Chapter 25
Kimura POV
I woke up, feeling pressure on my stomach. I was laying on my back, opening my eyes to glance down at the front of my body. I saw a head of white hair, resting on me, asleep. I smiled bringing my up to gently run it through his hair. He groaned at the feeling, beginning to wake up.
I gasped when I felt his head turn slightly to place kisses across my abdomen before resting his chin there to look up at me through the valley of my breasts. I sighed, allowing myself to be completely enveloped in the moment and forget about where we were, and what was supposed to happen today.
Today Grimmjow was supposed to hand me over to Kohaku.
"Hi." I said softly.
"Hi." He continued to watch me. "I'm sorry." He said plainly.
I raised an eyebrow at him hearing him sigh. "I lost control…."
"You were angry…"
He laughed "I was furious. I have not been that furious since Aizen." I felt a cold gust blow across my stomach and watched him close his eyes tightly.
"Toshiro." I said, resting one of my hands on the back of his head, getting him to open his eyes to me. "Silly captain, how many times do I have to tell you. Don't hide your strength, your anger, anything you feel from me because you think you can hurt me. You can't."
I watched his face as he let me see the emotions that crossed his eyes. After a few moments I felt his shoulders relax, planting another kiss, this time on my hip.
I laughed at the sensation before seeing him tense again and his, perpetually annoyed, mask appeared on his face.
"Do you think she's okay?" a voice from outside the door asked.
"He looked seriously pissed off. I've never seen his eyes that dark before."
Toshiro rolled his eyes as he heard Rangiku's voice talking to Rukia.
"They are insufferable." He muttered, making me laugh loudly.
"Shhhh, I think I heard laughing, that's a good sign, right?" Rukia asked outside the door.
I watched his face get more irritated, as he shook his head, before moving to get off the bed. I watched as he dressed, than made his way to the door. He looked back at me, waiting as I pulled the covers completely up to my neck.
Toshiro waited a few minutes more trying to time what he was going to do just right. I stifled a laugh at the anticipation. Suddenly, he swung both doors open and jumped to the side, letting the bodies of Rukia and Rangiku come tumbling in from where they were leaning to try and listen.
All I heard was a muffled oomph from them both. I started laughing in the bed as they both rubbed their heads. I quickly looked at Toshiro who had a smirk on his face for a minute before letting if fade behind his mask.
"What the hell is wrong with you Rangiku!" Toshiro yelled at her.
"Ah, captain, we were just curious, and wanted to make sure Kimura was okay…."
"Because you thought I would murder her? She's my third seat Rangiku!" he seethed.
Rukia cast her gaze at me, still underneath the covers. I saw the look on her face get mischievous before she looked back at Toshiro.
'Uh oh' I thought.
"So is your third seat always naked under the covers, and do you always sleep in the same room as them?"
Toshiro's face suddenly started to heat and turn red before he could stop it. Rangiku squealed, before clapping Rukia on the back.
"Well, you walked into that one." I muttered from the bed.
"Kimura!" Rangiku exclaimed as she got up to charge at the bed.
"Oh, Rangiku please – don't!" I tried to say, but there was no escape since the sheets were the only things covering my body.
Toshiro tried to grab her, but just missed her. She landed on top of me on the bed hugging me, and I did everything I could to keep the sheets covering me, by the time she let me go, my bare right leg was hanging out and the top of the sheets were caught at the top of my breasts.
"OOOOHHHHH. You really are naked…." She said looking at me while I blushed and growled at her. She suddenly turned to Toshiro. "CAPTAIN! I'm so proud of you!"
I raised my eyebrow and scratched my head.
'What… the…. Fuck…' I thought to myself as I looked at Rukia who looked just as confused, by now Rangiku had bounded over to Toshiro, who stopped her with a glare.
"Proud of me…" he growled out, I heard her yelp, before she bolted out of the room. "RANGIKU! YOU'RE GOING TO BE DOING PAPERWORK FOR A YEAR!" He yelled as he chased after her.
I sat there blinking at the now empty doorway, not really knowing what to say. I felt Rukia sit on the bed next to me. I turned my gaze to her, tilting my head at her saddened expression.
"Rukia…. What's wrong?"
"We were all so worried, Kimura. We would be devastated if something happened to you." She whispered to me. I placed a hand on her arm.
"I am very good at making plans Rukia, if I would have lost control of the situation, there was a backup. Kisuke was prepared." I briefly explained, causing her to gasp.
"I'll leave you to get dressed." She chuckled while winking at me, closed the bedroom doors behind her.
