Heyo, to Dragonslayer I3, thanks for the suggestion and although I only mentioned the ice stun as an example, I will still take some inspiration, but I'm going to go more for Shadow of Mordor's stun because I feel I can relate that to the soul.
With that in mind, I only say soul because that's literally the easiest way I've found to explain it, but it's not soul powers, because if the soul exists then the afterlife comes into play and I really don't have the writing capabilities to explore that.
"Ugh another day another yawn" Chichi awoke to his alarm going off.
After a few seconds of stretching, he rolled out of bed, passing the mountain of bottles to open the door where he overlooked the bar which was filled with people, all there for mostly the same reason.
He descended the stairs where he bumped into a recognizable figure.
"Yo Shoku how've you been? Haven't seen you since…"
"Since you killed my brother" Shoku said as he turned to look at Chichi with a look of mock rage, before he grinned.
"No hard feelings though, I could've slaughtered him myself, but mother would've literally gutted me if I did" Shoku laughed, patting Chichi on the back before he turned back to his group.
"Did I kill him?" Chichi asked himself before shrugging, making his way to the bottle of whiskey and grabbing it, after a long drink he withdrew the bottle from his mouth.
"That's tea, should've added sugar" Chichi grumbled as he took a seat at the bar.
He did a head count of roughly 50 or 60 people, all staying in their respective groups.
He was honestly not expecting such a turnout, when he brought Shigaraki round the clubs and warehouses, only a few were interested in attempting to kill All Might, some were interested in the idea of killing children who were training to be heroes Revenge Of The Sith style, though most of them were just bored and accepted on the spot.
"Ayy is that my boy Matashi?" Chichi jumped off his seat and began to mingle with the rest of the criminals, whilst Shigaraki watched, and no he was not jealous HE WASN'T JEALOUS AT ALL.
Whilst Izuku was on his way to school, the thoughts and worries he had were floating around his head.
These included Saisho's memories, the very idea that he could've been a hero worried Izuku, if Saisho was able to attend an exam despite his villainous actions, how many like him slipped through the net and were now heroes?
When Izuku entered UA and made his way towards his class, he noticed Aizawa had begun walking next to him, for how long will remain a mystery.
"Midoriya, I've wanted to have a chat with you for a while now regarding your motivation for pursuing heroism, as well as some other things but that can come later, first, mind if I tell you a story?" He asked softly, surprising Izuku though also making him worried.
"Umm s-sure" Izuku stuttered, not expecting this from his teacher of all people.
"There was once a student here, he had potential to be a great hero, but in his final few months here, his mother was killed by a trigger junkie" Aizawa looked at Izuku, telling him more with that look than his words.
"This caused him to take his anger out on all villains he encountered during his internship, unfortunately one day he took it too far and killed the wrong person, this one had ties to a crime family that didn't appreciate his actions" Aizawa took a sympathetic breath.
"He was tracked down, the rest of his family were killed in front of him before he was pumped full of drugs and unleashed on a crowd, in his last moments he became the thing he hated, and no one even remembers him as a hero anymore" Aizawa finished before he laid a hand on Izuku.
"Don't let your hatred cloud your actions, you are training to save lives, don't forget that" Aizawa finished as he walked down the corridor towards the teacher's lounge, leaving Izuku outside the classroom.
Izuku wiped his eyes and entered the class with a more Izuku expression, seeing the usual early people, Iida, Todoroki, Yaoyouozu and Kacchan.
"Midoriya, good to see you 10 minutes early" Iida smiled at Izuku's punctuality.
"When did you get here? Or did you never leave?" Izuku asked genuinely curious, but Iida thought he was joking and began to laugh.
"I always make sure to arrive at least 30 minutes early to any affair, it shows professionalism and determination" Iida answered with pride in his voice.
"To take pride in absolute madness, truly inspiring" the wraith complemented, or insulted, honestly Izuku didn't know.
Moments later the rest of the class came in and following them was Aizawa with his 3rd morning coffee, he glanced at Izuku first before beginning homeroom.
Throughout the day, the usual classes took place, English with Present Mic, which was a breeze for Izuku since he had studied the material.
What didn't help was his wraith, who spent the class telling Izuku the answers, which he already knew.
"It's actually 'there' not 'their', oh wait, nevermind" it corrected itself.
Izuku closed his eyes, hoping this would allow him to get into his happy place.
"Now the author chose to make the curtains red to show that the protagonist was feeling what emotion?" Present Mic asked the class, as expected Iida and Yaoyorozu shot their arms up.
