I'm just trying to shake the writing rust off with this. Hope you enjoy.

Zelda hummed to herself softly as she felt fingers glide through her hair. For a moment she allowed herself to close her eyes and decompress, a long day of writing her thesis paper clearly took a lot out of her as the popping noises from her shifting body made themselves known. The Hylian tried to make herself sit straighter in order for the hands' occupant to be able to braid her hair properly.

The ministrations stopped and Zelda took a moment to open her eyes, readjust to the light in her bedroom. Ah, right, she remembered now. Both women came back to Zelda and Link's shared apartment after Impa's work shift at a local coffee shop and Zelda's intense stint in the library. The main goal was to steal Link's snacks and then watch a new episode of a Sheikah drama that Impa was invested in. Now though, it seems they were going to have to delay the watch party….at least if Zelda had anything to say about it.

"Impa?"

"Yes, Princess?"

That caused the younger woman to shiver. Sure it was a nickname from the years when Impa was appointed to be her bodyguard by her father. Being a political figure caused him to have enemies after all. Regardless, it still had the same effect on her, from the first time they officially met to the realization that she, Zelda Nayru Hyrule developed a crush on the Sheikah.

I still have this crush on her….Zelda thought but turned herself around so she could face Impa.

"You know, I never noticed this about you…" She started, grabbing the other woman's hand and grazing her thumb over the knuckles. "I've seen you throw knives, punch people and have your hands covered in blood, yet I'm just surprised that you can be so gentle. In all my years knowing you I'm still discovering new things. It's nice." "It's nice"? That's what your going with?

Red eyes stared into blue ones. Then Impa smiled slowly, making the rather constantly serious face that she had on soften. "Well there are other ways I can be gentle you know."

The Hylian inched herself closer. "Hmmm….can we perhaps test this theory of yours?"

A deep laugh rumbled from the older woman. "Why certainly Zelda" she replied and pressed her lips against hers.

Hours later Zelda awoke to a sunset and an empty bed. She stretched and grabbed her phone from her bedside table looking at the time. There was a text from Impa 45 minutes ago:

[I didn't leave. I'm taking a shower and making tea. I'll be back soon.]

The young woman smiled and sat up as texted in question pushed opened the bedroom door with her body, two cups of tea in hand, wearing Zelda's bathrobe.

"So" The Sheikah began, sitting next to Zelda and giving her one of the teacups, "Link knows."

That almost caused the Hylian to spat out her drink. "Excuse me?"

"When I was making the tea, Link came in, took one look and congratulated me. It appears that he has noticed your crush on me for some time and wanted us to do something about it for a while. If we didn't soon he was going to try and set us up on a date."

"Would that actually work?"

"Depends. Would you have realized it was a date?"

"We do hang out quite often so probably not. Also, I'm going to kill him."

"Don't kill your brother, he has good intentions. And it's decided then, tomorrow we are going on a date. " Impa thoughtfully declared. Zelda snorted.

"Aren't we doing this backwards? Shouldn't we have done that before this?" A gesture was made between them.

"There is no real right way to court someone, especially when it involves two people who have known each other for years."

"So that's what you're doing? Courting me?"

"Of course, Princess. Now if you're done with your tea, I would like to get back into bed and sleep."

Zelda scooted over and when they both settled, Impa wrapped her arms around the younger woman's waist, pulling her close. Before Zelda closed her eyes, she remembered something to ask.

"Impa?"

"Yes?"

"Tomorrow, before our date….can you braid my hair?"

A kiss against her forehead came first, then the faint murmur of "whatever you wish" was heard before she drifted off with a smile.
