Our beloved protagonist was devouring her food at great speed causing those present to gawk at her, mainly the new member of the group who could not believe her eyes.
"Uhhh ... So, who are you, Miss...?" asked Bryan with the intention of starting a conversation before the awkward silence in the house.
The platinum blonde haired woman stopped watching as Goki devoured the food to then focus her attention on the boy who was speaking to her.
"Sarah," she introduced herself to the orphan with a calm tone; dropping her typical hostility (which she used as a method of defense) because she no longer needed it on this occasion.
The light blue-eyed boy smiled as he saw that this woman was not someone bad, and that her frown was only an instinctive reflex because of the life she had lived.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Sarah," Bryan said with the same friendly smile he always displayed with people he liked and the woman with striking platinum blonde hair was one of them.
The former junkie formed a small smile at the positive attitude of the former Grayditch dweller.
"Same here, kiddo," Sarah stated in a slightly friendly tone.
As this conversation went on; the Lone Wanderer decided to do the same with a certain humanoid alien who was still devouring at high speed the roasted mole rat ... For a second he swore he was eating more than yesterday, but in the end, he shrugged it off and didn't think much of it; maybe he was just really hungry because they had gone several hours without touching any food.
"You were good out there, Goki," David commented sincerely and even supported the young woman in exotic orange with blue clothing when the latter humiliated him in front of all the people inhabiting Megaton; no doubt Moriarty would no longer be the same, and from now on he would also become even more dangerous and unpredictable than before.
The black-haired woman with palm-shaped spiky hair looked up from her plate of roasted mole-rat meat, where she took a few seconds to grasp what her fellow adventurer wanted to tell her.
"Hehehehehe... Thank you, David," Goki thanked with a somewhat nervous smile because she wasn't very used to compliments.
The blond-haired young man prepared himself for the next thing he would say to his adventuring companion because he wanted to warn her of future problems ... trouble that would not particularly endanger her but also the others and unlike Goki; they have no superhuman powers or abilities that would allow her to defend herself.
"But I must warn you of one thing, Goki..." David paused slightly; this caused the human-like alien to look at him expectantly. "You should be careful with Moriarty ... he's a very dangerous guy," he advised with a grimace as he remembered how the bar owner treated the ghoul named Gob.
The charcoal-dark-eyed woman watched in confusion at the words of the Haven 101 Dweller, but was also a bit surprised at the latter's serious expression.
"Dangerous? But it's not very strong. I checked it myself," Goki assured with a thoughtful look as she recalled the moment when she effortlessly parried the blow (slap) Moriarty tried to land on her.
The blue-eyed young man shook his head at the words of the woman in exotic orange and blue clothing because in a way she was very innocent in a world as ruthless as the one she was born into.
"I don't mean your physical strength... I'm serious, Goki. Moriarty is a very dangerous guy because he uses cruel and violent methods to achieve his goals," explained David this time with a very serious tone.
Our beloved protagonist tilted her head to the side at the new word she didn't know.
"Methods?" asked Goki once her brain processed the words of the Lone Wanderer.
The former Dweller of Haven 101 was about to answer her, but a certain platinum blonde beat her to the punch and did it for him.
"Scamming, extortion, rape, forced prostitution, etc.," Sarah replied coldly as she remembered all the things that bastard Moriarty did to her.
The Saiyan woman's mind clicked before the ex-junkie's words because there was something that really put her off.
"Oh..." said Goki quietly as she remembered the Red Patrol trying similar things to capture her when she was just a child.
The three humans watched the woman in striking orange with blue clothing; the adults didn't know what to say to the woman with superhuman strength to make her forget whatever it was that depressed her so much, but the former Grayditch inhabitant stepped in and saved both of their skins.
"Would you like to go to Arefu, Miss Goki?" asked Bryan with the intention of snapping the woman he sees as a mother figure out of her depressed state.
The woman with black spiky hair in the shape of a palm tree looked up in surprise at the boy's question.
"Uh... Yes!" replied Goki with renewed happiness as he remembered that he was to deliver Lucy West's letter to her family at a certain settlement.
The two adults let out a sigh of relief as the woman in striking orange with blue clothing recovered from the sadness that afflicted her, but they also gave a thumbs up to Bryan for saving the moment; the latter returned the gesture with a smile.
After this, the three adults and the boy continued happily tasting their respective meals with a rather striking tranquility; which after a few minutes was interrupted by the Earth-bred Saiyan woman.
"Sarah!" Goki called out to the striking blue-eyed woman: once she had finished eating.
