Chapter 3
Battle of the Bugs
Okay, guys, it's time to get going with chapter 3. But first, on to the reviews.

DragonEmperor999: Glad you're enjoying it and to avoid further confusion in the future with the English name having such a slimier spelling to Veemon, I will be using the Japanese name of Lisa's partner Digimon, Bemmon.
And now, by digital friends... Let's kick it up!
Inside the cave, Quiet was tossing in her sleep, clearly having a nightmare.
"It's your fault he's like this." Quiet remembered a voice from her past say.
"You are such fool to have actually believed that." Another memory said.
"Get out of my sight." Another voice said.
"Quiet? Quiet!" She heard before shooting up while panting. Coming back to herself she looked around to see the others in the group, Bulocomon and Lincoln in particular looking at her with concerned looks on their faces.
"You have the dream again, Sis?" Bulucomo asked, gaining, his partner nodding and getting up.
"Yeah. But I'm okay. I just need a second." Quiet said while turning away from the others to take off her glasses and wipe her eyes.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Lincoln asked after Quiet put her glasses back on.
"Don't worry about it. We'd better get moving." Quiet replied, the others electing not to push things.
"Okay. Fine. Which way should we be heading then?" Lincoln asked, knowing that Quiet's knowledge of the area would be useful and being full aware going right for the enemy would be all but suicide.
"Our best bet would be to head northwest and use the holey hills as cover for a bit." Quiet said, gaining a nod from Lincoln who then turned to the others.
"We should also make sure of plenty of food for the journey." Lincoln instructed.
"Way ahead of you. We has Floramon and Sparrowmon grab some a bunch of apples right before you woke up." Sid said as the two mentioned Digimon smiled.
"Alright. Let's move out." Lincoln said before he and the rest of the Digidestined left the cave, Bumper hanging back in the rear with Quiet.
"Do you wanna talk about it?" Bumper asked before Quiet shook her head while she was adjusting her weapons.
"Don't worry about it. I'm fine. Really." Quiet said before nodding her head in a gesture to get the boy to go forward ahead of her.
A short time later, the Digidestined had arrived at the edge of the forest and were hiding the edge of it before Dorumon and Sparrowmon came flying toward them.
"Well? You see anything?" Lincoln asked the two flyers of the group, both confirming that they were clear to move towards their goal. Lincoln then nodded to his and Sid's partners before the group began to walk through the field, all the while, keeping their eyes peeled for any trouble.
As the group was walking, Wormmon, who was sitting on Bumber's shoulder took notice of said boy making regular glances towards Quiet.
"Wormmon. Do you have any idea about what happened in Quiet's past?" Bumber asked his partner, gaining a shake from his head.
"No. Only Bulucomon does. Neither of them will tell us. " Wormmon said, gaining an empathetic look towards the hooded girl from Bumper.
"Well, at least she has Bulucomon. I know what it's like to push things down. It's not good for you. Even worse when you have to do it alone." Bumper said as the group continued on their way.
After a fair bit of walking and with their destination seen in the distance, each of the Digimon who weren't riding on their human partners stopped walking and looked up.
"Guys. We've got company." Dorumon warned before they looked up to see Devidramon flying towards them. Lincoln and Quiet then both pulled out their Digivices and nodded to their Digimon who then began to fly towards the enemy dragon Digimon.
"Dorumon Digivolve to... Dorugamon!
"Bulucomon Digivolve to... Paledramon!
The two dragon Digimon quickly flew to intercept their shared rival as their partners turned to the others.
"You guys go on ahead. We'll catch up." Lincoln said, Lucy preparing to protest only for Bumper and Ronnie Anne to grab her shoulders and share a nod with Lincoln before running.
'Don't worry, Lincoln. I'll keep her safe.' Bumper thought, knowing that Lincoln's biggest priority was making sure that Lucy remained unharmed.
Just ast the remaining members of the group were about to reach the hills, they stopped before noticing the center hill beginning to crack.
"Oh crap baskets." Clyde said just before the hill shattered to reveal a massive insect Digimon with a blue body, four white wings, and black helmet like head with a single horn coming from the front, it's entire body with the blood coral covering it.
"Oh man. It's Kabuterimon." Sparrowmon said in fear.
"Scatter!" Ronnie Anne called before the others began to run. As they did, it didn't take for Bumber to notice the sheer speed of their attacker.
"We have make it harder for him to chase us." Bumper said before an idea hit him. "Wormmon. I need to to roll in to a ball." He said, gaining a nod from his Digimon.
