6th June

I made Harry, Krum and Dumbledore swear not to tell anyone. I wanted to remember who it was before making accusations. I swore, in return to immediately inform Dumbledore whenever I remembered. ("Even if it's 3am?" "Yes, Miss Pink.") I did, however, let Harry write to Sirius, he had been informed of everything so far and he had been updated regularly on my condition. Ron and Hermione essentially bullied the information out of me and George, well, I felt like I had to tell him. But I made him swear not to tell anyone, even Fred. He reluctantly accepted.

Over the weekend just past, Harry, Ron and Hermione spent it in the library searching for charms, hexes and defensive spells that could be used in the Third Task. When I offered my services, Harry point blank refused to let me help, "You have to recover. You have to give that memory of yours a chance!" He told me that he reckoned the person who attacked me, meant to attack him and that me 'resting and remembering' was all he could ask of me right now. He still felt guilty.

"And you're a week behind on class notes, Kathryn, you can join us next week." Hermione reminded me. So I spent the weekend sitting with George and at times The Rogues in the sun, underneath a particularly large tree. As Fred and George were mucking about doing normal Fred and George stuff, the rest of us were sunbathing with books and notes. I was delighted when I successfully used the 'accio' charm to summon one of George's sweets from his pocket, it was an extremely strong mint and I had to take it out of my mouth, I then banished it back to him. He popped it into his mouth and laughed at me, banishing an apple ball in my direction as a reward for my efforts.

On Sunday evening, I noticed that Ron was walking gingerly into the Common Room after dinner. "Can't we kidnap Mrs Norris and stun her for a bit? Or even Dobby, I'm sure he'd do anything to help-"

Hermione gave Ron a disapproving look.

"What?" Ron said, "You can't deny that your backside isn't sore!"

"I love walking into conversations at the opportune time for a good bit of innuendo." I giggled, taking a seat beside them, "I did notice you and Hermione were walking strangely… What have you two been up to, eh?"

Both Ron and Hermione looked at me with pure disgust.

"Thought so." I smiled.

Today Harry, Ron and Hermione excused themselves and left me with Fred, George and Ginny at lunch. I had a free period as Harry and Ron went to Divination and Hermione went to Arithmancy, I felt awfully lonely sitting in the library by myself as I started revision. Krum approached me at one point, but I assured him I hadn't had any brainwaves recently. He shrugged his massive shoulders and took a seat beside me as I got on with my work and he, his research.

They sat briefly at dinner before excusing themselves, just as they had done all weekend. They were being very mysterious and were deep in discussion. Harry did look a little pale, I supposed that he was getting nervous, but my instincts told me to follow them. George grabbed my hand as I got up, "Be careful."

I leaned down and whispered, "They won't see me coming." Then I kissed his cheek and followed quickly after Harry, Ron and Hermione.

As soon as I left the Great Hall I saw them head up to an empty transfiguration classroom. Harry started telling them that he had a dream when he collapsed in Divination. In the dream he flew into an old boarded up house on an owl's back. He saw the back of a chair, and a snake and Peter Pettigrew on the floor. The figure on the chair had a high pitched voice claimed that Wormtail had made a blunder but it didn't ruin everything. The figure then apologised to the snake, saying it couldn't eat Wormtail, but there was always Harry to eat. Then the figure then used the Cruciatus curse on Wormtail as punishment. As Wormtail screamed, Harry's scar seared with pain. The figure on the chair was Voldemort. When he realised that, he woke up.

"Then I went to see Dumbledore, because Snuffles said if my scar every hurt again I had to go straight to Dumbledore. I've written to him as well, before dinner…" Harry told Ron and Hermione.

When Harry was in Dumbledore's office, he came across a device called a pensieve, which allows individuals to watch their memories and their thoughts individually, by placing their face in the water-like substance. I found it particularly hard to imagine, but listened into the conversation nonetheless, taking a seat beside Ron, who was completely unaware of me being there.

The first memory he was transported to was the trial of a much younger Karkaroff, who had been in Azkaban as a convicted Death Eater. Crouch was the head judge and both Dumbledore and Moody were present. Karkaroff was on trial as he agreed to give names of Death Eaters in exchange for is freedom. He named Antonin Dolohov (who is already in Azkaban), Evan Rosier (who is dead), Travers, Mulciber, Rookwood (whom Crouch seemed interested in). Then Crouch was ready to send Karkaroff back to Azkaban but he pleaded, providing more names, including Severus Snape, who has been vouched for by Dumbledore. Apparently Snape was a death eater who re-joined our side at great personal risk, now being no more a death eater than Dumbledore himself.