"I think it shows the protagonist was feeling annoyed that years later, people would be looking at the colour of his curtains rather than the fact he's plotting to murder his wife" the wraith chuckled.
"Yeah, the red curtains show both his rage and foreshadows the murder by having the same colour as blood" Izuku whispered back, giving the answer to those around him who quickly changed their answers.
"Midoriya, please stop whispering the answers, I may have a loud voice but I can still hear" Present Mic scolded.
"Oh s-s-sorry I'm talking to my wraith" Izuku kicked himself for yet again talking in class.
"No worries little listener, just don't give out the answers" Present Mic grinned, and like a yawn Izuku found himself grinning too.
The next few classes went similarly, Izuku would be scolded but understood, this may have been a minor thing to most, but after thinking about the possible faults in heroes, this understanding nature brought great comfort to him, all the teachers here were genuinely trying to make their students better, perhaps Izuku's worries were misplaced.
Eventually it was time for the class everyone was waiting for, and as Aizawa released the briefcases, Izuku shuddered, he was too thankful that the costumes were optional.
"At least wear some of the armour and the cloak over the gym uniform, they could be useful in a rescue scenario and you won't look like a track runner" the wraith argued as Izuku couldn't deny that he would look better with those on rather than being just in the gym clothing.
And so Izuku found himself between Iida and Tokoyami on the bus, while the wraith and dark shadow conversed above their heads.
"So you can gain temporarily improved physical prowess by merging with your quirk?" Tokoyami asked as he began to think up ideas on how dark shadow could be used other than offence.
"Well I think we're always merged and my wraith just chooses to project itself out of my body, if that makes any sense" Izuku explained as Tokoyami nodded.
"There are some things I feel I can take inspiration from, if I try to 'wear' Dark Shadow rather than stand back and let him attack, perhaps I can use him in a similar fashion" Tokoyami hummed as he began to think of ways he could implement this.
"Well if you want to get up close and personal, you may want to train your body a bit, just in case" Izuku suggested as his wraith piped in.
"You should also have Dark Shadow randomly attack you to improve your reaction time" it added much to Izuku's annoyance.
"No, that never worked, you just wanted to test my reaction, you had no interest in training it" Izuku disagreed as he caught two wraith punches aimed at his face.
"See, the results speak for themselves" the wraith chuckled as Izuku just sighed before he caught the frog girl, Tsuyu, looking at him.
"Hi, I tend to say what's on my mind and I think your quirk is a bit weird" she said, this silenced the wraith and dark shadow as they looked at her.
"Um ouch ok, screw you too I guess" the wraith retorted, Izuku however was now more concerned about his wraith's response rather than Tsuyu's opinion.
"Ahh! Please excuse my wraith, I don't share its thoughts!" Izuku squealed, though Tsuyu didn't seem to mind.
"Ribbit. I mean weird as in your abilities, everyone's quirks are pretty self explanatory, Tokoyami has Dark Shadow, Momo has creation…" Tsuyu listed with her fingers before she pointed to Izuku.
"Then you have a wraith that doesn't like being called a quirk, that gives you better strength and agility, and allows you to summon a bow and possibly other weapons...it just feels a bit overpowered especially with no drawbacks" Tsuyu pointed out Izuku's numerous abilities.
"I mean the main drawback is the wraith itself" Izuku pointed his thumb towards the wraith, who mockingly held its arm over its unwounded heart.
"She has a point, we are clearly the strongest people here" the wraith spoke up, much to Izuku's embarrassment.
"Your wraith may be right, I can only harden my body, so you definitely have a one up on me" Kirishima gave a shark grin, though Izuku could see the insecurity in his eyes.
"N-no, all the abilities are what the wraith can do, and they are powered by soul energy, which in itself is very limited, I can only use my speed and strength for a few seconds at a time, if it was a battle of attrition, you could have a shot" Izuku stuttered out an explanation.
"Plus, I have spent a lot of time testing our abilities with an 'out the box' mindset, if everyone follows that way of thinking, perhaps their quirks would become less self explanatory" the wraith added, which seemed to catch some of the class's attention.
"So if Bakugo focuses on his trashy personality, he could use that as a source of power?" Kaminari joked, and chaos ensued.
After many shouts and laughs, Aizawa stood up, and glared at the class.
"We're here, now I can go to the water zone and get some sleep" Aizawa said as he picked up a deflated float.
