First Words
"Mama. Say Mama," Annabelle said as the year-old twins looked at her with a slightly blank look. She had noticed they would look at each other like they were have a conversation, but neither of them had said a word.
"Have they said anythin' yet?" Noah asked as he walked to her.
"No. Th'doctor said they should be sayin' a few words by now."
"Guess some kids talk when they're ready."
"Aye," she said with a sigh then lifted Murphy off the floor and placed him in the stroller. She lifted Connor up then placed him in the stroller and they headed for the door. Noah opened the door as Annabelle moved the stroller outside and they headed down the hallway.
A short time later, Annabelle and Noah headed down the pavement while the twins looked around and Connor smiled, pointed at things. Murphy nodded as he held onto his teddy bear, Fuzz, and he placed his thumb in his mouth. Annabelle reached down to remove Murphy's thumb from his mouth and he pouted.
"Noah," his brother, Sibeal, called out as he walked closer and Noah sighed.
"Sibeal," Noah said with a nod.
"I need t'talk with you."
"Now?"
"It's important."
Annabelle saw the look in Noah's eyes as Noah nodded and he and Sibeal walked away. Annabelle watched them talking while Connor looked around then noticed something hanging off of the ladder of the construction truck parked nearby. He looked up at her when he made some soft noises and Annabelle looked at him.
"What's wrong, Luv?" she asked and he pointed at what he was looking at. Annabelle looked at the rope when she smiled and she knelt down on her haunches. "That is a rope. Can you say that? Rope."
"Rope," Connor said with smile.
"Yes! Rope!"
"Rope!" Connor said while clapping his hands and Murphy frowned.
"No!" Murphy said, loudly.
Annabelle and Noah had said that word often to the boys, but she wondered why Murphy was so angry.
"Rope!" Connor shouted.
"No!" Murphy shouted.
"Rope! Rope! Rope!"
"No! No! No!"
They started pushing each other as Annabelle stood up, sighed and lightly shook her head.
