Chapter 5
Meredith
Being woken up by Cristina climbing in bed with Arizona and I is something I will never get used to. I meant it when I said there will be no kicking Arizona out of bed like we used to do with Derek. I was ok sleeping without him, but with Arizona. Damn I love that woman. Once I was awake Cristina whisked me away to get ready for the wedding. The dress I had picked out wasn't anything too elaborate, we had decided to just pick some random dresses. I picked out a black one, with spaghetti straps, that hugged my curves in all the right places. Standing in front of the mirror, I inhaled deeply, and turned around. I looked good, and I knew I would take Arizona's breath away once she saw me. There was a knock on the door, and it slowly opened "hey" Richard's voice was soft "you about ready?" I look up and smile "wow" he whistles "Meredith you look stunning"
"thanks" I smile, and he holds out his hand "come on let's get you married" I let out a little giggle "you know I'm already married right"
"I know" he smiles, I take his hand and let him lead me down the stairs and out to the back yard. I hear the music start, "ok here we go" I whisper.
"here we go" Richard laughs and we slowly make our way down the makeshift aisle that was set up in the back yard. I hadn't looked up, choosing to keep my focus on the ground so I didn't trip, but when I do, my breath is almost knocked out of me. At the end of the aisle stands my wife in a cobalt blue dress, that hung perfectly off her curves. Her hair was down and hung perfectly with her natural curls, when she smiled at me, Richard had to pull me to get me to move. "we're almost there" he whispered, I didn't say anything, I couldn't. I don't know how I got so lucky to have this amazingly beautiful woman to not only want me but love me. Arizona reached out her hand for me, giving Richard a smile. As we step into place, I'm left speechless again. Standing before us, and ready to marry us was the one and only Cristina Yang. She smiles when we make eye contact "now that we got them both out here" Cristina says causing everyone to laugh. "I'd like to welcome everyone, for those who don't know me, I'm Cristina, Meredith's" she pauses and looks at me she smiles "I'm Meredith's person" I can feel the sting of tears fill my eyes. This was going to be the best day ever.

Arizona
I honestly didn't think I'd be ready in time. Between my mom and Sofia, I hadn't had time to breathe, but here I am. My arm tucked in my dad's arm, who is wearing his old military uniform. The same one he wore at my first wedding. "you ready?" he asks in a soft tone.
"more than" I smile, he nods, looking at me "you know, I've seen you happy many times before, I know that you were happy with Callie, but seeing you with Meredith and the kids" he shakes his head with a smile "it's a different kind of happy"
"Meredith makes me happy, dad, she completes me in ways I didn't know I needed completing."
"I can tell" he smiles "come on" he starts to walk, once we are out the door the music starts to play, and my dad and I make our way down the aisle. The backyard was perfect, April did a good job supervising the set up. Once we are at the front, I smile seeing Cristina standing there, she smiles back at me and nods. When Callie said she'd take care of finding someone to perform the ceremony I thought she was going to ask Bailey or maybe even Addison. I didn't even think having Cristina do it was an option. The music changes and I turn around to see Richard walking slowly, and then my wife comes into view, taking my breath away. The black dress she was wearing fit her perfectly, and I could feel myself starting to get worked up. Taking a deep breath, I hold it for a moment as I see her look up. When our eyes meet. All my thoughts went out the window, as I watch them slowly walk forward. Reaching out I take Meredith's hand, and smile at Richard. I have to bite my cheek to cover my laugh when she sees who is marrying us. Cristina starts to talk, but I don't hear any of it. Until I hear my name "when I first met Arizona, I thought she was an infant on roller skates, and I remember you saying the same"
"hey that's what I said" Bailey's voice is heard somewhere in the crowd of people who have gathered. I hear Meredith laugh beside me, as I shake my head. "but once I got to know her" Cristina looks me in the eye "there is no one in this world, McDreamy, included, that is better matched for Meredith" The tears fill my eyes, a complement like that from Cristina Yang is like winning the lottery. "with that said, we are all gathered here today to witness these two pretend to get married, we all know I'm not ordained, and most of us know these two idiots got married in Vegas six months ago" she pauses and looks at us "do you want to say anything?" again I just wanted the simple I do's, but Meredith speaks up "yes" she pulls my hand so I'm facing her. "Arizona" she smiles, looking directly into my eyes "I'm not much for saying how I feel, but with you it's easy" she sniffles and I reach up wiping the tear that had snuck out of her eye. "you make everything