The blonde who had resumed eating stopped eating when she heard the voice of a certain woman with superhuman strength.
"Yes, Goki?" said Sarah with a calm tone, while still slowly continuing to eat her mole rat meat; which she was cutting into pieces with the cutlery.
The black-haired woman with palm-tipped black hair stood for a few seconds in thought because she was seeing in her mind how she would ask the next favor from a certain platinum blonde.
"Can you watch David for a few hours for me? I have to go deliver this letter to Lucy's family in Arefu," Goki explained as he pulled out the said letter from somewhere in his Gi.
The former junkie recalled the moment Lucy West approached them, and asked the flashy orange-with-blue-colored heroine for such a favor.
"Yes. I have no problem," Sarah uncomplainingly accepted the favor from the huge-breasted K-cup woman because after all it was the least, she could do for her.
The boy looked disdainfully at the woman he was slowly beginning to see as a mother figure.
"Hey! I don't need no babysitter! I can take care of myself!" exclaimed Bryan, which was totally true.
Our beloved protagonist was taken by surprise at the light blue-eyed boy's words, so she decided to act quickly with a tactic of hers that always served her well in similar situations.
"P-Please, Brayan..." requested Goki with his puppy dog eyes and his lower lip quivering; this he had learned from Bulma when the latter wanted something from Yamcha or Vegeta.
The boy obviously couldn't hold on for long under the tender gaze of the orange-with-blue-clad heroine that even made the two adults shudder because they had never in their lives witnessed anything like this.
"... Okay, but you owe me something," Bryan said with a somewhat annoyed expression because he had enough with the damn robot butler telling bad jokes ... he hoped Sarah would be different.
The black-haired woman with palm-tipped black hair gave a thumbs up with her right hand to the former Grayditch inhabitant.
"Of course, Brayan!" agreed Goki without thinking with a bright smile happy that his little trick had worked to perfection.
Both the former junkie and the former denizen of Shelter 101 looked into each other's eyes not understanding what had happened, but then shrugged their shoulders and continued tasting their food.
One Hour Later
Both the Saiyan woman and the Lone Globetrotter had already arrived at this small settlement known as 'Arefu' ... although it took longer than they thought because Goki got lost several times, but anyway back to what mattered; she landed softly on the bad road leading to Arefu ... until suddenly:
{BANG!}
A bullet passing very close to the head of the woman in peculiar orange with blue clothing, she again gasped at this familiar and certainly repetitive attack that left her with a somber look on her face.
Meanwhile, David hid behind Goki because he knew that the latter was like a bullet-proof wall ... literally, because he had seen it on several occasions in the short time, they have known each other.
"G-Get out demon!"
The woman with eyes as dark as coal froze in place at the old man's words because she had not expected this classification towards her person, but almost immediately she was able to react to her attacker's words.
"I'm not a demon!" exclaimed Goki angry and offended, but also sad because it reminded her of when she was labeled with that word before she met Bulma.
The Lonely Wanderer let out a sigh at the new confrontation that was unfolding in front of him.
"I knew it was a bad idea to come flying ... Next time we'll walk..." muttered David to himself with a grimace because he knew perfectly well that this old man could end up getting hurt by Goki, who at this moment was very upset.
The older man with his assault rifle in hand prepared to shoot the woman with 'demon' powers in the head.
"B-Back demon! ... I-I'm warning you!"
The black-haired woman with palm-tipped black hair ignored the older man's firearm.
"I told you I'm not a demon, old man! I'm a Saiyan woman raised on Earth!" said Goki loudly to make it clear to him because perhaps the old man was deaf from his advanced age.
This left the old man even more confused, but instead of calming him down it caused quite the opposite.
"S-So you're one of that group of bastards attacking our Brahmins!"
The Saiyan woman quickly set aside her anger for a clearly confused expression.
"Eh... Who?" asked Goki as he averted his gaze to his fellow adventurer, who in response shrugged his shoulders not knowing who this supposed 'group of bastards' were.
The older man for some reason rolled his eyes, but before he could pull the trigger, he was stopped by the man accompanying the supposed demon woman; who came out behind Goki with both hands up in a clear sign of surrender.
"I got this, Goki," David said in a soft tone with the intention of calming his traveling companion; which he succeeded in doing because she stepped aside and remained silent. "Calm down, Mayor Evan. We are here on behalf of Lucy West", he assured this time with a friendly tone.
The older man known as 'Evan' stopped pointing at them when that name came out of the mouth of the boy in the Shelter 101 suit modified with leather parts.
