It's time for the games to begin! The 50 competitors will begin the most BIZARRE race they'll ever see. Those who have read the Steel Ball Run manga will know this. The first stage of the race is a 1.5 kilometer blitz from the San Diego beach to the Santa Maria Church.
The Heavy and the Scout run out of town to find a long line of 50 horses up and ready for use.
"Let's go! We have to find well bred horses!" Heavy yelled out.
"I'm already on it!" Scout sprinted forward to check the horse.
As the two rushed to find horses, the bender team leave the town.
"Come on, Toph, you ride with me!" Katara offered.
"I'll make sure we get the best horses." Zuko said.
"Boy, I hope Sokka and Aang could see this!" Toph exclaimed.
After the bender team, the South Park kids sprint out of the town as well. Well… almost all of them sprinted.
"Oh come on, fatass! Is this really the time to bring 7 bento boxes?!" Kyle yelled at Cartman, who was indeed carrying 7 bento boxes. "We already have enough for the each of us!"
"You're just jealous you didn't get the most bento boxes, you stupid Jew!" Cartman insulted.
"Is 7 bento boxes even gonna stay on the horse?" Kenny asked.
"Yeah, you're gonna need a huge bag compared to what we have right now." Wendy commented.
The rest of the competitors storm out of the town, and quickly began to get their horses ready with their supplies. When enough time has passed, the Golden Voice appeared in front of the starting light.
"This is a bea-utiful sight to behold!" The Golden Voice exclaimed. "All 50 contestants ready to get their gears into action!"
"Just get on with it. I will win that time bonus." Octane exclaimed.
"Ha! No chance, dude!" Lynn yelled.
"Oh my! This will be fun!" Inspector Gadget exclaimed.
"Huh, for once I agree with you." Talon commented.
"I would like to give some more information about this stage." The Golden Voice announced. "Since the first checkpoint is at the old Santa Maria Church which is a kilometer and a half away from the beach, the fighting will be prohibited. Anyone who commences combat will be given a two hour time penalty, which works opposite to the time bonus."
"Hah, I'd like to see you try to pull of any shit." MacArthur turned to Josee.
"Fuck off and arrest a worm for tresspassing or something." Josee snarled.
"How about you guys calm down. This isn't the time for banter." Clyde said.
"To get to the church quickly, you'll have to ride straight to a dried up river with a bridge. Once you pass that, you'll be met with a thick forest, and you'll have to go around that before reaching a downhill slope that leads to a barn. Once you turn east at the barn, the church will be a quick sprint away." The Golden Voice explained the directions. "Now with all that said and done, it's time for the race!"
Paul and Law fistbump each other before bracing themselves.
"Ready…"
Carmen was seen brushing the mane of her horse.
"Set…"
Mirage was seen summoning holograms of himself to look like a cheerleading pyramid.
"Go!"
Once that singular word has filled the air, sounds of gallops followed suit. The race is on, and all 50 competitors began to sprint across the barren land and away from the San Diego Beach.
Before anyone could decide on when to charge forth, Aloy trudged ahead from the crowd, slowly gaining distance away from the mass of riders and the dust that trailed from behind.
"Wow. Someone's determined." Gwen exclaimed upon seeing this.
"Well well well, the rush is on, flame hair." Octane reaches into his pouch for a stim pack.
Octane, Paul and Josee began to speed up to try and gain the lead from Aloy. The four leaders began to drift away from the rest of the competition, causing the rest to rethink their strategy.
"Do you guys think we should catch up?" Steve asked.
"We need that time bonus, but we can't stay with the leaders the whole time." Jim stated. "Marinette, what do you have for this?"
"My ability is the power of creation. It's an ability that gives me an item I need at any given moment." Marinette stated. "Unfortunately, it's one time use and depowers after use for a set amount of time."
"We'll save that for later. But for me, none of my abilities have use unless its for combat." Jim stated.
