I am starting slower, pacing myself out. I rush and pump out a million chapters, but rarely show... I am learning. Mika is the best benchmark as he is my favorite story.
I realized that medical is too involved to just learn without guidance. You need a real mentor, but other things not so much. I had this idea from Might Dai.
I have a lot of ideas, to make this work well...
Giving him a team and a title changes everything.
Mika slowly moved through his new katas, etched onto his new scrolls. Three of them he bought, and each were for the same style, a nameless style. He didn't care, he just wanted to show that he could show the world, master the skills that others had handed to them. This would be his edge.
"I got this, I can do this." He muttered, moving through each motion carefully, as to not create any flaws. He, like all ninja in the academy, had basic kenjutsu skill from using kunai but this was different. It was a matter of focus, and skill and style.
He only had a month to get a grip on this style and when that happened, he would graduate and use his skill in battle or at least in spars against his genin team.
Buckling down, he moved faster, as fast as he could with the weights on his ankles and wrists. Five pounds overall, but still, it would set him on a better path. They had to, ninja rarely had extra chances... battles were to be without mercy.
And that was a fact.

Days passed into weeks and finally into a full month. Mika found himself sitting at his training field, holding his headband. The test was appallingly easy, just a written test and proof of the clone jutsu. Two really simple things, Mika was pretty sure he tested high. He was always really smart academically speaking, so really there was no struggle there. And other than Naruto, who acted like he drank led paint for fun, they all could easily do the Clone jutsu.
Hell, Mika was almost sure he outscored Sasuke in most places. At least academically...that being said, Sasuke's taijutsu was way better than Mika's, the boy was taught by the infamous Uchiha clan before they perished. His body was bred for power, he was fast and strong. Mika couldn't compete just yet...
He had time, no one said he had to be a god just yet, he would settle for low and slow growth if it meant survival. He had made incredible progress at Kenjutsu over the last month, he was pretty sure no one in his class, even Sasuke, could compete in that area.
No... no he was sure of that.
"In Three days, I get my team...and after that... after that, I walk my path to greatness."

The Academy three days later
After listening to Iruka's cutesy speech, which Mika mostly tuned out, it was time for his team. Mika waited, ignoring Naruto and Sakura being ... themselves, and listened for his team. "And team Thirteen. Mika, Fuki and Ami."
Mika groaned. 'Great, two fangirls... idiots. At least I got Ami and Fuki over some of the others. Fuki can really kick, and Ami's aim is actually pretty good. They might just survive long enough to get me into the chunin exams. That's really all I need them alive for.'
Mika stood, as Iruka left, and walked over to the fangirls. Ami was a pretty girl with purple hair and Fuki had spiky red hair. Both were nasty and rude, but he didn't care too much. He only needed to tolerate them for a year at best. "I guess we are on a team." he tried not cringing at that word, he was pretty sure he manged it.
They both sneered. "We guess so."
Mika sighed. "Might as well get along, we only have to be together for at best a year or two. I am sure we can manage."
Ami nodded slowly. "That's true."
"Good, now, if that is all. I will be reading until our sensei arrives."
"Fine, nerd."
And so they waited until after lunch, by which time a man with goggles and a spikey black hair appeared at the door. "Team Thirteen? Come with me."
And so they did, all three, nervous as could be as the start of their shinobi life was coming to fruition.

Aoba hated his job at times. Dead teams were never fun to teach, they either went back to the academy or were sent out as meat shields. Most never moved on beyond genin or chunin. Most were civilian born, as they would never waste the clan ninja. He felt bad for this poor kids, but that was life. It didn't matter that Fuki had great aim, or Ami had very physically strong, or that Mika had remarkable academic scores. None of them were slated to be much more that fodder...
A terrible practice set up by the Second Hokage, it had continued well into the modern day. All villages did it, you could tell what squads were destined for greatness, they always had the best senseis. These kids, even at their best, got a special jonin that was extremely busy in Torture and Interrogation.
They were screwed from the start...
And they never even knew it...
Pity, really a pity...
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
This was a lot of fun,
Love, your Ninja Overlord,
Mika.