"Is he planning on sleeping in the water with a float, while we do rescue training?"
"Now it makes sense that there are three teachers"
When the alarm on his phone went off, Chichi stood next to Shigaraki as everyone prepared themselves for the trip to the USJ.
"So where's the weapon?" Someone asked, and in an effect of drama, a portal opened.
"What the fuck? I thought it was a gun, not a bird that got fed steroids" a snake villain joked the group chuckled, Shigaraki even joined in on the laughter as he approached the snake and placed his hands on his shoulders as he laughed.
Eventually people caught on to what Shigaraki was doing but it was too late for the snake villain, who only screamed for a moment before his head was separated from the rest of his body.
"If anyone else feels like joking, tell it to Nomu, be warned though, it's strength is constantly at 100%" Shigaraki rasped as the villains felt an aura of malice over them, some hated it, some accepted it.
But Chichi absolutely loved it, though he was a bit concerned.
"You have two minutes to get ready" Shigaraki growled as he stood in front of the creature.
"You obey my orders, understand?" He growled, in response the creature nodded.
"Good" he grinned before he grabbed some hands out of a briefcase.
"Um, Shiggy? You good? Seem a bit agitated" Chichi asked as Shigaraki put some of the hands on his legs.
"Yeah I'm fine, why don't you go talk to your other friends" Shigaraki grunted as he placed the hands on his arms.
"These guys aren't my friends, just people I used to group with, but unlike you, they are more murderous than good company" Chichi patted Shigaraki on the back as he picked up a hand.
"Though I got to ask, what the fuck is up with the hands?" Chichi chuckled as he waved with the hand.
"It's my costume, where's yours?" Shigaraki looked up, his face slightly calmer at Chichi's response.
"Wait, we needed a costume, why?" Chichi asked as he looked at his street clothes.
"We are about to kill the Symbol of Peace, we're going to become public enemy number one" Shigaraki groaned in annoyance before he saw Chichi poke what remained of the snake villain, the blood flowing into his hand before he shaped it into a mask and hardened the blood.
"There, call me Bloody Mary" Chichi let the blood seep into his already red hair and lengthen it.
"Why Bloody Mary?" One of the villains asked.
"Well pretty sure I'm reasonably well known as a male, so if I call myself Bloody Mary and look like a chick, then they'll think I'm a chick, it's called being a genius" Chichi strode back to Shigaraki.
"Ugh, whatever, ok everyone! It's time for a slaughter!" Shigaraki yelled, and the villains responded with cheers as the portal opened.
"Something's wrong, I see multiple people near that fountain" the wraith appeared mid sentence as a dark purple spot became visible, before expanding and as the wraith warned, multiple people began coming from it.
"Everyone get behind me! Now!" Aizawa put on his goggles and got in a stance.
"What's going on? Is this part of the exercise?" Kirishima asked.
The wraith turned around to look at Izuku, and it was that look again.
The look of hidden rage behind a stoic expression, the eyes counted the villains, analysed their bodies to find any sort of mutation that would give away their quirk.
When Izuku saw his teacher run down the stairs to confront the villains, he began to move, however his wraith appeared in his way.
"Izuku!" The wraith shouted as it spun Izuku around where he was met with the purple cloud.
"...od evening, we are the League Of Villains…" the cloud monologued, but Izuku already drew his bow and would've shot but he had to re-aim when Kirishima and Bakugo shot forwards, their hits going through the cloud but between them the arrow flew and hit dead centre.
"Umph, well then, I guess I'll get right to it" the cloud looked right at Izuku as his vision went black.
When his vision came back, he was alone in a city that seemed to be buried as though a landslide occurred, but judging from the dome above, he was still in the USJ.
"We are not alone, there are ten coming our way" the wraith warned as people began to appear.
"Oh what! Just one? Looks like we drew the short straw boys" the lead villain complained as if they just missed the train.
"Let me take the first shot Shoku, you know green is my thing" a hunched villain said as he walked on all fours with his long arms.
"Yeah go for it, we can go back to Shigaraki after to teleport us to somewhere else" The villain called Shoku yawned as the hunched villain grinned with bloodthirsty intent.
However as he turned, his face met with Izuku's boot, knocking him to the floor before two wraith infused stomps rendered his left arm and right leg broken, surprising the other villains with his speed.
"One down, nine to go" Izuku grinned the same bloodthirsty grin.
"Shit! We have a teleporter!" Shoku yelled as he swung his arm and a dart shot out towards Izuku, who dodged it quite easily due to his wraith agility before chucking it into the long armed villains other arm.