better, and I" she pauses again. "I love you!" I smile. I wasn't planning on saying anything like I said I wanted the simple I do's "Meredith" I shake my head "I don't remember when I fell for you, but it was way before we declared our love for each other. You have always been a friend, a confidant, someone who I could trust with my whole world" I look over at Sofia who is sitting next to Callie, Zola next to her, and of course Maggie is on the other side of Callie. "meaning Sofia" I chuckle "I was broken, and you found the tape and glue and slowly piece by piece, you put me back together, and I am completely honored to be standing here today making you my wife in front of all our family, and friends who have become family. I love you so much Meredith Grey, and nothing and no one will change that"
"wow roller girl can make speeches"
"oh they get better" Callie laughs, shaking my head Meredith and I turn our attention back to Cristina. "now give me the rings" Alex and Maggie step forward and hand Cristina the rings we had picked out. "how do you want to do this?" she asks holding the rings in her hand. I reach over and take Meredith's sliding it on her finger. And she does the same, Cristina smiles and says "sorry guys I gotta say it" she laughs "does anyone object to this union? Not that it matters because they are already legally married" when no one says anything "alright, you may now kiss your bride"
"about fucking time" Meredith says pulling me into her, when our lips crash together I can feel the pain in my teeth, but her kiss makes it go away, her kiss makes everything go away. "let me be, well not the first but I'll announce it anyway Meredith and Arizona Robbins-Grey" we both look at Cristina in confusion, we had decided not to change our names. "just go with it" Cristina rolls her eyes "alright guys now let's PARTY!" she calls out.

Meredith
I really wanted to say more, but I just couldn't get the words out. Arizona knows how much I love her. The party is now in full swing, I just sat down for a breather. We hit the jackpot on the weather today, there isn't a cloud in the sky, and the temperature is almost perfect. I was a little worried since it has been nothing but constant rain over the last week, and when I checked the forecast, they said there was a 40% chance of rain today. The clinking of a eating utensil on a glass was heard, and I look around to find my wife. When our eyes meet, she smiles, that amazing smile showing off her dimples, I stand and make my way towards her, when we meet, she places her hands on my cheeks and pulls me in for a soft kiss. "oh come on you can do better than that" Alex comments, Arizona moves her hands down to my waist and pulls me in close to her, kissing me hard, I feel her tongue swipe against my bottom lip, when our tongues meet I feel the all too familiar fireworks. As the kiss deepens I hear Alex let out a whistle "that's more like it, go Robbins" breaking the kiss because Arizona starts laughing, she reaches for my hand and pulls me back towards the table I was just sitting at. "I need to sit a bit"
"is your leg ok"
"yeah, it's fine, I just" she looks up meeting my eyes "you're so beautiful" I can't help but smile. A plate of food is set down in front of us, "eat" Barbara says sitting down next to Arizona. "I know neither of you have ate much today" she gives us that stern look only a mother can give. I have to hold back my laugh, it's the same look Arizona gives the kids. Arizona picks up the fork and takes a forkful of food and puts it to my mouth "you gotta listen to momma" laughing I open my mouth and accept it. I honestly didn't realize how hungry I was, but once the food hits my stomach it hits me. "as much as I love that you're doing that, baby I can feed myself"
"ok" she smiles and hands me the second fork. The sound of a microphone crackling brings my attention to where the DJ has been set up. "hey everyone I just wanted to say a few words to the brides" Cristina says
"oh god" I lay my head on Arizona's shoulder as she laughs
"Mer" she says, I lift my head and look at her "remember before I left for Switzerland and you and Derek were having problems?" for a moment I wonder why she is bringing up my dead husband at my wedding but that thought it put to ease as she goes on "I told you he was not the sun, you were" I smile and nod, as the memory came back to me "well I think you found your sun" she smiles and holds up her glass "to Meredith and Arizona may they live a long and happy life together" everyone cheers and Arizona kisses my cheek. "hello" another voice is heard, I look up and am surprised to see Addison standing with the mic, everyone is quiet "you know" she laughs "when I first met Meredith" she pauses "maybe I shouldn't go there" she laughs "you know, through it all I always knew you were an amazing person Meredith, and" her eyes go to Arizona, "you Arizona are one lucky woman" Addison smiles holds up her glass "to Meredith and Arizona"
"whose friend is she?" Arizona laughs knowing full well she came for both of us. Some more crackling was heard "is this thing even on?"
