CHAPTER 12
Upon arriving in Adharc (horn), it was very dark and cold outside. The nights were getting terribly bitter cold. Sarah dismounted the horse and went with her belongings into the inn. It was full of dancing, drinking and singing people. The music stopped dead when she walked into the place. She walked up to the innkeeper behind the counter and asked for a room for two nights. The innkeeper gave her a key and she paid him. She went up to the room and deposited her bags and wished the room secured.
She headed back down to get her horses and there were three men surrounding them trying to lead them off to the road. Sarah grabbed her bow on her sling on her back.
She pulled the arrow back and yelled, "One fucking move and your dead!" The men froze. She whispered a wish to freeze them. People were filing out of the inn to see what the ruckus was outside.
Sarah whistled loud and shouted, "Midnight! Raven! Come!" Midnight jerked back releasing his reins from the man who had them in his hand, he took the reins of Raven's captor in his teeth, yanking them out of his hand and slowly led Raven back to Sarah being careful not to step on his own reins. Sarah put her arrow away and put her bow on her back. She took his reins and Raven's reins from his teeth.
She patted them both saying, "You did good both of you."
The innkeeper said, "They are not from here and don't have a room in the inn. Horse thieves are killed when caught in the Unicorn Kingdom. I would prefer you did it in the woods, less messy." Sarah took her horses to the blacksmith in the stable and asked him to unsaddle her horses and keep them for two nights. She gave him three gold . He agreed to do it for her.
Sarah walked out to the three frozen men and wished them to stay bound but follow her into the woods. She took everything off their bodies of value and wished them to tell her the truth. Sarah asked, "Where are your horses and belongings?"
The tallest fae with red hair said, "Back in the woods at our camp."
Sarah asked, "Is there more thieves in your band of men?"
The pale blonde man said, "Yes."
Sarah asked, "How many?"
The third darker blonde said, "Three others."
Sarah said, "Lead the way" The thieves or highwaymen started walking in a direction. After a while they came up to a camp. Sarah wished everyone in the camp bound there. They started swearing and shouting profanity. Then they started shouting at the three men walking into camp with the stranger. There was a wagon with a tarp over whatever was inside. They had a horse team and tents set up.
Sarah shouted over the yelling, "Shut up, fools, or I'll give you something to scream about!" Her kittens were frightened and her dragon was burrowing into her hair.
Sarah said, "I 'wish' for all valuables and weapons that these six men have in their possession to be transferred to my rented room at the inn." The tarp deflated on the wagon and unseen all that was in the tents or on the men disappeared.
Sarah said out loud, "I 'wish' all six of these men had no magic, were never able to commit a crime and were human females with their clothing with personal grooming items and ten gold on each of them dropped in the middle of Bláth." They screamed when they changed and had their magic ripped from them before they disappeared. Sarah wished all of their camping supplies, wagon, tents and horses to be given to people who deserve them. Sarah put out the fire and walked back to the inn.
When she walked in, the innkeeper asked, "Are they taken care of?" Sarah nodded and asked for a tray with two wines and dinner. She walked up with the tray to her room. When she opened the door, she was in shock at all of the stuff in her room. It was a hoard of treasure in trunks and crates. Sarah locked the door, hung her cloak on the doorknob and sat on the bed. She put her dinner on the little table, set up the litter box and started a fire. She put the kittens in the litter box and made up their food with extra for the baby dragon.
She called the dragon by his name, "Indigo, come on and eat, my little one." The little dragon slowly crawled down her arm. Sarah put him in front of the bowl of food and petted him. The kittens climbed up the bed covers, Sarah reached for her food and they all ate dinner. Sarah had to share a tidbit with all three of them.
Sarah set up her bath stuff and sleep wear. She undressed after heating water for the tub. Once she was bathed and in her nightshirt with another log on the fire, she started looking into everything in the trunks and crates. There were two trunks full of mixed coins and gemstones. Sarah wished all coins
and gemstones of their stuff into her amulet. There were bags of gold and silver nuggets, ore and dust. Sarah figured they must have ambushed a prospector or a transport from a mine. She wished it all to fit into her amulet. The rest was jewelry bags, boxes and a big trunk of gold and silver goblets, cups, platters, tea sets and candelabras. Sarah wished them all into nuggets with the gemstones into her amulet. She also wished all jewelry into her amulet. It took in everything so she just wished away the trunks and crates to people who needed them.
Sarah laid down and all three of her babies came running to her. The kittens got in position and the dragon laid his body lengthwise against Sarah's skin and his stomach side around the kittens. They were all purring and she patted them telling them goodnight.
—--day 44
Sarah woke up and did her morning routine of going to the bathroom, feeding everyone and getting dressed. Sarah put more coins into her purse for stocking up on food. She took all her little boy dragon and kittens with her to breakfast. She was sitting there eating her breakfast as the kittens popped up for a taste.
