"Asami!" Korra hollered as she took off in a sprint.

Asami screamed as she felt the powerful, searing pain of the lightning enter her body. She tried to move as she'd seen Mako do when he'd trained with bending lightning, but it felt like she was submerged in wet concrete.

Korra reached her and took her hand, redirecting the lightning back into the sky. She felt Asami go limp and caught her before she could hit the ground. She looked into Asami's face. Her eyes were barely open.

"Asami? Can you hear me?" She asked her voice thick with emotion.

"Korra." Asami managed. She squeezed the hand that Korra was still holding, letting her know that she was okay.

Korra picked her up and carried her inside to her room where she laid her in the bed. She used her waterbending to draw water from the faucet in Asami's bathroom.

She's used the water to coat her hands as she ran her hands over Asami's body, searching for injuries but found none.

"I'm okay. Just… Feel tired. Gonna nap." Asami managed.

Korra just watched her until she saw the long even breaths indicating that she'd fallen asleep.

"You scared me, woman." Korra admitted.

"How could you be so reckless? What would I have done if you'd died?" She asked the sleeping engineer.

She watched her for a moment longer before closing her eyes and pressing her forehead to Asami's.

Asami gasped at the contact.

"Korra." She said in her sleep.

"I'm here Asami." Korra replied, though the other woman was still asleep.

In their own snip it of eternity, they breathed in unison.

Korra opened her eyes and pulled slightly away from Asami to look at her face.

She admired her perfect eyebrows, the almond shape of her eyes, her high cheekbones, the fullness of her lips.

She let her eyes linger there, drawn in by them. She could feel herself leaning toward them and did nothing to stop the urge to press her own lips to those of her friend. Korra could feel Asami's breath against her lips. Could almost taste it.

All too soon the moment ended as Asami turned on her side in her sleep, turning her back to Korra.

Korra shook off the trance-like state and covered Asami with her linen. She thought back to when she'd seen Asami's flames.

Korra looked at the road just in time to see that they were about to crash into a vine.

She blinked and the vine was moving away from purple flames.

"Purple. I know Azula produced blue flames. But I've never heard of anyone being able to produce purple, the hottest flames." Korra thought to herself.

She was just about to leave the room when she heard Asami say her name again.

"Korra." She whispered.

She walked around and got in on the other side of the bed.

"I'm here." Korra reassured. She stretched out on her back next to the genius CEO and clasped her hands together over her stomach,

She listened to her friend's even breathing and before she knew it, she too fell asleep.

Hours later the sound of running water awakened Korra. She turned to see the other side of the bed empty.

She looked toward the bathroom, where the sound of the shower came from.

"How long was I asleep?" She wondered before looking at the clock. Four hours had passed.

Korra stood and stretched before leaving the room and making her way to the kitchen.

She busied herself by making lunch for her and Asami. She went to the fridge and took out all of the necessary ingredients.

She put on a pot of water to boil then started cutting up the carrots and broccoli.

Meanwhile, Asami finished up her shower and got ready and followed her nose to the kitchen.

"Whatcha cooking?" She asked.

"Volcano turtleduck." Korra answered as she moved on to cutting up the marinated meat.

As the water came to a boil she placed the knife down and put the veggies in the pot.

Asami moved to sit at the island as she studied Korra.

"I've eaten a lot of things but never this dish." Asami commented.

"It's something my mom used to make when I was going through my firebending training." Korra said.

"I'm excited to try it!" Asami exclaimed.

She clasped her hands and rested her head on them. It was then that she realized it was raining.

Korra started on the volcano sauce, adding different kinds of peppers, all different colors.

After 20 more minutes, the meal was complete. Korra plated the seared turtleduck over rice. Then she poured the sauce over it.

"Aaaand it's done." Korra said, handing Asami her plate.

Asami took it and savored the tantalizing scent of the chili peppers. She gasped as the realization hit her.

"That's why I've been craving spicy stuff. I'm a firebender." She said out loud.

Korra looked at her and smiled.

"Taste it." She said simply.

Asami took the chopsticks and picked up a thin slice of the turtleduck and brought it to her lips. Her eyes closed of their own accord as the full flavor hit her taste buds.

"Korra. This is amazing! I should ask you to cook from now on." Asami said.

Korra finally sat down next to Asami and took a bite of her own.

"Mmm," she moaned, "Just like mom used to make."

Asami looked at Korra out of the side of her eye.

"I might have to ask you for this recipe." She said.

Korra paused and just looked at Asami.

"What?" Asami asked.

"Do you realize what you just said?" Korra asked.

"Do I realize what I said to make you look at me like I sprouted a second head? No. I do not." Asami answered.

"In the Water tribe, if you ask for a childhood recipe, you're basically asking for that person's hand in marriage." Korra explained.

Asami thought about it for a moment.

"Are you pranking me? Because your mom didn't explain that when I asked for her recipes while you were sick." Asami said.

"You did?" Korra asked, busted.

Asami nodded, proud that she didn't fall for Korra's prank.

"I'm gonna get you one of these days." Korra replied.

"Bring it on." Asami bantered.

They finished dinner with more light conversation.

Korra collected the dishes and put them in the dishwasher, but didn't start it, as Asami moved to the couch.

"Anything in particular you want to drink tonight?" Korra asked as she prepared to tend the bar.

"No. Anything is fine." Asami replied as she turned on some chill tunes.

She turned around to watch Korra as she expertly started on making two Buttershots using butter pecan ice cream.

She was mezmerised by Korra's movements and couldn't take her eyes off of her.

Korra didn't notice and continued her masterpiece.

Once finished, she gave Asami her bowl first before sitting down next to her and starting on her own bowl.

Asami tasted the bowl of what looked like regular butter pecan ice cream and smiled.

"You like?" Korra asked watching Asami's lips turn up.

"It's delish! I can't even taste the alcohol that I watched you put in this." Asami complemented.

"Thank you. I thought you'd like it." Korra said.

"Yeah, it's especially good after the Volcano turtleduck." Asami noticed.

"Ah so you've caught on to my secret recipe huh?" Korra teased.

"It is definitely not something that I've experienced before." Asami said.

"Well, I hope you're ready because that not the only first of yours that I'm going to take." Korra said fully knowing the innuendo.

Asami choked on the ice cream which made Korra laugh.

She glared at Korra.

"Not funny. Ice cream almost came out of my nose." Asami complained.

"You're right. It's not funny. It's hilarious." Korra said, laughing again.

Asami reached behind her and grabbed pillow which she then threw at Korra.

"Now now, in all seriousness, I want to get an early start on your training tomorrow, so we've gotta go to bed early." Korra instructed.

Asami agreed and collected their bowls.

"So we can either watch a movie before bed or watch a few episodes of Black Clover." Korra continued.

"I vote for Back Clover." Asami said.

"I knew you would." Grumbled Korra, as she rolled eyes but went from Spotify to Crunchyroll on the smart tv.

"I will always choose anime." Asami defended as she loaded the dishwasher and started it up.

She moved back to the couch and sat closer to Korra that she'd meant to. She curled her legs underneath her.

"Since when do I care how close I sit to Korra?" Asami thought.

Korra turned and looked at her.

"Ready for me to start it?" Korra asked.

Asami went down her mental checklist:

"Blanket? Check. Water? I'll get some later."

"Yep. I'm ready." Asami answered.

Korra pressed play and set down the remote next to her.

After a couple of hours of watching Black Clover, they said goodnight and went their separate ways to bed.
