It's crazy (that someone could change me)

Helga walked through the door of her house having just finished up her second detention of four. She braced herself as she entered the house. She was not looking forward to more Olga 2.0 and her bonding schemes.

"Baby sister! You're home!'

"Yeah. That's what it looks like." Helga closed the door after her, cocking her brow. 'What does Olga have up her sleeve now?'

"Well, I have a surprise for you!" Olga said. Helga folded her arms across her chest.

"You, Mommy, and I are going to have a girls' night! I arranged for Daddy to have dinner with a couple of his friends so he'll be out for a few hours. That means all three of us can get together and spend time together! Isn't that great?"

"As great as a rabies shot, sure."

"Oh Baby Sister. You're so funny. Quick, go upstairs and change into some comfortable clothes. We're having a movie marathon first!"

"Don't I get a say in this? Criminy, I have homework, Olga."

"Oh! Well, you can do it now and as soon as you're finished we can start!"

"Yay," Helga said sarcastically.

Helga headed up the stairs and unpacked her schoolwork. In truth, she did have some of her schoolwork done but not the other half. It likely wouldn't take her too long to finish the rest.

She couldn't believe her luck. A Girls' night with Olga and Miriam? Oh criminy. She'd rather drink bleach and get a root canal.

"Helga? Do you need any help with your homework?" 'Criminy, no.' Helga thought to herself.

"No, I think I got it, Olga."

"Okay! Well, I'm here if you need me, baby sister!"

Helga rolled her eyes and started on her history homework. She didn't need Olga's help answering a couple of questions and reading the text.

Helga felt like she was on a cloud. She felt light, airy, and free. Like if her feet weren't holding her down she could float away.

Is this how those models on the cover of Pre-Teen Miss felt? Those stick-thin Barbies who barely ate a grape? It hit Helga that she and those models truly did have something in common.

She wondered briefly if those models felt the need to feel airy too. If they ever felt like they didn't want to eat because they didn't like themselves either.

"Helga!"

"What?"

"Have you finished your homework yet, Baby Sister? Mommy wants to know because she's going to order pizza for us. It's going to be so yummy!'

"Almost finished. Give me 10 minutes."

"That's perfect. I'll tell her to order it and by the time it arrives you'll be able to eat after finishing your homework."

"Yeah, yeah."

Helga's stomach lurched at the idea of pizza. The last thing she wanted was to eat.

Much less spend time with her dysfunctional family. God, she couldn't wait for Olga to leave and then all of this madness could stop. She knew she should be glad to spend more time with her sister while she was in town and with Miriam but- she just couldn't find it in her to celebrate or be in a good mood when she thought of the two.

She was never in a good mood when she thought of Bob. He was a massive headache to her. And she was sure if he knew she existed, he'd think the same as well. Criminy!

Helga groaned and placed her head in her hands, determined not to think about her perfect boyfriend and his family. She had to stop or it would make her crazy. She knew she shouldn't compare herself to him but she found it difficult not to. It was hard to not compare when she thought about how great of a person he was and how easygoing he always was. Not to mention his patience with her when she was being tough.

He always knew how to handle her. She sighed, closing her eyes.

i'Oh Arnold, even when you're not with me, you always find a way to be on my mind.' /iShe thought as she reached out to close her books. She took off her jacket and replaced it with a blanket, still cold.

She closed her history book and packed up her homework clearly done with it for now. She might as well get this "girl's night" fiasco over with and pray that Miriam or Olga's top-notch minds didn't burn down the house. She could just picture it now.

"Baby sister?!"

Oh for the love of - "What?"

"Are you finished yet?"

"Yes, criminy, just finished Olga. You'd know that if you gave me time to-"

"That's wonderful. Now we can start!"

"-tell you." Helga finished annoyed. She almost told the older blonde to shove off and slam the door in her face.

Almost.

"Yeah, yeah, hold your horses. Criminy." She complained as Olga dragged her out of the room.

"We'll do face masks, paint each other's nails, and watch movies. How fun is that?"

"About as fun as a rainy day," Helga muttered under her breath.

"Silly, you'll have the time of your life. And I'll even do your hair! After we can take a photo and send it to your little boyfriend! I'm sure he'll like that."

Helga's eyes widened. "No! Absolutely not."

Olga giggled, not fighting her sister for how adorable she and her little boyfriend were.

For the second time that day, Helga groaned, 'I can't believe I am doing this.' She sat on the couch as she watched Miriam come into the room. "Girls! Are you ready? We're going to have so much fun!" Olga practically beamed jumping up and down and hugging her mom, "It's been so long since we had one of these all together, Mommy."

'Aren't you a little old to be calling Miriam mommy?' Helga thought as she crossed her arms, tightening her hold on her blanket. She scowled as the two twirled around with Miriam stopping to play music. "We are women hear us ROAR"

"Oh, you've got to be kidding me." Helga scowled. She stared as the two started doing high kicks. "Is anyone going to put the TV on?" She asked loudly.

She rolled her eyes, found the remote, and turned on the Wrestlemania match hopeful to drown out the sight of her older sister and mother doing high kicks.

"Uh uh uh, Baby sister! Come on, join us!" Olga came into her line of vision lifting one arm, and Miriam lifted the other.

"C'mon Helga. Have fun! It's girls night!" The two started to move in a circle, pulling Helga off the couch as they twirled around to the ABBA soundtrack that was now playing in the background.

Helga truly wished she could fly away.

"Oh don't be such a grouch, Helga. Smile at the camera for Mommy." Helga bared her teeth and pulled away from Olga's prodding hands. Olga had her sitting on the floor as she sat in the recliner playing with Helga's hair.

Helga wished she could text Arnold.