"oh god" Arizona and I both groan "hi guys" Alex says with his smart ass smirk "Mer, Arizona" he looks at us and smiles "I've seen both of you happy, I've seen both of you sad, pissed off, hurting, you name it I've seen it" he pauses "but none of that compares to what I see when I look at the two of you together, and I for one am completely honored that I get to be a part of all that happiness" there's some commotion and the two oldest girls are standing next to Alex, as he finishes his speech with "I love you both" he hands the mic to Zola and she and Sofia both start giggling. You can hear little whispers then Zola saying "hi mom's"
"hi ZoZo" I smile
"we just wanted to say thank you for making us sisters" they giggle
"we love you both" Sofia says, I hear Arizona sniffle next to me, looking over she's got tears streaming down her face. Moving my arm, I wrap it around her "sorry" she murmurs and reaches for a napkin to wipe the tears away. "I didn't" I smile and lean in for a kiss. And watch as that beautiful smile crosses her face. The mic crackles again, and we turn our attention back to the front, and I couldn't help but smile.

Arizona
Hearing Sofia and Zola make their little speech caused all the emotions I'd been feeling all day to boil over. Wiping my face, as the mic crackles again, Meredith wraps her arm tighter around me. Richard and Bailey were standing together with the mic. "I'm a little butthurt you guys didn't ask me to officiate" Bailey says into the mic "oh come now Miranda you know they didn't ask anyone" Richard says
"I'm still a little butthurt" she says looking at him
"get over yourself" he rolls his eyes and they both laugh
"Meredith and Arizona" Bailey starts "you two are" she pauses shaking her head "when I first heard the two of you were together, I couldn't believe it. Arizona you're so, what's the right word"
"sunshine and rainbows" Richard laughs
"and Meredith you're all"
"dark and twisty" Richard laughs
"I guess opposites really do attract. You two really bring out the best in each other"
"yes you do" Richard smiles looking right at us "I know I don't say it but I love you both"
"what he said" Bailey says, she holds up her glass, Richard does the same and they both say "to Meredith and Arizona"
"those two would have made a good couple" turning to look at my mom sitting beside me, Meredith and I both shake our heads laughing "what? They would"
"you realize Miranda is younger than me right?" I say
"age is nothing but a number" she smiles "the girls are sure adorable today with their matching dresses"
"mom, you're the one who took them to pick them out" I roll my eyes
"their still adorable" the mic cracks again and our attention is back to the front where Maggie and Amelia are standing. I hear Meredith groan next to me "can't the speeches be done now?"
