Frozen

It has been really cold at Berk lately, the teens and their dragons were forced to lock themselves up in the dragon pens at the academy

Hiccup chose to continue with their training, so he stood next to a board

"So, as you can see by the chart, proper wing control can be achieved by-" Hiccup got interrupted when a fire blast hit the board "Okay, who shot the fireball"

Snotlout whistled innocently but Hookfang's mouth was smoking making it pretty obvious who did it

"Why are you looking at me?" Snotlout asked when he realized that Hiccup was glaring at him

"Come on, guys. I don't want to be here anymore than you do. Can me just get back to training please?" Hiccup asked

"I say we play Twenty Questions instead. Anyone, anyone? Astrid, why do you love me so much?" Snotlout asked almost making Astrid throw up

"Me, me. Okay, I'll go first" Tuffnut said "Question number one: how do you play Twenty Questions?"

"Can we stay focused, even for a second?" Hiccup asked

"We have been stuck inside for a week because of this crazy weather. Just look at Blake" Astrid said as she sharpened her axe

Hiccup looked at Blake and realized that both rider and dragon were asleep

"Hey, why can he sleep?" Snotlout asked

"I'm still awake" Blake said as he opened his eyes

"Then, why can your dragon sleep?" Snotlout asked

"Thunder is also awake" Blake said as Thunder opened his eyes and looked annoyed at Snotlout "Astrid's right, been locked up in here is starting to affect some of us"

Blake gestured at Fishlegs who was playing and talking to Meatlug's claws

"Oh, Mr. Pinky, don't tell the others but you are my favorite" Fishlegs said

Hiccup groaned frustrated before realizing that Barf and Belch were chasing their own tails

"Barf and Belch just found out they have tails" Ruffnut said "And it looks like they really hate the idea"

"Yeah, I got the same way when I found out I had a tail" Tuffnut said before starting to run in circles "You can't hide forever from me invisible tail, I'll get you"

"I might have told Tuffnut he has a tail too" Ruffnut explained to Hiccup

Suddenly the door opened and Stoick entered the pen

"Odin's ghost, it's cold out there" he said as he closed the door "Worse freeze in Berks history, my beard is frozen solid"

"So, father. What brings you to the academy?" Hiccup asked

"Trader Johann hasn't reported to port" Stoick explained "If he's trapped in this storm he won't survive the night, so I was thinking-"

"Oh, yes I can go" Hiccup said without thinking it twice as he ran towards Toothless "You know Toothless can help find Johann's ship in the darkness, he's the perfect dragon for the job"

"Hmm, I don't know" Stoick hesitated

"Please, dad, if you ever cared for me the way a father cares for his son, then you'll let me leave" Hiccup said trying to find an excuse to leave the pen "Listen, if it makes you feel better, Blake will come with me as backup"

"Wait, what?! I never agreed to that!" Blake said as he stood up

Stoick thought for a moment before letting escape a sigh "Just close the door when you leave" he said as he left

"Yes!" Hiccup cheered before Blake punched him on the shoulder

"Next time at least make sure that I'm willing to go" Blake said, so Hiccup smiled awkwardly as he rubbed his shoulder "But… still… thanks… neither me or Thunder want or have the energy to deal with this madness"

Minutes later, Hiccup, Blake and their dragons were flying above the sea but the sun was starting to set

"It's getting too dark even for me" Blake said

"But not dark enough for Toothless" Hiccup said before looking down at his dragon "Do your thing"

Toothless roared trying to find Trader Johann's ship and continued to fly

"Wow, look at that" Hiccup said looking at the sea which got a bit frozen

"Huh, if I remember correctly winters at Outcast Island are pretty cold but not cold enough to freeze the ocean" Blake said just before an idea appeared in his mind "That must be the reason of why Trader Johann haven't reported"

"We better find him quickly" Hiccup said

They flew for a couple of minutes but then a could of frost passed below them. However, there was something in it, something that Hiccup and Blake were able to see

"Whoa! I don't know what that was, but I'm glad we're up here and it's down there" Hiccup said