Sarah said, "You want your taste?" They mewed. She fed them a bit of mutton steak and she felt Indigo coming around to her shoulder. She held up a tidbit to her shoulder and he gently took it into his mouth. Sarah said, "You're a good boy, Indigo." The innkeeper was shocked to see her feed her animals. The wyrmling dragon was the biggest shock.
The innkeeper was dressed in all green leather pants and vest with a cream cotton heavy shirt. He has green eyes and dark blonde hair in a ponytail down his back. He asked her, "Where did you get all your animals?" Sarah felt the dragon go back to the base of her neck and get comfortable snuggling. He would rub his face on her skin like a cat would. It was so adorable to Sarah.
Sarah said, "The kittens I found in the snow a few weeks back. They are eight weeks old now. The pseudodragon I found on a mountain top in a nest. I thought it could be dead from the cold but I started warming it up and it started moving inside until it hatched yesterday morning."
The fae innkeeper said, "That's unusual, most of us fae do not bother with animals."
Sarah said, watching her words with him, "That may be true, but I come from far away and am not like the fae here I have discovered. I care and I am fair when dealing with people, but not a fool to test."
The innkeeper was surprised at her answer and said, "Good to know." More people came up for food. Sarah finished and left from the market to the bakery. She even saw a fur coat that had a big cowl hood. It was made of gray wolf pelts. She bought it because it was about three quarter-length to the calves of her legs.
Sarah stocked up on everything and was eating roasted chestnuts and warm cinnamon candied walnuts. She wished for a couple apples and went to visit her horses. She fed them each an apple quartered, told them they were very brave last night and she was proud of them. They both nickered and she scratched and patted them both. They both hugged her and the dragon curled up to avoid getting squished. Sarah chuckled at them. She took her bags of stuff to the inn room and organized it all for the morning.
—--day 45
Sarah woke up the next morning with her little babies snuggled up together with her. She loved how sweet and affectionate they all were with herself and each other. They were her little loves. She reached up and petted each one to wake them up and said, "Come my little ones. Time to wake up." The kittens stretched and the dragon did the same, copying them. It was so adorable.
Sarah got up leaving her babies on the bed and went to the bathroom. She folded all her clothes off the clothesline, fed the little ones and packed up everything getting dressed while she braided her hair. She saw Indigo go over to the litter box. He stepped in and went to the bathroom. When she sat on the bed, Indigo scurried up the covers and over to her to crawl up her arm. She petted him and kissed his little head. He purred so loud for a little guy. He crawled up to her neck rubbing on her. Sarah said softly to him, "You such a loving baby, Indigo."
Sarah kissed and packed up the kittens in the pouch after they went to the bathroom. Sarah dumped the box out the window and packed it up after wiping it out. She put on her fur coat this time because she wanted Indigo warm enough as they traveled because he was a cold-blooded lizard creature. He needed body contact and warmth. Sarah went down to get breakfast.
She sat down on the end of the counter and ordered tea and breakfast. She fed the kittens and dragon a tidbit each and ate every bite. She went back up to the room and got her baggage and dropped off the key to the innkeeper. She got the horses packed up and fed them both carrots and apples. They were headed to the town of Iontas (surprise).
Sarah was riding and watching her surroundings. She heard a little voice inside of her mind say, "Mama… Love…" It startled Sarah. It had to be Indigo. He was talking to her.
Sarah said, "Mama loves you too, Indigo, my little boy." She reached up with her glove and patted him gently. He suddenly started purring real hard. Sarah couldn't believe she could communicate with him so soon. The voice was so sweet and gentle in her mind like a little child. She was smiling.
After a while, Sarah was looking for a site to set up camp. There was an old brick block building in the middle of nowhere. The door was open and off its hinges and some of the windows were exposed but the roof was solid brick and it had a fireplace. Why nobody lived in it was beyond Sarah's understanding. She rode around it and saw a good place for the horses in the back with a solid overhanging porch that was ground level. Sarah cleaned up the interior and the fireplace with magic. The back porch was cleared to make a comfortable place so the horses were safe. She used wood to block up the windows solidly and put the door repaired back in its place Sarah set up her tent in front of the fireplace and found a grate and a kettle in the house. Sarah wished for anything of value to appear before her by her feet. She was just checking but thought maybe something happened in this house for it to be as torn up as it looked to begin with. Four very very old wooden boxes appeared at her feet.
Sarah set up camp inside and got the fire going in the fireplace. She had the horses setup with food and comfort. She wished the two sides of the porch boarded up to block the snow and wind from them. She secured the perimeter of the little house.
Sarah got everything cleaned and warm inside. She even wished for a table and chair. Sarah was cooking her dinner, roasting a rabbit on the fire and cooking vegetables in her pot with barley. She sat at the little table and ate her dinner in the comfortable chair she wished for. Her dragon and kittens were helping her eat her dinner. Sarah liked the little sturdy house. It was handy at the moment.
