?" Bowie shouted down to Chef, who grimaced, wondering if he should break the full story to them now that Julia had revealed it to everyone.
Realising that it would be better to hear it from him rather than someone like Chris who would no doubt try to exploit the situation for more drama, he began to explain to all six contestants the full story of what had happened since Lauren's elimination several days ago, giving as much detail as he knew about the situation, trying to desperately calm them down without compromising the whole challenge, knowing that Chris would be more pissed off if the challenge was called off.
Meanwhile at the Playa Des Losers, contrary to what Bowie was thinking, Raj was completely fine with Ezekiel. All seven males currently at the resort sitting in the lounge area after Zee suggested they all hang out together. The girls being left to their own devices, Axel and Nichelle training in the gym, while MK and Lauren were nowhere to be seen.
"And that's the story of how I lost my leg…" Zee finished explaining his story. His prosthetic leg being on full display to the others, Ezekiel and Caleb in particular being interested in his story due to not previously knowing about Zee's lack of leg.
"This story gets better every time he says it eh? Don't you think Rajie?" Wayne asked Raj, elbowing him with a large grin on his face.
"Totally!" Raj responded, smiling back at his best friend.
"Hey Damien, don't you think it's a little different from the last time he told this?" Ripper whispered to Damien.
"Now that you mention it? Do you think he's lying about it?" Damien whispered back.
"I don't know, maybe?"
"What're we talking about guys?" Zee whispered to both of them, leaning over both their shoulders, a can of soda in his hand.
"Nothing!" Damien quickly responded, drawing some confused looks from the others not privy to the conversation.
"I just can't believe you'd attempt something that dangerous." Caleb said to Zee.
"I mean, Chris made us do much w-worse eh." Ezekiel responded, remembering the Cliff Dive from his first season and the various challenges he'd been a part of since his elimination in Egypt.
"Yeah, but this is a TV show ran by a sadist and you were forced into your situation. What Zee did was just stupid."
"I still don't get why you'd do something like bungee jump into a pool of piranhas?" Damien questioned him.
"Hey don't knock it until you try it man." Zee responded casually, taking another drink of his soda.
"If it helps I d-did worse during my second season eh." Ezekiel responded.
"Worse than that?" Damien said in disbelief.
"Does crossing the Nile full of c-crocodiles in a small boat made of w-weeds count?"
"Man that sounds messed up." Damien shuddered.
"Then there was being h-hunted in Africa by the others, and when I fell into the v-volcano in Hawaii." Ezekiel kept going.
"Wait, What?" Damien shouted. "How are you still alive? It shouldn't be scientifically possible?"
Ezekiel shrugged in response, not knowing himself. The rest of the guys shared a few concerned glances, except for Ripper who seemed amused.
"Dude that is Hardcore" He said excitedly.
"I know right, beats my story." Zee nodded in agreement, taking another drink.
"Dude are you ever gonna share one of those?" Ripper asked him, to which Zee just shrugged, somehow fishing out another can out of nowhere and tossing it over to Ripper.
"Anyone else want one?" Zee asked the others.
Wayne and Raj gleefully accepted some soda, whilst Caleb and Damien respectfully declined, Ezekiel was a little more on the fence, eventually accepting due to the fact that he hadn't had anything like it since before the start of the third season, finishing the can in seconds.
"Got anymore eh?" Ezekiel asked Zee.
"Sure man, knock yourself out." Zee replied happily, tossing Ezekiel another can of soda.
"Why w-would I do that?" Ezekiel said confused, eyes narrowed slightly.
"Dude, it's a figure of speech, he doesn't mean it literally." Caleb responded, placing a hand on Ezekiel's shoulder.
"Oh…" Ezekiel muttered to himself.
"If you're giving out extras pass me some more! I wanna break my world record!" Ripper asked excitedly.
"NO!" Everyone else screamed, apart from Zee and Ezekiel, the latter looking confused.
"Anything but that." Damien shouted in horror.
"What's the matter nerd, can't handle how epic my record actually is." Ripper boasted.
"No dude, it's disgusting! I don't know how you think it's funny at all." Damien replied.
