A week has passed since the events of the Cyber Bakugan attack on Bakugan City. Marucho waited for his newly formed team to be fully recovered before moving on to the next phase of his plan. After everyone was given the all-clear, he gave them their first assignment. Splitting the team into two groups, he sends them off to two different corners of the world.
Traveling via one of Marucho's personal helicopters, Caleb and Jayden have been sent out to a quiet little beach in Hawaii. The pair sit beside each other in the back, while their partners Leonidas and Beowulf sit in their own little assigned seating, a glorified egg holder. Leonidas stews in their anger, muttering violently to himself over the embarrassment of where he's sat. Caleb looks out the window, enjoying the scenic view, while Jayden sits there with his head against his arm, trying to nap. Beowulf is indifferent to all of this and just enjoys the ride.
Their pilot comes over the intercom to broadcast their words, "Gentlemen, we are exactly five minutes away from the drop-off point. I'll further update you when we've arrived, and landed."
Jayden straightens up, pulling himself from his relaxation, "I hope this guy is worth the trip for. Splitting the group to recruit someone is one thing, but then sending the other side off to collect someone else? Just feels risky given what the city has been through already."
"I've known Marucho for a long time. I trust his judgment on this. Besides, the city isn't entirely defenseless with us not around," Caleb tries to defend his friend and current leader.
"Well, forgive me for having reservations against the guy who owns the lab producing the same cyber knock-offs that attack our home. Believe me, I'm trying," Jayden leans against the door to look out the window. Reaching into his jacket pocket, he balls out a Bakugan, one smaller than a regular Bakugan. This one is Darkus, yet it has two attribute symbols on it. "Hey, Wolfie? I know I asked you this before, but are sure these guys are legit?"
Beowulf turns to face his partner, "Of course. While I've never encountered any of these offspring before, I'm certain they are biological, and alive, same as you, me, and our companions."
Caleb reaches into his pocket and pulls out one of his own. His is Pyrus, again with two attribute symbols on them. "It's hard to believe that Bakugan can reproduce. Never mind it being something as foreign as a Trap. You learn something new every day."
"Sirs, we've just arrived over the drop-off point, and will be proceeding to land now," their pilot announces all of this while putting in the steps to land the helicopter.
Upon landing, the pilot meets with the engineers on standby to run routine maintenance and refueling of the helicopters. The team of Caleb, Jayden, Leonidas, and Beowulf set off to find their newest addition to the team.
The landing sight is on the doorstep of a small little Hawaiian town. They begin their search there, going around and asking for a Brawler under the name of Ian Micheals. No matter who they ask, no one seems to have a clue who they are after.
"This is torture…," Jayden remarks, removing his thick black jacket.
"I know. You'd think one person would know where to find him."
"No, this heat. It's killing me. Let's try looking someplace in the shade…please…," Jayden isn't doing too well in the sun. Beowulf leaps on their shoulder, "I told you to dress light."
As they walk down the street, Caleb bumps into someone. A tall man, natural tan with long, wavy bleached blonde hair and a 5 o'clock shadow. He's dressed for the beach, wearing baggy shorts and an open shirt, and sandals with a surfboard under their arm.
"You bros look a little lost," he pulls up his sunglasses, revealing emerald green eyes, "Not a problem. We all lose our way at some point. But we always find it again in the end."
Jayden is immediately on the fence with this guy, leaving Calleb to be the bridge between them. "We're not lost. We're just visiting in search of a guy. Do you know where we can find Ian Micheals? It's really important that we see him."
The stranger drops his glasses. "Ian? Hmm. Oh yeah. I know him. Crazy bro, he hangs by the beach at noon hoping to catch the sea monster."
"Sea monster?" Caleb asks, figuring it to be a Bakugan. "Is he still there now?"
"Probably. Although he takes a few breaks every now and then, he usually goes at it for hours…," After hearing the surfer bro out, the pair leg it down the street towards the beach. Surfer bro watches on as they disappear into the distance.
After arriving on the beach, the pair split up to search for their guy, although, after a good 20 minutes, they can't find a single person besides themselves. Caleb regroups with Jayden hiding in the shade.
As the pair discuss their next idea, a large fin emerges from the water, followed by a pair of red eyes.
The Brawlers turn to see a heavy stream of water coming for them. Caleb pushes Jayden out of the way before dodging himself. They both watch as the mystery creature submerges itself in the sea.
"That must be the sea monster the surfer told us about." Caleb grabs Leonidas from his pocket. "It's most likely a stray Bakugan and a hostile one too. Let's deal with them before we continue. Bakugan, Brawl!" Caleb tosses Leonidas into the battle. He hits the water before opening up. He bursts from the sea before taking flight in the air.
Beowulf springs out of Jayden's jacket. "Jayden! Are you hurt? Should we engage too?" Jayden is silent, his eyes focused on the sea before they snap toward the trees. "No. Let's just wait this out."
Leonidas keeps himself in the air, looking down at the sea, looking for the Bakugan.
"Be careful Leo! I'm guessing they're Aquos. That means they have the advantage here!" Caleb calls their warning to their partner.
Leonidas takes their advice and keeps his distance. Searching the sea frantically, he sees a shadow in the water. He ignites a fireball in his both and spits it at the shadow. He narrowly misses when the shadow moves. He finds it again and repeats himself, firing another fireball. Once again, he misses when they move.
"Something seems off her Wolfie," Jayden stands up, keeping to the cover of the tree. "Judging the height of that attack, even if I didn't dodge, it wouldn't have hit me."
"You think it was a warning shot?" Beowulf rests on Jayden's shoulder. Following their lead, he enjoys the cooling shade when the breeze comes in. "I'm betting we're in for a surprise."
Confirming Jayden's thoughts, a glowing blue light appears behind him, followed by the activation of an ability card. A sudden gaiser appears from the sea that enwraps around Leonidas.
"Leo!" Caleb calls out. When the mist clears he sees his partner trapped in a large blue sphere. "Caleb! I'm stuck!" Leonidas strikes the sphere from the inside, however, nothing he does breaks it. It gets worse. The bottom of the sphere quickly fills up with water.
"Jayden! We need to do something!" Beowulf sounds worried for Leonidas, but Jayden is quick to calm him. "Easy now. You need to have some faith in them. I doubt Leonidas, nor Caleb would allow such an easy loss like this. Keep watching."
Leonidas is submerged in the water of the sphere. The longer he remains, the more his G power decreases rapidly. "Hang on, Leo! I've got backup now. Bakugan Support Brawl!" Caleb tosses his second Bakugan into the fight. "Stand! Pyrus Talon!" Calling his Bakugan Support, Talon opens up from their ball revealing himself to be a large Griffin-like creature.
"Ability Activate! Cutting Point!" Caleb uses the ability of his Support. From the red gem on their forehead, they shoot a concentrated beam of light from it. Using this laser beam, Talon cuts through the sphere, and slices around it, missing Leonidas.
The sphere splits in half with the water gushing out to return to the sea. "That's much better. Now I can do this!" Leonidas lets out a hard roar as he unleashes his power. His G power returns to normal. The intense power reduces the weakened spherical prison to nothing. The pressure also pushes open the tide, flashing the attacking Bakugan. "Caleb! It's there!"
"Right with you buddy. Double Ability Activate! Omega Eraser, plus Burning Griffin!" The ability cards increase the power of both Bakugan before combining their power. [1400Gs]
Both Bakugan fires a singular ball of flames each. They are shot out with the speed of a bullet before hitting the sea. The heat from the attack turns the water to vapor, as well as some sand to glass.
The parted tide reveals fully the Bakugan. A large, blue humanoid creature resembling a shark with big, blade-like arms, and a fin sticking out its back. The Bakugan is reduced to ball form and is called away toward the trees.
Caleb recalls his Bakugan, "Jayden! Did you see where it went?"
Jayden nods silently before turning in the direction where the assaulting Bakugan had fled. "You can come out now. I already figured you were up to something earlier, so just come out and clear the air."
Caleb is confused as to who he is talking to until the surfer bro from before who directed them to the beach comes out of the bushes. "Looks like the jig is up. Sorry bros. I didn't mean to put you through all that, I just wanted to be sure you were on the level." They remove their sunglasses, "How did you know?"
"While naturally, I have an immediate distrust of the overall friendly, you were something else. You covered your eyes before giving us directions because you didn't want us to know you were lying."
"I guess it is what it is. Fair play." The surfer bro tucks his sunglasses into his breast pocket. "I guess I should come clean now." Caleb stands at Jayden's side. He watches as a blue Bakugan leaps from the same pocket, and lands on the surfer's shoulder. "My name is Ian Micheals. But, everyone knows me as just Micky. Which is why you were having a hard time finding me. And this is my partner, Triton."
The Bakugan waves their two fin-like arms, "How's it going crazy cats? You put on quite a show for us. No hard feelings or anything, right?"
"Relax, Triton. They wouldn't hold it against us. After all…we're now partners." Micky smiles as he pulls out a letter from his pocket with the Battle Brawlers logo on the back, "I take it I'm coming with you to see the big man?"
