'"It belonged to your father when he was your age and I think he would want you to have it." Great-Great-Grandma Geneve's words echoed in Della's head the last time she had visited her and Great-Great-Grandpa Bentley six months ago when they were cleaning out the attic. It was a dark green and white varsity jacket with the words The Silver Beasts in black letters on the back of the jacket. Della loved the Silver Beasts even though they didn't play anymore so that was probably another reason why Grandma Geneve gave it to Della. "Don't lose it."
"I won't Nana," Della repeated quietly what she said months ago.so her siblings wouldn't hear her while she watched them swim. "I won't, I promise."
And she was going to keep that promise not just for her Grandma but her father as well no matter what.