"I mean, it's kinda impressive when you think about it…" Wayne pondered.
"It really isn't…" Caleb muttered.
"Sounds like s-something Owen would've done." Ezekiel added.
"Who do you think I just took the record off of, man's a champion but I'm even better!" Ripper continued to brag about his new world record.
"I honestly don't know how he can be bragging about it, it's so stupid." Damien said quietly to Caleb.
"Just let him have it, at least it's the only thing he won on this show." Caleb responded.
"Yo Zeke man, you stayed here before right?" Zee suddenly asked him, gaining the attention of the others.
"Uh, y-yeah…" Ezekiel slowly responded.
"Got any stories from back then? You've heard a lot of ours but most of us know nothing about yours." Zee said.
"Well, n-nothing from competing, I was the f-first one out in my seasons…" Ezekiel replied, looking slightly downcast at mentioning his early eliminations.
"You must have some stories from being here though right?" Zee asked, to which Ezekiel slowly nodded in response.
"Dude you've gotta tell us some of them, from what we've seen of your seasons the people you competed with sounded awesome!" Wayne shouted, sounding excited to hear about the original cast, Raj nodding along in agreement.
Ezekiel sighed quietly, thinking to himself for a moment. It had been such a long time since he'd really thought about his original time at the Playa Des Losers back in season one. Whenever his thoughts drifted to the past it was usually about one of the many mistakes from World Tour onwards that had led to his isolation on Boney Island, at least until Lauren had found him.
As if a lightbulb just lit over his head in realisation, Ezekiel remembered another crazy girl he used to hang around a lot with, Izzy. He remembered back when she'd first been eliminated, how she immediately changed the atmosphere around the Playa Des Losers after her arrival (once the RCMP had left of course), back when there was conflict or disinterest between all six of the prior contestants.
Eva hated everyone there, Noah didn't really talk to anyone, Justin was too busy admiring himself to talk to anyone, Katie was too busy crying over being separated from her best friend, and Tyler was still traumatised from the Phobia Challenge at the time of Izzy's first elimination.
At the time they were also all still mad about the sexist comments he'd made prior to his own elimination, which didn't really help things. Looking back he really didn't know any better, his sheltered upbringing on the farm, combined with being homeschooled his whole life had really messed up his social skills, but at the time nobody wanted to believe him, therefore he spent the first couple weeks of the season completely alone.
When Izzy turned up to the Playa for the first time everything had changed, she had casually laughed off the same comments that pissed everyone else off, and spent her time at the resort bouncing around from person to person, her antics causing a variety of different responses. In Ezekiel's case, he was happy to actually have a friend at the resort, so he really didn't mind if she had occasionally gotten too hyper and accidentally injured him, at least it was someone who cared.
Ezekiel began to explain some of the stories at the Playa involving Izzy, to varying degrees of interest from the others. Wayne, Raj and Zee were completely invested, whilst Damien sounded horrified at the things the Crazy Girl had gotten Ezekiel involved in, reminding him a little too much of the Scary Girl currently at the resort. Ripper and Caleb were listening with some interest, but unlike the others stayed mostly silent, the exception being Ripper occasionally throwing jabs towards some of the contestants Ezekiel brought up.
Unbeknownst to the guys in the lobby, another figure was listening into the conversation for sometime, seeing how happy their closest friend was actually being able to talk to the others without being shunned, Lauren smiled slightly and left the room from the corner she was hiding behind, content that he was going to be just fine without her constantly being around.
*Minutes Later*
After having left Ezekiel behind with the others, content that he was making friends with the others, Lauren had decided to relax by herself outside the resort. She had collected her skull from her room, having finally collected it from Ezekiel's room after their 'incident' the other day, and was busy touching up some of the makeup that had begun to fade slightly.
Looking back at that she really started to wonder where this was going between the two of them, before the competition she prided herself in being disassociated from everyone around her, the circus who'd taken her in being the exceptions after she'd ran away from her parents. But ever since her elimination and subsequent adventure on Boney Island, she felt different?
A small part of her wanted to believe otherwise, that Ezekiel was just a means to an end while she was stuck there. But over the small time she'd known him she'd really grown to appreciate her now closest friend, somebody who didn't seem to care at all if she got a bit 'carried away' with her scares, and if anything seemed to go along with it for the most part.