The second memory was the trial of Ludo Bagman who had given information to the Death Eaters. Apparently unknowingly. He was acquitted of any crimes, due to his popularity at the time, Harry reckoned. The vote allowed Ludo to walk free.

The third memory, Harry claimed was the most interesting of the three. Four people were on trial this time, three of them, Harry said had hair as dark as mine and his, but the fourth person, who was less than 20 had straw like hair – Barty Crouch Jr. Hermione and Ron nodded, knowing where this was going. Crouch sent his only son to Azkaban along with the three others for a life sentence. Barty Crouch Jr was begging, pleading to his father, claiming that he was innocent, but Barty listened to none of it. "And now Barty Crouch Sr is dead…" Harry said, "Dumbledore said that my scar hurt both when Voldemort and I were close together and when he was experiencing a particularly strong urge of hatred…"

Ron winced at the sound of Voldemort's name.

"Dumbledore also mentioned that I wasn't the only person in correspondence with Sirius… So Dumbledore is talking to Sirius and I know Kathryn was talking to him whenever we last met up… I wish I could tell her all this without fear of her freaking out or something… You saw how she was last week…" Harry spoke of me as though he was genuinely concerned, "And I wish she would just tell me what she knew."

"I told you," I said, making myself visible again, Ron fell off the chair beside me in fright, "I only told you the part of the story you needed to know, I knew you'd do the right thing without me telling you the rest…"

Harry, Ron and Hermione stared at me, a mixture of shock, surprise and shame.

I folded my arms, "Did you ever plan on letting me in to all these secrets? Or were the three of you going to keep bunking me off?"

"But Kathryn…" Hermione began her explanation, "We just wanted to protect you…"

"Yeah, you've enough going on in your head at the minute," Harry said.

"And you and George seem to be getting on well," Ron mentioned.

"If you make up one more excuse I'm going to hex you all." I said, "I can't believe you guys would do this to me. Yes, perhaps telling me all this on Friday wouldn't have been great, Friday wasn't a good day for me, but Saturday was fine, Sunday was fine and today is still fine. I can perform spells now, just like I could before, but you wouldn't know that, because you've been avoiding me, for fear of breaking me? That's the worst excuse I've ever heard. I've been beaten, I've had bones broken, I've been attacked. Yeah, and now I've had part of my memory erased, but did you for once think that I might need to know this stuff? That it might help me to remember? I'm not some princess who needs protecting, I've never been that little girl. So I would appreciate it if you wouldn't make me feel like I'm unimportant."

We got chucked out of the classroom by Professor McGonagall who heard me giving the other three a fair good telling off. I did manage to get three apologies and a hug from Hermione, congratulating me on not taking any nonsense.

We continued the discussion in the Common Room, "So Dumbledore thinks Voldemort is gaining power again?" I asked.

Ron jumped on the spot, scowling at me, but I ignored him. Harry nodded.

"And he trusts Snape, even though he was a death eater?" Ron asked.

"Yes." Harry said.

Hermione added, "And Fudge reckons Madame Maxime attacked Crouch?"

Harry shrugged, "Yeah, but he's only saying that because Crouch disappeared near the Beauxbatons carriage."

"We never thought of her, did we?" Ron said slowly, "Let's say it this way… Kathryn's tall, Madam Maxime is undoubtedly a half-giant, and she doesn't want to admit it."

"Of course she doesn't, not with all that happened to Hagrid when Rita found out about his mother. Who needs that sort of prejudice? I'd say I had big bones before I'd tell the truth." Hermione said reasonably.

"Not being funny, but do you not think I would have seen her, though?" I suggested.

"Good point." Ron smiled, "But perhaps you did, and she didn't want you to remember?"

"Okay," I said, "But how likely do you think it was her, though? She's as likely as Krum, let's be honest."

Hermione shifted in her seat, "You don't think it was him, do you?"

I shook my head, "He had more honourable intentions that night."

George approached us carefully, "I just wanted to say goodnight, it's good to see you all being mischievous together again."

"I have no idea what you're going on about, Georgie." I said as he kissed my forehead. Hermione looked down at her watch and the two of us headed up to our dorm a few minutes later. "He really does like you, you know, Krum." I whispered. I could see Hermione's smile just before I turned the light off, "Night."

21st June

Ron, Hermione and I were three exams in and it was one of the last things on our minds. We spent most waking minutes with Harry practicing every charm, hex and defensive spell we could come across in preparation for the third task. Our charms exam quizzed us on a number of spells we had been practicing with Harry, by this stage it was almost second nature to us. Helping Harry was actually beneficial, even Hermione had given up on midnight revision!