"Lucy? ... I see ... What do you need?" asked the mayor this time a little calmer, but that doesn't mean he let his guard down in front of the woman in striking orange with blue clothing because she was his main target in case everything got out of control.
The Lone Wanderer beckoned the orange-with-blue-clad heroine to pass along the letter that a certain young blonde-haired, blue-eyed Megaton girl had written.
"Lucy wrote a letter for her family and asked us to deliver it," David replied as he grabbed the letter addressed to the West family from Goki's hands, then showed it to the old man.
The mayor checked that Lucy's signature was on the letter and when he saw that it was real, he finished relaxing in front of the two strangers, if only a little.
"I can't keep it; you'd better give it to her ... I can't do it right now because I'm on guard in case there's another family attack," Evan assured with a grimace, while at the same time handing Lucy's letter back to David. "Although since you're here ... Would you guys mind going to go take a look at the other houses? It's just to make sure people are okay, and you'd be doing me a big favor," he said with a rather tired expression from insomnia.
The blond nodded his head at the old man's words and out of sympathy decided to help him even though he had received them in a rather hostile manner, but as a good person of values (as his father raised him) he left that confrontation in the past.
"Goki," David caught the attention of his adventure partner. "Can you take a look at the houses for me to see if the people are, okay? I have to talk to Mayor Evan about this violent group," he explained with a serious expression, while at the same time handing Lucy's letter back to her.
The black-haired woman with palm-tipped black hair kept the letter from a certain young blonde girl from Megaton in an inside pocket of her Gi, and then nodded her head enthusiastically at the Lone Wanderer's request.
"Of course, David! Count me in!" accepted Goki very happily for wanting to distract himself a little from the 'fun' welcome he received from the mayor, so he immediately turned around and went to fulfill this new mission he was entrusted with.
Meanwhile, the former inhabitant of Vault 101 and the mayor began to talk about the gang that was attacking them, who called themselves 'the Family' ... For a moment, David's mind compared it as an overly cliché mafia name that he was almost sure he had seen in his comic books as a kid.
Ewer House
Our beloved protagonist walked to the first house she would check to see if the people living there were okay, so she stopped at that house and brought her right hand to the door; where she had to control her superhuman strength for the next thing she would do:
{knock} {knock}
The black-haired woman with palm-tipped black hair removed her hand from the door and waited a moment until she was greeted by a female voice.
"Hello, is this the mailman, I hope my fall catalog has arrived!"
The Saiyan woman blinked at the words of the woman on the other side of the door.
"Huh? No ... I was sent by old ... Ebony? I think his name is..." said Goki with a thoughtful expression, as he didn't pay much attention to that conversation between his fellow adventurer and the old man.
The woman on the other side of the door laughed in a rather striking manner, where she even elicited a small smile from the woman in exotic orange-with-blue attire.
"It's Evan, my dear. Ah! That man is quite the gentleman, we are lucky to have such a brave mayor like him."
The charcoal-dark-eyed woman wasn't quite sure about classifying the old man by that word, but in the end, she shrugged it off because she didn't care because she was coming for something else.
"You ... Are you all right?" asked Goki with a touch of concern, since unlike her: humans are very fragile physically in the face of an accident or attack from something or someone.
The woman on the other side of the door again let out a very amused chuckle at the question of the woman in striking orange with blue clothing.
"Jijiji ... Of course, my dear, would you like to come in?"
The Saiyan woman was taken by surprise at the hospitality of this unknown woman.
"Yep! Thank you," Goki accepted really glad for the kindness of the human woman because so far, she is the only one who hasn't treated her in a hostile way ... except Lucy, she is also a good person.
When the owner of the house opened the door and walked in, the Saiyan woman couldn't even take two steps because she was confronted by an unknown guy who started telling her the following:
"What the fuck are you doing-"
The unknown man went completely silent when he saw the intruder who turned out to be a woman, a very beautiful woman with a Goddess body that he could never have imagined ... such had been his impression that he was dumbfounded and with his gaze fixed on her.
"Honey, don't be slimy and shut your mouth."
The husband of the unknown woman immediately shut his mouth with his face red with shame at his wife's order... Damn it, damn it! He must have looked like a pervert in front of the beautiful woman in striking orange with blue ... Though to his surprise, she was looking at him and didn't seem angry at his action!
Whereas, Goki hadn't understood what had happened so he let it go as if nothing had happened.
"What's your name dear?"
Our dear protagonist averted her gaze from the strange man and then focused it on the blonde-haired woman ... little by little she was getting confused in front of so many people with the same hair color, but somehow, she was used to it because in her world she remembered people with different hair colors very exotic like, for example, Bulma who has hair between blue and light blue.