"So what we have to do is conserve our horses' energies until the final sprint." Steve stated. "We save your creation ability until the time is right."
Josee was seen tailing Aloy, who noticed the Ice Dancer gaining ground towards her.
"Alright, what's your deal, flame hair?" Josee asked.
"What does it look like? I'm gonna win this race." Aloy said with a serious tone. "I'm winning for the prize, not for the podium."
"Hmph, it seems we won't get along. The podium is everything, and I will take gold." Josee stated. "What are you even gonna do with the fate prize?"
"I'm gonna need it in my world. It's something you won't understand." Aloy stated.
"You're just making me want to take the gold podium away from you even more!" Josee yelled.
Inspector Gadget breaks off from the large group to catch up with the leaders. Though it doesn't seem like he's focusing on the race.
"Hopefully this race will lead me to a leprachaun. That might boost my luck for this race." Inspector Gadget aloofly stated.
Suddenly, Inspector Gadget spotted Octane injecting his horse with a stim pack. This causes the horse to speed up with increased adrenaline.
"Ooh, what timing! A leprachaun blessing his horse with leprachaun magic!" Inspector Gadget mistakened Octane for a leprachaun. "I have to follow him for the magic to stick to me."
Inspector Gadget followed Octane as the daredevil nears Josee and Aloy. As this happened, the mass of riders behind them began to be elongated and became more of a line, with Kenny and Cartman at the very back. The bento boxes the fat kid was carrying was the cause of this.
"Dude, speed up, we have to get to the others." Kenny stated. "We warned you not to bring 7 bento boxes without proper storage. Now carrying it is blocking your sight and putting you in dead last."
"Are you jealous as well, Kenny? I didn't know poor people had an appetite for bento boxes!" Cartman exclaimed.
"You're in dead last, I'm trying to keep you in the game as well." Kenny stated.
"Keep fooling yourself, Kenny. I will not give you any of my bento boxes." Cartman stated.
"Fuck this!" Kenny yelled out.
Seeing there's no way to get this kid to listen, Kenny charges his horse forward, making his way around the crowd and meeting up with Stan, Kyle and Wendy somewhere in the middle.
"Where's the fatass?" Stan asked.
"He's not listening to me when I say he's in dead last." Kenny explained.
"Great, that would hinder us if he were in our alliance." Wendy stated. "We have to go on our own without Cartman if any of us want a chance of being in the Top 5."
"We should also get someone with us. Almost everyone is in an alliance of some kind, and I don't think anyone would want to partner up with us kids." Stan stated.
"That's right. We need to make an impact in this first stage to grab other people's attention." Wendy stated.
"How do we do that?" Kyle asked.
"We grab the first time bonus. No questions asked." Kenny stated.
To the kids' surprise, Kenny puts his horse into gear, seperating from the mass of riders to catch up with the rest of the leaders.
"What?! He's going to what?!" Kyle exclaimed.
"Grab the first time bonus. Come on, we have a better chance of grabbing it if we all catch up with the leaders." Stan stated.
"Alright." Wendy nodded.
The three also move, but not as fast as Kenny seemed to be going. The kid in the orange parka passed Inspector Gadget, Paul and Octane with seemingly little effort.
"Huh?!" Paul exclaimed.
"This is ridiculous!" Octane exclaimed.
Kenny flips off Octane before advancing towards Aloy and Josee. Aloy was still hanging on to the lead and Josee was directly on her tail. The two women were surprised to see the kid so close to them.
"What?! What universe are you from where kids like you know how to ride?!" Josee exclaimed.
"If you come from a town like mine, you experience a loooot of things." Kenny stated.
Aloy was just confused and slightly amused by this interaction. But this faded as Kenny completely passed Josee and was neck and neck with her.
"Well, you're an interesting one, I suppose. But I'm winning this race." Aloy stated.
"We'll see about that. It's good to see you're not as impulsive and angry as that bitch over there." Kenny stated.
"I heard that!" Josee yelled.
"Well, I guess some humble competition is a breath of fresh air. But that will not stop me from winning this." Aloy stated.
"It's on, flame hair." Kenny exclaimed.
Seemingly with little effort, Kenny manages to pass Aloy, which baffles the other two leaders.
"What the?! This is ridiculous!" Josee yelled out.
"How is he doing that?" Aloy questioned.
As this happened, Aloy notices that Kenny hasn't taken his eyes off her horse. Despite being in the lead, he's being attentive to the horse.
"What?" Aloy exclaimed. "My horse? He's observing my horse?"
"Anything that lives has a habit, and any habit could be a weakness in the eyes of the attentive." Kenny stated.
"Habit? My horse's habit?" Aloy was confused by this.
Determined to get an answer, Aloy activates her Focus and scans where Kenny was focused on. The Focus deduces that Kenny was looking at the horse's muzzle.
"What? The muzzle?" Aloy exclaimed. "Is… is he looking at the horse's breathing?"
The Focus scans for any abnormalities within the horse's breathing, and Aloy gets an answer she didn't expect.
According to what the Focus had picked up, the horse's head swayed slightly to the left every eight breaths it takes. She then notices the speed of the horse slightly dropping every time it swayed its head.
"It's head sways every eight breaths. And every time that happens, you speed up." Aloy noted. "That's what you're doing right now, isn't it?"
"Yeah, you're quick to learn." Kenny stated. "But what's with that metal Dorito on your head?"
"It is a Focus. A second sight as people from my world call it." Aloy stated. "And I'll use this to win the race."
Aloy notices that the dried up river just ahead, and the bridge was directly in front of them. She also noticed that both Kenny and Josee were too busy to notice; the former trying to time her horse's breaths and the latter trying to pass the huntress.
"Well, I guess I have to pull out my trump card for this." Aloy stated.
"Hah! What do you have that doesn't involve fighting?!" Josee taunted.
"This." Aloy pulled the strap that can control the horse.
Aloy quickly stopped her horse, baffling Kenny and Josee. During this lapse in attention, the two leaders crash on the sides of the bridge, causing the front of the bridge to be destroyed.
"Whoa! Not what I was expecting!" Aloy exclaimed.
Josee lands in the dried river face first. She pulls herself up and throws away the dirt in her face.
"That clever motherfucker." Josee seethed in anger.
As the Ice Dancer regained her bearings, Aloy's horse leaps across the dried up river and continues riding forth. Octane, Paul and Inspector Gadget followed after her.
"Great. And where's the kid in the parka?" Josee exclaimed.
"Kenny?! Where are you buddy?!" Kyle yelled out as Stan and Wendy arrived at the river.
Kenny's hand springs up from the rubble. Stan pulls the kid out of the rubble and throws him to his horse.
"Dude, how'd you do that?" Kyle asked.
"That wasn't how I imagine that would go." Kenny commented.
"Well on the bright side, we might've gotten the attention of a lot of the others." Wendy stated.
"That is what we're trying to do, right?" Stan asked. "It looks like the rest are coming, we better move."
As the South Park kids went on to charge, Josee frantically finds her horse before seeing it a good distance away.
"Here we go." Josee smiled.
Just as Josee was about to head for the horse, Izzy bumps into her. The Ice Dancer spun in a daze.
"What the? Hey! Watch your-" Josee stopped her sentence in confusion.
Josee was baffled as she saw Izzy blitz away from her… without a horse. The crazy redhead was sprinting wild with just her legs and her crazyness alone.
"I'm coming for you, leprachaun!" Izzy had mistaken Octane as a leprachaun as well.
"What the?" Josee raised an eyebrow at this.
While some things have changed, other things have stayed the same. Like the fact Izzy decided to run the entire race (similar to Sandman from the manga). What else will stay the same? Find out next time!