But then his second nightmare had happened, she'd comforted him like before but… something had changed.
When Wayne and Raj had interrupted them she'd felt uncharacteristically angry at them, if only for a moment. She thought back to when they'd barged into Ezekiel's room, quickly realising what the issue was.
Ezekiel smiled back at her, feeling somewhat better, the two stayed close to each other for what felt like an eternity, unknowingly slowly inching closer and closer to each other as the moment dragged on.
Said moment quickly being disrupted when the door to the room was slammed open, a worried duo of Wayne and Raj bursting into the room.
"Zeke bro, are you…" They stopped mid-sentence, noticing how close Lauren and Ezekiel were to each other.
"Oh, sorry guys, didn't realise we interrupted your make out session." Wayne smiled apologetically, closing his eyes and rubbing the back of his head sheepishly.
"Um, Wayne…" Raj's voice cut in with slight concern.
"Yeah Rajie?" He responded.
"We'd better run." Raj said nervously, noticing Lauren's head tilting almost 180 degrees to look at them, her eye twitching dangerously and her smile looking completely deranged. Ezekiel just looked on, completely confused as to what was happening.
"What?" Wayne questioned, opening his eyes to see Lauren's deranged expression. "Oh, right… Yeah…" He said anxiously, finally realising what they'd unintentionally brought on themselves, before the pair turned and ran out of the room screaming.
Lauren quickly leaped off of the bed, heading tilting back into its natural position. She grabbed a nearby pole and snapped it in two, leaving one end completely jagged, before proceeding to chase after the Hockey Bros whilst laughing dementedly.
Lauren gasped in shock, did she like Ezekiel? Was that why she'd briefly snapped when the Hockey Duo had shown up when they did, they seemed to think so at least.
It did also explain a lot of things about herself lately, like why did she care so much about what Axel did to him? If it were anyone else she was sure that she'd have encouraged violence between the two, not actively get in the way, after all she loved seeing people get hurt, she gets giddy when blood is mentioned, and most importantly she loved hearing people scream.
So why was it so different with him?
As Lauren pondered on these thoughts, she failed to notice a jet ski parking up near the docks, a figure quickly climbing off it before storming towards the resort's entrance. They quickly spotted Lauren sitting by herself, marching up to her with an angry look on their face.
"Well well well, if it isn't the source of all my current problems." Chris McLean said to her as he approached, Lauren quickly snapping out of her musing to glare back at him.
"What are you doing here?" She replied icily, her crazy smile quickly appearing on her face.
"Well I heard from Chef that a certain 'Scary Girl' had gone off on their own, and brought back a certain Feral Freakshow to the island!" Chris said through gritted teeth, before smiling.
"But I can see what's happening here, I've heard everything and I've seen that video of your fight with Axel, some interesting dramas happened here so I can forgive this for the most part…" He trailed off.
"You want to talk to him don't you…" Lauren guessed, glaring daggers at the host.
"Exactly… as much as I don't want to, I want to see for myself if the obnoxious brat is starting to come around." Chris said arrogantly, throwing shade at Ezekiel's human personality, as he moved to enter the resort, Lauren trailing behind.
"He's not going to like this…" She shouted at him, the host briefly turning around to grin mockingly at her, before continuing into the resort.
"Wow I can't believe some of the shit you guys went through…" Ripper said in awe.
"What is it with this show and crazy girls anyway? I thought Lauren was the only one?" Damien questioned, shuddering.
"I know r-right!" Ezekiel laughed slightly, "But that's why she's so fun to be around eh!"
"I wouldn't say fun exactly, she did try to kill me…" Damien muttered to himself.
"I mean she wouldn't be the first person to attempt that…" Caleb responded, before listing several contestants off. "Courtney, Mal, Scarlett, even Zeke here."
Ezekiel just rubbed his head sheepishly, but before he could respond another voice cut in, "Yeah, I know that last one really well…"
Everyone's heads whipped around to see Chris McLean storm into the lobby, an irritated Lauren trailing behind him, still glaring daggers at the host's back. Her eyes briefly softened when they met Ezekiel's, already knowing what was about to happen.