I arrived in the meeting room a short time later. I looked around and saw Ichigo, Orihime, Chad, Uryu, Shinji, Byakuya, Unohana, Rukia, Renji, and Kenpachi there along with Toshiro and Rangiku. I stopped short, not expecting this many people to be here.
"Shocked, Kyoraku?" Kenpachi grinned seeing her face.
"Slightly, not all of you were not incorporated in my plan…" I said, walking closer to the table, towards the empty seat next to Toshiro. Grimmjow was sitting at the head of the table, silent as always.
"Fabulous, there's more people than intended. We need to figure out how to hide you all, so Kohaku doesn't know you're here." Grimmjow growled.
"We can create a cloaking barrier." Shinji said, I nodded in agreement.
"Fine, but make it strong enough, Kohaku is no fool." Grimmjow said in agreement. Silence fell across the room, before chains slid across the table. I reached my hand out and grabbed them. Lifting a piece to inspect it, before looking up at Grimmjow. "Wait for the signal we discussed. He needs to bring her to me, before I hand you over. Once I have her behind me, break out of those."
I nodded my head in understanding, feeling Toshiro's hand land on my thigh and squeezing it tightly. "We should get ready." I turned my head to Toshiro. "Can you keep Shenron and Tianma with you, until I'm ready?"
"Of course." He replied.
I stood from my chair, looking at everyone who was gathered. "Thank you, everyone, for being here and coming to help me. I appreciate it." I bowed slightly in respect to them. I clenched my eyes closed and turned to leave the room.
Toshiro POV
I watched as Kimura left the room, I wanted to go after her, but knew she probably needed some time to herself.
"Captain Hitsugaya." I heard Grimmjow say. I looked up to see him staring at me, his expression grim. "How far are you willing to go to protect her?"
I looked around and saw everyone's eyes on me, I didn't like attention on myself. I scoffed at his question.
"I'd kill for her." Was my reply as I watched him nod at me before getting up and leaving.
I felt a pit fall in my gut; something was off. I felt like I was watching the situation with Aizen all over again and there was nothing I could do.
Kimura POV
I stood outside staring up at the sky. This day could go many ways, but I knew it had to end with Kohaku's death. I felt others come up behind me, and I turned to face them with a smile on my face.
"Ready?" I asked, I saw everyone nod.
"We found a covered cliffside near where Grimmjow said he is supposed to meet with Kohaku. Lets head over so we can get the barrier going." Rukia said.
"Lead the way." I told her. I let the others walk by me, waiting for Toshiro. We brought up the rea of the group. I no longer cared who was around, so I reached for his hand, clasping it tightly.
I watched as he turned and looked at me, shock on his face for a moment, but then he smirked and squeezed my hand tighter.
We reached the location, Grimmjow was standing there with chains in his hand. I stopped Toshiro and handed him Shenron and Tianma.
"Look after them. They have grown fond of you." I said, trying to make a joke.
Toshiro grinned, "I will, but only for a bit, then they can go back to you, their steward." He took them, wrapping a sash around them so he could secure them on his back next to Hyorinmaru.
I smiled at him, raising a hand to his face, while turning his body, so his back was blocking the view of the others. I stood on my toes, so I could claim his lips in a fierce, hungry kiss. I knew I had shocked him, because his body went tense for a moment before relaxing and wrapping his arms around me.
We continued the kiss until we both needed air and he rested his forehead against mine, smiling.
"I love you Toshiro Hitsugaya. My captain." I said to him with ferocity in my voice. His brows knitted together, but then he smiled again at me.
"I love you Kimura Kyoraku, always. You're mine." He whispered to me.
I placed my hands on his chest pushing him back to the covering so Orihime, Shinji, and Byakuya could start creating the barrier. I turned towards Grimmjow standing in front of him, we were far enough away from the others that I knew they couldn't hear our words.
"Grimmjow….. you remember the plan?" I asked quietly as he secured the chains on my wrists.
"Yes, but I figured with the new reinforcements we wouldn't need that plan." He didn't look at me, just kept his eyes on the chains. "Isn't there a plan c?"
"That is plan C" I said to him.
"I don't like that plan, I've grown fond of you strange little soul reaper, think of something else." He growled at me, finally looking into my eyes.
I smiled at him sadly, "It's only the last resort Grimmjow. Do you promise?" He stepped back from me, knowing that if he promised he wouldn't break it, after some moments of silence he finally nodded.
"I promise." He said softly before turning. He started to pull me with the chains before I looked over my shoulder once more at Toshiro. I pulled on the chains, once stopping Grimmjow, he looked and understood, walking me over to the barrier.
I stood in front of Toshiro, who was on the opposite side of the barrier. I placed my right hand up, and he mimicked the move. I stared at him, knowing that tears collected in my eyes.