Harry had refused to practice any hexes on me, I was in fairness taking my memory potion every day which made my hands a little shaky, but it wasn't half as bad as the day I was discharged. Instead, Ron and Hermione grew ever more jealous of my lack of bruising as I coached Harry, calling out scenarios, such as 'aragog is about to attack you' which followed by Ron getting taken off his feet. "Why don't you get up and fight him?" Ron challenged me, "You sitting there calling out scenarios like that…" Ron said after I suggested Ron was a dementor. "Harry…" Ron began, shoving me off my seat and sitting in it, "Kathryn has been demented and is trying to kill you, survive."

"Okay," I said, Hermione set pillows behind the two of us, "Fight me, Potter. Don't you dare go easy on me."

Harry smiled and we bowed to each other, Harry lifted his wand quickly and shouted, "PETRIFICUS TOTALUS!

I lifted my wand with equal speed and defended myself, "Protego." Harry's spell rebounded and he just about ducked out of the way before I shot back at him, "Stupefy."

Harry had also used the same spell against me, the two clashed in the air and splintered, one of them hitting Ron, and sending him flying. Trying not to laugh, I shot Harry a jelly legs jinx and he ended up on the floor, in a mess, laughing. "That's right." I said, restoring him, "Don't get distracted, Potter."

Turning my back to restore Ron, Harry said, "Locomotor Mortis" then he laughed as I fell face first to the ground, "Don't turn your back on the enemy, Pink."

I quickly unstuck my legs together and fired, "Engorgio skullus." Back at Harry, with hilarious results, "Don't be big-headed, Potter."

"Titillando" Harry shot back at me, and I burst into laughter as Harry had just hit me with the tickling hex, "What's so funny, Miss Pink?" he asked.

Tears were streaming from my eyes, "Okay, hahhahha, okay, Harry hahahahhahahah, you win!" I giggled until I was breathless.

Harry and I bowed to each other to signify the end of the duel, "I think you're ready."

24th June

It's the day of the third and final Triwizard Task and I woke with nervous excitement. We had worked so hard very Harry over the last few weeks to train him and prepare him for what was within the maze. At breakfast, the entire Gryffindor table was full of beans, wishing Harry well and fantasising what was to come this evening. The owl post brought a good luck card for Harry from Sirius – with his muddy paw print on the front. Hermione received her usual copy of the Daily Prophet, which landed between us. She opened the paper up and spat out a mouthful of pumpkin juice all over it.

"What?" Harry, Ron and I all stared at her.

Hermione tried to hide the paper, "Nothing…" Ron and I both made a swipe to snatch it off her, but Ron beat me to it.

"No way, not today, that old cow." Ron's face dropped as he handed me the paper.

I read the headline,

HARRY POTTER 'DISTURBED AND DANGEROUS'

"It's about me, isn't it?" Harry asked.

"No," Ron said.

"Yes," I answered.

Before I got a chance to explain, Draco had approached our table with a smug look on his face. He was holding his own copy of the Daily Prophet. "Hey, Potter! Potter! How's your head? You feeling alright? Sure you're not going to go berserk on us?"

Harry grabbed the paper off me and read:

"The boy who defeated He Who Must Not Be Named is unstable and possibly dangerous, writes Rita Skeeter, Special Correspondent. Alarming evidence has recently come to light about Harry Potter's strange behaviour, which casts doubts upon his suitability to compete in a demanding competition like the Triwizard Tournament, or even to attend Hogwarts school.

Potter, the Daily Prophet can exclusively reveal, regularly collapses at school, and is often heard to complain of pain in the scar on his forehead (relic of the curse with which You-Know-Who attempted to kill him). On Monday last, midway through a Divination lesson, your Daily Prophet reporter witnessed Potter storming from the class, claiming that his scar was hurting too badly to continue studying.

It is possible, say top experts at St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries, that Potter's brain was affected by the attack inflicted upon him by You-Know-Who, and that his insistence that the scar is still hurting is an expression of his deep-seated confusion.

"He might even be pretending," said one specialist, "this could be a plea for attention."

The Daily Prophet, however, has unearthed worrying facts about Harry Potter that Albus Dumbledore, Headmaster of Hogwarts, has carefully concealed from the wizarding public.

"Potter can speak Parseltongue," reveals Draco Malfoy, a Hogwarts fourth-year. "There were a lot of attacks on students a couple of years ago, and most people thought Potter was behind them after they saw him lose his temper at a Duelling Club and set a snake on another boy. It was all hushed up, though. But he's made friends with werewolves and giants, too. We think he'd do anything for a bit of power."

