Chapter 3: Yellow's Seeing Red
I ate about sixty pounds of the buck's meat before I was full. Leaving the remains for some scavengers.
I head back to my home. As I was running through the tree I heard the sound of a girl laughing. Turning slightly to head toward the sound.
Stopping behind the tree line to a wide open field. The ground was covered in a layer of frost. A tall girl about seventeen winters. Her hands were straight out to ethersie. While spinning in circles laughing in roughly the center of the clearing.
I could not tell the color of the heir from my hiding spot. It was long reaching down to the bottom of her shoulder blades.
The light from the moon had already moved further down the horizon. Shifting my eyes to see clearer, would make them glow giving me away.
I watched as the girl suddenly stopped spinning. To face the spot I was hiding. That is when I saw her eyes. They were black with no whites. I continued to watch her very carefully. If she started towards me I would need to know where to run.
She took a step forward. I was ready to shift form. A force hit my mind. Using my thought projection, I mentally shoved the intruder back and closed the door to my mind.
The girl staggered back. Like I slammed a door in her face. The look of shock the girl had was great. So she had some kind of mind power.
I could not use my mental power without the girl getting in. I shifted all my senses up. My eyes, going to their max sharpness. Making them glow bright violet, ears able to pick up the sound from a house eight miles away.
That is how I sense the other two standing to my right. A very low voice said. "Jasper, do you want to try that red wolf? The one distracted by our little sister."
"No Emmett, I don't think I can do this." "Ok wait here."
I hear the one called Emmett jump forward. Flying threw the air to land on me. Is probably what he thought would happen, but I already moved.
"What the, where did you go? Jasper, did you see what it did." "Yes, Just as you jumped it also jumped back a good five feet."
"Jasper Emmett. Did you two see something over here?" "No, Why?" Asked Jasper. "Someone was watching me from over here. I could see them looking at me through their mind.
Then someone shoved me out of their mind. After getting butted out. The mind disappeared completely.
"Emmett you let a little red wolf get the best of you?" "No, I just wanted you to see how quick it moves. Now that it has a head start it's more fun." Emmett said, taking in the scent around him.
Turning he scented the spot I was standing at. "Jasper, you said it jumped back five feet. It's scent is only in the spot where it was standing. There is no new trail."
Jasper and the girl sniff the air around the spot. "Your Right, but that is impossible. Where the hell did it go?"
I look down eighty feet from the tree branch. Getting up here was easy. Tricking my scent is not so.
As the Emmett pushed off the ground. I jumped back five feet, to be safe. In his confusion of not landing on me. I darted forward and jumped thirty feet onto the trunk of the tree.
The one I was hiding behind. Digging my claws into the trunk and jumping across to another tree twenty feet higher. I did this all before He said "What the, where did you go."
Just as the Jasper was saying he jumped back five feet. I was settled on this third tree, I jumped to.
Looking down at the three people was a bit hard. When I jumped up, I shifted my form.
Still an average size wolf. My fur is now back to dark red. More closely brown to blend with the tree. I darkened my eyes back to non reflective Indigo. Making it harder for me to see in the dark.
After, what felt like forever. The three stop trying to track me down. They left the area. To find something else to hunt.
I Just stayed where I was until the sun started to creep up. So much for getting some sleep before the first day of high school. I Began my way down the tree. Hitting the ground. I took off running, for home.
