Walking back into UA for another day of work, Byleth makes her way to the teacher's lounge and sets about preparing herself a cup of coffee. She will always claim to prefer tea, but over the years she's grown an appreciation for the life giving hot bean juice.
She feels that she'll need it quite often during her employ at UA, especially considering how her introductions to the Hero Courses went. Class 1-A had the Bakugou incident, Class 1-B had several students already thinking of forming a rivalry with 1-A as well an Monoma's… everything. Class 2-A had been incredibly jumpy and terrified of her and the other teachers, which she later learned was because they were all students from other courses that transferred in after Aizawa expelled the entire original class. Class 2-B was fairly amicable, and all those who thought of 2-A as their rivals did so in a friendly manner. Class 3-A was a small, tightly knit group of extremely skilled students who had essentially wanted to fight her on sight (she had won). Finally, Class 3-B had been incredibly skilled and well behaved, but seemed (to her at least) like they didn't have the drive to become more than well known local Heroes.
Taking a sip of her coffee, Byleth lets out a quiet sigh as she takes a seat at an open desk and recalls what's supposed to happen today. During the Heroics class periods she's going to be teaching the first and second years the basics of some fighting styles that she believes will compliment their Quirks.
Not just the ancient weapons that she can use to cut apart armies in her sleep, but more modern ones as well, such as firearms. For some it would be easy, such as Tenya Iida, who she had originally thought to give a lance to due to her preference towards bladed weaponry, but now she's considering handing him a staff for similar momentum based effects with a somewhat reduced lethality.
For others, like Kyoka Jiro, its somewhat trickier. The girl's Quirk seemingly has no synergy with weapons, but Byleth has already drafted some plans involving specialized gloves and a sound gun.
Then, there was Momo Yaoyorozu. The girl's Quirk sounds simple at first, the ability to make anything so long as it isn't living, though it gets complicated by the fact that she requires intimate knowledge of the object down to the chemical composition. Coupled with the girl's amazing mind, this ability will surely see her into the future.
However, the ability makes the job of drafting a training schedule for her just that. A job, and quite the hefty one at that. The obvious answer would be to train her as Byleth trained herself and make her into a polymath of weapon skill.
Byleth has no clue how to schedule that. Byleth's own skills had been honed over many years, some of which had been in a time loop of her own creation. Yaoyorozu doesn't have that time.
Byleth lets out a tired sigh as she pushes her chair away from the desk, various schedules littering the surface. As she sits in quiet contemplation, she hears approaching footsteps and turns to greet whoever is making them.
Walking into the lounge are two people who can potentially help her, Aizawa and Seteth.
Waving to them, she stands, giving a small stretch as she does, before approaching, "Good morning you two, since you're here, I'm hoping you can assist me with something."
Aizawa raises an eyebrow, "One of our new hires actually asking for help instead of assuming they can figure it out on their own? That's a bit refreshing, especially after All Might waltzed in with no experience thinking he can do this himself."
Seteth lets out a tired sigh, "Aizawa, please do not say such things about our coworkers. And may I remind you, that despite her being new to this position, Byleth has actual teaching experience and knowledge of her limits."
Byleth clears her throat to return their attention to the topic at hand, "As I was saying, I have something I'd like you two to assist me with."
Turning back to the desk, she gestures at the schedules. Aizawa looks them over, his eyebrows raising as he gives a low whistle when he sees almost all of them are done.
He looks over to Byleth, "Well, you sure work fast, and these are surprisingly comprehensive. Looks like Seteth was right, you know what you're doing."
Byleth responds in a voice that seems dry despite being just as monotone as before, "Thank you."
Sifting through the schedules, she pulls out the one for Yaoyorozu, "I've been having some trouble with this one. Theoretically, the solution sounds simple. Just train her in everything I can think of. However, as I'm sure you two are well aware, that is far more easily said than done. Not only is that quite the list of topics, I would also have to worry about the other students I'm looking after, and then there's the matter of overworking her. She'll already be pushing herself to improve her physical condition, learn new items to create, and improve her overall Quirk use. Adding say, seven weapons training regiments and that sounds like an early grave due to overworking."
Seteth nods, "That does sound rather vexing. By the way, how did you intend to teach the students?"
"Something akin to a seminar. I could give broader explanation and demonstrations to a larger group, then have them practice and potentially spar amongst themselves or with me, correcting any mistakes I see along the way. Personally I would prefer one on one sessions, but there are too many students to accommodate for that."
Aizawa grunts as an entry into their discussion, "Depending on what times these seminars would be, you could probably ask a few of the teachers or Pro Heroes we have on call for assistance. Nearly all of the weapons you have listed on these are covered by one of those groups, though we're lacking in a few departments like archery."
Aizawa's brow furrows, "Why archery anyway? If you wanted to give them range I can think of a few other ways that might be more effective."
Byleth looks at the schedule he's holding, for one Shoto Todoroki, "Easier integration with their Quirks. If I'm correct on a few of my theories about Todoroki's Quirk specifically, handing him a bow and quiver of arrows could drastically increase his ranged combat effectiveness. I thought that coupled well with what he seems to intend as his fighting style, since he seems to prefer doing things as far from his opponents as possible."
She had seen his recommendation exam footage, she feels she has a decent idea of how he prefers to fight, so why not make it both easier and more effective?
Aizawa takes a moment to consider before nodding, "Alright, I can see what you mean. Now if you'll both excuse me, I have a class to teach."
Aizawa exits, leaving the schedule. Looking at the time, Byleth sees that she'll need to get going soon for her class with 2-A.
As she's packing away all the schedules, still a bit frustrated with the Yaoyorozu situation, Seteth approaches, "Would you like to come by for some tea this afternoon? I quite enjoyed your last visit, and I'm sure Flayn would say the same."
Byleth gives a small smile, "Yes, I'd really like that. Does 6 work for you?"
Seteth nods with a smile of his own, "Yes, that will do wonderfully. I suppose I'll see you then?"
With a nod Byleth exits the teacher's lounge and heads of to her first class, hoping that her teaching skills haven't gotten too rusty.
A/N: Finally got another chapter done. Anyway, I have a question. Anyone have a good idea for a fake surname to give Seteth and Flayn? I'm a bit stumped and need a proper way for the teachers to refer to Flayn in class (especially Byleth, so no one thinks she's playing favorites or anything, even though Todoroki already has his thumbtacks, red string, and a corkboard ready to go). Anyway, I'll see you next chapter, hopefully much sooner than it took me to finally finish this one.