Parseltongue, the ability to converse with snakes, has long been considered a Dark Art. Indeed, the most famous Parselmouth of our times is none other than You-Know-Who himself. A member of the Dark Force Defence League, who wished to remain unnamed, stated that he would regard any wizard who could speak Parseltongue "as worthy of investigation. Personally, I would be highly suspicious of anybody who could converse with snakes, as serpents are often used in the worst kinds of Dark Magic, and are historically associated with evil-doers." Similarly, "anyone who seeks out the company of such vicious creatures as werewolves and giants would appear to have a fondness for violence".

Albus Dumbledore should surely consider whether a boy such as this should be allowed to compete in the Triwizard Tournament. Some fear that Potter might resort to the Dark Arts in his desperation to win the Tournament, the third task of which takes place this evening."

"Gone off me a bit, hasn't she?" Harry said lightly, folding up the paper.

"How did she know your scar hurt in divination?" Ron asked, "There's no way she was there, there's no way she could've heard -"

"The window was open," Harry mentioned, "I opened it to breathe."

"You were at the top of the North Tower!" Hermione exclaimed, "Your voice couldn't have carried all the way down to the grounds!" she put her hands up to her mouth and looked like she was in a dream state herself. I had no idea what she was doing and both Harry and Ron looked at me, to determine how sane she was, I merely shrugged my shoulders as Hermione spoke again, at first she was mumbling to herself, but I made out, "she's definitely not allowed… I think we've got her! Just give me two seconds in the library – just to make sure!" With that, Hermione grabbed her schoolbag and left.

"Oi!" Ron called after her, "We've our History of Magic exam in ten minutes! Blimey!" he turned to Harry and asked, "what are you going to do in Binns's class? Read again?"

Harry had been exempt from all the end of year exams due to the Triwizard Tournament and had usually sat at the back of the room and read up on different spells he could use. But before Harry could ask, Professor McGonagall approached us and said, "Potter, the champions are congregating in the chamber off the Hall after breakfast."

"But the task's not 'til tonight!" the colour drained from his face and he spilled the eggs on his fork, down his front.

"I'm aware of that, Potter," she said, "The champions' families are invited to watch the final task, you know. This is simply a chance for you to greet them."

"She doesn't expect the Dursleys to turn up, does she?" Harry looked at Ron and me blankly.

George walked past us, kissing me on the cheek, wishing me luck for my final exam and wishing Harry all the best for the task tonight. Looking down at our watches, Ron and I had to sprint to make it in time.

Let's just say, that History of Magic exam could have gone better. Hermione's expression as we walked out of Professor Binns's classroom told me she felt the same. We headed to the Great Hall for lunch. George caught up with us and put an arm around me as we walked into the Hall, "So… How'd it go?"

"Swimmingly." I said screwing up my face, "Did you write your name on the paper?" I asked.

George smiled, I had agreed with him, not to wish him luck nor to ask any questions. He and Fred's attitude about exams wound me up, but there really was no talking to either of them! "Mum?" George said.

I looked up at him, feeling confused, but he wasn't looking at me, Molly and Bill were sitting at Gryffindor table with Harry – they must be here as Harry's family support! I couldn't help but smile. I gave Molly and Bill a big hug each, and told them all about Fred and George's birthday in more detail than I had in the letter I had sent back. All the Weasleys, Harry, Hermione and I all sat down in a clump together, just talking, it felt as though we were all back at The Burrow again. I couldn't wait to go back in a week and a bit!

I noticed that Bill's attention was only partially with us, I looked over my shoulder to see where he was looking. I shook my head at him and said, "She's lovely, you know."

He leaned across the table slightly, "You've talked to her?" he almost sounded jealous.

"Once," I said, "last task." The look on Bill's face told me that that was all he needed to know. Besides, George elbowed me and told me to stop flirting with his brother. He laughed when he said it, but sat a little bit closer to me nonetheless.

Molly and Bill took Harry on a long walk around Hogwarts grounds after lunch, whilst Ron, Hermione, Fred, George and I all sat out in the sun, soaking up the rays, celebrating the end of exam season and in my case, trying to mentally prepare for the evening ahead.

"I wonder if Perce will be standing in for Crouch tonight? Or if Crouch will actually turn up tonight? I know he's mysteriously disappeared and all but-" Fred stopped midsentence at the look on my face.

"Freddie…" I began whispering to him, "Mr Crouch is dead, don't ask me how I know, but I know he was murdered in the Forest that night… it's the only thing-"

"Oh." He said, "And you don't know who did it, so no one can prove anything?"