"We should send it to Arnold so he can see how pretty little sister looks. He'll love it."

Helga snapped. "You touch me and I will break your hands off." She reached around to look at her Mom. "And I'll break that camera too."

The duo looked at her and laughed. "Oh, Helga you're so funny. You get your humor from me, y'know, "Miraim laughed at her daughter's silly antics.

Helga growled and folded her arms tightly around her chest. For the first time in a long time, she was actually excited for the pizza to come to get those two off her back. She couldn't take these clowns a second longer. Threatening to send Arnold a photo of Olga messing with her hair? Too far.

She muttered to herself as Olga resumed playing with her hair insisting she was going to make a pretty braid or something. She rambled on and on about her stupid child psychology classes and the importance of bonding pre-adolescent. And something about your first love. It was really all it took for Helga to not blow a gasket when she heard the doorbell ring.

She practically ran out of the living room like it was on fire when Miriam opened the door for the pizza. She was momentarily surprised when Olga reached over and dragged her to the living room insisting the girl eat with her family.

"Parental and sibling bonding is very important, Helga." She reminded the girl as she wrapped her arm around her shoulders. Miriam sat the pizza box on the coffee table.

"Helga, you first." Miriam smiled at the girl. If it wasn't for the fact that Helga wanted to rip both her and Olga's faces off for the torment they put her through mere minutes ago, she would have actually enjoyed herself.

And if it was a few weeks ago, maybe even the pizza itself.

"Uh. Thanks." Helga grimaced taking the smallest slice she could find. Unluckily for her, the pizza was cut in equal parts and there wasn't a small slice to be seen or had. Her hands started to tremble randomly it felt like. She was nervous.

Uneasy.

She took a gulp and tried to remember her deep breathing exercise for when she felt anxious. The weight of the pizza felt twice as heavy and her face felt hot.

Standing up she stumbled slightly, announcing her need to leave the room.

Her vision swarmed and she walked up the stairs carefully. Breathing slowly she made her way up the stairs. She felt like she was going to combust. Dropping her blanket, she slowly walked into the bathroom and closed the door with a resounding click.

Laying on the floor, the coolest part of the room, she sighed in relief. Was this how it was going to be eaten every time she went near food? Sighing she turned to her side and folded her arms under her knees.

So much for a fun girl's night in.

"Helga? Are you in there?" She heard Olga's voice outside of the bathroom door.

Helga moved her head, careful not to lift it completely off the cool tile. "What?"

"Are you okay, baby sister?"

Helga sighed and fanned out on the floor. "I'm not feeling well. I think you and Miriam should enjoy the rest of your night."

"What? You're not feeling well?! Do you feel hot?"

"Yes. Now, please, Olga. Let me just lay here. I'm sure I'll feel better in a little while. I just need to rest."

"The thermometer is in there. I can't reach it because the door's locked. You could have a fever!" Olga announced. Helga rolled her eyes. She didn't have a fever but she was probably just overwhelmed. Some rest would do her some good.

Helga got up slowly, not willing to chance Olga having another breakdown because she couldn't get through the door to help her "baby sister".

She took a breath as she rose, carefully making her way to the door.

"You dropped this, baby sister. Are you sure you're okay?" Olga asked worriedly holding out the blanket in front of Helga.

When the girl didn't respond right away Olga leaned over and hugged Helga. "I love you, baby sister. If you're not feeling well you can tell me."

Olga sighed as she heard Helga's denial that anything was wrong. "Do you want to head back downstairs? You can finish your pizza."

"That's okay. I'm not really feeling that well. I want to lie down."

"Are you sure that's all?"

Helga broke out of her grasp. "Yes, Olga. Everything is fine. I just need to lie down and rest. I've had a long day and the "party" you and Miriam threw is wearing me out."

"Well if you're sure Helga. I'll tell Mommy you're not feeling well." Olga looked down at her feet, tears in her eyes. 'That's not manipulative at all.' Helga thought, watching her sister's eyes practically shimmer.

Helga sighed. "I guess if we watch the movie while I'm lying down, I'll be okay." She almost felt sorry for Olga. Almost.

She should have felt sorry for her ears at Olga's loud shriek of excitement.

Helga grasped the blanket again, wrapping it around her shoulders again.

"Thank you Baby Sister!" Olga bear-hugged her again, this time, not leaving any room for Helga to escape.

Helga grumbled, lying on the couch as she watched her mom and Olga throw on the movie for the night, The Princess Bride.

She groaned as she felt her stomach start to burn again. This was her karma, she thought, for throwing up those damn crackers and ginger ale. Helga tossed to her left side and snuggled into her blanket as the opening credits shone on the screen. She tuned out her Mother and Olga's fangirling as they watched the opening scene, having clearly been a fan of this movie. Helga was more of a wrestling fan than anything else.

She closed her eyes, ignoring the smell of the pizza and the pain in her stomach. Counting back from 10, she was out like a light.

"Helga?" She felt a hand jerking her shoulder. "Helga? The movie's over. It's time to wake up." She groggily opened her eyes as she saw her mom stand in front of her with a worried look. "Are you okay?"

Helga blinked a few times. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just tired is all."

"Baby sister you looked so sweet while you were asleep. I hope you don't mind that I took a picture to send to your little boyfriend."

"What?" Helga sprang up from the couch. "You did what?"

"Olga took a picture of you while you were asleep. You looked so cute, especially with your hair like that. I'm sure you're boyfriend won't mind."

Olga held up Helga's phone. "He replied." She looked at the message and cooed, shoving the phone in Helga's face. "Aw, baby sister. Your boyfriend is adorable."

Helga grumbled and took the phone out of her hand. She pulled up the message and almost melted.

'You look beautiful.' Arnold texted back.
