Season 4 - Episode 12 - after 'Blackout'

November 8, 2015

"Don't be angry with me," she called out to Andy, who was on the couch, as she walked through the front door and set her things down.

"I would never!" He watched her, no clue as to what she was talking about.

She took her shoes off and plopped down on the couch next to him. It had been an emotional day of having conversations about blood clots and possible surgery and trying to convince her children that they weren't moving in together forever, just a few days or weeks. Emily was having none of it. She offered to fly in, Sharon said no. Ricky offered to come stay as well, but Sharon said no. After a while of Emily trying to convince her mother to just let the man move in forever, for good, Sharon said no, smiling though at how she was at least a little open to it. This man, her best friend, she couldn't imagine him not being here.

"How are you?" She took his hand.

"Worried, now. Why would I be mad at you?"

"Jack."

"Fuck, he's here?!"

"No! God, no!" She smiled and leaned forward, taking his face in her hands and kissing him soundly.

"Hi," he grinned after she was done.

"Hi." She kissed him again, slower and deepening it as he responded happily.

"... and HELLO from me!' Rusty called from the kitchen, having witnessed them, though trying to ignore.

Her eyes widened, "Hi, Rusty, how was your day?" She swatted Andy's shoulder as punishment for not telling her that her son could see them.

"Better than the Lieutenant's."

She smiled at Andy and brought her hand lovingly to his cheek. "Jack told the team about you today."

"Ah, shit ... everything?! That mother fu-"

She stopped him by kissing him again. She hugged him gently afterwards and whispered, "Language, Andy."

"How the hell …"

"Please don't stress about this-"

He breathed. She picked up his phone from the coffee table.

"How did he already know about the blood clot?!"

She pecked at his phone for a few seconds and then held it up to him, a contact of his showing.

Em.

"Emily," he whispered.

"She meant well." Rusty called out.

Sharon interlaced their fingers and pulled his hand to her lips to kiss. "I'm so sorry-"

"It's fine," he adjusted on the couch, leaning back.

"She was probably telling him to leave us alone about … us. I know that Jack has been complaining to Ricky about… things … but Emily must have tried to warn him to be nice."

"Well, she failed miserably."

Sharon winced, "Yes, maybe."

He groaned in pain and frustration.

"You alright? Want to go lay down? Have you eaten?"

He pulled her down and she kissed him carefully.

"Okay in there," Rusty warned.

"Mind your business," Andy yelled and kissed her again.

Sharon sighed against his lips and whispered, "Not nice, Andy."

"I'm sorry, kid."

"It's okay, I'm sorry, too..."

Sharon gave Andy a glare. "You have nothing to be sorry about, Rusty. Andy shouldn't have been an ass. I'm going to blame the pain-"

"No, I just want to kiss my girlfriend while I watch t.v.! It's not disgusting or inappro-"

"Andy," she hissed.

"Sorry," he closed his eyes. "Maybe I will go lay down."

She helped him up a bit and watched him shuffle down the hallway. She smiled as he walked through to her room, not Rusty's, which was now his. He was a toddler. She shook her head.

"I'm sorry," Rusty now joined her on the couch. "This is all new to me …"

"You shouldn't be sorry and I'm sorry if we make you uncomfortable." She added in a whisper, "Sorry he's cranky."

"It's understandable. And you don't really ... make me that uncomfortable, it's just … weird."

She gave him a sympathetic look.

"I'll try to not say anything."

"If you are uncomfortable in your own home, you better say something."

"Well, that's not fair to you."

"Life isn't fair, and we all have to work together to make life easier for each other, sometimes."

"So you two … things are good?"

She smiled brightly. "Very."

"Good."

"How are you?"

"Okay, busy, interviewed Slider, speaking with his attorney tomorrow…"

"Well, get some sleep, then. I'll try not to wake you if I have an early call."

"Mmkay. Love you, night!"

She made sure the front door was locked and all of the lights out except for the t.v. "You comfortable?"

"Mmmhmm," he answered, flipping through the channels.

"Night, love."

He smiled after her when she turned to go to her room.

She slowly cracked open her door, peering through to see him relaxing on her side of the bed, leaning back onto her pillows. She sat next to him and ran her fingers through his hair. He opened his eyes and smiled up to her.

"Sorry I'm an ass."

"You aren't an ass, Andy. You're a child. A little baby who is having a very bad few days."

"I just … fuck, I'm so tired of resting and doing nothing and not being with you."

"You're with me. I'm here …"

"You know what I mean."

"I do." She leaned forward carefully to kiss his lips sweetly.

