Due to the stress of the hospital, Loid and Yor decided to let Anya stay home from class to relax and take a little break. She had woken up finally, with a stretch to wake herself and limbs up, she looked over to see where her furry companion currently and always stayed. Bond perked up from his rope toy with a ball at the ends, noticing his best friend was awake. He barked happily and began nudging her with his wet nose, wanting so much to be petted.
Anya genuinely smiled for the first time in a good while due to the incidents at school and last night, she scooted closer to the edge of her bed and ruffled up Bond's fur under his ears. The two finally finished their little play session as Anya took a look at her childhood Bond-man clock she refused to get rid of, it showed it was one in the afternoon.
Hearing her stomach rumble, she looked at Bond who then walked to the door, pawing at it to be let out to eat.
"Come on, Bond. Let's go and get some food," with his bark of approval, the two ventured out of her room.
Her parents had left for their "day jobs", Anya knew they were a spy and an assassin respectively but never spoke a word to anyone, other than Bond, of course.
She scooped Bond's food into his new food bowl, the last one broke during their rough play sessions by accident a few months back. Yor must have forgotten to put it back on the counter before leaving and the two didn't notice until it was too late.
Bond went happily to his food while Anya scurried around the kitchen making one of the few things that she could make without burning down their apartment, a cream cheese bagel with a side of her favorite peanuts and cocoa. The poor girl has had bad luck with the toaster in the past.
Grabbing her plate and her chimera plush she kept all her life, and the only other toy Bond didn't explode in a jealous fit. She sat her snack down, along with the plushie as she went to get her drink and the remote. Sitting down with her bagel, Anya began channel surfing, Bond-man wasn't going to be on for a couple more hours, anyway.
She finally settled on a news broadcast about the National Unity Party, tuning it out as she finished her late breakfast and the cocoa. Operation Strix finally ended almost a year ago with Donovan behind bars. Which made her happy and yet sad still to think she finally got her own family but the constant anxiety knowing now that Anya is an Esper, she still is afraid to be abandoned once more.
The sound of the phone ringing brought her back to reality, just as her thoughts were going to the forbidden zone. Anya placed the used dishes, along with Bond's food bowl to be cleaned later in the sink before grabbing the phone.
"Hello?"
"Anya! How are you feeling?"
It was Becky, with commotion in the background, Anya took it for sy-on boy and his lackeys arguing.
"I'm fine, Becky. What is going on with sy-on boy? I can hear them from here," Anya asked while pulling the phone away to not hear the yelling.
"I don't know, something moronic probably, knowing Desmond. Anyway, is it okay for us to bring the work you missed? I am making the idiots tag along."
Hearing the protest between the group, she again pulled the phone away from her ear, 'sy-on boy is so damn loud..' Bond now looked at her with a head tilt and sat by her as she patted his head.
"Berlint to Anya, are you okay? Is it alright if we come over and help with the work you missed?"
"Yeah, sure, come on over. I'll put Bond in my room so he won't cause trouble,"
"No! Leave him out, he can give moral support and be great company!" Becky shouted in protest which got the attention of the staff, telling her and the boys to finally quiet down.
Bond, who heard Becky from the phone, seemed to nod his head as the jingle of his tag made noise. Anya smiled at him and quietly laughed at Becky, Damian and the lackeys.
"Okay, Bond can stay in the living room with us then, I'll let mama and papa know we will have company so they won't be upset when they return home,"
"Sounds good, we will be there soon! Yes, Desmond, that includes you too!" Becky hung up the phone as her and Damian's fight started to escalate.
Taking a minute to process what just happened, Anya started laughing and shaking her head at her friends. As she calmed down a few moments later, she called her parents' workplaces to let them know of her friends coming over.
Giving Bond a quick pet she got up with a stretch while grabbing her clothes to take a quick shower and brush her hair and teeth to at least look presentable. Bond took the opportunity to guard the door while chomping on the tennis ball portion of his rope-tennis ball combo.
Not long after the refreshing shower and getting dressed, the two heard the doorbell and some knocking. Class was dismissed, so Becky, Damian, Ewen and Emile had arrived already to help her catch up on some missed work.
Thankfully, a school break starts next week. Just in time for summer. Meaning, finals were vast approaching.
Bond let out a bark to let Anya know someone was at the door, she stepped out of her bedroom and walked over to the door, checking the peep hole to confirm it was her friends, she unlocked the door and stepped aside.
"Bond, you'll need to move so they can come inside," Anya called her fluffy companion over by clicking her tongue as he stood up, shook his body to fix his fur and trotted over to his favorite human, taking a seat.
The group of friends walked into the Forger apartment with their bags and a couple of her books and assignments.
Becky placed her things down and gave her friend a hug, along with a scratch upon Bond's head. "Hey, Bond! How are you feeling after everything that happened yesterday?" Becky asked while taking off her shoes, replacing them with spare slippers Anya put out for everyone while the boys were checking the place out from the door before changing into their own spare shoes not long after.
Bond himself chose to leave the group alone after getting some pets from Becky, he chose to take a nap by the bay window in the living room beside the entertainment center and TV.
