Isaac and Akashi finished their breakfast quickly.
"Would Shikikan like to get started building his fleet, nyaa?" Akashi asked.
"I think that would be a good idea. I have an idea of how to, so can you go and make sure we have supplies to sustain a fleet containing a Battleship and an Aircraft Carrier?" Isaac asked as he finished his glass of water.
"Akashi will get right on it. Akashi used to have a shop, so Akashi is good at inventory, nyaa." Akashi spoke.
"Thats good! Let's get going. We're burning daylight." Isaac said as he stood and took the pouch of cubes from the table.
"I wonder who will pop out of these." Isaac asked himself as he entered the warehouse containing the lab.
"I still don't understand fully, but i know the cube goes here." Isaac spoke as he put a cube in the center of the pad. He then looked at the screen.
"2 hours." The screen read. Isaac hit the start button and watched the time begin to tick away.
Isaac wandered the warehouse a bit before sitting in a dusty steel chair.
"This is insane. I'm recreating living beings to fight a one man war? Against aliens who seek to enslave humanity." Isaac said as he rested, brooding in the thoughts of his insane predicament.
Akashi came in when the timer was down to 5 minutes. She looked around and quickly found Isaac asleep in his chair.
"Shikikan... you shouldnt sleep in here, you'll catch cold, nyaa." Akashi said softly as she poked his face.
"Hmm?" Isaac groaned as he awoke slowly. The beeping from the machine fully waking him.
"Looks like the wait is over. Time to meet the owner of ... that." Isaac said as he pointed out into the drydock where a cruiser sat awaiting orders. Akashi looked happy.
"It's Omaha-san, Shikikan. Lots of guns, AA, and even torpedos. What a lucky day, nyaa!" Akashi exclaimed.
"Oh? That good?" Isaac asked.
"Omaha is strong and friendly, but Akashi likes her because she has green hair, nyaa." Akashi said proudly.
"I see. Her hull looks a bit dated but im sure we have tools and material to beef her up a bit." Isaac said.
"I'm sure Omaha would like that." Akashi spoke as Isaac pressed the 'Finish' button. As with Akashi, a tube slowly emerged from the floor containing a woman with lime green shoulder-length hair. The tube opened and Isaac rushed forward to catch the surprisingly light woman who fell forward.
"It's Omaha, nyaa!" Akashi spoke happily as she rushed to hug the now conscious woman who was sitting on the floor of the warehouse.
"Hmm? Akashi? What happened?" Omaha asked as she looked around.
"The sirens... won." Akashi said sadly.
"Won?! We had them on the ropes! We even sent Enterprise and Essex to the North to bombard their stronghold! How did they win?!" Omaha exclaimed angrily.
"They had a superweapon. From what it looks like, it eliminated the Kansen, leaving only their cubes behind." Isaac poked into the conversation.
"And you are?" Omaha asked.
"Isaac. Isaac Garner. Pleased to meet you, Omaha." Isaac spoke.
"Likewise! So youre the commander, now?" Omaha asked.
"I guess so. But lucky for everyone here, im a mechanic and an engineer. So i can help repair and upgrade too." Isaac said.
"Awesome! The last commander couldnt do any of that!" Omaha stated.
"Yeah... thing is. This island is the only friendly territory anywhere. Sirens have enslaved the world and im sure i am the only one who escaped." Isaac said as his head hung low.
"Sounds like quite a predicament. What will you do?" Omaha asked. Isaac looked at her.
"I want vengence. My only desire is to destroy those stupid aliens. They murdered my family and left me all alone. They thought they could just take over without consequences. I want them to see that humanity isn't finished yet." Isaac said as he placed two cubes on the pad.
"Omaha. Get your ship ready and prepare to perform a patrol. Nothing gets through, okay? It takes time for me to get you guys back on your feet. So I need you to buy us time." Isaac said.
"Aye, commander." Omaha called as her rigging came forth with her salute. Her hips were graced with several main batteries, casemate guns and strips of her hull. She wore a small white shirt that exposed her midriff and short shorts that barely covered her underwear.
"Interesting choice of clothing." Isaac thought aloud.
"A lot of union girls dress like that, Shikikan. Does that surprise you, nyaa?" Akashi asked.
"Yeah. Its not like anything the human women in the union wear. These girls wear the equivalent of swimsuits as normal attire. Its just not something im used to. I'll be fine, Akashi." Isaac spoke.
"Moving on, nyaa. Next ship." Akashi said as Isaac pushed the button.
"This says it'll take four and a half hours. Maybe I'll go out with Omaha and have her do a maintainence run while we patrol the island. Can you hold down the fort until I return?" Isaac asked.
"Hai, Shikikan." Akashi spoke as Isaac walked to where Omaha was resting in dry dock, waiting for the water to raise her hull. Isaac grabbed a toolbox and ran up the gangway to her upper deck.
"Omaha! I'm ccoming aboard." Isaac yelled.
Silence.
"Omaha?" Isaac shouted as Omaha peeked out from below deck, her face covered in soot and oil.
"Commander? What are you doing here?" Omaha asked.
"I'm here to help you with maintenance. We're gonna do a test run to ensure all of your systems are 100%." Isaac said.
"I see. Well, please be careful." Omaha asked kindly as Issac followed her below deck.
"Why is there so much water down here?" Isaac asked as his feet sloshed around the boiler room.
"My hull was laid down in the 20's, commander. Theres bound to be some leaky joints after 25 years." Omaha stated sadly.
"I see. Well get me some steel sheets, you girls are superhumanly strong, right?" Isaac asked.
"No... what do you think of us as, monsters? If strength is what you want, get a battleship or the bulins. Now they are monsters, in a strength point of view." Omaha said.
"I see. Well i see some pieces you've stripped from elsewhere. I can use those, right?" Isaac asked.
"I don't see why not. I just took the shields off the engine. The Omaha class cruisers had a bad tendency to overheat and even melt engine components under battle situations. I figured id strip away some of the heat shielding since it would keep it cooler, and I have no crew to protect from the heat." Omaha said.
"Quite the intelligent play. I'm gonna shear it into strips and weld them over the leaky parts of the hull. Should also help with structural integrity." Isaac stated.
"Oh. Okay. I think theres enough here to fix all of the leaky joints and add an extra centimeter of plate to the front hull." Omaha stated.
"Maybe, but repairs first. I'd rather use actual armor rated steel to bolster your all around protection rather than using construction steel to just add weight and make you top heavy." Isaac joked.
"Hey! That isnt funny, commander." Omaha cried, hugging her chest.
"Oh relax, Omaha. By the time we do our maintainence run, we'll have another ship in the fleet so you wont have to put up with me forever." Isaac said.
"I didnt say i didnt like it..." Omaha muttered under her breath as she went to find more ways to improve her ship.
Isaac got right to work, welding and bending steel under torch and hammer until the last weld sealed the hull.
"Omaha! Prepare to set sail for a maintainence run!" Isaac yelled as he could feel the engine roar to life.
