What if Mara Jade was canon? Our story finds Luke Skywalker in exile on Ahch-To. Mara has come to warn him of a new galactic threat - not the First Order - and to propose a daring plan to combat it. But first, she must shake the Jedi Master out of his self-loathing and despair... This short story is an AR mixing various Legends elements into the canon timeline.

1. Preface

AN: Hey you, thanks for checking out Temple Island Confrontations! This is my first ever fanfic, I'm just floating a little story seed past folks to see if there's any interest in what a relationship - and an adventure - between Luke and Mara might have looked like in the canon timeline. Of course, as a Legends fanboy - Heir to the Empire came out when I was 11, so the EU and I grew up together - there'll be more than one character or story idea ported over.

Basically, if these conversations make anyone curious as to what adventures came before, and what might come after, your feedback will let me know!

Dramatis Personae

Luke Skywalker - Jedi Grandmaster. It's been 6 years since his Temple fell and his students were murdered by his fallen nephew, who now goes by Kylo Ren. Luke has spent that time at the first Jedi Temple on the hidden world of Ahch-To, trying and mostly failing to cope with events, and wondering what his path ahead is, what the Force wills for him.

Mara Jade - Former Emperor's Hand, former smuggler. Following the death of Palpatine, Mara lost her ability to use the Force. Meeting Luke Skywalker shortly after the Battle of Jakku, she joined him on his journey to learn more about the Jedi and the Force before convening a new Jedi Order, with the hope of restoring that connection. In the years since the end of their time together, she has learned much - and has come both to share those lessons with Luke and to warn him of a coming darkness - one that isn't the First Order.
