"Goofy! Your shield is broken!" Sora said, holding up bits of Goofy's shield.
"It's okay, Sora. I still got my other one!" Goofy replied.
"Donald, you have some of it in your hat," Sora said, pointing at Donald's hat.
"Waack!" Donald quacked, pulling off his hat and yanking at Goofy's shield.
"What are we going to do about San Angel?" General Posada asked.
"We can fix that," Candlemaker said. "Right?"
"Yes, Candlemaker," La Muerte said. All three held hands again and the bits of debris started floating around. Pieces of the church connected onto others and rebuilt itself.
"Woah," Sora, Donald and Goofy all said in unison.
"There, fixed," Xibalba said.
A couple hours passed by, and the whole town, including Sora, Donald and Goofy, sit in pews inside the church building.
"You know, I've never been to a wedding before," Sora said.
"Stop moving," Goofy said.
"Sorry," Sora said, sitting still. Goofy tied another piece of cloth around a plank of Sora's leg. "There, that should help that fracture," Goofy said. "Don't put too much stress on it." Donald had used his cure magic previously to help repair Sora's leg but he said that his magic can't heal it completely, just help it go faster.
"Okay," Sora whined.
"Brothers and sisters," Candlemaker said, raising his arms, "we are gathered here today to witness the marriage of Manolo Sanchez and Maria Posada."
The Book of Life clapped next to the Candlemaker. Joaquin was chosen as Manolo's best man, while Chuy sits next to Maria. "Maria, do you take Manolo to be your lawfully wedded husband?" Candlemaker asked.
"I do," Maria said, smiling at Manolo.
"Manolo, do you take Maria to be your lawfully wedded wife?"
"I do," Manolo said.
"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss-" Maria pulled Manolo down into a dip and kissed him on the lips. "The groom?" Chuy howled while the Book of Life clapped. Carlos and Donald cried. Carmen pat her husband as he tried to hold back his sniffle.
"Donald? Are you crying?" Sora asked.
"No! I just have...dust in my eye," he said, wiping away a tear.
"Sure," Sora said, smiling at him.
"Aw, Donald! I didn't know you cried at weddings!" Goofy said, giggling.
"You getting soft on me, Donald?" Sora teased.
"Keep that up and next time I won't heal you," Donald said, wiping away more tears. Sora smiled at him.
Manolo walked Maria back down the aisle and in the courtyard. Maria is wearing a beautiful white dress. Sora asked Manolo earlier why he wasn't wearing white and he just replied with, "I can't get it." Although, wearing black did match Maria's dress quite well.
The rest of the group inside the building followed the newly wed couple outside. "Weddings are so nice!" Sora said. "I'm going to Flynn-err-Eugene's-and Rapunzel's!"
"Who said they're gettin' married?" Goofy asked.
"Come on, Goofy!" Sora said, limping a little. "We all know that they love each other!"
"Too bad we didn't get to see that happen," Donald muttered.
"What was that?" Sora asked.
"Nothing!" Donald replied. Goofy giggled and smiled at Donald.
Maria threw her bouquet of flowers. All the women in the town tried for it, all missing. The bouquet landed in Joaquin's hands. A group of women jumped at him, including a nun.
"Uh, I don't think a nun is supposed to do that," Sora said.
"They ain't," Goofy said, tilting his head.
"So, husband," Maria said, still holding Manolo's arm, "why don't we celebrate with a song?"
"If you insist," Manolo smiled, pulling his guitar off of his back. He played one chord and then started singing, never breaking eye contact with Maria. "I will stand by you. Even when we fall. I will be the rock that holds you up and lifts you high so you stand tall. And I won't let you go. I won't let you fall."
He threw his guitar to dance with Maria, one of the kids with a large sombrero catching it. He began playing it for Manolo. "I won't let you go. No matter where you are, no matter where you are, I'll be there."
Maria joined in with the second verse. "So tear apart these giant hearts that beat inside us now. Let's conquer the percentages, and rise above the crowd."
"Maria has a pretty voice too," Sora noted.
Jorge rode in, standing on pigs again, singing a note in his low baritone. Once he finished, Maria and Manolo joined in the final chorus in a duet. "And I won't let you fall. I won't let you go. No matter where you are, no matter where you are, I'll be there. No matter where you are, no matter where you are, I'll be there. No matter where you are, no matter where you are, I'll be there."
The kid playing Manolo's guitar stopped, after hitting a few chords. Manolo and Maria began to spin closer together. "I'll be there." They ended in a hug. "I'll be there."
"You guys are awesome!" Sora exclaimed.
"What?" Manolo replied. "You're the awesome one, Sora!"
"M-me?" Sora asked, pointing at himself.
"He has a point," Joaquin said, handing Manolo's guitar back to his friend. "I mean, you did help us beat Chakal."
"Are you kidding me?" Sora asked, smiling. "That was all you guys! I just beat the Heartless!"
"And the banditos," Donald added.
"Exactly!" Sora said.
"Well," Maria said, walking closer to Sora. "We did make three new friends because of you."
"Oh, yeah!" Sora exclaimed.
"Just think about it," Goofy said. "Ya came here for a reason, Sora."
"Whatever that reason was, you needed to be here," Joaquin said.
"And you can't fight that," Manolo said.
"Because we'll always be friends," Maria said.
"Until the end," Joaquin agreed.
Sora smiled and sniffed. "Thanks, you guys!" Manolo shook his head. "No, thank you, Sora."
"Once more?" Maria asked. "For good measure?"
"Wait, not yet," Sora said. "Let me do something first." Sora fumbled around in his pockets for a minute before he pulled out his Gummi phone. "What is that?" Joaquin asked, pointing at it.
"This is a camera," Sora said, holding it up. "Well, at least it has a camera." Sora turned it around. "You guys ready?"
Sora readied the picture by moving himself in the right corner. Donald moved himself next to Sora before Maria pulled him in closer. Joaquin stood behind Sora, Donald and Goofy and awkwardly smiled. "You've never been good with cameras, amigo," Manolo said, moving in closer to the screen. Goofy came in next to Manolo and Joaquin. "Ready?" Sora asked.
Chuy oinked loudly. "Oh, wait," Manolo said. He bent down, picked up Chuy and put him on his shoulder. Chuy slid down some but managed to keep his grip, enough to see his nose and eyes on Sora's screen. "Okay! Three, two, one!" On one, Sora snapped a picture. Then a second one, just in case.
"Wait, let me print this out for you," Sora said. He's printed out the picture for each person he's visited. He usually made multiples but it was super easy. Surprisingly easy, actually. "I'll be right back!"
Sora ran off towards the crashed Gummi Ship, still hidden in the bush. He ran inside, turned the printer on and printed four copies of the same picture. "There!" Sora said.
He grabbed three of them, put them in his pocket, then ran back towards the group. "Okay...here!" Sora panted. He held up the pictures to each of them. Maria smiled at it. "This is wonderful, Sora. Thank you."
"Mhm!" Sora said, nodding, still out of breath. Manolo bent down to show the picture to Chuy. Chuy snorted happily.
Sora's hand began glowing as yellow orbs of light appeared in the shape of a Keyblade. "Sora! A new Keyblade!" Donald said. Sora held out his hand and gripped the new Keyblade that formed. The hilt is the shape and color of Manolo's sword, red and swirly, with dark red stripes. The chain has a skull on the end of it, as well as the tip of the key.
"Okay, ready, everyone?" Maria asked. Everyone pulled out their weapons. "No retreat!" Maria started.
"No surrender!" they all finished.
Author's Note
Don't worry, they fixed the ship. Chip and Dale sent them extra pieces they had to fish for to help them.
Now that the story is done, I'm sad. I love the Book of Life and I don't even know how many times I've watched it. If you haven't seen it and are just reading this for whatever reason, I highly recommend it! Anyway, like I said before, this thought came to me from making lunch. It was supposed to just be a picture but then I liked the picture a lot so I wrote a story on it. I even have all the music and things planned out and like the command bar and things. Thank you all for your support and views on this story! See you next time!
