The next day Graham is taking dinner out of the oven when there is a knock on the door, "Ryan can you please get that, it's probably Ace."
"You sure you don't want to greet her at the door?" Ryan teases Graham.
"Ryan."
"I will get everything else; you go greet Ace," Ryan says.
Graham puts the dish on the table on a potholder and heads to the door. He walks to the door and opens it up to see his new favorite site of a smiling Ace. "Hello Ace," he smiles at her as he steps aside to let her in, "you look lovely."
"You don't look bad yourself," they stand still for a second not knowing how to greet the other, both knowing they want their first kiss to be special. Ace decides to lean up and kiss his cheek. He wraps his arms around her and gives her a hug.
"Dinner is ready, can I take your jacket?"
"Thank you," Graham is putting Ace's jacket in the closet as Ryan enters the room fully, having been standing there watching the two act oddly. Ace and Graham look towards the dining area.
"Ace, this is Ryan, Ryan, this is Ace."
"Nice to meet you Ryan," Ace steps forward, and shakes Ryan's hand.
"Nice to finally meet the person my Grandad hasn't been able to stop talking about for the past month and a half."
"Ryan!"
"No need to say something like that, Liam, and Tegan probably grew tired of hearing about you. Especially Tegan as she already knows you."
"You two have told each other how you feel I take it," Ryan looks between the two as they smile at each other.
"Yesterday," they say together.
"I have been telling him," Ryan gestures towards Graham, "to tell you since you first met him."
Ace faces her new partner, "you liked me from the beginning?"
"That night he couldn't stop talking about you when I called him."
"The feeling was and is mutual Graham."
"Before you two do something I don't really want to see, the dinner is getting cold." Ace and Graham follow Ryan into the dining room. Ace and Graham sit right next to each other. By the end of the meal their chairs are as close as possible. "So Ace, though Graham here has told me a bunch about you, I still don't know much about how you started A Charitable Earth."
"I have had a few thousand secretly put into a bank when I traveled with the Doctor when I was mad at him one day when we were traveling."
"So you went behind her back?"
"When I traveled with the Time Lord, the Doctor was a male."
"From what you have told me, he sometimes acted like a father to you."
"He did, I can't remember if I told you this part, Graham, but while I was talking to my Doctor in holographic form, he did say that one part about watching children grow up is the joy of watching them fly, in his Scottish brough."
"You didn't."
"That doesn't leave this room, if I know Tegan she will bring it up every chance she gets."
"I won't say a word, Ace."
"Neither will I." Ryan says with a smile of his own, getting the attention of the two. They both look at him smiling bashfully. "Since we are done eating, I am going to head out." Ryan excuses himself. After they hear the door shut, Ace and Graham look at each other.
"That seems to happen a lot, whenever we are together we tend to forget those around us."
"And the time, to the point of setting timers, so we know when to head back."
"What does that make us?"
"Two people who get lost in the other easily, I do get lost in your hazel eyes often enough." Ace looks down for a quick second then looks up biting her bottom lip.
"I get lost in your baby blues." Hazel and blue eyes meet both sparkling with joy. "I can't remember the last time I had felt like this. I have been in a number of relationships, but none of them were like this."
"Like what?"
"Healthy and so far running smoothly, and the fact I can be totally honest with you."
"I am glad that you can be honest with me."
"Me too, I know I can be honest with Tegan and Nyssa, but it is different with you. Though I think it's because of my feelings for you."
"I understand, my feelings for you have been growing by each day that passes." Graham knows he shouldn't mention that his heart is between two women, his dead wife and Ace.
"Is Ryan ok with you dating someone?"
"I think he is ok with it."
"I am glad, I hope he knows that if he ever wants to talk to someone we know a few people who have been through a similar situation, like Nyssa." They move to the couch.
"He has only heard about Nyssa, I think it would be good for them to meet."
"Same here, though I would love to be around you more."
"Any amount of time I can spend with you is a dream." Ace lightly laughs at that. They continue to talk on the couch about an hour passes when the door opens.
Ryan and Yaz enter, "so my family is curious what you will like to eat next weekend," Yaz says as she plops on the chair Graham bought to replace the one the Doctor broke when the TARDIS landed on it.
"Hello Yaz." Graham and Ace face the two who came into the house, both naturally resituating themselves to where Graham has his arm around Ace's shoulder and she has her feet curled under her.
"So Ace what will it be?"
"I am easy when it comes to food."
"Thank you for finishing that sentence Ace." Both Ace and Graham grow crimson.
"Does Ryan not want to think about what can go on behind closed doors," Yaz teases.
"Please don't," Ryan looks at Yaz.
"Graham, do you still carry sarnies with you everywhere you go," Yaz asks the man on the couch.
"No need, there is time to eat nowadays, unlike traveling with the Doc."
"The Time Lord really didn't like us eating that much. I had to remind them often that I needed to eat, though they always made sure to give me money."
"So you are saying if Graham was to carry sandwiches you wouldn't mind," Ryan jokingly asks.
"Maybe not, though half the time that we are together we are sharing a meal."
With an eyebrow wiggle, "sharing."
"Not like that Yaz, we have our own food and eat together."
"Though that may change sometime."
"YAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ," Ryan nearly screams.
"I think I should go if only to save Ryan's mind."
"I'll walk you to your car Ace," Graham looks at the young woman sitting on a chair from the table. "Behave Yaz." Graham follows Ace out and Yaz turns to Ryan.
"Man Ryan, you know it is easy to embarrass you."
"I just don't want to think of Graham doing something like that."
"In some ways I can see it, I just wanted to rile you and see how red those two would get, with that I should go." Yaz walks back to the apartment that her family lives in, and goes to the window.
"What are you doing," her mother asks.
"Spying on Graham and Ace."
"Why?"
"They are officially together."
"Then leave them be and you will see them soon."
Down below in the parking lot Ace and Graham are standing forehead touching forehead. "I had a great time tonight Graham, dinner was perfect."
"I hope so, you deserve the best dinners."
"Graham, is there anyway the other two will be spying on us?"
"Yaz's family's apartment faces us."
"Oh," Ace puts her hands on Graham's chest.
"Yea," Graham steps back sighing, "you know we should find a way to go on a date where we won't be interrupted or spied on."
"You mean like our lunch dates this past week?"
He grabs her hand, "I want a date with you that has no time clock, where it is just you and no one else around. Yes, a lot of the time when I am with you the world seems to melt away."
"Graham," Ace steps closer to him and kisses his cheek. "We will have that date, though it's not going to be next week as we already have plans."
"How about the week after."
"My place, yes, K9 will be back, but the old dog will leave us alone."
"Good."
"Goodnight Graham."
"Night Ace," Ace gets in her car.