"I love you." I told him once more, before turning and letting Grimmjow pull me away.
Toshiro POV
"I love you." She told me once more, before turning and letting Grimmjow pull her away.
"Captain….." I heard Rangiku beside me.
I kept my eyes trained on Kimura as she left my field of vision.
"Why did that sound like a good-bye?" she asked, her voice breaking a bit.
I just shook my head, trying to ignore the feeling of dread in my gut. I reached behind me for Shenron and Tianma
'Take good care of them, they've grown fond of you.' He heard her words repeated in his head.
"What is she planning." I said out loud to myself.
Third Person POV
Grimmjow stood with Kimura on the cliff where he had agreed to meet Kohaku, a few moments passed before a garganta appeared and opened.
Grimmjow and Kimura looked up and saw Kohaku appear.
"Ah! Grimmjow! You came through, glad to see there are still ones that are dependable." Kohaku said with a laugh as he lowered closer to them from the sky.
"Stay put. We had a deal. Where is she?" Grimmjow growled.
"OH yes, apologies." He turned and waved his hand. A woman with long blue hair appeared, bound, and gagged next to him, her eyes were searching, and when she saw Grimmjow she started to struggle. "Hold still dear, you'll be with him shortly." Kohaku said to her.
Grimmjow yanked on the chains, leaping into the air taking Kimura with him. He stopped a few feet in front of Kohaku, narrowing his eyes.
"Unbind her, then I'll give you this thing." He told him, while yanking on Kimura's chain.
"Ugh, you are so demanding, fine!" Kohaku waved his hand once more.
Kimura and Grimmjow watched as her bindings and gag fell away, she quickly flashed behind Grimmjow.
"There… now hand me her chain." Kohaku said with his hand outstretched.
Grimmjow stared at him, before tossing his end of the chain, before the chain hit Kohaku's hand, he vanished with the female Arrancar, and Kimura concentrated all of her spirit energy, giving Okami full control.
"What the – "Kohaku said watching Kimura transform.
Kimura was surrounded by dark blue and purple spirit energy, her fingers elongated, her eyes turned dark blue with a hazel ring, the energy started to take form around her and behind her five tails formed. She pulled her wrists apart and the chains shattered.
Kohaku glared at her pulling out his sword, charging at Kimura his blade raised high. Kimura flashed away dodging his attack. She watched as those humanoid creatures of his appeared from the portal, I heard the others come out from the barrier as I dodged another attack from Kohaku.
"So, Grimmjow betrayed me, and you thought you could ambush me?" He laughs manically. "Stupid girl. I'll kill everyone and still capture you so I can use your power to take control of the soul society and the human world."
Kimura flashed around him circling watching for an opening, before leaping in the air swinging her leg at his head, he dodged but not enough and she got him in his shoulder, sending him flying to the side. She landed against the cliff growling, her pressure flaring around her.
"Kimura!" Toshiro shouted at her, getting her attention.
Kimura looked down just as he threw her zanpakutos in the air. She pushed off the cliff, diving for her blades, she caught them just in time to flash away from Kohaku's attack. She pulled both blades out and leaped towards him, not on the attack. She swung both blades so fast and letting her spiritual pressure flow into them.
Kohaku was having a hard time blocking every attack, he knew he needed to put distance between them, he kicked his leg forward catching her in the gut and sending her flying backwards into the rocks creating a large crash.
Kimura pulled herself out of the rocks, looking for Kohaku, she saw him engaged with Toshiro.
'No….' she thought to herself.
"We can kill him steward, we are stronger." Okami told her in her mind.
Kimura gripped the hilts of her blades, leaping towards them.
"Shenron - Hiryu no Tsubasa" she yelled, swinging her blade at Kohaku, releasing a large fire dragon flying straight for him. Toshiro flashed out of the way, watching as Kohaku barely dodged the attack, his left arm seared and burned.
"Bitch…" he growled at Kimura.
Kimura and Toshiro both teamed against Kohaku, blocking and parrying ever attack, trying to get an open moment to take him out. He grabbed Kimura and flipped her away from them, so he could focus on Toshiro who had already released his Bankai.
Toshiro was getting tired, and his movements were slowing down, Kimura saw this, she was flashing back to them, just as Kohaku stabbed Toshiro in the gut.
"NO!" Kimura yelled as she watched Toshiro fall to the ground to be caught by Rangiku.
Kimura launched herself at Kohaku, swinging both blades simultaneously. She looked down and saw Captain Kotetsu healing Toshiro. Rangiku looked up and nodded to her that he was going to be okay. She nodded back briefly before continuing her attack on Kohaku.