The other guys looked confused about Chris's presence, only to be alarmed when they heard growling from Ezekiel, his eyes narrowed in pure rage.
Ezekiel let out a huge scream of anger, launching himself towards Chris, only barely being held back by Caleb and Wayne.
"You…" Ezekiel growled, claws swiping desperately, trying to escape the grip of the others in order to attack the grinning host.
"Nice to see you too Ezekiel." Chris mocked, "I'm gonna be honest, I thought you were dead after the island sunk, not that we bothered looking for you." He laughed to himself.
"Wait you knew he was missing and didn't even try to find him, that is messed up." Damien said.
"Yep, although if you ask me he brought it on himself, he was the one who refused to quit MY show when I made it clear he wasn't welcome. Something he still seems to ignore even after several years." Chris continued, narrowing his eyes at the Feral Homeschooler.
"You u-used me… my c-condition… for your own t-twisted games…" Ezekiel stuttered out, still trying to break free.
"Which could've been avoided if you didn't keep sneaking back onto the plane." Chris dismissed him.
"You could've at least treated his condition after you found him in London." Caleb argued.
"And waste the potential drama this caused, I don't think so. Ezekiel was more of an asset when he was feral than as a contestant, I wasn't going to waste it, besides we had a deal back then and he failed to meet up to expectations." Chris responded, shrugging his shoulders at Ezekiel's failure in London. "Besides, it wasn't like I was gonna let him back in anyway…"
Ezekiel's eyes widened, "What?" He questioned.
"I never wanted you back on the show, I only would've allowed it if there was no other choice, but since we also found Duncan during that challenge, I didn't need you!" Chris explained, grinning sadistically at Ezekiel, receiving glares from almost everyone else in the room.
"So you just let him suffer like this for no reason!" Lauren said slowly, walking up to Chris with a sadistic grin of her own. "Even I wouldn't go so low as what you did to him." She growled out, glaring at the host maliciously.
Chris returned her glare, "And it would've been swept under the carpet if it wasn't for you! Bringing him back onto MY show!" He shouted at Lauren.
"And what! You just wanted to leave him stuck on that island for the rest of his life!" She shouted back at him.
"After all of the problems he caused me in All Stars, absolutely." He smirked evilly as everyone gasped.
"Dude, that is so unnecessarily harsh." Zee commented, everyone else nodding along in agreement.
"He tried to kill me!" Chris argued.
"If there's anyone here who deserves it it's you!" Lauren responded angrily, beginning to walk up towards the host.
"Come on coach, just leave the poor guy alone, hasn't he been through enough?" Wayne pleaded with Chris, just wanting the conflict to end before things escalated too drastically.
"Listen to him, you have a show to run don't you, so just run on back to your little island and forget about torturing him, or else I'll make you suffer…" Lauren said slowly, clearly enjoying watching Chris squirm under her gaze.
He stared back at her in slight fear, knowing that if anyone here would go through with their threat of harming him it would be 'Scary Girl', so he made the wise decision to back away from the others.
"Okay okay, I can see this is getting a bit too personal. So fine, he can stay…" Chris conceded, before pointing at Lauren. "But this is YOUR responsibility Scary Girl, so YOU better make sure he doesn't do anything to compromise MY show any further, otherwise you'll find that circus of yours getting sued." He threatened the Scary Girl.
Lauren's eyes hardened slightly at the threat Chris made to her home, however she smirked confidently, "He'll be just fine, don't worry…" She replied, grin reaching from ear to ear.
Chris just smiled once more, mocking the pair, before making his leave from the resort and heading back to Camp Wawanakwa to continue the challenge. Ezekiel glared at the door where Chris exited, even as Caleb and Wayne finally let go of him, the pair satisfied that no fights would break out.
"What an asshole." Ripper scoffed, the others agreeing with him for a change.
Damien looked over towards the duo of Lauren and Ezekiel, the pair both glaring at the spot where Chris was last spotted. He could understand their position in all of this, and he finally saw what the others were on about in regards to the host, he was an absolute psychopath.
End Chapter