"Uh… call me crazy if you want, but I've got the feeling that we'll find out what that was later on" Blake said before Toothless roared again and he seemed to find something

"You found something?" Hiccup asked, so Toothless let escape a grunt and nodded "Let's take a better look"

They kept flying for what it seemed to be hours until they saw something in the distance

"That's Trader Johann's ship" Blake said, so they flew towards it

At the ship, Trader Johann was waving his arms trying to get their attention

"Master Hiccup and Mr. Blake, you two are a welcome sight for these wearily eyes he said when Hiccup and Blake got close

Then, Trader Johann got on Toothless' back and began to return to Berk

"In all my years on the briny deep I have never witnessed a breeze quite like this one, ice as thick as Thor's hammer. I even considered abandoning my ship and travel into Berk on foot" Trader Johann said

"Well, we've got you now, so I guess you can enjoy the ride" Blake said

"Excellent. We shall pass the time with stories of my granted adventures that are sure to warm your hearts and stoke the fire of your imagination" Trader Johann said

"Well, I wouldn't mind hearing a few stories" Blake said

That was the moment when Hiccup knew it was going to be a tough and long flight back to Berk

Some hours later, the sun had already rose and Trader Johann was still telling his stories

"But it was not a yak, it was his daughter. I could not believe it, she looked like a yak and her name was 'Yakmine'. And that, young masters, is how the king of Ennuden made me an honorary member of his royal court" Trader Johann narrated

"It was a pretty good story. Right, Hiccup?" Blake asked

Before Hiccup could answer he saw Berk in the distance

"Oh, good, we're here… Thanks Odin" Hiccup said

They quickly landed at the village but something was wrong… there was no one in sight neither Vikings or dragons

"Hmm, not the welcome I'm accustom to but none the less" Trader Johann said

"Where is everyone?" Hiccup asked

"And why do I have a bad feeling all of the sudden?" Blake asked

"This reminds me of the time when I landed on the Island of the Red-" Trader Johann began but stopped when Hiccup raised his hand

"Hello?! Anyone?!" he called but there was no answer

They went to Hiccup's house but they only found a mug on the ground and a light fire burning away

They split trying to find anyone in the village and reunited at the plaza when they finished

"Did anyone see anything?" Hiccup asked

Blake only shook his head to say no

"The whole town is empty" Trader Johann said

"I know. It's very weird" Hiccup said as they continued to walk into the village

Suddenly, they heard something, so they looked where the sound came and saw something moving inside a house

"Johann, stay here. Blake, come with me" Hiccup said

Hiccup and Blake walked inside the house trying to look for what they saw, the house was a mess but there was no sign of whatever they saw

Then, Blake looked up, gasped and pushed Hiccup out of the way just before something heavy fell on top of him

"What the- Fishlegs?!" Hiccup asked when he turned around and saw Fishlegs on top of Blake

"Hiccup! Thank Thor!" Fishlegs said as he hugged Hiccup not bothering to get off Blake

"Uh… Fishlegs… do you mind getting off my back" Blake asked

"Blake! Oh Thor, I'm sorry I fell on top of you" Fishlegs apologized

"It's okay… I've been through worse" Blake said as he got up "I say it literally, remember that time when Hiccup and Toothless fell on top of me inside of the well?"

"A-anyway… could you please tell us what happened?" Hiccup asked

"Fast… really fast… too fast… and their sting… paralyzing sting" Fishlegs said

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, what are you talking about?" Hiccup asked

Fishlegs hesitated for a moment before talking "Speed stingers" he said

"Speed stingers? Here?" Hiccup asked

"Can you tell us how it happened?" Blake asked

"It all started when night fell, as you know they don't fly but they are fast. Faster than any dragon I've ever seen. They hide in the shadows. Scavengers looking for any food they can find, one drop of their venom can paralyze a human or dragon in an instant. They follow a leader who directs them like a war chief. By the time Stoick ordered everyone to the cove, the entire village had been overrun" Fishlegs explained

"Well, where are the Speed Stingers now?" Hiccup asked

"I don't know, the sun came out and they disappeared but they'll be back, they come out at night" Fishegs said