"And I'm scared."

She gazed into his eyes for a long moment. "Me, too."

He took her hand and kissed it. "I don't want to mess up your-"

"Shut up."

"Sharon-"

"You're not messing anything up. Andy, my job, as your girlfriend, as your best friend," she pecked his lips, "is to take care of you and nag you to do the right thing. To rest, to go to the doctor, take it easy and-"

"I love you." He pulled her in for another kiss. He couldn't get enough.

"Mmmm, I love you. Go to your room."

"No, I'm staying here until you are in bed, then I'm cuddling with you for ten minutes, and then I will go to my room."

She stared and was amused at his confidence. "Oh really?"

He shot those puppy dog eyes at her.

"Fine," she gave up, "but you promise me, sleep in your room tonight."

"Yes, I promise."

"Okay. Deal, then." She stood and started undressing, trying to ignore his eyes following her, ogling as he does, but smiling once or twice over to him, feeling beautiful. She was so lucky.

Season 2 - Episode 12 - after 'Pick Your Poison'

November 24, 2013 (but uh, not Thanksgiving, lol)

"Stay at the condo with two officers on the other side of that door, or come with me?" She couldn't believe that she was going to leave Rusty alone after all of the letters were finally revealed, but she was livid. She would not be able to sleep tonight if she didn't settle this.

Rusty shrugged, "Where are you going and why are you so mad?"

"I'm not mad at you," she sighed and stopped to look at him. "I need to speak with Lieutenant Flynn."

"Where?"

"His house. There will be yelling."

"I'll stay here."

"Good idea."

"What happened? What did he do?"

"Just, went over my head on something, really … um, broke my confidence and he needs to know immediately …" She wasn't sure what to say. She was furious with Provenza for mentioning Option 3 to Rusty and angry with Chief Taylor for not having her back, but Andy… Her ears grew hot. "He needs to know immediately that it's not … not acceptable."

"What did he do?"

Sharon knew that Rusty would find out. "Give Emily a call. She'll fill you in." She turned quickly after grabbing her things, greeting the two officers as she locked the door behind her and walked toward the elevator.

She reached his house after the long drive. She'd never been here before, didn't know what she was doing, but allowed her anger to drive her decisions.

She knocked.

He answered. "Hey, Cap!" He was nothing if not surprised.

She quickly brushed past him and looked around, entering the living room and placing her purse and keys on the coffee table.

"Sharon, what's wrong? Rusty okay? You oka-"

"Stop talking," she interrupted in a calm voice, surprising herself.

He stopped, sitting in the chair opposite her on the couch.

She spoke excruciatingly slow, "You… told… my daughter… about the… letters. I … have never, ever," her voice rose, "been so angry." She was fuming.

He was mortified.

"I want to punch you, Andy," she laughed, feeling like she was going a little crazy. "I have never been so disapp-"

"You're fucking kidding, right?" He stood angrily and paced behind the chair.

She was shocked. How dare he…

"Sharon, of COURSE I told her, and you… you didn't even tell Rusty, my god-"

"Lieutenant, it was NONE of your business, none of-"

"Fuck yes it's my god-damned business!" He yelled.

"Emily-"

"Called me today. She hadn't heard from you in a while …"

"ONE DAY! I didn't speak with her for one day! Again, HOW is this your business?!"

"She made it my business, Rusty made it my business, YOU made it my business."

"How the hell?! How did we do that?!"

"Sharon," he stepped toward her, she remained seated on the couch and looked away.

He moved to sit back in the chair.

"She's worried about you."

"I know, but-"

"I'm worried about you."

She met his eyes.

"You don't have to take on all of this alone."

"I'm not … Provenza-"

"Yes, he's … he's involved, but you're the one that gets the earful from the ungrateful little sh-"

"Watch it," she warned, getting riled up again.

"SHIT. He's an ungrateful little fucking shit, Sharon! I hear him yelling at you often, he kept all of those god-damned letters from you, and now YOU get threatening letters and you aren't the least bit worried about that?! No Option 3, seriously, how stupid is that?! This psycho is threatening you now, and you don't tell Rusty, or Emily, or me, I mean, I find out through-"

She stood, needing to get out of here.

"Sharon."

"You call Rusty an 'ungrateful little fucking shit', and me, stupid for not wanting to put his life in danger, and you want me to stay here? You think it matters to me that you found out last? Or at all?! Who … who do you think you are, Andy?! Stop corresponding with my daughter. You worry her and Ricky now …"

"Hey, I only met him for the first time when she called a few days ago-"

"Well, STOP IT." She yelled.