"Goki, but they also call me Kakaroko," she introduced herself with a smile as she made her typical greeting that unconsciously left a lot of her impressive cleavage to those present.
The couple was somewhat puzzled at the exotic names of the woman in striking orange with blue clothing, but that was not the only thing that caught their attention of the latter because the only male in the house almost suffered a nosebleed and the latter's wife watched in fascination at the exotic black hair spiked in the shape of a palm tree of their guest.
"It's a pleasure, Goki. It's always nice to meet a new face in Arefu," she said with a smile at the first visitor she'd had in months. "This is my husband Ken and I'm Brailee."
The woman with black hair spiked in the shape of a palm tree smiled kindly at the married couple, no doubt she could sense that they are good people ... somewhat peculiar in the short time she's known them, but good people after all.
"I don't have much time because I have to check how the others are," Goki said with an apologetic gesture because he also had to deliver Lucy's letter to her family.
Braille changed his happy expression to a very sad one, even Ken lowered his gaze to the ground at the beautiful woman's words because he would like her to stay a little longer.
"... Well, I can stay for a few minutes," Goki quickly added almost in panic seeing the sadness of both humans.
The couple immediately changed their sadness to big smiles because it was very easy to change their guest's mind ... When Goki saw this she almost immediately realized that she had been tricked, but she quickly forgot it when her sense of smell caught her attention to the point that her mouth watered.
Schenzy's House (A Moment Later)
The Saiyan woman went to the second house that was next to the Ewer's house, with respect to the latter she had promised to return to visit them from time to time to chat for a while about everyday things and also to eat these chocolate cookies that Brailee prepared; which were delicious and to her happiness they gave her a little bag for the road. With a very happy smile, Goki gently knocked on the door of the second house.
{knock} {knock}
"Yes? Who is it?"
Our beloved protagonist wondered if she would meet another couple just as charming as the previous one, but she put this aside for the moment because she had to answer the owner of the house.
"I'm Goki, but you can also call me Kakaroko. I'm checking the houses to see if they are okay," she answered sincerely and with the hope that the person on the other side of the door was someone good.
The woman on the other side of the door was slow to respond, but when she did, she seemed ecstatic to see a friendly face.
"Thank goodness, come in quickly and close the door!"
The black-haired woman with spiky black hair in the shape of a palm tree did as the landlady commanded, once she turned around, she was confronted by a rather excited human.
"I'm glad to see new faces around here - and that it's another woman is even better! My name is Karen Schenzy, it's a pleasure to meet you Goki."
The woman with eyes as dark as coal was glad to find another friendly woman in this world and even had to hold back the urge to hug her because she might not react in a good way to that show of friendly affection on her part.
"Hehehehehe, I feel the same way," Goki said with a small smile, but almost instantly decided to change the subject because she was a bit behind on time. "They told me to see how people are ... How are you feeling?" she asked with a worried expression, as she could see through the smiling mask of the human woman.
Karen stopped staring in awe and a touch of jealousy at the exotically dressed woman's body because that question the latter asked brought her back to the horrible reality.
"I'll make you honest ... I'm scared to death. I'm glad the mayor sent you to see if we're okay ... But if you don't nip this problem in the bud, we'll still be unable to get out ... or even worse may happen to us.
Our beloved protagonist was moved as the green-eyed woman hugged herself with a terrified and even disturbed expression, because so much time locked up without seeing the outside could damage anyone's mind.
"I promise I'll fix this as quickly as possible," Goki said with a serious expression because when she made a promise, she kept it to the letter.
The light brown-haired woman was taken by surprise at the promise of the woman in a striking orange and blue dress ... for a moment she almost let out an amused and slightly mocking laugh, but when she saw that she meant it she remained silent for a few seconds; analyzing Kakaroko's sexy and toned body.
"... Thank you, Goki. But how will you do it ... I mean ... I don't want to be a spoilsport ... but I don't see you carrying any firearms or any knives to defend yourself from the dangers of the Wasteland."
The black-haired woman with palm-tipped black hair for a moment looked down at her body and indeed she carried no weapon of any kind, but suddenly formed a big grin that bared her white teeth.
"I don't need those things, Karen. My natural abilities are more than enough to defeat anything that stands in my way," Goki assured with a touch of arrogance while at the same time striking a battle pose; the turtle style taught to her by Master Roshi when she was a child.
The inhabitant of Arefu raised an eyebrow at the strange pose of the woman in exotic orange and blue clothing, but when she looked again at the latter's body, she rolled her eyes as she 'understood' what he was referring to ... She obviously didn't understand anything and ended up misunderstanding Kakaroko's words.
