It was a bright and sunny day in the town of Peach Creek, Minnesota. Normally, the mischievous trio of Ed, Edd (Double-D to his friends), and Eddy would be coming up with some zany scam to scrounge up money for jawbreakers or getting into some kind of shenanigans but things were quite different today.
In the house of Edwin Horace Alba, the lovable oaf with freakish strength was hurriedly packing up all of his essentials into a sock, comically oversizing it as he tossed some bread into a toaster and then took out a stick of butter from a hidden pantry as the toast popped up, which he caught on a plate and slathered the butter on.
"Trip! Trip! Trip!" The boy chanted.
Ed had tanned yellow skin with a distinguishable unibrow, emerald green eyes, and feathery auburn hair. He wore a green jacket over a red and white striped t-shirt, purple jeans, and black shoes.
After making sure everything was stored in his bottomless sock from his decorative sponges to his comic books and video games, Ed quickly zoomed out of the house, his legs dragging his top half, which was his normal running stance.
Eddward Marion Nucci was busy writing a letter to his parents in his room, humming to himself as he hoped they'd be able to see it.
"Beloved parents, me and my friends have accepted an overseas scholarship in Japan. I don't know how long we'll be away but I sincerely hope that all is well with you and that you don't need to worry about me."
The boy sighed as he put the finishing touches on his note and went to the kitchen, placing it on the fridge as neatly as he could before looking over his suitcases to see he had everything he needed.
Edd, or Double-D as his friends always called him, was an intellectual young man of average height with pale peach skin, bright yellow hair, and crystal blue eyes. He wore a tomato red t-shirt, purple shorts, long red socks, and light blue shoes. The most distinguishing part of him was his black sock-like hat that he always wore on his head.
As he made his way out the front door, he saw Ed already waiting for him, dragging a giant sock filled to the brim with just about everything from his room.
"We're going on a trip, Double-D!"
Double-D smiled at his friend. "Yes, Ed. And what a trip it will be."
"Come on! Fit, darn you!"
Jumping on top of his suitcase to squeeze all of his stuff into it was Eddy Skipper McGee, the de-facto leader of 'The Eds'. Now this was a sense of deja vu for him, many years ago, he was in a similar situation but in a lot more stressful moment. Now, he was still pretty stressed, but for a different reason.
"Crap! Ed and Double-D are probably already done by now and are waiting for me!"
Suddenly, a knock on his back patio door alerted him and he groaned in frustration before bouncing off his bed and delivering an elbow drop to his suitcase, finally completely sealing it shut.
"I'm coming!"
Eddy was a young man of below-average height with dark blue hair that had three asymmetrical stalks jutting out and chocolate brown eyes. He wore a yellow t-shirt with a purple collar and a red horizontal stripe running down it, light blue jeans, and red shoes. He also carried a wallet chain in his pocket.
"We're here!" Ed cheered as he kicked down the door, making Eddy jump before growling.
"Ed, you idiot! I said I was coming!"
"Well, you know how excited he is for this, Eddy." Double-D pointed out from behind his oafish friend.
"Come on, we've got First-Class Seats all the way!" Eddy said as he pulled his suitcase along. "This is gonna be great!"
The Eds had recently gotten an invitation to study abroad in Japan. All expenses would be paid, thankfully, and they'd even get a nice home to live in for the duration of their stay.
"I for one am excited to be learning about Japan's culture and studying in a brand-new school environment," Double-D said positively. "As well as making new friends along the way!"
"Those are all well and good, Double-D, but I'm talking up all the good stuff!" Eddy smirked. "Our favorite flavored Jawbreakers, new opportunities for scams, so many possibilities!"
Double-D rolled his eyes. "Of course, you'd be interested in your typical con artist fascinations. I for one am fully willing to admire and respect the culture and sights."
"ANIME, GUYS! WE'RE GONNA SEE ALL THE ANIME!" Ed cheered.
"Ed's got his priorities straight," Eddy smirked. "Come on, Double-D! Live a little!"
Double-D sighed. "You two are impossible sometimes..."
Thankfully, the Eds were now old enough to drive and all had gotten their driver's licenses. Yes, even Ed, who thankfully had gotten a bit smarter in recent years but was still the same lovable doofus everyone knew and loved him as.
After making their way to the airport, the Eds were surprised to see four others waiting for them.
"Kevin? Johnny? Rolf? Jimmy?"
"What are you guys doing here?" Eddy asked.
"We're getting ready to go abroad for Japan!" Johnny beamed. "Plank is itching to get some good sushi eating going on!"
"Guess you dorks got invited too, huh?" Kevin smirked. "Small world, huh?"
"Rolf has had such fun learning the cultures of the go-go Land of the Free!" Rolf said. "Now Rolf shall endeavor to learn the noble cultures of Japan!"
"I want to get stronger and smarter!" Jimmy said with determination. "I'll do whatever I can to become a true man!"
Kevin Machone, the Eds' on-off archnemesis, wore his signature red baseball cap turned backward which covered his buzzcut auburn hair. His eyes were hazelnut brown and he wore a green sweater, black shorts, white socks, and black shoes.
Rolf Yvorik, the foreign boy whose homeland contained countless bizarre customs, had his wild navy blue hair out and his unibrow thin and straight. He wore his yellow t-shirt which fit his lean tanned frame, light blue farm pants, and orange farm shoes.
Johnny Sagewood, the goofy kid who just lived life freely, wore his white t-shirt, baggy torn blue jeans, and sandals. His dark brown hair had grown out slightly but was still kept short. His best friend, Plank, was hugged close to his chest, the wooden board still having its prominent drawn-on smiley face.
Finally, Jimmy kept his light blonde hair fluffed up as usual, which complimented his baby blue eyes, and he had finally gotten rid of his old retainer. He wore his usual light blue sweater, white khaki pants, and black shoes.
"Huh, none of the girls got invited?" Eddy wondered. "What, is whoever inviting us sexist?"
"It does seem suspicious..." Double-D said, rubbing his chin. "Nevertheless, we shan't miss our flight."
"You got that right!" Kevin said. "Come on dudes, let's boogie!"
After passing through security and getting everything checked out, the boys managed to board their plane and were flying in their first-class seats. Eddy sighed in contentment as he kicked back in his chair while enjoying a lemonade.
"It'll take a while to get to Japan so it might be a good idea to brush up on our Japanese," Double-D said while reading a Japanese Dictionary.
"Don't worry! Plank's been teaching me!" Johnny smiled.
"It was quite hard for Rolf to get used to your fancy English word. But now that we must learn from Japan...Rolf shall have a hard time indeed." Rolf said, massaging his head.
Ed had his face pressed up against the window, admiring the sky and clouds as they sailed by. Jimmy was listening to some music to relax while sitting in his seat.
"So, when we touch down, what should we do first boys?" Eddy asked.
"I was thinking we could do some sightseeing. There are so many landmarks that I have been dying to see with my own eyes!" Double-D smiled.
"ANIME GOOD FOR ED!" Ed cheered, peeling his face off the window.
"Rolf would also wish to endeavor in the seeing of sights!" Rolf said. "Johnny The Wood Boy has been prattling on about desiring to see the landmarks!"
"Yeah! And you know Plank, he's gotta get some of that sushi in him!"
"Yeah, that's cool and all but I'm thinking we might be able to check out some hot babes." Kevin chuckled. "But Dork has got the right idea; anime convention for the win!"
Jimmy looked determined. "I'll become a stronger and tougher person when we get there. I just know it!"
As the seven Cul-De-Sac Boys excitedly chatted about what they planned on doing for their abroad trip, they had no idea just what was in store for them. For better or for worse, their lives would be changed forever...
A long time ago, I made a crossover between Ed Edd n Eddy and Senran Kagura but I deleted it because I lost track of what to do with the story. Years later, I've regretted that mistake and now seek to rectify it with this revival effort.
This is merely just a small taste of what's to come. The Eds plus Kevin, Rolf, Johnny, and Jimmy, have been invited to study abroad over in Japan. However, there's more to their invitation than meets the eye and the boys' lives will be changed in more ways than one.
One thing is for certain...there's gonna be a lot of life and hometown involved.