On his end, Lincoln looked back from the three dragon Digimon in combat to see the corrupted Kabuterimon attack the others
"I know what you're thinking. But if you send Dorugamon away, it could leave it open even with Paledramon covering him. I should have seen this coming. I'm sorry." Quiet said, her voice matching the panic Lincoln was feeling at that moment.
"It's not your fault. We both fell for the bait. We just gotta hope the others can pull through." Lincoln replied, laying all his faith in the rest of the Digidestinted.
Back with Bumper, he was holding his rolled up partner with his hand to his shoulder and his free hand out.
'Okay. Here's hoping my parents shoving track down my throat since I was five pays... off!' Bumper thought as he threw Wormmon like a shot put in to the air above Kabuterimon where he unrolled and used his Stickey Net in order to cover the eye holes of the insect Digimon. "Alright!" Bumper cheered with pure and proud smile on his face. However, his passionate call caught the attention of the corrupted Digimon which then began to fly as he could towards Bumber.
Falling through the air and seeing his human partner in danger, Wormmon eyes began to glow as Bumper grabbed his Digivice on pure instinct which then began to glow is resonance with Wormmon.
"Wormmon Digivolve to..." Wormmon was replaced by a red and grey stag beetle Digimon the same size as Kabuterimon with a pair of white wings on his back and black markings on his head. "...Kuwagamon!" The now champion level Digimon then bursted with speed before he flew to and intercepted Kabuterimon, hitting him so hard he crashed down in to the ground.
"Bumper? Are you okay?" Kuwagamon asked his dumbfounded partner.
"Y-yeah. I'm okay." Bumper said before the two of them looked to see Kabuterimon getting up. "I'll get the others to cover. You handle him." He said, gaining a nod from Kuwagamon.
The two insect Digimon tackled in to each other before taking flight and ramming in to each other in mid air until Kuwagamon rolled out of the way of his berserk foe's charge and grabbed him before preforming a spin throw, making Kabuterimon. Kuwagamon then dived down toward his foe and called out "Shadow Guillotine!" before his pincers glowed purple before he bit threw and destroyed the main segment of the Blood Coral and freeing Kabuterimon from it.
"Looks like that faith you gave them payed off." Quiet said to Lincoln from their end before turning her attention back to the fight their partners were having with Devidramon who had also notice the evolution of the third of their group and had was able to determain that the loss of Kabuterimon made this fight far too out of hand for him. As such, he broke away from the other two dragon Digimon and landed before, with call of "Demon's Gale!" kicked up a massive amount of dust to cover his escape.
"He got away again." Paledramon said before he and Dorugamon landed and reverted back to their Rookie forms and returned to their partners before the four of them began to run back to the rest of the group where they saw Kuwagamon revert back in to Wormmon and land in Bumpers arms as the he smiled down at his partner.
'Huh. That might be the first time I've seen a real smile from Bumper. Way less creepy than what I'm used to from him.' Lincoln thought as the team regrouped.
"We'd better hurry. No telling how fast Devidramon will corrupt another Digimon to attack us." Quiet said, gaining nods from the others began they began to move through the hills.
(Meanwhile)
Having made his escape from the Digidestined, Devidramon moved through the trees before stopping, to catch his breath.
"That make two times now you have failed me, Devidramon and now, three of the children's Digimon have achieved champion." The dragon Digimon heard before looking up in fear.
"Master!" He called out to the empty air. "Please. Allow me to rectify this. I will make the mistake of underestimating the Digidestined again." Devidramon promised with a great deal of fear heard in his voice.
"Hmm. Very well, I shall give you one final chance to destroy these pests." The dark one said, causing Devidramon to calm down a bit. "However, in light of your recent failures, you will require two things. First among them... punishment." He said before out of nowhere something moved faster than the average eye could percieve and sliced through Devidramon's botom left and top right eyes, causing him to scream in pain. "The second, it aid." The dark one said before Devidramon looked up to see a green eyed humanoid purple Digimon with a tail-like growth going down to his ankles, with black belts in the middle, yellow orbs on the back of its three clawed hand, and single claws on the front and back of his feet standing next to a girl in a long coat, her arm right arm and her entire head sans her left eye covered in blood coral.
Well, there you go, guys. Really hope you enjoyed this chapter. I had a lot of fun making it and a fair bit of trouble with which Champion I was gonna give Wormmon. Anyway, next time, things start to get wild for the Digisestined as they face their corrupted member for the first time. Until then and as always... Keep on keeping on.