"No need to rub it in my face..." muttered Karen with a depressive aura surrounding her from head to toe, but somehow, she was able to recover and again focused her gaze on the G-cup breasted woman, who was watching her in confusion at her words. "Besides, I'm not sure it would do you much good in a life or death situation in front of that violent group..." she commented the obvious.
The charcoal-dark-eyed woman stopped her typical fighting pose and followed by resting both hands on her generous hips with an offended expression at the Arefu inhabitant's comment.
"Hey! I'm very strong," Goki affirmed with total confidence and was even tempted to make a demonstration of her abilities, but at the last moment she ruled it out for fear of how she would react. "You'll see, Karen! I'll defeat this group that causes them so much trouble!" she said aloud, while clenching both fists in a defiant gesture; being careful not to use her superhuman strength in the owner's house.
Karen blinked several times before the stranger's words because in the end she had been completely confused, but she unconsciously formed a small smile and even a touch of hope began to form in her heart.
West House (A Moment Later)
Our beloved protagonist arrived at the last house she had to check to see if the people living there were okay, so as she did before, she took her left hand and:
{knock} {knock}
A good while passed and no one would open the door for her which worried Goki, so she decided to take a different measure and open the door to check herself.
"P-Permit... H-Hello... Is anyone-"
The Z Warriors member suddenly went silent when she saw the bodies of two people on the floor covered in rather nasty wounds ... they almost seemed to have been made by some wild animal, but there was something strange about the crime scene ... something didn't add up ... Although obviously her mind did not pay attention to these details because her mind entered for the second time in conflict since she came to this world.
"N-No ... not again ... I didn't make it in time..." whispered Goki on the verge of tears while at the same time bringing both hands to her head in a gesture uncharacteristic of her.
The black-haired woman with palm-tipped black hair retreated until she was outside Lucy's family's house without giving any importance to what was going on around her and even she didn't notice the arrival of the Lone Wanderer.
"Goki! I was calling you, what happened?" asked David with a worried tone, though his doubt was quickly answered when he looked inside Lucy West's old house. "Shit... Fuck! Wait here, Goki, I have to tell the mayor that the Family killed the Wests!" he said aloud, only to turn around and start running as fast as his body would allow him to run.
The woman with eyes as dark as coal ignored the words of the former inhabitant of Shelter 101 because she was still in shock from what she had seen, but at least she had taken her hands off her head.
"The family did this...?" muttered Goki this time with his gaze on his hands where he stood for a few seconds in a petrified state, until he suddenly came back. "I-I... I ... I-I... I WILL NOT FORGIVE YOU!" she exclaimed with sudden fury, which she had not felt since Freezer cruelly murdered her friend Krilin on planet Namek.
Our beloved protagonist without telling or warning anyone shot into the sky at high speed in search of a certain group of assassins known as 'The Family' ... She would first start searching in a small town near Arefu; which she had seen before arriving to the latter.
Elsewhere
A middle-aged man looked with pride at the community he had built with effort, sweat and tears; this community was far from the people who saw them as monsters because of the lifestyle they led, and an example of them were the people of Arefu who always treated them like scum ... for this reason there were times when he was afraid that someone would come and destroy everything he had done.
"Vance, honey, what's wrong? You're shaking, are you okay?"
The man known as 'Vance' came out of his trance when his wife grabbed his hands that were apparently shaking unconsciously ... This was his 'sixth sense' that was warning him that something would happen, but he wasn't quite sure what it was this time ... and that was his greatest fear.
"I ... I don't know-"
An unexpected tremor interrupted Vance, said tremor caused the whole Meresti Station to shudder under whatever it was that attacked them to the point of scaring them because for a moment they thought everything would collapse burying them under tons of concrete ... Luckily no such tragedy happened, but obviously this warning reminded them that something or someone very dangerous was attacking them and they had to get ready.
"Call everyone. We have to defend our home from whatever is coming this way."
Holly nodded her head without doubting her husband because she knew that tone and serious expression, so she immediately turned around and started down the broken down escalator to give the order to the others in the community.
"I will defend my home, even if it costs me my life," Vance said to himself as he lit a cigarette thanks to the fire sword he used as his main weapon.
End of Chapter Ten
Here are some questions:
Will it be the end of Spider-Man (The Family)?
Will David make it to Meresti Station in time to stop Goki?
What did you think of Goki's interactions with the inhabitants of Arefu?
Questions, doubts?
That's all for this chapter.
Ja ne!
