Chapter 5: Poisoned: Maggie and OA feat The Team
Maggie was pacing back and forth in her living room for the past ten minutes. She's usually not this indecisive in whatever situation she faced. Finally, she gave up and reached for her phone, just as her doorbell rang.
"Great, they're already here." So much for deciding last minute.
She opened the door to find her teammates beaming at her. "Come on in," she said, trying to mask what she's feeling. The guests went in and settled themselves. The agents occupied the couch, with OA seated nearest to Maggie's chair, Tiff in the middle and Stuart on the farthest end. Isobel and Jubal shared the loveseat.
As she took her seat, Maggie noticed that some were missing. "Where are our analysts?"
Tiff answered, "Well, Elise's daughter has a thing in school, Hobbs is sick, and Kelly and Ian are apparently going to a comedy show, whatever that means."
"Oh, okay."
"Mags, is there a problem? You look worried," said OA. Of course her partner would pick up on her anxiety.
She would have to come clean. "Argh, I know I said don't worry about the food, that I'll cook and bake, and I really did! I was binge-watching all the cooking shows all this time while having my therapy but..." she trailed off.
Scola continued, "Watching and doing are two different things."
"Exactly."
"What? I'm sure it's not that bad, Mags. Where is it, I'll try it" OA insisted while looking around for the food.
Maggie laughed at that. "I already threw them in the trash. Didn't want to risk the number 1 team in the bureau having food poisoning."
"You didn't have to be concerned. I bought buffalo wings on the way here and Stuart has drinks" Tiffany chimed in.
"Don't worry, they're all non-alcoholic" Scola whispered to Jubal.
He clapped Stuart's shoulder, clearly touched by the agent's care. "It's alright, I don't mind. Just think of me as your designated driver."
"Good, 'cause you're mine" said Isobel.
All the agents turned to their SAC. Seeing their shocked faces, she clarified, "I meant, my designated driver. My car is in the shop."
"Okay," Jubal nervously chuckled. "Well, I also brought lasagna and I think Isobel brought tacos so I think we're good in terms of food."
"Hmm, I don't know if I should be thankful or insulted that you don't trust my cooking" joked Maggie.
"That's not true, we just like to be prepared" assured OA, showing her a paper bag filled with her favorite chips.
"Well you didn't think we'll just show up to a party empty-handed, right?" Scola teased.
"Speaking of party, we should get this one started" said Tiff.