"Hmm a dart? I wonder if you c-" the wraith began but it seemed that Izuku had the same thought process as he also swung his arm and just like Shoku, a dart shot out and hit one of the other villains in the leg, causing them to fall and even trip up the villains who rushed Izuku.
"What? He shot a dart?" Shoku wandered, before he sighed in relief.
"Looks like this isn't going to be as easy as I thought, good" he laughed as he flexed his arm and out came a dagger.
"So he can create weapons, gotta keep an eye on him" Izuku said, but suddenly something hit him hard in the shoulder, it felt like a bowling ball that was in on fire, whatever it was, it succeeded in knocking him off balance long enough for the villains to get a little too close for comfort.
Before he knew it, he was surrounded on all sides with the villains beginning to close in.
One went for a punch, which Izuku caught, another aimed to kick him in the stomach, but was countered by an invisible force that gave it's own kick to the villain's the shin, bringing them to one knee before knocking him to the floor with a knee to the face.
"Eight to go"
To an outside perspective, the kneeling villain just shot backwards and suddenly had a bleeding nose and a few missing teeth as the wraith was invisible to everyone but Izuku.
"What the!? Is this kid a fucking Jedi or something?" They recoiled in surprise.
Taking advantage of the distraction, Izuku headbutted the villain in front of him, taking a hit to the ribs before he kicked the villain behind him, however despite the wraith infused attacks, neither were out the fight and jumped right back in.
For the next few moments, Izuku was at constant disadvantage, every hit he landed was met with two more he couldn't counter, at this rate, he'd go down quick unless he changed tactics.
But the longer Izuku fought, the more he worried about his classmates. These villains were going for the kill with every strike and Izuku was taking too long to deal with these guys.
He vaulted over one of the villains to get out the pile and try to pick them off with his bow, but he yet again got hit with that heavy hot air, knocking him to the floor next to Shoku who knelt beside Izuku.
"Jesus kid, you're not all that bad, I wonder if the rest of your class are as fun as you" Shoku taunted as he thrust the dagger towards Izuku's chest.
However, just before he could succeed, Izuku rolled over and a bow appeared in his grasp.
"Don't count me out just yet" Izuku grunted as he shot an arrow through Shoku's arm, rendering it useless and dropping the dagger into Izuku's hand.
Izuku pushed off the floor back to his feet with the dagger in hand ready for round two.
"What're you going to do with that? Kill us? Aren't you a hero?" One of the villains asked and this caught Izuku off guard, he looked at the blade, catching his glowing eyes in it.
Although Izuku could say his reason for being a hero would be to stop what happened to him from ever occurring again, there was a part of him that wanted only vengeance for what he went through, every time Izuku saw a villain, it was there and only really began to grow once he gained his quirk.
Izuku wasn't stupid, fighting crime quirkless was always a stupid plan, one that would probably end in his death, but now?
"Oh I'm not going to kill you, I'm just going to make you wish I did" Izuku grinned as the dagger began to glow, much to the wraith's surprise.
"Hm is this to do with the power that combat builds?" It wondered before Izuku charged in.
He swung overhead but this was a fake out, as he instead chose to slide and sliced the tendons behind the knees of a villain, bringing him painfully to the floor, before smashing the hilt of the blade into the the back of the skull, this wouldn't kill him, but hopefully he'll spend the rest of his pathetic life eating through a straw.
"Seven" he smiled with malicious intent as the other villains looked at eachother unsure if they should kill him or try to recruit him.
While he charged the next villain who was alone, the wraith appeared behind him and countered an attack aimed at Izuku's back managing to shoot a devastating knee to the face but to it's annoyance the villain got back up, though with a lot of blood running down his face.
Izuku then jumped upwards ready to permanently blind the blue haired villain, but after seeing Izuku's ferocity and that he about to attack him, they panicked and used both hands to create a double burst of the hot air that blew Izuku back right into Shoku's path.
STAB!
"You're one tough kid, and your quirk is tricky to place, but you have the same weakness as everyone else, you're just one man" Shoku spoke as he pulled the sword out of Izuku's stomach.
As Izuku stumbled forwards, he began to realise that even if he truly was immortal, it would still take 30 minutes to return, and by then, how many would've died?
"Ahh got you in the non fatal area, most likely going to bleed out before we go, so tell me kid, what's your name? I want to remember it" Shoku asked as he went to kick Izuku's over, however in an act of defiance Izuku spun and kicked him in the face.
