Chapter 50: Dark Machinations
I know dark mages are technically mamono in the encyclopedia. But in my mind the only monster-like thing about them is that they use demonic energy in their spells. So for this story dark mages are humans that use demonic energy to enhance themselves, without the non-human body parts.
Warsaw, Poland
Druella was a smart lilim.
Actually, smart didn't cut it for her. Hyper intelligent! Now that's a proper description! The 4th princess thought to herself as she hovered over the Eastern European city. Over the course of the few days she had been on Earth Druella had taken the time to see the sights as she travelled to somewhere more conspicuous. Germany was nice, their history fascinated her. Germany's once obsession with human supremacy intrigued her, she saw a little of herself in that. However, unlike them, she wasn't so violent or barbaric. She had methods of power and control that would make even the most megalomaniac human green with envy.
Along the way she looked around for radical sympathizers, Luxure was thorough in trying to keep out her followers. But of course, there were always cracks that could be slipped through. Throughout Germany she came across a handful of her followers, all shocked and surprised to bask in her presence. Some would follow after just a simple request, others took a little convincing and others refused to go at all. The vast majority of those who wouldn't go were married, so Druella held no ill will against them.
Others however, feared reprisals from Earth. They claimed that, if they wanted, Earth could wipe out the Makai and exterminate mamonokind with it should they attempt to invade and subjugate Earth. While their fears had some truth to this, in Druella's mind they were nothing more than cowards. They had grown soft on Earth and now were fearful of mere humans!
She left them behind as she travelled eastward, those who were loyal followed. Eventually she reached the nation of Poland. She found the place to be the perfect spot to begin her work. The people here shared many of the same characteristics as Order citizens. They were distrustful, religious and less welcoming of mamono as Germany was.
Poland was also significantly poorer than their neighbor to the west. Druella could exploit this for her purposes. She searched the city for some time to find a suitable location to begin her work. She came across an abandoned warehouse in the industrial sector of the city.
Perfect she thought as she entered the structure. It was large, well built and out of the way. She casted a few warding spells, to both protect the place and also dissuade any humans from snooping around. She then turned to her small group of followers.
Svetlana was a gremlin obsessed with Earth technology. She had bright red hair and stood at a meagre three and a half feet tall. She was a radical but unlike most she instead wanted to use technology to entice humans into a mamono's way of thinking. Why live in a human slum when you can instead live in a modern home with modern appliances. And of course with a beautiful mamono for a wife or, for the females, a sister from another mother! Earth technology also opened new ways of aggressively pining for men. Social media, cars, even firearms with demonic silver bullets were all fair game to her!
Tara was a dark mage, while not technically a mamono, she openly sided with them and used demonic energy to further her magical prowess. Her midnight blue hair and wide curves showed off her otherworldliness. Unlike Svetlana, Tara was firmly against the new technology and more in favor of magic. In her mind she could promise humans all the same things the gremlin did, just without the unreliability of technology. The two bickered a lot along the way to Warsaw.
Hannah was a seven foot bogie with blonde hair with a very thin frame for a mamono. However, unlike her compatriots, Hannah was an Earth human who had willingly become a mamono. She was terminally ill and frail before changing, after which she quickly fell into the category of radicalist. Hannah came to the conclusion that human women were simply inferior, Hannah was faster, stronger, more agile than any normal human could hope to compete with.
Druella smiled. It had been a long time since she had set out on a mission with just a small group. Most of her lieutenants had gotten married following the takeover of Lescatie, along with most of her army. Druella was back at square one in a sense, but she enjoyed that. Besides, it wouldn't be very smart to try and form a full army here on Earth.
"Well, we're here Frau Druella, what now?" The bogie asked as she played with the bells on her outfit. The lilim smiled as she casted a spell, what appeared to be a mirror formed out of a cloud of silver vapor. It shimmered for a moment before showing the outline of a human man and a succubus.
"Before we properly begin ladies, let me ask you something. There is something on Earth that prevents a large portion of the human population from receiving the gift of monsterization and incubusization. Can anyone tell me what that is?"
The trio of radicalists blurted out blood type, or some variety of that. Druella nodded and continued.
"Exactly! My mother tried to fix this only weeks ago. However, she isn't willing to go far enough to fix this problem. That's part of the reason we're here! Not only are we going to show these humans that being a mamono or the husband of one is best for them. We're also going to cure them of this disease of the blood!"
The trio smiled and felt giddy at this, their imaginations running wild as the possibilities. Svetlana envisioned a future of technology, mamono and their husbands all experience healthy, long lives with all the comforts they could ever ask for. Tara saw a world much like Svetlana's, but with magic taking to the stage instead. Hannah saw a future where weakness would be purged from the world. Where man and woman alike wouldn't have to fear illness and disability!
As for Druella, she saw a world where her mother's dream would finally come to fruition! Where the Chief Goddess' plans were finally thrown aside, a world where the Chief Goddess herself was monsterized!
And soon, that world may just become a reality.
