Just a One-Shot.

The signs of worry was evident on the man's face. He stared on his wristwatch in hurry and spoke like he was whispering to himself,

"Anytime. Just anytime..."

He reassured to himself that everything would be fine. He wanted to believe that everything would be fine. But his fears were just as high as his belief.

"It's fine. No need to hide your fears, Carl."

"Fears? What are you talking about? I am completely fine."

Carl Tennyson put a calm face like he was perfectly fine. He was going to be a father in few minutes. All he had to do was to just wait. Something so simple that he was, at first, was confident at the beginning, but now?

He was in worry.

What if the operation didn't go as it should?

What if something happened to his wife or his son/daughter?

Such thoughts were driving him into the territory of fear, or even near panic. Who knows?

Frank sighed at his brother's worries. Yes, he had his worries too, but it would be fine. He was completely sure of Sandra's and her child's health. He was just here to support his brother and even take a peek at his future nephew/niece.

"Don't worry. If something happens, I will-huh? The lights are off."

Indeed, the operation room had switched off its light. But that brought an uneasy feeling in the Tennyson brothers. Normally, they were just waiting there with their open ears, to hear the cries of a newborn baby. Yet, there was none of it.

"N-No. This can't be possible!"

Carl was about to break into tears. The silence of the operation room clearly meant one thing. And he didn't want to believe any of it. Descended in his own fears, or possibly future panic, he was ready to give in. Until he heard, the sound of an opening door. The doctor was coming out. But before that-

"Doctor! What happened to my wife? What's with this eriee silence?!"

-Carl had already grabbed the doctor's collars. And he was not going to leave them anytime soon.

"Whah?! What the hell are you doing?"

"Why my baby was not crying? If something happened to my wife and my child, then I am-"

"Carl?"

A familiar voice went to his ears and that was all needed for Carl to stop his supposed harassment on the doctor.

Without wasting a second, he entered the operation room where his wife laid down on the bed, holding something in her side.

"Sandra...is our child-"

"Yes, our son is fine."

Sandra answered while trying hard to not roll her eyes on her husband's antics. While she loved him, Carl had his own hidden emotional side. Something that surprised her time to time. And it seemed to her that even thier son would surprise them a lot too. Just after his birth, there was no crying at all. The doctor did his best, yet no response.

She thought the worst had occurred, but his son was clearly awake with a funny look on his face. His eyes were looking around and that took her attention.

When the doctor finally confirmed that her son was fine, only then she relaxed.

"Like father, like son. Though my son is kinda silent one atleast."

Normal or not, her son was her son. And she was happy with that.

It was clearly a nighttime in the city of Bellwood.

The residents of their respective home were sleeping soundly. Yet, there was someone who was awake.

A flying figure in brown robes was flying over the Bellwood city. The figure was slender and by the wrinkles on its palms, it was clearly someone aged.

"It's been a while... the city has more residents than before. And it looks more sophisticated too. I wonder how he is living now."

The voice of an aged woman came from the robed figure. She lifted her head and tried to sense if the source of mana was still here or not. After all, it was not everyday that Verdona would feel the presence of mana on earth again, especially if the source was somewhere in the Bellwood.

Though she arrived here to check upon Max, the sudden spike in mana attracted her too. She just hoped that whoever it was, the source must be someone from her family. Well, she hoped.

But her children only proved failure. They could not even use the basic magic, forget about mana they were just humans. She felt disappointed back then.

Now, she was here again to check upon this source of mana. She prayed to whoever God existed in the cosmos, so atleast this time, she would see something very surprising.

Following the magical pulse, she reached to a huge building that clearly looked akin to a human's hospital.

"So a new born ? I wonder whose..."

Verdona created a field of anti-magic detection. Just to be sure that there were not any nuisance around here. If they were here, then she would finish them before they laid any finger upon her family. As long as she was here, her family should be fine.

"Ah, the security cameras! Such a technology..."

While Verdona had no problem with human technology, she wondered if there were less privy ones. With a sigh, she used her magic again and turned invisible. Even though, she wanted to destroy these toys Verdona knew that Max would figure out the reason of the sudden destruction of such measly things.

As she moved on and found the room which she was searching for, the source of this magic was inside.

She shut off the sound of door opening and her own. The woman, or the mother was sleeping on a bed. But her face was looking at the crib, where a baby laid.

It was clear that the mana belonged to this baby. But the question was, whose baby was this?

With a wave of her hand, Verdona analyzed the memories of the sleeping woman and the realization finally dawned upon her.

"So you are Max's grandson. Finally, an Anodite here on the earth."

Verdona smiled at the sleeping form of the baby and greeted to him.

"Hello Benjamin. I am your grandma. It seems that I need to join my family again."