"And why you didn't stay at the cove with everyone else?" Blake asked

Moments later, they were out of the house and saw Meatlug paralyzed on the roof

"Just look at her up there… so majestic" Fishlegs said

"Who did we miss that?" Hiccup asked

"Maybe we were just tired for flying all night" Blake suggested

"Good point" Hiccup said

"She tried to draw them away so I could escape. I just couldn't leave her" Fishlegs said

"How did we miss that?" Trader Johann asked as he walked towards them

Minutes later, they were all trying to get Meatlug off the roof but with a great difficulty

"So, she eats rocks you say? That makes sense" Trader Johann said before Meatlug farted on his face "Oh my, that's quite an effect"

Trader Johann fell from the roof but he landed on Thunder

"Oh… thank you my… Skrill friend" Trader Johann said awkwardly as he got off Thunder's back

"Hiccup… little help here?" Blake asked, so Hiccup and Toothless climbed onto the roof

"Uh, where's Johann?" Hiccup asked

"I'm okay, boys, I landed on this Skrill" Trader Johann said gesturing at Thunder who didn't really understand what happened

"Thanks for catching him, Thunder" Blake said before looking at Fishlegs "So, can you tell us anything about this paralysis?"

"I'm afraid not, there's nothing about it in the Book of Dragons or Bork's papers" Fishlegs said before looking at the sea "How do you think the Speed Stingers got here? They can't fly"

"If I had to guess, I would say because the ocean was frozen solid creating an ice bridge from their island to ours" Hiccup said

"They must have hid themselves in that cloud of frost we saw while looking for Trader Johann" Blake said

"We need to get to the cove right away" Hiccup said

Then, they were able to push Meatlug off the roof who landed on a cart almost crushing Trader Johann in the process

Some time later, they were arriving at the cove. Fishlegs, Blake and Trader Johann were pushing the cart while Hiccup leaded the way

When they entered the cove, they saw a lot of Vikings paralyzed and among them was Stoick

"Dad" Hiccup said sadly

"He gave as good as he got, Hiccup" a voice said, it was Gobber "It took six of those Speed Stingers to freeze the poor bugger"

Then, Stoick tried to speak but only some none understandable mutters came out of his mouth

"You bet, chief" Gobber said

"How do you understand him?" Blake asked as he walked towards them

"Actually, I don't. I just don't want to make him feel worse than he does" Gobber said

"Well, if I had to guess, I'd say he's relieved that Hiccup's back and he can still move" Blake said

"We should have been here, maybe we could have done something" Hiccup said looking at Blake

"I don't think two more dragons and their riders could've made a difference" Blake said

"I'll tell you a thing. Those Stingers would be dinning smoke sturgeon and yak jerky if it wasn't for your father" Gobber said before Stoick began to mutter again "Couldn't agree with you more, Stoick"

"Hiccup!" a voice yelled, Hiccup looked where the voice came and saw Astrid who gave him a hug

"Astrid" Hiccup said before the hug broke "How is everyone else?"

"Everyone is fine. well, except for…" Astrid said with a smile as she gestured at a boulder where a paralyzed Snotlout was and the twins were making him slap himself

"Stop hitting yourself" Ruffnut said

"Stop hitting yourself" Tuffnut said

"Actually, when you think about it, it's not that bad" Astrid said, she definitely was enjoying it

"Come on, your face is not that ugly" Ruffnut said just before Snotlout fell on his face

Some time later, Hiccup was trying to draw a Speed Stinger on the dirt but then he noticed how Astrid was walking towards him

"It's going to be dark soon, the Speed Stingers will be back for the rest of the food. Everyone wants to know what we're going to do" she said

Hiccup looked at Stoick for a moment before looking back at Astrid "Gather the other dragon riders, we're heading out"

Astrid nodded and went to get the others, so minutes later she and the others walked towards Hiccup

"Okay, we're ready" Astrid said

"Guys, these dragons only come out at night, we need to find where they sleep during the day" Hiccup said "The only problem is we need to find their nest before sundown or…"