"Precisely. I just wish I could remember!" I said.

George put an arm around me, "Don't beat yourself up about it…"

I nuzzled into George's neck, craving to be close to him all of a sudden, he wrapped his arm around my waist, "Your mother didn't seem phased about the two of us being together." I commented.

"I wrote to mum and dad in the new year to tell them the good news, mum's been badgering me about you for ages! Surely you knew?"

"I never thought you listened to your mum." I jested.

George chuckled, "She likes you, you're a part of the family to her."

"That's sweet." I said.

"You know, I think she'd adopt you, but that might leave us in a bit of a predicament."

"Wouldn't it just?" I kissed him gently, "Besides, I'd definitely be the odd kid out…" I laughed.

Ron and Fred, who were playing a game of wizards' chess clearly just finished the game as Ron let out a massive 'WHOOOOOP!' Hermione closed her book, looked down at her watch and approached the two of us, "Shall we head up to the castle?"

As we sat down to dinner, my nerves were really starting to kick in and I forced myself to eat. There were about five courses worth of food on the table in front of us, and we all took our time, waiting for the start of the task. Harry seemed reasonably calm as he returned from being out with Molly and Bill. He sat between them a few seats up and held up conversation with them, Ron and Hermione. Ludo Bagman and Cornelius Fudge entered the Great Hall from the front chamber and sat at the Top Table. Madam Maxime, who sat next to Fudge, looked rather upset and was not participating in the conversation. I wondered if Fudge had accused her of hurting Krum, Crouch and me to her face. I noticed that every so often, she wiped her eyes with the napkin. Hagrid was frequently looking down the table at her, concerned.

"Do you think she's okay?" I asked George, who looked up at the top table. He had just dug into his third course.

George shook his head at me, "You are far too nosey."

"I can't help that I care." I said, "She's a fully gown, strong independent woman, and you're not interested in finding out what's wrong?"

"It's really none of our business?" he shrugged his shoulders before asking, "Are you focusing on other people's problems to distract from how nervous you're feeling right now?"

I held my hands up, "Guilty as charged." I rolled my eyes, "I also have a very curious mind, which isn't content with 'you're far too nosey' – that just doesn't cut it for me." I said nonsensically.

"You're going mad." George shook his head at me, "Eat your dinner. And don't forget to take your potion."

I took the potion that had done little to nothing on improving my memory of that night, but Madam Pomfery insisted that on Dumbledore's orders I had to keep taking it. I was just getting sick and tired of the constant shake of my hands, not that it was as bad as it had been. I had gotten used to the fuzz in my head and learned to live with it. I doubted that I would ever remember.

George continued to watch my every move, so that I wouldn't look up to the top table. I eventually gave up and said, "So for the next few hours I'm going to go into crazy girlfriend mode and you're still going to love me at the end of it, okay? Because I really can't help it!"

He laughed at me, "You're always a little bit crazy, but yes, I'll still love you at the end of it, don't worry." He gave me an eskimo kiss, "you'd have to be completely mad to want to date me." George teased, having finished the last of his dinner.

"True that!" I chuckled.

Before he could retaliate, I noticed movement from the top table and Dumbledore rose to his feet. The Great Hall was immediately silent as Dumbledore spoke, "Ladies and Gentlemen, in five minutes' time, I will be asking you to make your way down to the Quidditch pitch for the third and final task of the Triwizard tournament. Will the champions now please follow Mr Bagman down to the stadium now."

I got a wave of nervous excitement as Harry got up. Mrs Weasley gave him a quick hug, and I could see Cedric's parents, Fleur's mum and sister, Krum's parents all wish them well. Harry shook his head as he looked at me and smiled, wrapping his arms around me tight, "Good luck! Just remember-"

"Don't turn your back on anything and don't trust anything?" Harry smirked.

I nodded, "Don't get cocky, Mr Potter!"

He smiled at me before catching up to Ludo and the three other champions. The Gryffindor table were cheering and chanting Harry's name. The rest of the people in the Great Hall were all applauding. I looked up at the enchanted ceiling and saw that it was getting dark outside. Excitement spread across the room as the teachers and judges started moving up at the front of the hall, getting prepared to move. All of the used plates and left over food vanished. Dumbledore got to his feet once again and the Hall went silent. He walked towards the door and said, "Let's make our way to the stands."

Walking down to the Quidditch Pitch, George took a hold of my hand and Molly stood on my other side. She was smiling at me, she talked quietly to me so that George, who was nattering away to Fred and Bill, wouldn't hear, "So he finally got over himself and asked you?"

