Chapter: One
Rose Tyler was taking a stroll through the park of St. James' walking along the bank of the lake. She was thinking about her Mom, Pete, Tony and how everyone she loved were gone. She looked up and she swears her heart stiffened because a few feet away was a man with ginger hair and dark sunglasses. She doesn't need to see his eyes to know who he was. She recognized that profile anywhere.
But deep down she knew it wasn't the Doctor but someone looked like him and it wasn't the meta-crisis because he died a few years ago. So who was this man? She also noticed that he was feeling down, the same as her. Maybe he could use a friend and so could she.
So with that in mind, she started making her way towards the man sitting on the bench.
--XxXxX--
Crowly, a demon from Hell was sitting on the park bench, leaned back, arm spread out on top of the bench in St. James' park, legs out in front of him where he would always used to sit with his best friend, and someone he really cared about; Aziraphale. He was thinking about what he was offered, a chance to become an angel once again. But, after everything he doesn't want anything to do with Heaven or hell. He just wants to get away and be….free.
He had expressed his feelings for the angel but Aziraphale didn't even respond back and if he was honest, it stung. Doesn't he not feel the same way? After everything they've been through, everything they did for each other, why would he bother going back to heaven when it can be just them two against the world? He felt like his heart got ripped in two, which was impossible because he was a demon. He wasn't supposed to have….feelings.
Right?
But he did, and the one person he expressed it to didn't feel the same. He took a deep breath and looked out in the distance towards the water. He didn't know what he was gonna do. So, for the first time in his very, very long life he feels…..lost.
That was until he heard someone approaching, "Is this seat taken?" asked a woman whose he could tell was a local. He looked up to see she was blonde and was…..if he was being honest, very beautiful. He shook his head, "No." he said with a shrug looking back out towards the distance as the girl walked around the bench and sat down beside him.
They sat there for a few minutes in silence, just looking out into the water. "I noticed you look a little down. Figured you could use a friend." She said in a gentle tone not looking at him.
Crowley looked towards the girl sitting next to him and he could tell that she wasn't entirely human, she had a golden aura surrounding her. It was like looking at the sun. He sighed and looked away, "You wouldn't understand." He replied, deciding if he should tell her the truth or not. Usually he wouldn't tell any other human, but this girl, who and whatever she was, wasn't human. Not entirely.
"Try me." she said as he turned and saw her looking at him with her eyes that held so much love, compassion, and curiosity. He sighed, "Well, considering you're not entirely human. I guess I can tell you." he said.
The girl smiled, "Oh? What gave you that idea?" She asked him her eyes flashing gold for a few minutes before returning back to their brown color. The Demon Crowley didn't know what to think about the girl with the golden eyes. Was she here to destroy him? Had Hell figured out about the little ruse that he and Aziraphale came up with? Has Heaven?
No, they would've done that already. So why was she here? That was the question he wanted to ask.
"My name is Rose. Rose Tyler." She introduced herself by holding out her hand. The Demon looked at her hand before looking back at the girl and shook her hand. "Anthony J. Crowley." He introduced himself.
"Pleasure to meet ya, Crowley." Rose replied, taking her hand back. The Demon nodded. "And to you as well, Tyler." He said, looking back out towards the water.
Rose sighed, she knew that this wasn't the Doctor. But for some reason, she couldn't help but meet him. Anthony Crowley. Nice name. Even has ginger hair, oh if The Doctor was here now he would be ecstatic. She let out a small smile at the thought.
But, no he's just someone that looks like him. That's the thing of parallel dimensions; you can always find someone who would look like someone you knew. Or in Rose's case, someone she had loved. She doesn't know why but she feels like this man could use a friend.
"So, wanna tell me what got you so down?" She asked in a gentle tone as if she was talking to a child.
Crowley sighed, "Not really." He answered without looking at the woman.
The woman nodded her head, "I get that. It will help if you talk about it. How about I make you a deal.? You tell me what got you so down and in return, I'll tell you what you want to know about me. Considering I'm not entirely human as you lot put it." She told him, causing him to look at her with raised eyebrows but she wasn't looking at him.
"You really think that I wouldn't notice that you were well….not human." She said, looking at him making the Demon tense up.
She laughed, "It's alright, believe it or not, I've seen worse creature's especially ones from other worlds." She replied with a sigh before looking out towards the water.
Crowley sniffed as he too looked out towards the lake, maybe he could tell her. After all, she's not really a human, so what's the harm? Maybe it wouldn't hurt to have another friend.
"Alright, fine I'll tell you." He said, taking a deep breath. "It all started 6,000 years ago when a Demon befriended an Angel…" Rose eyebrows rise up at Demons and Angels. They were real. "Wait, you're saying that ...they're real? Angels and Demons?" She asked with curiosity.
Crowley nodded, "Oh, Yes. Take me for example." He said leaning towards her and lowering his glasses for her to see his snake eyes and smiled, "Hi." He said, causing Rose to chuckle.
"They suit you." She commented as he pushed up his glasses before leaning back, "Now, where were we?" He asked as he cleared his throat before he continued telling her about him and the Aziraphale.
Rose sat there as she listened to the Demon Crowley talk about how he and Aziraphale did everything together and how they were the best of friends but what got to her the most was when he told her about him kissing the Angel but didn't kiss back.
He sighed, "…so, that's why I'm sitting here. Alone." He admitted looking at the ground thinking about the Angel. Rose sighed as scooted over a bit towards the lonely Demon and placed a hand on his shoulder giving it a gentle squeeze.
Crowley looked at her hand and then to her face and saw a look of….understanding. Could she really understand what he was feeling? Did she love someone who didn't love her back?
"I'm so sorry, Anthony." She said, "Believe it or not, I get it." She replied, taking her hand off and looking out to the distance.
"Guess it's my turn then." She added before clearing her throat and started to explain her life. She started out telling him that she wasn't original originally from this universe, that she was trapped here with the double of the man whom she loved and that the man she loved left her and his double here. She explained what he was and their adventures together. But then she was trapped here the first time after the Battle of Canary Wharf.
She explained how the double wanted to be his own person and left Rose. She told him about BadWolf and how it affected her, making her immortal and that the double died along with everyone she loved through the years, her family leaving her alone in the world.
She shrugged her shoulders, "…Now here I am. Telling a Demon my life story." She ended as Crowley sighed. "I know That a demon usually doesn't say this, but I'm sorry for what happened." He said as Rose nodded. "Me too." She replied.
"Can I….I don't know, Tempt you to a spot of tea? I know this place is nearby." He offered to look at her. Rose smiled and nodded her head, "I would like that." She offered as they both stood up and walked side-by-side.
While walking Crowley looked over to the blonde woman walking beside him. They were more alike than he thought. They were both alone in the world, felt hurt by the people they both loved, even the immortality.
Maybe, just maybe, he may have another friend to talk to. With that in mind he looked forward and continued their walk.
A BadWolf and A Demon. Together. Just as it should be.
End of Story Note: This is it! The first chapter. I don't know if I'm making a second chapter, so until I decide I'm gonna mark this as "Complete".