"How about we don't think about it, please" Astrid said

"Yeah, I think we all have all have an image of what will happen if we don't succeed" Blake said

"We better get going" Hiccup said

"Hold up" a voice said, it was Snotlout who wasn't paralyzed anymore… well… kinda, he was still paralyzed from the neck down "You're not going on a Stinger hunt without me"

Then, since Snotlout was leaning against a boulder, he tried to make himself stand properly, he managed to do it

"Whoa, that's seriously creepy" Tuffnut said

"His paralysis is wearing off… lucky us" Fishlegs said sarcastically

"Snotlout, unless you plan on flying Hookfang with your teeth you're not going anywhere" Astrid said before walking off

"What do you mean? I'm fine" Snotlout said before trying to walk but he only managed to make himself fall "Stupid arms and legs" then, Gustav walked in front of him "Hey, Gustav, get your butt over here"

The other teens were getting their weapons until they saw Snotlout waddling towards them before giving them a salute

"Snotlout Jorgenson reporting for duty" he said

"What the-?" Astrid asked

Hiccup looked behind Snotlout and saw Gustav

"I'm Snotlout's arms and legs, Hiccup" he said "And together we are…"

"Guslout!" Snotlout and Gustav cheered

Hiccup, Astrid and Blake looked at them for a few seconds before Blake began to burst into laughter

"Please tell me this is a joke… because that's probably the funniest thing I've seen this whole week" he laughed

"I'm serious. Hiccup, you need as much dragon power as you can get" Snotlout said

"I can't believe I'm going to say this, but he's right" Astrid said

"You're kidding, right?" Hiccup asked

"You heard what Gobber said, there's hundreds of them" Astrid said

"Alright, fine" Hiccup said not too happy

"Yes!" Snotlout cheered before looking at Gustav "Move my arm" Gustav did as he was told and moving Snotlout's arm to give a thumbs up

"Let's split up and search Berk for possible Speed Stinger hiding spot" Hiccup said

"Okey dokey, Hiccup" Gustav said trying to move Snotlout towards Hookfang

"Fishlegs, how's Meatlug?" Hiccup asked

"She's raging to go, Hiccup. Look at her" Fishlegs said just before Meatlug flew behind him but half of her body was still paralyzed, so she had trouble with keeping herself in the air

"So… what are we supposed to so when we find where the Speed Stingers are?" Blake asked

"Fishlegs, you say they follow their leader in a giant pack, right?" Hiccup asked

"So, the plan is to find the Speed Stingers, capture their leader and use it to lure them away" Hiccup said

Like planned, the teens split up in order to look in more parts of Berk in the shortest time possible

Astrid and Stormfly looked in the tunnels made by the Whispering Deaths

Fishlegs and Meatlug were looking in the forest but of course, they were having some trouble

"It's okay, it's okay, you're doing your best" Fishlegs said as Meatlug tried to keep control over her flight but they crashed on some bushes

The twins were looking in the village but they didn't even bother to be careful or stealthy, they just burst open every door they found, at least they had weapons, Tuffnut had a sword while Ruffnut had a spear

Then, while they were checking one house, Tuffnut felt hot something stung his butt, so he jumped, fell on the floor and rubbed his butt

"I've been stung! I can't feel my tail!" he yelled but then, Ruffnut entered the house as she laughed. Turns out she's the one who stung Tuffnut "When the paralysis wears off, you're dead"

Snotlout, Gustav and Hookfang were looking in the beaches but since Snotlout was paralyzed, Gustav had to fly Hookfang but he was having some trouble

"Okay, up! up! Up is where the sky is, down is where the land is" Snotlout said

"I can't see, Snotlout, your head is too big" Gustav said

Then, Hookfang did a loop making Snotlout fall from his neck and crash at a beach, that also made his head stuck in the sand

"There will definitely be repercussions for this" Snotout said

Some time later, the teens reunited at the village's plaza

"So, anything?" Hiccup asked

"Not a single Stinger" Astrid said

"It's almost like they vanished without a trace" Blake said

"Us neither" Fishlegs said

"I got stung" Tuffnut said

"No you weren't" Ruffnut said sounding a little annoyed

"Have we checked every cave?" Hiccup asked. However, Snotlout looked really nervous and didn't say anything "Snotlout, did you check your caves?"