I laughed, "Yep. Took him long enough."

"I was worried after your fight in the summer…" she looked at her feet, "Ginny said that you didn't talk to him for weeks. Months, probably."

"He got over that one, too." I said, "he plucked up the courage to apologise, I didn't make it easy for him, mind." Molly grinned at me and urged me to continue, "So he asked me to the Yule Ball, which I'm guessing you had a part in?"

Molly blushed, "Maybe? He asked you of his own free will! I can assure you on that one, I just saw the dress robes a couple of weeks after you all went back to school and knew they were the perfect match. I couldn't help it. I saved up for them and bought them." She smirked, "I sent them to him in a box and wrote him a note which said… well… you don't want to know…"

George, who had clearly been listening in said, "Shower, wear clean underwear, brush your teeth and wear cologne and choose the girl of your dreams." George squeezed my hands, "Luckily for you mum, I had already asked Katy by that stage, but I did take up your advice."

I laughed, "He did smell great!" I then continued, "Yeah, well on Christmas Day I gave him the matching tie as a gift." I shook my head at her, "you were meddling the whole time, you can't even deny."

"And now look how happy my baby is," Molly grinned at George, reaching out to squeeze George's cheek, "I couldn't be happier!"

As we entered the stadium, the stands used for the first two tasks were surrounding the entrance to the 20-foot hedge maze. Molly took to the stands first and chose to position us relatively close to what she referred to as 'front and centre'. She got herself sorted and looked around at her five children, as though counting to see if they were all present and correct. I bet it was something she always did. She straightened her clothes down and whispered, "I didn't think the atmosphere would be like this."

"It's probably just because you're standing beside me!" I whispered back, "Harry's like my brother and I just give off this nervous energy. You should probably stand between Fred and George; they always know how to lighten the -"

I was about to continue but I heard Ludo explaining to the champions that Hagrid, Moody, McGonagall and Flitwick were all going to patrol the maze, should any of the competitors get into any bother. They were all wearing large, red, luminous stars on their hats and, in Hagrid's case, on his back.

Ludo then lifted his wand to his throat and engaged with the audience, "Ladies and gentlemen, the third and final task of the Triwizard Tournament is about to begin! Let me remind you how the points currently stand! Tied in first place, on eight-five points each – Mr Cedric Diggory and Mr Harry Potter, both of Hogwarts school!" we all cheered, "In second place, on eighty points – Mr Viktor Krum, of Durmstrang Institute!" there was more applause, "And in third place – Miss Fleur Delacour, of Beauxbatons Academy!"

Harry turned back and spotted us in position and waved up at us! I cheered and shouted down to him, "POTTER FOR PRESIDENT!" he laughed and shook his head at me.

"So on my whistle, Harry and Cedric!" Ludo announced, "Three – two – one"

I watched as both Harry and Cedric nodded at each other before entering. I squeezed nervously on George's hand and he squeezed back. A second blast of Ludo's whistle saw Krum enter the maze and the third saw Fleur leave our sights. I looked down at my watch, the time was 2100. But before I had time to think, Molly was talking to me again.

"Sorry?" I said as she looked at me expectantly.

"You were saying, dear?"

I shook my head, "Oh, yeah, you probably shouldn't be standing next to me. I was nearly sick during Harry vs Dragon. I was panicking during Harry vs water with Ron and Hermione as hostages and now it's Harry vs maze. I don't know what was worse… seeing exactly what was happening as Harry was attacked by a dragon or looking out expectantly across the Black Lake hoping that three of your best friends were still alive? Now we get to stare at the entrance of a maze for goodness knows how long and-"

"Will you breathe?" George shook his head at me, "She's hard work during all this, mum."

The group of us bunched together a bit and Ron said, "Did you bring any of that potion to sedate you, I think I preferred you asleep."

I turned my back so that Molly couldn't see me stick up the middle finger at Ron and give him a dirty look. Bill and Ginny stood and laughed at me. Fred and George pretended to be shocked and Hermione gasped. Ron smirked. So I replied, "I'll happily curse you, I much preferred you when you your body was frozen in the middle of the Great Hall." That wiped the smirk off his face.

Molly pretended not to notice but she whispered a few minutes later, "I'm glad you know how to handle my boys."

I whispered back, "A few threats and carry them out if needs be." Ron and Hermione seemed to be bickering on the other side of Bill, "I swear, one of these days they will become a couple."

"I agree." Ginny said sneaking up behind me, climbing underneath the tight grip I had on George.

"Just like you and Harry will get together and have beautiful babies." I said.

