Byleth stares at Nezu in disbelief, "I'm sorry, could you please repeat that?"
Nezu giggles, "But of course! I want you to come teach at UA high school! You're quite skilled from what your little skirmish with Aizawa says, and you have prior teaching experience that has earned the praise of my trusted Vice Principal! The truth, Ms. Eisner, is that we need more Heroes nowadays who can think on their feet and devise strategies in an Instant, and weaponry skill is sorely underappreciated nowadays in the Age of Quirks! Your resume is practically glowing!"
Byleth nods slowly, "I understand your logic, but I'm a civilian, not a Hero." An odd gleam appears in Nezu's eye, "That can be fixed! Should you accept the position, we will have your illegal Quirk use wiped from the records and get you on the fast track to a Hero license! It wouldn't be the first time I've done this, how do you think Seteth here has one?"
Byleth is stunned by how easily Nezu can circumvent the conventional process, meanwhile Seteth just sighs, being well accustomed to Nezu's antics. Giving Byleth a moment to recover from her shock, Nezu continues, "I'll let you have some time to mull it over. Return with your answer in three days time. I'd prefer to give you a week at the very least, but setting this sort of thing up on short notice will take quite a bit of convincing and even more paperwork, and It would be better if we could get it done before the new school year."
Nodding slowly, Byleth stands, "Thank you for the consideration. Is it alright if I go now?" Nezu chuckles, nodding, "Yes, I'm sure you and Seteth have a lot of catching up to do. Ta-ta!"
As the two leave his office, Nezu internally chuckles to himself, 'Even if you're only skirting around it, you two are much too careless with your information. You've confirmed my suspicions that you're hiding something, something big, and I just can't wait to find out! Oh, I haven't had this much fun in years!' The sapient stoat can't help himself, he starts to giggle with glee at the thought of what Seteth and his soon to be employee, he's already certain she'll accept the position, are hiding.
As Byleth and Seteth exit Nezu's office, Byleth finds herself wondering what to do now that she's standing next to Seteth for the first time in… she's lost track.
Seteth pulls a phone from his pocket and checks a recently received message, "I see. It would appear that Nezu has given me the rest of the day off. Would you like to accompany me home? We could use the opportunity to catch up over some tea, and I'm sure Flayn would love to see you again."
A smile smile stretches across Byleth's face. Even if it's been years, and even with the awkward energy still present in the back of her mind, Byleth has to admit that she misses her old tea parties with Seteth, and the chance to see Flayn again? The decision had been made before he finished asking.
Byleth's smile grows wider as she turns to face Seteth, "I would love nothing more."
A/N: Despite this being a bit short even for my liking, it feels complete here so I'm just going to put it out and get ready for next chapter.