"oh honey everyone just wants to say how happy they are for you" mom says reaching across the table to pat Meredith's hand as the two with the mic start talking. "you start" Amelia says shoving the mic in Maggie's face, causing her to shake her head and reach for it "Meredith, Arizona" she starts "we just want to say congrats and we love you"
"sweet and to the point, I like it" Amelia says "I didn't want to get up here anyway" she laughs and leaves, leaving Maggie alone shaking her head she hands the mic back to the DJ "alright if everyone will clear the dance floor I believe it's time for the first dance"
"how's your leg?" Meredith asks before she stands
"good" I smile taking her hand and standing, as she leads me to the dance floor. Once again, we had let April pick the song, when the music starts "every now and then I get a little lost. My strings all get tangled, my wires all get crossed" Meredith takes me in her arms "every now and then I'm right up on the edge dangling my toes out over the ledge" we are moving slowly looking in each other's eyes "baby you save me" we both smile knowing how true those words are. The words are tuned out when Meredith leans in connecting our lips. "you did" I whisper and feel her smile against my lips, as we continue to dance our first dance as wives. Thinking back, I think it is the first time we've danced since we've been married. There hasn't been much time for that with work and the kids, but that's ok. As the song came to an end, Meredith pulled me away. The next thing I realize is we are in the bathroom and she's locking the door, pushing me up against it. "I cannot wait until later" feeling her lips on my neck, I let out a moan when she hits that spot, she knows will make me completely melt. Praying she doesn't leave a mark, after that bite mark, she left she's been careful, but with the lust taking over I have a feeling there will be one. All thoughts leave my head as I feel her pull up my dress and her hand slips inside my soaked panties. Fully satisfied, at least until later Arizona and I head back to the party. I can hear little snippets of chatter about how we disappeared. I didn't think we were gone that long but apparently, we were. It was obvious what we were doing, the flushed look on Arizona's face says it all, but we don't care, this party is about the love we have for each other right? Then why can't I make love to my wife when I want to? Taking a seat at a table with Barbara and Daniel, Barbara is in the middle of a story about a young Arizona. "and when Tim came running into the house mud covering his shoes, yelling something about Arizona being stuck, I tried to yell at him for getting mud on my nice clean floor, but Daniel took off out the back door and down the muddy path to find Arizona stuck up to her knees in the mud, holding a tiny kitten"
"mom" Arizona scolded her, causing me to giggle "stop please" a laughing Callie says "why haven't I heard this before?"
"because she's making shit up" Arizona says, Barbara turns to Daniel "remember that time we were visiting your friend and they decided to go skinny dipping in the pond out back?"
"MOM" Arizona scolds her again, this time Daniel was laughing "and she thought she was one of the boys, you see my buddy had 4 boys all within a year or 2 of Arizona and Tim"
"ugh" Arizona sat down putting her head on the table "please just stop talking"

"no you don't" she looks up at me and I smile "I do"
"fine" she groans "I wanted to be like them and through a fit because I didn't have a penis" I see her cringe at saying the word penis, and I have to laugh "a fit?" Daniel laughs "honey it was more than a fit"
"more like an all out melt down" both parents were laughing so hard I thought they were going to piss themselves.

Without you here with me, life with you makes perfect sense. You're my best friend" Arizona lifts her head and our lips meet, as the song goes on around us, we stand there kissing. Even though we just had each other not even a half hour ago, I feel myself getting worked up again. Around us, Callie and Maggie have joined, Sofia and Zola were trying to dance as good as they could and Barbara and Daniel along with Richard and Catherine, I wasn't sure when she arrived, but I was happy she was here. We had our family, and I was finally happy, like extremely happy for the first time in… Forever. That thought was crazy, Derek made me happy, I was so in love with him. But the way I feel about Arizona, that's, that's completely different than the love I had for him. Maybe because I'm older now, and I know what it's like to lose the one you thought you'd be spending the rest of your life with. Or maybe it's because my wife is the most amazing person alive and would do anything in her power to make sure everyone around her was taken care of before herself. She's proven that over the years I've known her. Excluding the time it took her to recover from the plane crash. I don't think either of us will ever be completely over that. Shit she's got a daily reminder of it. The song had changed, and we are now sitting at the table with Barbara and Daniel, Callie had joined along with Maggie, I laugh, they hadn't been far apart all day, but yet no one has confessed anything, but I knew. The sun was creeping lower in the sky, and the lights were turned on so we could see. I saw someone come out of the house out of the corner of my eye, I turned to get a better look, but they had moved away. It could have been anyone, but I could tell it was a man, maybe just Jackson, I turn and see him sitting next to April with Harriet in his lap laughing. Maybe Ben? No I just heard him laugh from behind me. "it couldn't be"
"what's that dear?" Barbara asked hearing me, Arizona who is on my left, is in conversation with April about something "nothing" I smile "I just" and I couldn't say anymore when I hear "Meredith" the voice was one I hadn't heard in a long time. My heart stopped as everything went silent, turning my head I lock eyes with him… And I squeak out "Derek"