Ginny went bright red, but it was getting dark quick, so her face was slightly concealed. She gave me a dirty look, but I guess she was used to me teasing her now, "I can't even tease you about George… But you two will give me lots of nieces and nephews."

"Seven, according to Fred." I nodded.

Molly chuckled, "And you're okay with that?"

"George and I have had this discussion. Fred wants a Quidditch team of nieces and nephews. I have pointed out that he has four other brothers and a sister to fulfil his wish list." I smirked.

"Yeah," Fred joined in, "But if your kids are half as fierce as you are and half as talented as George, you'd have a winning team, every time."

I looked up at George who was smiling at me. He was not going to comment.

"I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, Freddie." I said.

Fred held back laughter, "You know it's a great thing."

"AHHHHHHHHHH!" we heard a scream come from the maze. It was undoubtedly Fleur. My grip on George's hand intensified. In the corner of my eye I could see Bill jolt, he really did have feelings for her. The champions had been in the maze for over half an hour. It had suddenly hit home that they were in danger, whilst we all tittered about the future, making jokes and having a good old yack.

I saw McGonagall, who was patrolling around the front of the maze walk purposefully towards the far side of the maze where she calculated the scream came from. There were no red sparks, but after ten minutes of me standing in silence watching, praying that Fleur was okay, she had been successfully retrieved by Professor McGonagall. Fleur's mother and sister quickly surrounded her, placing kisses over her face and wrapping their arms around her. Fleur looked awfully disappointed, but I reckoned it was all a front. I breathed a sigh of relief as she sat down at the front of the stands, accepting a cup of tea from Madam Pomfery.

For the next twenty minutes or so I watched the entrance of the maze like a hawk. I'm pretty sure people were trying to talk to me, but the only thing I realised was George squeezing my hand every so often. Unexpectedly, I saw red sparks fly up into the air. I felt really restless, bobbing up and down on the spot. I watched as Krum emerged from the maze with Hagrid.

It was as though my ears popped and I was back into reality again, "Kathryn he's okay, there's nothing to worry about." Hermione said.

I nodded.

George spoke next, "He looks a bit… moody. Guess who didn't want to get out of the maze?"

Krum's parents received him from Hagrid, but he wasn't looking at them. Krum examined the crowds around him, with the same stern look he always had on his face. Then his eyes locked on mine. I squeezed George's hand.

"Did he just look at you, does he want to talk to you?" he asked me.

I looked up at George then back at Krum, whose parents had now brought him back to the stands a few metres away from Fleur, but closer to us. I let go of George's hand and pushed past those in my way and I walked straight over to Krum who said, "I did not vant to be rescued. I vos… I vos…" he looked at me and shook his head. He hadn't a clue what just happened. His parents tried to comfort him, but he shook them off, taking a seat, I sat beside him. He whispered, "I don't know vot happened, I vos controlled, I didn't vant to do wot I did." he saw my weakened composure, "I hoped you vood understand." He hinted.

"Did you hear Fleur scream?"

"Yes." He said, "I svear I did not attack her. They made me attack Cedric, but he and Harry got me… I vos stunned. I didn't vant to attack them. So who vas controlling me?"

"I don't know." I said, "Who else is in there? Or what?"

"vne of Hagrid's creatures, a spider, a niffler, a spell that made the vorld go upside down…" he recounted, "no people."

I sat there beside him for a few minutes, thinking, there were the four teachers patrolling the outside, so it had to be inside the maze. Who would want to attack Fleur and Cedric and Krum? "You weren't provoked to attack Harry?"

"No."

I looked up at Ludo Bagman who was announcing that both Fleur and Krum were forced to leave the maze and so the fight was on between Harry and Cedric for Triwizard Champion. I saw the spring in his step. I was suspicious, but I didn't see how he could do it from outside the maze. I thought about it some more for a while, but excused myself from Krum's presence and went to see Fleur.

"Bonjour Fleur," I said, "Would it be okay if I-?"

"Oui." She said, patting the space beside her. "You seemed to keep me calm last time. Zis is ma mère Apolline and you already know Gabrielle."

I nodded, "Pleasure to meet you." But I cut straight to the chase, but had to be careful not to get her suspicious, "How did you get on in there?"

"Eet was awful. Zere was a massive spider and one of zose creatures 'agrid was breeding! But someone stunned me, zat is why I 'ad to leave. Zat is why I am 'ere." She looked disgusted, folding her arms.

"Do you know who it was? Who stunned you?" I asked.

"All I could 'ear was footsteps behind me, I screamed and zey got me." she said.

