Patrick's Secret

Prologue

"Patrick! Don't worry, buddy, I'm coming!" Those words echoed through the pink starfish's eardrums as he lay lifelessly on his back in a daze. It was almost as if he were dreaming, but he was pretty sure he had been playing with his best friend, Spongebob Squarepants.

Yes, he thought, we were playing, and I tripped or something? His vision started to clear up, but Patrick still struggled to get a good look at his surroundings. Coral. Spiky coral that surrounded him so tightly that he felt claustrophobic.

"Patrick, can you hear me!" his best friend shouted, pushing the starfish to sit up and scan the area. He knew Spongebob would expect him to panic and cry, because…

That was the persona he stuck with. He knew that Spongebob found him sensitive, and whenever they were in a kink together, the yellow sponge would be the one to keep them going.

However, it was actually the other way around.

Patrick came off as a very slow, simple, minded creature that was supposed to follow Spongebob around and follow his ideas and expect the yellow guy to save the day.

Although, that wasn't the case, and Spongebob was not aware of what his best friend was actually thinking.

"What, Spongebob?" The starfish let out awkwardly as he held himself in fear and shivered, expecting his buddy to pop in any minute. He realized that he was in a field of thorny corals, and he pictured Spongebob squeezing his way through to rescue him.

"Keep talking, Patrick! I'll follow your voice!"

Patrick knew his friend all too well to know that he wouldn't back down. In fact, he would risk his yellow spongy self just to make him happy. "Hurry, Spongebob! Hurry, Spongebob! Hurry, Spongebob!, Hurry Spongebob!"

The starfish continued to scream his friend's name until he would find him, or at least a moment after.

It wasn't long before he realized Spongebob was standing in front of him, but continued to call out his name like he didn't notice.

"Patrick, I'm already here," he said calmly.

Patrick took that opportunity to make him aware that he saw him, and threw himself in for a hug. "Oh, Spongebob!"

"I know, I know!" Spongebob cried, refusing to hold back any tears that leaked out of his crystal blue eyes.

Patrick felt warm in his friend's arm; not because he needed it, but because he wanted it. He never doubted that and continued to let it flow through his mind as he and his friend were able to get out of the coral field, and back into town.

"Maybe we should go get a bite to eat at the Krusty Krab," Spongebob suggested as he dragged his friend along beside him.

Patrick didn't decline, and in fact loved the idea. He loved everything he did with his friend, even if it meant keeping his identity hidden.

Only because they asked me to, he thought. If Spongebob knew the truth, then I don't think our friendship would continue to hold.