"Really, I'm insulted, Hiccup. Of course I did, did you think I fell from my dragon and spent hours trying to get out of the sand" Snotlout said

"He fell from his dragon and we spent hours trying to get him out the sand" Gustav said

"Gustav, make me punch you!" Snotlout ordered angrily but Gustav made Snotlout punch himself

"Never gets old" Tuffnut laughed

"At least we know where to look" Blake sighed

"Let's go" Hiccup said

Minutes later, they arrived at the beach in which Snotlout got trapped in the sand, Stormfly and Astrid also brought a cage to capture the Speed Stinger leader

"Thanks, Gustav" Hiccup said as he pulled out his shied "You stay here with Snotlout and Hookfang"

"Right" Snotlout said giving the thumbs up "Hey, I did that all myself"

Then, Tuffnut make Snotlout poke his own eye

"Okay, gang, we have to move fast because it will be sundown soon and we need to get that leader Stinger out of there, without him the pack is useless" Hiccup said

He, Fishlegs and Toothless entered the cave where they quickly found a lot of Speed Singers laying around and sleeping

"Hiccup, there he is" Fishlegs said pointing

Hiccup looked where Fishlegs was pointing and saw a Speed Stinger hanging upside down from a stalactite but this Speed Stinger had red stripes and fins all over his body, he also was a bit bigger than other Speed Stingers

Hiccup quickly used his shield to threw a bola at the Speed Stinger leader "Got him" he said

Toothless quickly grabbed the Speed Stinger leader and gently placed him on the ground. Then, Hiccup and Fishlegs began to pull him out of the cave

"Um… Hiccup" Fishlegs said as he looked back, so Hiccup also looked back and realized the Speed Stinger leader was awake not only that, the rest of the pack was also awake

"Get this Speed Stinger into the cage right away" Hiccup said

Then, the Speed Stinger leader released himself knocking Hiccup and Fishlegs to the ground in the process, he also tried to sting Hiccup but he rolled out of the way in time giving Toothless the chance to shot a plasma blast at the Speed Stinger leader

He roared back at the pack, so they were about to exit the cave but a fire blast prevented them from doing so, it also covered the entrance in flames

Hiccup looked up and saw Gustav, Snotlout and Hookfang

"That's right! Snotlout! Snotlout! Oi! Oi! Oi!" Snotlout cheered, he was already recovered from the paralysis but the Speed Stinger leader stung him once again "Oh, come on!"

Then, Toothless and Speed Stinger leader began to growl and circle around each other

"He's too fast, Hiccup" Fishlegs said

"Not for a Night Fury" Hiccup said

The Speed Stinger leader jumped and tried to sting Toothless who jumped back and shot several plasma blasts back

Realizing that attacking Toothless wasn't going to work, the Speed Stinger leader went to attack Hiccup who protected himself with his shield but the Speed Stinger leader threw the shield out of Hiccup's arm but Toothless caught it and threw it back to his rider

"Thanks, bud" he said

The Speed Stinger leader jumped onto some rocks trying to avoid Toothless' plasma blasts. However, the fire at the cave's entrance was starting to lit out, so the other Speed Stingers jumped it and went to help their leader

"Astrid, follow me!" Hiccup said as he got on Toothless' back

"I think I know where you're going with this" Astrid said

Toothless shot some plasma blasts at the Speed Stinger leader pushing him towards the cage

"Okay, Stormfly, time to spike that Stinger" Astrid said, so Stormfly shot some spikes at the Speed Stinger leader pushing him into the cage. Toothless took the opotunity to shot a plasma blast at the cage's door locking the Speed Stinger leader inside

"Yes! Got him!" Hiccup said

They quickly landed in order to get the cage but all the Speed Singers began to run around the teens and their dragons

"Hiccup, there's too many off them" Astrid said

"We won't be able to even start flying" Blake said

Suddenly a sonic blast blew the Speed Stingers away, the teens look up and saw Stoick and Thornado

"Dad, you're okay" Hiccup said obviously relieved

"You didn't think I'll let you take all the fun, did you?" Stoick asked as he walked towards the cage "Remember me?" the Speed Stinger leader only growled as an answer "Now, get him off my island"

"Thunder and I will take it from here" Blake said as Thunder grabbed the cage with his paws

Thunder quickly flew off but this made all the Speed Stingers chase him. Being the second fastest dragon, Thunder could've escaped easily but since the Speed Stinger leader was trying to escape, he had to make sure to don't drop him or get stung by him

The Speed Stingers were getting too close to Thunder, some of them even jumped trying to stung him. Trying to back them away, Thunder shot a lightning blast but the explosion gave one of them the extra impulse it needed to reach Thunder and stung him in the leg

"Oh no" Blake said

Thunder tried to fly even faster but he quickly got paralyzed, so he and Blake crashed on the ice dropping the cage in the process

"We'll get the cage!" Hiccup said before looking at the twins "Ruff, Tuff, cover Blake"

"Incoming!" Tuffnut yelled as Berf spread gas around Blake and Thunder

"Here goes!" Ruffnut yelled as Belch sparked the gas

Toothless quickly grabbed the cage and flew off, so now the Speed Stingers were chasing after him

They quickly arrived at the ice bridge but the Speed Stingers already caught up with them. One jumped and tried to stung Hiccup but he pushed it away with his shield, another tried to stung Hiccup on the leg but it stung his metal leg instead

"Weren't expecting an old metal leg, were you?" Hiccup asked. However, one Speed Stinger slashed through Toothless' tail making him impossible to fly

Toothless dropped the cage and crashed on the ice but this time the Speed Stinger leader was released from the cage and to make things worse, the rest of the pack arrived

Hiccup got off Toothless' back and tried to use his shield to shot a bola at the Speed Stinger leader but nothing came out

"No! no! no! out of bolas. Toothless!" Hiccup said, so Toothless tried to shot a plasma blast but he failed meaning he had already reached his shot limit "And no plasma, great"

The Speed Stingers roared at them and were about to charge at them but a voice stopped them

"Hookfang, fire!" the voice ordered, it was Snotlout who arrived with the other teens except for Blake

Hookfang shot his fire blast at the ice bridge melting it and separating Hiccup and Toothless from the Speed Stingers who ran away returning to wherever they came from

"Nice shooting, Snotlout" Hiccup said

"Ha, no problem, Hiccup" Snotlout said proudly before Gustav pushed him

"Yeah, no problem, Hiccup" Gustav said before they started to fly back to Berk

Unfortunately for Snotlout, he was left hanging upside down from Hookfang's neck

"Hey! Put me down! Repercussions! Repercussions!" he yelled

The next morning, everyone returned to the village and began to repair all of the damage made by the Speed Stingers

"Nasty creatures those Speed Stingers" Stoick said as he lifted a log

"Aye, we have a few nasty creatures of our own here" Gobber said as he and Stoick looked how the twins and Gustav were messing around with Snotlout who was still paralyzed

Meanwhile with Hiccup, he went to get Trader Johann's ship and brought it back to Berk

"Thank you again for the rescue, Master Hiccup" Trader Johann said as he got off Toothless' back

"No problem, Johann. I'm just glad everything is back to normal" Hiccup said

"Oh, before you go, I've got something for you" Trader Johann as he looked for something through all of his stuff. Then, he gave Hiccup a base with the drawing of a squid on it "A little token of my appreciation. Pure squid ink, wrestled from the Colossal Squid from the Northen waters"

"Wow, thanks, Johann" Hiccup said

"Yes, there is a wonderful that goes along with that bottle" Trader Johann said as he began to tell another of his stories but Hiccup patted Toothless' head and leaned towards him

"What do you say? We get out of here?" Hiccup asked

Toothless couldn't agree more with his rider, so they quickly flew off leaving Trader Johann behind who didn't even noticed