"F-fuck you" Izuku growled, but found his foot was caught and and a sudden pain emanating from his calf, where Shoku has stabbed a dagger right through.
"Even bleeding, you still fight, it's honestly pretty fucking scary" Shoku chuckled, astonished at Izuku's determination as he pushed him back into the other villains who took some cheap shots, unable to properly fight, Izuku tried to run away and shoot an arrow to escape but his cloak was grabbed, dragging him back into them with enough force to rip it.
Izuku began to get pelted with extremely fast strikes, courtesy of a villain with very quick movements and although he and his wraith tried to block the attacks, he was constantly left open to the other villains who gladly took advantage and attacked his stomach and leg.
Eventually the villains backed off, revealing a heavily battered Izuku, who had bruises forming and blood dripping, and before he could enjoy this moment of not being beaten, the blue haired villain unleashed another double blast in his face, knocking him back a few meters into a wall.
Izuku tried to get up, the pain numbing as a mix of adrenaline and shock began to flood his system, but before he could properly recover, a speedy kick flipped him onto his back.
"You just won't stay down, I can't wait to have fun with the rest of your classmates after we're done with you" the fast punching villain taunted as he put his boot on Izuku's face.
How typical, even with his quirk Izuku still couldn't do anything except entertain these savages, what a . Deku.
Whether it was a second wind or a burst of energy given by his rage, Izuku let out a roar as he jumped into the air, the wraith side of him glowing as he tackled the villain roughly and unleashed a furious combo on his face with such speed that it looked like it had six arms.
Meanwhile the other villains stood and watched, enjoying the brutal display of Izuku's rage.
"Fucking hell, I thought we were bad" Shoku joked as he created a mace.
"Batter up!" He smacked Izuku across the face, bone cracking and teeth flying as Izuku was once again knocked few feet away, though this time, he didn't get back up, the wraith didn't appear.
His wraith tried to punch the villain, but found that it passed right through him.
"What? I don't understand…unless" a terrifying discovery caused the wraith to widen its eyes.
Izuku's vision began to blur, the only thoughts on his mind was his class, he imagined the fear they felt, fear that Izuku knew too well.
"So are you going to tell me your name?" Shoku's voice came out garbled to Izuku, as though he was underwater, he saw him pointing his sword at Izuku.
Yett looking into the kid's eyes, Shoku could see that the metaphorical light was going out.
'Villains, they've taken everything from me'
"You were one scary kid, please, let me grant you this one kindness" Shoku raised his sword and brought it down.
And as time slowed down, Izuku thought back to all the moments he had with his classmates. In the short time he knew them, they had made an impression on him.
He didn't want to come back if they were going to be gone.
And so he made a choice, if he was going to be regarded as a villain? Then so be it, as long as they all lived.
"W-with…my power" Izuku breathed out as he pivoted his body to the right, dodging the sword.
"Huh?" Shoku exclaimed as Izuku jumped above him.
"With my light" the wraith appeared behind Izuku, a mournful expression on its face.
People usually had a similar reaction to his quirk, such as Dark Shadows 'Too bright'
And when Saisho regarded him as Lord, it felt…fitting.
And so…
"All shadow shall cower before The Bright Lord's might" Izuku shouted, the wraith merging with his body to assist it with movement.
Izuku grabbed Shoku's head and smacked it into the floor before he entered his mind, he ignored the images that went by, and went straight to the soul.
"Shoku! What's going on?" the blue haired villain asked before the wraith appeared in front of them, on instinct he tried to unleash a blast but the wraith just kicked his arm and the blast ended up hitting another villain, giving the wraith ample opportunity to grab their head before turning its attention to him.
The last thing he saw was Shoku and the other villains rise, behind them was the boy, his injuries gone and his eyes glowing that terrifying green glow that demanded authority.
The next thing he knew, he wanted to save the class, and if he had to kill or even be killed for them, then so be it.
Heyo, originally I had a 6000 word chapter showing the whole USJ arc, but I decided to split it so Izuku's Bright Lord moment could be better received rather than having Izuku have his moment then cut to another character, hopefully you understand my thought process.
So regarding Izuku's fight, I tried to make it similar to a fight you'd have in game, such as the last chance and fury mechanics, though since it's a game with mechanics like being able to use deadly spectre ONLY in stealth rather than mid fight, I made some changes that I feel that Talion could possibly do.
Anyway hope you enjoyed see you next chapter.