'You two ready?" she asked Sheron and Tianma
'Ready mistress.' They replied.
'Okami – this is our last attempt, lets put everything into it.'
Kohaku glared at Kimura watching her closely as she held both blades out to her sides. She suddenly slammed the two hilts together, her spiritual pressure flaring around her.
"BANKAI - Tenjo no jigoku" She yelled spinning the combined blades together above her head as Shenron's flaming dragon wings appeared at her back, and everything went black. Kimura swung downwards letting cyclone of fire, fly towards Kohaku.
She watched as he was engulfed in flames breathing heavy. Once the smoke cleared, she saw Kohaku still standing there, not dead, severely injured but not dead. She growled casting her gaze to Grimmjow who shook his head.
Kimura sighed knowing what had to be down.
'I'm sorry my friends, I wasn't strong enough' she said to Shenron, Tianma, and Okami.
Kimura flashed in front of the injured Kohaku, grabbing his wrists, and twisting so he had to drop his sword, effectively trapping him to her body.
"What are you doing?" Kohaku growled.
"You want me alive Kohaku, well…. I've found a away where you can't have me, plus I get to take you to hell with me." She whispered to him, as his eyes widened in shock, understanding her words.
He never got a chance to respond before Grimmjow's sword pushed his heart, continuing through Kimura's body.
Kimura heard yelling from beneath them as Grimmjow yanked his sword back. She kept her eyes on Kohaku who was gasping for breath before he dematerialized and faded into nothing.
Kimura let the tears fall from her eyes as she closed them, letting herself fall backwards. She felt someone catch her.
"I got you strange little soul reaper." Grimmjow said as he landed on the ground.
"I'll kill you Grimmjow." Toshiro yelled trying to get up and get to Kimura, who was gasping.
"Shut up! I didn't want to do that! That was plan C! I made a promise!" he yelled back, getting up to lay Kimura next to Toshiro. "I'm sorry." He whispered before disappearing.
"T-Toshiro." Kimura gasped.
Toshiro pushed Kotetsu away and crawled to Kimura.
"I'm right here. Kotetsu will heal you, and then we'll go home." He told her, placing his blood-stained hand on her face, tapping her cheek so she would keep her eyes open.
"Captain Kotetsu! Hurry!" he yelled behind him, but Kotetsu just stood there watching sadly. "Why aren't you healing her?!"
"Captain Hitsugaya…. There's no way." She replied tears falling down her face.
"No.." he whispered, turning back to Kimura.
Rangiku and everyone else ran up to them, gasping at Kimura's condition.
"Shhhh. my silly captain." Kimura said, raising her hand to his face. "I love you beyond words and will never stop." She gasped, pausing. "Please take care of my father, he'll need you."
"Stop talking like that, I'll get you home." He said, not caring that his tears were flowing down his face.
Kimura smiled at him. "Don't forget me. I love you." Her eyes started to close.
"No! NO!" Toshiro cried holding her close. "You can't leave me, take me with you. Please." He whispered into her hair. His right hand reached for Hyorinmaru, as he let himself lay next to Kimura.
'Hyorinmaru…' Toshiro said to his zanpakuto.
'Master?'
'Take me away from here.' Toshiro said as he heard Rangiku yelling, his eyes closing as Hyorinmaru pulled his soul away.
"Captain? CAPTAIN!" Rangiku yelled, her fresh tears flying as she ran towards Toshiro and Kimura. She landed on her knees with her two friends. Everyone's heads were hanging as they surrounded the two.
Suddenly a light shot down from the sky, crashing into the ground by the group with a loud crash. Everyone's heads turned as the dust started to clear.
A tall man with black hair arranged into a outlandishly large pompadour hairstyle, with tapered sideburns. He was chewing on a small stick, wearing a waist-length white jacket exposing most of his chest with a black hakama, a large yellow sash around his waist and a pair of sandals.
"Who the hell are you?" Grimmjow growled at the newcomer, who just ignored him walking over to Kimura and Toshiro.
He knelt next to her, shaking his head.
"Stupid girl." He said while chewing on his stick. He waived his hands over her surrounding her in a golden light, looking at everyone over his shoulder.
"A reward for her years served to the Soul King." He told them, smirking. "She always was head strong." The golden light around Kimura started to fade away, and she took a breath. "Now you can heal her, quickly." He told Kotetsu who fell next to her and started healing immediately.
"What about Captain Hitsugaya." Rangiku asked as the man turned to walk away.
He paused, looking back at her. "He's not dead." He explained before he vanished.
A/N: It's almost finished! Hope you guys have been enjoying it so far. I was going to let it end with her dying, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. Please review and let me know what you think!