While the girls were finishing the study and make up work session station with some drinks and snacks, Emile nudged Damian who had been awfully silent since his earlier "protest" about coming over here to help Shorty, though it was clear to his lackeys he really wanted to see her. He won't admit it himself, of course.
Damian snapped out of his trace he didn't know he had gotten into, remembering the gift he had brought for Anya. After finally changing into the slippers, he walked over to her and tapped her shoulder.
"Hey, Forger, here. I.. brought you something.." not sure how he should say the words, he shoved the bag of peanuts to her, doing his best to hide the pink dusting creeping up his cheeks and ears.
Her apple green eyes lit up with stars as she spotted her favorite snack in her friend's outstretched hand, taking them happily as she began to fight the bag to get the contents inside.
'Whoever sealed this, clearly didn't want anyone to get their hands on the salty snack,' Anya concluded with a pout, defeated by the bag of unopened peanuts.
The peanuts sat at the end of the table, occasionally getting death stares from Anya since she wasn't getting any and couldn't open it, her father sort of banned knives and other sharp things from the apartment, well, at least from her mother who has a weird obsession with sharp instruments, included along were the scissors.
The group finally grabbed their books and supplies and sat them on the coffee table where they all sat, it was more comfy than the dining table, plus it was a bit easier for Bond to come in and become a "fluffy stress reliever", mostly for Anya, of course.
"Which subject are we going to tackle first?" Asked Becky once she finally found her favorite sparkly pen and matching eraser.
"No math first.." replied Anya with a sweat drop appearing, she is slowly regretting this.
"How about language? It's the bosses worst subject after all and he needs one more Stella!" Chirped up Emile, as Damian gave him a whack with one of the pillows from the couch.
"However it is true that I need one more star, I think we should start with History."
After the semi-constant bickering, the group settled on History first, then Science, Math, and lastly, Language.
It was late at night when the pair finished most of their studies and helping Anya catch up with her missed class work, Emile, Ewen and Becky slipped into the kitchen to put their dinner plates away, they ordered pizza not too long ago, Becky paid but had the others chip in, minus her best friend.
Damian and Anya, however, were sitting in their same spots as before, with him helping with her worst subject, math and in return, as she helped him with language when she needed a slight break from numbers and letters being mixed together.
"How do you think it's going, Blackbell?" Ewen stretched after a moment while looking at their friends still at the coffee table.
Looking back at the said pair, she gave a slight smile, "she hasn't lost her mind yet and he hasn't lost his temper. I would call that a win,"
"Anya looks like she's about to pass out from the math equations for a good while though. She seemed like her head was spinning," Emile spoke up after grabbing the last amount of tea that was made earlier. It was still warm which was amazing.
"She will be alright, finals are almost over along with class. She may need to rest and recover still." Just as she spoke, her phone began to ring, signaling that her chauffeur had arrived. Becky finished stuffing her school bag as she jogged over and gave Anya a hug goodbye. Not long afterwards, Ewen and Emile's chauffeurs had also arrived.
Bond had long retired to Anya's room after having his dinner, he was happy and exhausted with all the free pets, along with occasional ear rubs.
Finally finished their math and language 'tutoring session' they both got up to stretch and place their dinnerware in the sink, Anya's head was still spinning from the equations along with the stress from the hospital, and everything else lately. Not sure which affected her more really.
Feeling a bit lightheaded, Anya then stumbled to the couch, holding her head and nose. It began bleeding. Damian heard her stumble around and went to help her to the couch before she hit the ground or the coffee table. Finally getting her to lie down and making sure she won't fall off, he ran to the bathroom and grabbed a warm cloth to put on her forehead and her eyes, also grabbing a couple of tissues for her nose.
A moment later, he came back into the living room and placed the cloth on her head and across her eyes while dabbing her nose to stop the bleeding.
'You've overworked yourself.. you just got out of the hospital..' Damian thought to himself with a sigh as he sat down beside her, waiting for her parents to come home from work. He however couldn't help the small smile that appeared as well as the thought, 'you're an idiot, shorty..'
Due to all the recent commotion, Bond walked out of Anya's bedroom with a yawn and saw his human lying unconscious on the couch. He was by her side quickly and rested his chin on her hand, giving her leg a gentle nudge every few moments. Damian couldn't help feeling bad for the furry companion as he reached over and gave him a stroke and the best reinsurance smile he could muster, "she will be okay, Bond. She is just tired, don't worry."
A soft whine escaped from Bond before coming to a stop as his ears twitched at the sound of the door unlocking as he went over to get a sniff of familiar scents. Yor entered their apartment first, followed of course by Loid.
"Damian? What are you still doing here? What happened to Anya?" A panicked Yor walked over and kneeling down next to the teens as Damian was kneeling on the ground.
A/N: I'm so sorry this took so long to be released. Please forgive me if this seems rushed and the very long wait. I've been writing this off and on since late June or early July. Hope you enjoy! I don't know when the next chapter is going to be. Stayed tuned!
