Adelaide gasped as she quickly sat up and looked around her surroundings carefully. When she realized she was inside her bedroom and not in the freezing cold water, she took a deep breath of relief. Ever since she had woken up from beeing in a coma, caused by the accident that took her parents life. Adelaide had only been home from the hospital for a week, when the nightmares began. Adelaide turned and reached her hand out for her cell-phone to see the time and she sighed as she saw it was only a littel over 6 am, and she decided to take a shower. She got out of her bed and walked out of her bedroom and walked down the hallway and into the bathroom.
The hot water comming from the shower head felt amazing compared to the the freezing cold water in her dream. She washed her hair and body, she turned off the water and stepped out of the shower. She grabbed a towel from the cabinet and wrapped it around herself, she turned the light off in the bathroom and walked back to her bedroom.
Adelaide made her way towards her closet, where she grabbed a blue bra and matching pair of hotpants before pulling on a black top and black legging. She grabbed the red leather jacket that was hainging on the back of her desk chair, before she made her wat towards the mirror and looked at her reflecting in the mirror. The girl she saw in the mirror was not someone that she recgnized, she looked so defferent. She sighed as she pulled her hair into a messy bun before she began to put her jewelry on. Which was a locket with had her mom´s and dad´s picture inside, and her breacelet that had a nightgale charm on it. Adelaide made her way towards the door, she quickly slipped her boots on before she made her way down stairs.
Adelaide walked into the kitchen and saw her aunt Jenna mumbling to herself while she was staring into the refrigerator. Jenna turned her head when she heard footsteps behind her and she smiled as she saw Adelaide, but the smile vanished as she saw the tired look that was on her face.
"Another nightmare?" Jenna questioned.
"Yeah." Adelaide said as she made her way towards the table and pulled out a chair and sat down on it.
"You sure, you´re ready to go back to school?" Jenna questioned with a worried look on her face.
Adelaide shook her head." No. But i need to. If not for me then for them."
"Honey." Jenna walked towards Adelaide and sat down on the chair beside her and squeezed her hand affectionately." They will understand if you´re not ready. You don´t need to be so hard on yourself. you..."
"Is there any coffee." Adelaide questioned as she quickly stood up and walked towards the coffee machine and poured some coffee into a cup before adding some milk. Adelaide took s sip as she turned back towards Jenna, and saw her staring at her.
"I promise to come to you if it becomes to much. deal?"
" Deal."
"Is there any coffee?" Jeremy questioned as he walked into the kitchen. Adelaide pointed to the cofffee machine, and Jeremy made his way towards the coffee machine and made himself a cup.
"Coffee. Elena?" Adelaide questioned as she saw her sister walking into the kitchen.
"Hey!" Jeremy said as he turned his head so he could look at his older sister. "No. Hey Jeremy, do you want some coffee. Noooo. I have to make it myself.
"get over it loser." Adelaide told him as she turned around and picked up the coffee pot and poured some into a cup and added a small teaspoon of suger and milk. she turned and walked towards Elena and reached the cup out for her to take.
"You´re a lifesaver." Elena mumbled as she took the cup from her sister.
"I know." Adelaide said as she sat down beside Elena.
"Your first day at school and I´m totally unprepared." Jenna mumbled as she quickly grabbed her wallet out of her purse, she walked towards the three teenagers and held out some money.
"lunch money?"
"I´m good." Elena told her aunt, but Jeremy snatched the money and turned towards Adelaide, who looked down at the money in his left hand." Why do you get more?" She questioned as she pointed a finger at his right hand.
"You get what you get, and you don´t get upset." Jeremy said with a grin.
"Loser." Adelaide said as she picked up a piece of fruit and threw it at his head.
"Enough you two." Jenna said, shaking her head as she looked between the two of them. Okay. Anything else? A number two pencil?" She question as she looked between the three teenagers, who where looking at each other, before looking back at their aunt.
"What?" Jenna questioned.
" Don´t you have a big presentation too day?" Elena asked.
"Maybe it is you who need a number two pencil?" Jeremy mumbled into his coffee cup.
I gat believe i forgot." Jenna said a she began to pack up her purse as she spoke." I´m meeting with my thesis advisor at..." Jenna looked down at her watch." Now. Crap!"
"Then go!" Adelaide told her aunt.
"We will be fine." Elena reassured her with a smile on her face.
"Love you!" Jenna yelled as she ran out of the kitchen.
Adelaide looked towards Jeremy to see him staring at Elena and she was about to ask what was going on, when Jeremy stomped out of the kitchen." What was that all about?" Adelaide questioned as she turned towards Elena.
"He hates me." Elena mumbled.
"He could never hate you." Adelaide told her. "He´s just dealing with it differently." She said as she squeezed Elena´s arm." Just give him some time.
"Do you hate me?" Elena asked.
"What? No." Adelaide said shaking her head." Why, would you think that?"
"What happened to you it is my fault." Elena said.
"I don´t hate you, and what happened that night was an accident, okay?"
Elena nodded her head with a sigh." I love you."
"I love you more." Adelaide told her as she stood." Come one. Bonnie..." Adelaide began but before she could finish her sentence, there was a honk from outside. She smiled before she continued." Will be here soon." Elena rolled her eyes before she followed after her sister and slammed the door behind her.
The car was filled with silence as Bonnie drove through the small town, before she decided to breake it." So Grams is telling me I´m a psychic." Bonnie began. "Our ancestors were from Salem, witches and all that. I know, crazy, she´s going on and on about it, and I´m like, put this women in a home already!" She pondered for a moment." But then i started to think, I predicted Obama, and i predicted Heath Ledger, and i still think Florida will break off and turn into littel resort islands."
Adelaide chuckled and smiled at her friend."Hey, you never know, you could be a witch."
Adelaide turned and looked out of the window, and of course they would be passing the familiar cemetery. She sighed, it was the cemetery where her parents were laid to rest. It still hurt Adelaide to know she had missed her parents funeral. Jenna had told her that because they didn´t know when our if she would wake up, they had to go a head with the funeral, and she understood, she really did but it still hurt to know she had not been there.
"Elena! Adelaide! Back in the car! Bonnie yelled.
Adelaide jumped, not realizing she had spaced out." Sorry, Bonnie."
"Yeah, sorry Bonnie." Elena said as she looked over at her friend. "So, you were telling us that..."
"That she´s a psychic now." Adelaide cut in.
"Right." Elena said, not knowing if Bonnie and her sister were serious so she decided to play along." Okay, then perdict something about us." Elena told her.
Bonnie took a deep breath." I see..." But before Bonnie could finish her sentence, a bird suddenly bounced off the window, causing Bonnie to lose control of the car. What felt like hours, were actually second before she got control and quickly pulled the car to a complete stop.
Bonnie gasped in shook." What was that!" She moved her eyes between the Gilbert sisters in worry." Oh, my god. Are you guys okay?"
" It was like a bird our something." Bonnie quickly tried to explain." It came out of nowhere.
Elena shook her head." Really, w...we can´t be freaked out by cars for the rest of our lives. Right?" Elena said as she looked up at Adelaide through the rearview mirror.
Adelaide nodded her head in agreement before she looked over at Bonnie and gave her a encouraging smile." We will be okay." She promised.
Bonnie looked between the Gilbert sisters before she took a deep breath." I predict this year is going to be kick ass and i predict all the sad and dark times are over and you guys are going to be happy." She told them. The sisters smiled at each other before they smiled over at Bonnie.
Adelaide. Elena and Bonnie made their way through the busy hallway of Mystic Falls high school. " Major lack of male real estate." Bonnie said as she looked across the hallway before she continued." look at the shower curtain on Kelly Beech. She looks like a hot..." Bonnie paused in though as she looked towards the Gilbert sisters." Can i still say tranny mess?" She asked as they came to a stop by Bonnie´s locker.
"No, that´s defintly over." Elena told her.
Adelaide rolled her eyes at Elena. Bonnie nodded her head as she stated. Ahh, find a man, coin a phrase. It´s a busy year."
Adelaide looked behind her once she noticed Bonnie´s attention was on something behind her, and she turned around and saw her best friend and her sisters ex-boyfriend staring at them, and she smiled and waved her hand at him. Matt smiled back at her, but the smile vanished as he looked towards Elena and he turned around and grabbed his books from inside his locker and closed it before walking down the hallway.
"He hates me." Elena sighed sadly.
"What did you expect." Adelaide said as she turned towards her locker and laide her head on the locker." You dumped him." She turned to Elena when she realized she had said it out loud." Sorry." She said before closing her eyes shut.
"You okay?" Elena asked as she rubbed Adelaide´s back.
"Headache." Adelaide mumbled.
"Maybe you should have stayed home." Bonnie told her as she looked towards Elena with s worried look on her face.
"Just give me a minute, and i will be fine." Adelaide told them.
Before Elena could say anything else, she saw a familiar blond comming straight towards them." Incomming." Elena warned.
"Adelaide. Elena. Oh, my god." Caroline yelped before she pulled each Gilbert sisters into a hug. As she pulled away she looked between Adelaide and Elena. How are you guys?" But before either of them could get a word out. Caroline spoke." It´s so good to see you guys." She quickly turned to Bonnie." How are they? Are they good? Is she good?" Caroline asked as she nodded her head towards Adelaide.
"Care. We´re fine. I´m fine." Adelaide promised her.
Caroline looked over at Adelaide." Really?" She questioned.
"Care. You haven´t left me alone since i came home from the hospital. I think you would have figured out, if i wasn´t."
Elena linked her arm with Adelaide´s before she spoke." We´re fine. We promise.
Caroline looked between the Gilbert sisters before pulling both girls into another hug." Oh, you poor things." She mumbled before she pulled away, and looked between the three girls." Okay, see you yous later."
Before any of them could say anything. Caroline was already walking down the hallway."No comment." Elena said as she saw the amused look on Bonnie´s face.
"I wasn´t going to say anything." Bonnie chuckled.
"Come on guys. You know Caroline means well." Adelaide said before she walked away from the two of them.
"Where´re you going?" Elena shouted after her sister.
"I´m going to fine Matt!" She yelled back as she walked down the hallway in search of Matt. She found him leaning against Tyler Lookwood´s locker. She sighed. She hadn´t really talked to Tyler since the accident, she had been so hurt when she found out he had cheated on her for weeks leading up to the accident. She knew he had been visiting her at the hospital and he had been calling her non stop ever since she had been released from the hospital, but she just couldn´t get her self to answering his calls. It might have been months to him, but for her the pain was still fresh.
"You can do this." She told herself before she walked towards the two boys. "Hey losers." She said as she made her way towards them.
Matt smiled as he huged his best friend." How´re you doing to day? Any pain? Did you sleep okay?" Matt asked with concern.
"I´m fine."
"You´re lying." Tyler said from where he stood leaning against the lockers.
"Ty...!" Matt scowled.
"Look at her face." Tyler said as he pushed himself away from the lockers so he could stand in front of Adelaide, and he grabbed her chin with his fingers lifting her head towards the light, and both boys saw Adelaide shut her eyes before she pulled her head away.
"Adelaide."
"Matt. I´m fine as soon as the meds kick in. Walk me to class." She asked him.
"My, lady." Matt said as he held his arm out for her to take.
"Thank you, kind sir." Adelaide said as she took his arm.
"And you call me a loser." Tyler said shaking his head as he turned and walked down the hallway.
"What´s his problem?" Adelaide questioned as they walked towards Tanner´s class.
"You know what his problem is." Matt told her.
Adelaide stopped walking and turned to face Matt." It might have been months to him, but for me it still feel..." Adelaide sighed before she continued." It still hurts Matt."
"Have you told him how you feel?" Matt asked her.
Adelaide shook her head." No."
"I really thing you should tell him. he might be a shitty boyfriend..."
"Ex-boyfriend." Adelaide cut in.
"Ex-boyfriend, but he cares about and deep down i think it scare him and..."
"Can we not do this." Adelaide asked him as she took his arm and dragged him down the hallway just as the final bell rung.