After she ate, she called Jareth and told him that she loved him. He told her that they were almost done setting her up as a daughter of a make-believe Lord from a distant place across The Sea Of Achar (The Sea Of Distance) who sent his daughter to this part of the realm and to the Goblin Kingdom after his death. She told him to let her know when she could come back to The Castle Beyond The Goblin City. She blew him a kiss.
The kittens were playing with their toys and tackling and rolling around on the floor. The little dragon crawled up on her shoulder as she started going through the boxes looking at what was inside. There was old magical jewelry, 15 bags of gold coins, an old fashioned brass oil lamp with no oil wrapped in crumbling layers of cloth, 10 bags of gold nuggets, and a box with ten glowing crystal points.
Sarah held up the lamp by the handle to look at it and Indigo hissed. She was in shock. She asked, "What is it, Indigo?" Sarah heard in her mind, "Bad!…. Djinn!" Sarah found a towel and wrapped it up so as not to accidentally rub the surface with her hand. Now she knew why someone would tear this place apart looking for this damn genie. She was surprised that Indigo knew the word djinn. Maybe dragons have generational stored knowledge. It will be incredibly fascinating to learn about him as he gets older.
Sarah dumped all of the gold coins and nuggets into her ring and put the old magical jewelry into her jewelry box and the box of crystals with it. She had the lamp wrapped up well and put in the bottom of one of her bags.
She got into her bedroll after taking off her boots and putting another log on the fire. The kittens came running when she called them and they crawled up to get warm and warm up the little dragon who was already waiting to wrap around them and against his mother. They all went to sleep.
Sarah dreamed…….
Sarah was standing in the middle of a desert at twilight looking at the horizon in its subtle beauty glowing in a rich amber. The stars were becoming visible spreading out across the heavens like a blanket of diamonds twinkling and flashing. It was an incredibly beautiful sight to witness. She profoundly was in awe. She looked down and noticed her feet were bare in the warm sand. Sarah had a gossamer iridescent fabric skirt with layers of gold coins as a belt on her hips and a golden bra made of gold coins in layers. Her back and stomach were exposed.
A very handsome dark haired man dressed in a dark blue fancy Victorian era fancy gold brocade vest, waistcoat and short pants with a white high collar buttoned up shirt, white stockings and buckled black shoes walked towards her across the sand arrogantly. He had a brocade golden turban on his head. He said, "It has been centuries that I have been entombed in the cellar walls of that tiny building. Thank you for getting me out of there, my beauty."
Sarah realized who and what he was from Indigo's warning. She asked, "You dare to pull me into a dream and invade my subconscious without permission? What was your crime for being turned into a djinn? I am your mistress now, so do not lie to me."
He looked worried. He said, "I had a sexual encounter with the Emir's sister his magician turned me into a djinn after many nights of torture in his chamber. He claimed I was an evil sorcerer that seduced his sister to enslaver her."
Sarah said, "I 'wish' this djinn would tell me the real truth of why he was turned into a djinn. Now tell me the unvarnished truth to my question?" The handsome genie flashed blue skin as he got angry. He had no defense against her magic.
He said, "I was a dark sorcerer that desired the Emir's sister and one night seduced her in her bed chamber to have my way with her for the night and I got carried away and cut her too deep in my sexual blood play and she died. The magician turned me into a djinn the next day. They knew it was me because I had been pressuring the Emir for his sister's hand in marriage."
Sarah asked, "Why did you kill her if you cared for her as a wife?"
He struggled to not answer, "B… Because she called me… v… vermin."
Sarah said, "Ah, I see. So you thought you loved her but when she would not cooperate you raped her and murdered her, because if you could not have her heart nobody would?"
He hung his head and said, "Yes."
Sarah said, "You are a selfish lustful man for power over everyone are you not?"
He said struggling, "Yes."
Sarah said, "You have no power over me. You will never invade my mind or interfere in my life or you will die. I do not need a cruel bastard like you in my life and have no desire for wishes to be granted when I have my own wish magic. You are of no benefit to me, so….." He looked terrified at the fae woman.
Sarah said, "What is your real name?"
He struggled hard and said, "S… Simon… M… Magus." Sarah was in shock. He was the Samarian magician of the Christian Bible. There were three different stories of what came of him. What the hell was he doing in the Underground?!
Sarah asked, "How did you get to the Underground?"
He said, "I was brought by a man named Merlin who was a human magician in my lamp. What are you going to do, Mistress?" Sarah couldn't believe it was Merlin who brought this creature with him here. It did get it out of the Aboveground but it was dangerous to keep it here to be found.
Sarah said, "I will have to think about it. Live in fear. I 'wish' to be released from this dream, this creature to never control any aspect of my life or of others and to have him bound encased in an inch thick completely impenetratable clear resin." The man howled as the dream faded.