I realised that Fleur was not going to be of any use to me, but I sat with her nonetheless, "I don't know if this means anything to you, but his name is Bill and he's definitely interested." I whispered.

Fleur smiled.

I continued, "He's a great guy and he's the eldest Weasley. He's working for Gringotts."

"Ze bank?" she asked, curiously.

"Yeah, as a curse breaker."

She smiled at me, "Zanks."

"I'd best get back, but I'm sure I'll get talking to you again before the night is over." I said, getting up, "Well done in there, by the way, I know it couldn't have been easy. I'll try and find out who stunned you, so you can get them back before you go back to France!" I jested.

She nodded at me and grinned.

I climbed back up to the Weasleys and Hermione, who were looking at me expectantly. They crowded around me as I said, "Fleur and Krum were both stunned. By whom, they don't know. They're both raging!"

Seeming satisfied, I stood beside Bill for a while, thinking about other things before mentioning in a whisper, "By the way, Fleur is totally into you as well." I smiled at him.

He tried to hide his face, which had gone a bit pink and said, "Thanks." Before he shifted coolly down to speak to his mother.

Fred, George, Ron and Hermione soon found themselves around me, "Spill." Ron said.

"There's a Blast-Ended Screwt, a massive spider, a niffler and a spell that turns the world upside down in there. Fleur was stunned by someone, but doesn't know who, but Krum on the other hand, I'm pretty sure was under the Imperius Curse."

"What?" Hermione gasped.

I nodded, "He said that he was told in his head to go and attack Cedric. He said that he didn't want to do it. He said that it was after Fleur was attacked. He was trying to stun Cedric, but Cedric must have fought back, then Harry showed up and stunned him, the voice in his head told him not to harm Harry. So there is a person in the maze who attacked Fleur, imperised Krum and tried to get him to attack Cedric."

"You don't think – is he really that desperate?" Fred asked me.

"Who are you talking about?"

I started bobbing up and down on my feet again, feeling so nervous, "Okay, so I didn't tell you this because you wouldn't be able to keep it from Harry, but Ludo Bagman has placed a bet on Harry to win the tournament… His whole life savings, or should I say… debt."

"Oh…" Hermione said, "I'm glad you didn't tell him. He's got enough on his plate."

"Yeah, he didn't need that pressure." Ron said.

Hermione added, "It does make sense though, why Bagman was trying to help Harry, but…" she turned around, "He's been standing there all night, it can't have been him…"

I sighed. I looked out and watched as Moody rounded the corner during his patrol around the maze. He looked particularly delighted with himself. But my attention was diverted as I saw Snape and Karkaroff having what seemed to be a quiet argument at the far end of the stands. Karkaroff looked pale and sweaty and Snape stood tall, trying to ignore Karkaroff's obvious panic. What I did notice was that Karkaroff gripped his arm as though it was paining him, he made a swipe to grab Snape's but he pulled away.

"Something isn't right…" I said.

I looked back at Moody who was still smiling broadly. He still gave me the heebie-jeebies. The way his face was all scarred. The clunk sound of his wooden leg. He never smiled that much. He took a swig from his hip flask and continued walking. But he stopped and I realised why. Karkaroff, who looked like he could have thrown up was walking toward the stadium exit. Moody grabbed him by the collar.

I gasped.

I grabbed onto George as my knees buckled. The memory of that night returned to me, "Katy are you okay?" George pulled me back to my feet again. I had his face as well as Fred, Ron and Hermione all looking at me concerned.

I was reliving that night, where I ran into the forbidden forest. I heard Krum's stunned body fall to the floor.

"She's gone all pale and clammy again." I could hear George's panicked voice, "Did she bring any potions with her? We need to get her down to Madam Pomfery, now."

"No." I said. I recounted as Moody, who was half covered by the invisibility cloak grabbed Mr Crouch by the collar and killed him. It all happened at lightning speed in my mind. "I need to see Dumbledore."

"Oh Merlin, she's remembered." George said, "Who was it, Katy?"

"Moody." I said, making a run through the crowd.

The crowd erupted into cheers around me shouting and yelling. I looked up and saw that Harry and Cedric had both arrived with the Triwizard Cup. The two boys were lying on the ground. Dumbledore started moving. I had to change direction. "MOVE!" I yelled to a group of first year girls and I broke free and started into a sprint over to Harry, Cedric and, "Dumbledore-" I said, I let my knees crash into the ground.

I looked down at Harry, who was shuddering. He was covered in blood. He was holding onto Cedric so tight. Crying. I looked at Cedric, at his eyes which were fixed points. He wasn't blinking. He wasn't moving. Cedric Diggory was dead.
