Chapter 5

Kimura POV

'Those eyes…. Why did he stop and smile? It seemed like no one else noticed his smile except for me, as if he planned it that way..." I watched as Captain Hitsugaya walked out of the room and vanished using flash step.

I felt my father and Nanao move behind me, I turned to see them and smiled, knowing that Nanao would probably scold me, I ran to my father and hugged him. For all his crazy and irritating antics, I really did miss him.

I felt him laugh and return my hug. "I missed you too Kimura. Come, we have much to discuss before you head over to the Squad ten barracks with Lieutenant Rangiku." I stepped back out of our hug to look up to him and then back at Rangiku who smiled but had a look of concern on her face.

"Yes father, though the looks of worry and concern on Rangiku and aunt Nanao give me pause. Surely…" I stopped my words as I felt a familiar presence come behind us. I turned to see Captain Kurotsuchi standing there with a grin on his face. My whole-body tenses as I glared at him.

"Captain Kurotsuchi…. To what do I owe the horror, I mean honor?" I sneered at him. He had been trying to get his hands on me since I was a child. Always saying something about experiments and test that would only mildly kill me.

"Kimura Kyoraku, it has been so long…. Perhaps, now you will let me run some tests on you, I do promise not to fully maim you." He said as he rubbed his hands together. I took a step forward with my right hand reaching behind me for Shenron's hilt.

"Now, now, Captain Kurotsuchi, as fun and slightly terrifying as that sounds, she will have to decline. Kimura has business to attend to with myself and Lieutenant Nanao prior to reporting to her captain. Excuse us." I felt my father continue to pull me back using his hand that was on my right arm reaching for my hilt.

I allowed myself to be pulled back without letting my glare leave Kurotsuchi.

"Perhaps another time" he stated as he smirked at me while I backed away.

"You better hope not Kurotsuchi." I whispered as I finally turned my face away from him and followed my father, Nanao, and Rangiku through the doors at the back of the large office which led into his smaller more private one.

I followed my father and Nanao into the smaller office. Rangiku waited until we were all inside for her to slide the door closed. I watched as my father took his hat off and sat on a cushion while leaning back on his hands. Aunt Nanao stood off the to side giving him the usual disapproving look at his casualness.

"Head Captain- "I started to say but stopped when he opened his eyes and glared at me.

"Really daughter…." Shunsui said in a mocking tone. I lowered my head and chuckled slightly at his insistence. I walked over to one of the other cushions and plopped down casually, Rangiku followed suit and all of us ignored Nanao's sighing and head shaking while mumbling something about giving up and being pointless to try.

"Sorry… Father, what's wrong?" I asked as I watched him sigh and sit up right.

"I am concerned Kimura. I know we think that you are safe, but a part of me feels as though something is coming for you. We need to make sure you are safe." Shunsui started to say to me. I watched as the various emotions of dread, concern and what seemed fear slipped across his eyes. I quickly looked to Rangiku who had a serious look on her face also.

"Coming for me? Who else could know about me aside from Aizen, and Yhwach?" Unconsciously my left hand moved to my chest and started to rub right above my breasts. I felt the spiritual pressure of the beast that resided inside me stir a bit. "I can manage anyone that comes for me father. No one has been able to over come my spiritual pressure, even with the seal that Central 46 placed on me when I was a child." I bit out in annoyance that he could think that I could still be so weak as to allow someone to overpower me.

'I am not a child anymore, why wont he see that?' I thought to myself.

"We do not know, but we must be on guard. This feeling has only grown, and I will not be caught off guard. I understand that you are no longer a child who needs protecting Kimura, but you are my child none the less and I will do all in my power to keep you safe." Shunsui argued as though he had read my thoughts.

"The reason we wanted you in squad ten is because there is no other with spiritual pressure powerful enough than Captain Hitsugaya. He will be a beacon if something occurs and can withstand any attack until we all can arrive." My father continued, at those words I felt myself bristle.

"So, I am being babysat!" I quickly stood up and glared at my father, Nanao, and Rangiku. "Does he know he is now my babysitter? Which, by the way, I do not need nor want!" I continued to yell.

"No! Captain doesn't know anything about you Kimura, please calm down." Rangiku ground out, I was not aware that I had closed my eyes, but when I opened them, I saw all three of them grimacing. I looked down at my clenched fists and saw my own spiritual pressure which was a red and purple mixing with a dark blue and black.

'Oh no….' I quickly took a deep breath in and calmed myself. The spike in pressure disappeared and everyone in the room relaxed.

"I understand father. I will be on guard and cautious. I promise." I whispered and relaxed my stance. "May I go to my barracks now?" I watched Shunsui sigh and nod, so I turned to Rangiku who had also stood and opened the door for us.

"You and I will be sharing a room, which I am so excited about, Kimura. We are the only women in squad ten. I made some room in the closet and dresser for you and we had another futon brought in." Rangiku babbled on as we walked out into the crisp air. "Ready? Follow me, hopefully you can keep up!" Rangiku jested as she wicked at me while she flashes stepped away.

"Did she really challenge me? Like she can out flash step me, she must have been knocked in the head too many times over the last one hundred years." I muttered to myself as I secured my bag across my shoulders and took off after Rangiku. I caught up to her quickly and saw her shocked expression as I grinned to her before taking off.

Toshiro POV

'What was that?' I quickly looked out the window of my office as I felt a giant spike in spiritual pressure that I did not recognize. I stood and reached for Hyorinmaru but paused when it suddenly disappeared. I waited for the sirens of the Seireitei to sound but nothing came. 'Is Kurotsuchi experimenting again?' I released a breath I did not realize I had held and sat back down in my chair behind my desk.

My thoughts returned to my newest third seat. Something about her intrigued me to no end. What was it about her? Rangiku refused to give me any more history on her, even when I turned it into an order. She just muttered that it was not her story to tell.

I closed me eyes and pictured Kimura in my mind from her red hair that was held in a high ponytail to her dual zanpakutos across her lower back. When she looked at me, I could see her hazel eyes, but the outer edges had a dark blue ring, almost as if something else was also watching through her eyes.

After what seemed like hours, I decided I should probably start on this paperwork again, knowing that most of it was already overdue thanks to Rangiku, never bothering to touch it. I grabbed the first pile but paused as I felt people approaching my office. Automatically knowing who was going to burst through the door I schooled my face into my usual annoyed mask that she always brought out.

"CAPTAIN!" I heard Rangiku shout as she burst through my door. I sometimes wonder how I have not had to replace that yet. "I brought Kimura for her orientation with you before taking her over to my house." I glared at her as she marched into my office and noticed that Kimura was trailing behind her looking around.

"Rangiku, must you always barge in here without knocking? Seriously, can you not follow protocol for once in your life?" I gritted out to her as she plopped on my coach again.

"That's no fun captain, plus how am I supposed to catch you doing something you're not supposed to be if I knock and wait for you to say I can come in?" She said while sending me a mischievous glance.

'she's up to something…' I thought but chose to ignore her comment and turn to Kimura.

"Kyoraku. Please sit." I motioned for her to sit in front of my desk. I watched her movements as she complied and placed her bag next to the chair. "Rangiku – why don't you take Kyoraku's bag to your home, so she doesn't have to lug it around." I heard Rangiku shift and felt like she wanted to say something, but she chose not to. I saw Rangiku stand out of the corner of my eye as she walked to Kimura.

"Sure Captain. I will be outside when Kimura's done here." Rangiku grabbed her bag and gave her a glance before turning and walking out of my office, closing the door behind her.

I kept my gaze on Kimura and was surprised when she continued to hold my stare. Most people would look away and shy their eyes. She stayed quite waiting for me to start speaking.

"I was given a brief background on you Kyoraku, but not much else. Tell me about yourself since you will be my third seat and all." As the sentence left my mouth, I almost shocked myself feeling the teasing tone that it came out in. 'what the hell?' I noticed her shift in the chair, and finally glance her eyes away.

"What would you like to know Captain Hitsugaya?" She asked me while bringing her eyes back to mine. Her eyes were so full and bright that my breath caught in my throat, causing me to cough slightly.

"Why don't you tell me about your zanpakutos, I noticed you have two. I have only heard of Head Captain and Captain Ukitake as wielding dual zanpakutos." I leaned back in my chair as I watched her face adjust to a bring a small smile to her face.

"You noticed that. Yes, I have dual zanpakutos, but they differ from the Head Captains and Captain Ukitake's. They each wield different." I watched as she took her right hand to rest on the hilt that was wrapped in a red silk sash. "This is Shenron, the fire lord." Moving her left hand to the hilt wrapped in a silk purple sash "This is Tianma, the lady of the heavens."

I continued to watch her speak about her zanpakutos with such care. It reminded me of how I speak about Hyorinmaru. I hhhmmmed at her explanation, before I could think to say something else Rangiku opened my office door again. I shut my eyes and growled in annoyance at her timing.

"Captain are you done with Kimura yet? We have all day tomorrow to talk about things." Her whining never ceases. I sighed while opening my eyes to look at Kimura, who continued to smile at me while trying not to laugh at Rangiku.

"Yes, you are dismissed Kyoraku. Arrive tomorrow at 8am sharp, we will have your first day begin with training." I glared at Rangiku "And you – try to not be late – for once."
