The moon, a source of light and hope in the depths of the night. It doesn't have its own light however, it takes and multiplies the light others have given it. Ash is my moon, he grounds me, keeps my center of gravity balanced. He appears like a beacon of hope in the middle of the night, literally.

Bang! I jolted awake, wondering what the kriff had just happened. Did a Pelikki run into the window? Bang! I looked over to see Bella huddled in the corner of the room, crying for some reason. "What you big baby?" Reese mocked her, looming over the now hysterical girl. "We're under-attack! We're gonna die a brutal death, they're trying to lure us outside!" I rolled my eyes, turning on a lamp, trying to figure out where the noise was coming from. "I bet its just some dumb kids looking for some trouble." I guessed turning off the light, deciding that it was better to just ignore them. Bang! "I'm gonna murder you all if you don't-" I slammed the window open, ready to scold the kids. However I saw a familiar face, my moon. "A dumb kid alright." Reese muttered under her breath. "Ash! What are you doing here?" His face lit up when he saw me, he's so cute. "I'm sorry if I woke you up, and I hate to ask this of you. Do you think you can come down?" He sounded pitiful, worried, and tired. My mind when to the worst places, did the baby die? Did Rue die? Did they both die? The panic started to rise, my chest compressing. "Yeah, of course. I'll be right there." Whatever it was, it couldn't wait. I ran down quickly, grabbing my wrap on my way out, well aware of the cold nights in the beautiful utopia. "Thank you." He smiled, a wave of relief rushing over me, he's okay, it's okay. "What's up?" I tilted my head to the side, allowing myself the relax. He looked down at his cloak, revealing a new born baby that was the spiting image of his father. "Oh, my force, Ash! Oh, he's so beautiful. He looks just like you." I looked up at his, secretly admiring his looks, then down at the child. "Thank you, I hope." He second-guessed himself, as if looking like you child was a bad thing. "Yeah, it's a compliment." I reassured him, looking at the kid. "Okay, good." He chuckled, drawing closer to me. "What happened to his cheek?" Reese brought up the issue, causing me to look at him. "What happened to your cheek?" I mimicked her, raging at the thought someone would even dare to hit such a fragile, adorable human being. "Oh, I don't know. What happened?" How does he not know?! He literally had a cut on his face, normally he would freak out that it was on his good side. "You have a cut. How did that happen?" I repeated my question, fighting the urge to send hounds after them. "Oh, I'm not quite sure." I touched his face, starting to heal him discreetly. "Well, no need to worry about it anymore. It's gone now." I shrugged it off, knowing that the damage was gone. Why did you bring your baby here? Surely not just so I could meet him." I inquired, wondering why he would risk the long trip with such a young child, knowing th dangers of getting sick without a developed immune system. "Rue disowned him." Those words hit me like a train, how could a mother who had the means to take care of their child give them up? "What? Why on Kamino would she do that?!" My face was surely red, I wasn't sure if it was better for Rue to be away from him, or close to him. "He was born deaf." So? Why does that matter? "And so for that, she abandons her infant son?!" I was outraged, this was the most ridiculous thing I had ever heard! "Oh, poor baby. May I hold him?" I asked as my heart ached for the poor child. "Yeah, of course." He reminded me of my own son, so small and helpless at this stage, needing his protector, his mother, who had just left him. The motherly instincts came back as I looked at him, I'll be your mother. You're mine. "The kids are still on the ship." Ash blurted out, as if he forgot his other children."The rest of the kids are here too?" I was shocked, why would he take such a trip just for me to see his new son? "Rue kicked me out, gave me her ring, threw it at me, actually, told me she never wants to see me again. I didn't know where else to go." I saw tears form in his eyes and knew exactly how he felt. That feeling of not being able to take care of your own kids, having to leave them in the care of others. It was the worst thing in the galaxy. "Oh, Ash. It's okay. It's okay. You can stay here." I patted his cheek, rubbing it to offer comfort. "No, no." He put his hand over my wrist, causing me to flinch. "Please don't hurt us.' Bella whimpered, sending fear to replace my blood. "He won't." Reese stated, and for once I was on her side, he would never. "I couldn't impose." He shook his head, declining my offer. "You're not imposing." I smiled, knowing that we had thousands of spare rooms that were begging for attention. "We'll stay in the ship for tonight and be out of your hair tomorrow, don't worry." Yes, of course I won't worry about a newborn baby staying in a unkept, cold, most likely unclean ship. "Under no circumstances will my newborn nephew spend his first night in this universe in a cargo ship." I turned Sam away from Ash, doubting his parenting skills."Thank you." He admitted defeat much to my delight, finally accepting help. I'm really sorry. I don't want to be a burden." I mentally rolled my eyes, the thought of Ash being a burden made Reese laugh. "You couldn't possibly be one. You let me stay in your room the last time you were here and rescued me from torture. I'm simply returning the favor. Come on, let's go inside."