"What is your issue with this, that you can't lie freely to your children? You're mad that I tell them the truth? You're angry that she's worried and knows that she can't TRUST YOU to do that?" Silence.

"Fuck you."

He sat frozen as she walked out.

A full minute passed. Fuck.

He stood, grabbed his keys and phone, and opened his front door. She was sitting on the top step on his porch. His heart stopped racing. He let out a soft sigh and closed his front door behind him.

Sitting next to her, a few feet between them, he just watched a few vehicles pass by, hearing his neighbor's kids playing in the backyard two houses down. He didn't want to say anything before she did.

She wiped the tears from her cheeks, looking away from him so he couldn't see, but he knew. She knew he knew.

A few moments passed and they were fine just sitting there.

She hummed.

He nodded.

She whispered so low that he barely caught it. "I'm sorry."

He kept staring at her. He'd already forgiven her.

She met his eyes after a long silence.

He smiled sadly. "I'm sorry."

She drew in a deep breath and looked out again at the neighborhood. She'd already forgiven him. "Dinner?"

Season 4 - Episode 18 - days after 'Penalty Phase'

December 28, 2015

"Oh my god, Andy," she barely was able to let out by his side. Her heart was racing, and she was still coming down.

"Fuck." Was all he could say as he tried to catch his breath next to her. He couldn't even think straight.

She rolled over and slid her leg between his and wrapped her arm around him as they both breathed heavily. Pulling up the sheet, she kissed his lips. "Mmmm, you're amazing."

He grinned. "I love it when you're loud."

She blushed a little. She kissed his neck. "I love you."

"God," he squeezed her closer, "I'm so fucking lucky, jesus … never …" he was still trying to catch his breath. "I've never," he rolled her on top of him, "fuck, Sharon, it's never been like this …"

"Hmmm, we do fit nicely together," she grinned against his lips.

"Never fucking leave me."

She chuckled and squirmed away, needing a shower.

"What," he pretended to be upset, "you're leaving me?"

They were at his house, which she loved… for one, it was him … she loved all aspects of him and being in his house surrounded by his things, just made her happy, she couldn't explain it. And second, they could have sex anywhere, any way, and at any time. They'd christened every single room already, but she preferred his bed … and the kitchen … and the bathroom. She shook her head quickly and smiled.

She blushed as she sat up, remembering how the night started. "All of my clothes are in the kitchen."

He just smiled up to her, running his hand down her back slowly.

"Shower?"

"Mmmhmm," he answered, leaning up for a quick kiss. "You're so fucking beautiful."

She shook her head and kissed him again, standing to head to the shower. "Plane leaves in six hours …"

He groaned.

"What?!"

"I just wish we could blink our eyes and be there."

"Me, too." They were heading to New York City for six nights to ring in the new year and spend some time with Emily. Andy was more excited than Sharon and she loved it. They wouldn't visit his family this trip but were planning on another trip soon. She just missed her girl.

They'd planned everything out and didn't have much time for anything other than Emily and a few touristy stops. Rusty preferred staying home since Gus was around and Sharon was fine with that. Sharon Beck was back in town, but hadn't contacted Rusty, so she decided to let the woman acclimate and do her thing. She couldn't worry anymore about her … or fret about what could happen … she had to let go, and Andy helped her so much with that.

They also have a full ten days each off of work. That was new, but planned in advance, as well. Taylor wasn't thrilled, but Provenza was. The man loved to be in charge.

After their shower, she helped him finish packing. "Why do you fold these like this?'

"I dunno." Andy had never thought about it. He wrapped his arms around her from behind.

"And these go here, honey," she moved some things around.

"Yes, ma'am."

She smiled, "Sorry."

"No problem, you can pack it all, babe." He mumbled into the hair at her neck.

"No, you do the rest, I'm going to call Nicole."

He watched her walk away, dialing his daughter. He sat next to the suitcase and just took a deep breath, shaking his head at how his life had turned out. He always thought that he'd be the grumpy old Lieutenant yelling at kids on his lawn and dying of old age on the job, unhappy and … just old.

She made him feel twenty-five … well, thirty-five … most days … he smiled, hearing Sharon laugh loudly from the kitchen. She was speaking with one of the boys.

He moved over to his dresser and dug down to the bottom of his underwear drawer, pulling out the brown little box, opening it up. He liked to look at her ring often, just to remind himself that one day, it'll happen. One day, he'll work up the nerve. One day, she'll wear it. Not today, though. He put it back and went to find her. He missed her terribly.
