The Voice Inside My Head

By Morgan Jenson

Bella POV - June

I have been working for Twilight Graphics for the past three weeks and it has been overwhelming, but at the same time, amazing!

My first day consisted of meeting Tanya Denali, the Art Director for TG and Riley Biers, who is basically Tanya's right hand. Both, Tanya, as she asked me to call her, and Riley, have been a bottomless pit of information.

They explained all the ins and outs of TG, the different departments, equipment, etc. that are used. The offer letter they sent to me stated I may have access to trade secrets, confidential or proprietary business information belonging to TG. So I was required to sign an NDA when I filled out all the employee paperwork. Before signing, they also explained a lot of their clients included celebrities or high profile individuals that respect privacy above anything else.

Tanya told me Riley is who I should go to for any questions or help I might need. If he was unavailable, I should go see her. They have both been so helpful these past few weeks and everything I've learned from them both is valued information I can use at any job I might hold in the future.

After the first week and getting my bearings, they allowed me to start helping with the design process from start to finish. I even got to sit in on the morning meetings where they brainstormed different ideas for design campaigns. At first, I was a little leery about speaking up, but by the beginning of the third week I bit the bullet. Thankfully no one laughed at my idea, it wasn't the one they used either, but it got the ball rolling. My idea helped to spawn the final logo idea that would be pitched to a beverage company.

All in all I have felt very at home at TG. The only time I feel completely out of my element is anything camera related. Riley told me I'd feel better using the camera if I spent more time in that department and got more experience under my belt. So that is how I've been spending week four with TG.

TG has several different photographers and they either work on still photography or people. Jacob Black is the people photographer that all TG clients want to use. His work is absolutely stunning and If he wasn't gay, I'd be in love! His personality is over the top, but he makes myself and everyone around him feel beautiful inside and out.

Jacob told me yesterday afternoon there would be a photoshoot today that was moved up. The pictures weren't supposed to be taken until after my internship was over so he said I'm in for a real treat, whatever that means.

I've just gotten to the 4th floor where anything photo related is done. When I exit the elevator I almost run right into Jacob. I look around and notice there are a ton of people running around.

"Woah!"

"Girl, you ain't seen nothing yet." Jacob says, grabbing my arm to take me the opposite way I normally go.

"Where are we going?"

"Nope, not we, you. I need you to go to studio D. When you get there, you'll see just about everything is set up."

He continues to lead me toward the studio while talking a mile a minute.

"I have to go get a new backdrop as the current one in studio D is the wrong color. I sent someone else to get it over 10 minutes ago, but if you want something done right…" He trails off as we get to the entrance.

I'm about to step in when he stops me from walking in and tells me, "The guys aren't quite ready for the shoot so I should be back before they are."

I gulp and try to calm my nerves. I've never been alone in any of the photography studios.

"All I need you to do is make sure no one moves anything in the studio. The lights are already set up as I should need them. There is a focal point I need set up in front of the current backdrop. You'll find what you need on the table to the left of the camera. The camera is 'live', I assume you understand what that means?"

I give a brief nod, knowing that it's ready to take photos.

"Good, so I'll be back as soon as I can. Thank you again for all your help, you're a doll!" He says while backing away and blowing me a kiss.

I walk into the studio and see everything is set up just as Jacob said. To the right of the entrance is a refreshments table, to the left is a changing area blocked by curtains. Opposite the entrance I came in from is the backdrop, lights and camera. There is another doorway on the back wall I know leads to another hallway, but I've never been back there before.

It's been about 10 minutes or so and Jacob is still not back, so I figure I should get started. I know not to touch or move anything except to set up the focal point. I see several different objects and a stand. Picking the stand up, I place it in front of the camera, then grab one of the "focus props" and place it on the stand.

I walk up to the camera and look through the viewfinder and all I see is black.

Might help to take off the lens cap, I think to myself. This isn't my first time doing this either, as Jake has let me set up a shot before. I'm just feeling jittery since I'm alone in the studio for the first time.

Keeping my eye on the viewfinder, I reach around and remove the lens cap.

When I see someone move into the frame and wave at me, I yell out, "Oh shit, you scared the crap out of me!" and quickly back away from the camera.

"Sorry I scared you." I hear. "I figured you would have heard me enter the room."

"It's you." I say when I catch my breath.

"I guess I could say the same thing. It's you, the girl from the game, on the screen."

"And you're Edward Cullen."
