Damian's Sudden Exploration in Chaldea (Chapter 5)

Damian's POV

Uh, how did I end up here? I was at the Spiritron Hall earlier talking to Olga herself and that creep dude, then something about her made me go back here? I suddenly winced when I realized that I got slapped by her, did I pass out? I stand up and noticed Mash was approaching me

"Hey, how are you feeling?" She asked me, "Director Olga knocked you out when you said something bad to her, she probably didn't like that. Anyway, you have to go back there if you truly want to-" Mash was suddenly cut off when an alarm started blaring from the halls

"What just happened? Mash?" I asked her, and she looked back at me calmly.

"Something must've happened at the Hall, we should-" just then, an explosion occurred at the Spiritron Hall. Mash and I hurriedly ran there to catch up. I saw Olga lying down on the floor, unconscious. Mash approached her, "Director Olga! Please wake up," she calls for, Olga winced before opening her eyes.

"An explosion occurred, how come I or the other staff weren't aware of it?" She hisses at the pain as she tries to sit up

"You're badly hurt, but don't worry, I'll call for help." Mash pointed

"It's… no use, everyone was here when the explosion happened. All the 48 candidates got crushed," Olga weakly says, "Or so I thought, even Lev got involved." On the far side of the hall, I can faintly hear someone. Perhaps Fou? I leaped through the room and found Fou outside the hall

"Fou! Are you all right?" I called out to it

"Fou! (Yes!) Kyuu…(But the rest…)" Fou sadly answered, "Fou! (But!) Kyau! (I found Doctor Romani!)" Fou added

"You did? Where is he?" Just as soon as I finished asking, the whole room started to violently shake.

"This is getting out of hand, we should start unsummoning," Olga says to Mash

"But, Director! What about the state of Chaldea?"

"Then, would you rather get stuck here or what?!" Fou jumped up and sat on my head as I rush back to them

"Wait, why are you wanting to unsummon? What the hell is that?" I asked them, Olga groaned.

"We don't have much time, we have to do this." She muttered and then did something

"What is happening, wait, I'm confused. Mash?" I called for her

"I'll tell you everything once we do, now hold onto me." Mash lends her hand out to me, but I stepped back.

"I don't know what will happen if I did come with you-" She cuts me off

"If you want to see Safe Haven again, you have to come with me. Trust me," Mash says, without a fleeting thought, I held her hand and the both of us were suddenly shifted.

"Unsummoning Program Starting: Rayshift Programming…" an announcer said and I felt all of myself suddenly dispersing. I don't know how long I was out but I was hearing something… or someone. But this feels like home, a burning place, with the smell of charred things. I just want to

"Fou… Fou!" it sounds familiar, it licked my cheek. It stopped all of a sudden when it heard footsteps, then someone was approaching me.

"Damian. Please wake up, Damian." A woman's voice, "I will kill you if you won't wake up, Damian." As soon as she finished saying that, my eyelids went open wide and my eyes locked on Mash. I thought it was Tentadora at first, but no, I'm still with her.

"Why the hell would you say that to someone unconscious?" I asked her, but she seemed to be shrugging it off and picked me up to stand up.

"Thank goodness, you're awake Damian. I'm so glad you're safe." Mash deflected my question.

"Did you just say I will kill you? How inhumane of you," I said to her, Mash started blushing and then immediately explained.

"Sorry, I think that came out wrong. What I meant was, 'is that you're going to be killed if you're not going to wake up.'" I sighed in relief as she finished explaining, "I was just confused because everything happened so quickly, and as much as I want to gather our thoughts — I want you to look around." As I did, it was never my hometown, but it feels the same.

"Well, it's just like my home — desolate." Mash looked at me sadly, "If you're thinking if my home was burned, then you're wrong. It has been like that ever since, I live in hell." I pointed at myself to remind her, and she just nodded. I was suddenly greeted by something ghastly and it never surprised me, looking at it boorishly, Mash yanks me out of it. Which surprised me there.

"Linguistic communication impossible — Life-form identified as hostile, stay behind me, Damian." I didn't even recognize that Mash was wielding a cross-like shield that is almost the height of her, "You and I will overcome this together! I need your orders, Damian." I approached the creature and tried to hit it, the skull was a little tough but another punch crushed the whole monster. But a skeleton-crew came through, hah, get it?

"You'll take the other one, I'll handle this guy. Okay?" I asked Mash, who was quite stunned by my action, "Mash, get it together!" I called for her and she raised her shield when the monster suddenly attacked her, even if I'm little, I can still kick this boney ass to the ground!

"Damian, can you handle yourself?" She asked as she positioned herself in a defensive stance as another skeleton appeared, "Master, I need your orders!" I stood in shock when she called me 'Master', and as I stepped back and thought of a strategy. Looking at the enemies, there are only two skeletons present. They look scrawny as well.

"Let them near you! Then start swinging, I'm sure they'll disintegrate in no time!" I ordered Mash and she nodded, as she waited for the two skeletons to approach her, she slid the shield on her side before swinging heavily at the creatures. Their bones may be tough but one swing from Mash's shield easily cracks from there. They start turning into ashes as soon as she plunges her shield into their hardy bones, with a satisfying crack, the battle ends.
