I don't own these characters nor Danny Phantom.

A/N at end

They always had a complicated relationship, but aren't first loves supposed to be that way? It was amazing at the start. Like they were getting to know each other all over again, but better. Passionate kisses, intense laughter and the hazy way they would caress their bodies. They were young, but life and differences got in the way and now, they had moved on.

Now nearly ten years later. In a crowded bar, Danny was happily drinking his beer with Tucker. Enjoying the loud music that can be heard booming while they stood in the smoking room. "Man, this is so good!" Tucker was over the moon that they managed to venture out that night. Danny nodded in response and took a sig out of his drink, "Definitely overdue." Danny scanned over the area, enjoying everyone around him who matched their high spirts. He stopped to look at one group, not too far away from them. Two couples laughing and shouting in glee. Then.. his stomach did a flip.

Standing in a long-sleeved cream dress, black boots peaking out of the slit of outfit. Messy curly hair in a high bun with arms crossed, clenching a drink. Smiling up at the people that she was with. He couldn't believe his eyes. It was Sam. His heart started to beat faster. What is she doing here? Last he heard she was living in Canada for the last two years so it was incredible strange to see her standing in downtown Amity Ville.

Tucker caught on to Danny suddenly become ridged and followed his glance, "Oh shit! Is that Sam?" Danny still frozen, he continued "Did you ever reply to her message?" Danny shook his head no, "It was clearly a drunk message, she deleted it after two hours, so I never did". Tucker sighed in annoyance. "Wonder what she is doing here now." It was hard, for all three of them when Danny and Sam ended things. Tucker tried not take sides because both parties were in the wrong, but he had hoped that eventually that either they would have worked this out or the friendship would of gotten back on track. Tucker looked back at his pint and took a long sip of it

Sam then looked over and caught Danny eyes and while she looked a bit surprised, she gave a small smile in his direction but quickly looked away. Sure, she was slightly ashamed on some parts of their past. Like the one drunk text she sent not too long ago but more so when she and Danny nearly got back together after she had a bad break up. He had never known how bad it was with the other guy and he was more than happy to reconnect and when things started to look like they could start back again, she ghosted him when the panic set in.

One of the guys that was with Sam put his arms around her, making her body turn away from her old friends. Danny had seen him before when he had creeped on her Instagram stories once or twice. He was a tall man with wavy brown hair and a red beard. He had presumed that they were just friends and not actually a couple but quickly came to the conclusion that they were in fact together and maybe visiting Sam's friends in their home town.

"I wonder if that's the guy that she was speaking about a couple of years ago" Danny found himself saying out loud. "You mean the night when you called her a bitch?" Tucker said dryly. "Yeah, I know Tucker. Not one of my best of moments" Danny tore his eyes away from the scene in front of him and looked to see Tucker's reaction, he cringed when he saw that in fact that Tucker seemed furious. He wasn't sure if he was pissed off about the memory or the fact that now the energy had shifted from fun to awkward.

In the same moment, Sam was trying to keep her composer and said she was only shivering because it was cold. The last thing she needed was someone to ask what the matter was because she did not want to explain who she just saw in front of her friends, especially with her boyfriend with her.

What were the chances that Tucker and Danny would be in the same place as her. "Stupid, they live here!", she kicked herself mentally. "Stop thinking about them, focus on the conversation". She forced a smile on her face and looked up at her boyfriend who was laughing at something one of her friends had just said.

She turned her head slightly, just to see if she had imagined the two men and but saw Danny drain the last of his drink, slapped his arm on Tucker's shoulders to move back into the late bar. Sam looked down at her drink. This very small interaction did not go unnoticed by her girlfriend. She gave Sam a sad smile as she knew what Danny and Sam had meant to each other when they were in their late teens. Sam had spilled some of her past relationship to her when they started to become close.

"Shots anyone?" she heard, more arms surrounding her, pulling her into a group hug. Voices of 'sure!' and 'fuck, yes!' in response. Sam took a deep breath and followed in the same direction that Danny and Tucker just took a few moments ago. She welcomed the warm air of the venue hit her in the face and headed straight to bar, oblivious to the fact that Danny and Tucker had managed to get a table right beside her friends one that had jackets and half filled drinks littered across the table.
