Christopher was at the park with Gigi checking out some hot Moms as he pushed her on the swing. Sherry's new boyfriend had grown tired of her constantly trying to make him dress better and left her, so she told Chris they could give it another chance. He had told her that after giving Lorelai a chance that HE realized she wasn't right for him and that's why he came to France. He knew that he made some mistakes in his past, but now he had money, a beautiful woman and a little girl. It was his second chance and he wasn't going to blow it.
Sherry was walking down a cobblestone street, on her way to meet Chris and Gigi when her phone rang.
"Alo?" she answered in her practiced Parisian voice.
"Hi Sherry, it's Rory. How are you?"
"I'm great Rory, how are you?"
"I've been better," Rory admitted.
"Oh Honey, I'm almost at the park to meet your Dad and Gigi. Do you want to talk to him?"
"No Sherry, I need to talk to you. Please don't meet up with him just yet, you need to know what's happened here."

"You did what?" Lorelai gasped.
"I called Sherry," Rory nodded, "I told her everything. We came up with a plan to get Dad home. She's going to pretend that she and Gigi are going to follow him on a later plane. But all that is going to happen is going to be the police and I will be waiting for him."
Luke exhaled a deep breath, "Rory, no."
Rory shook her head, "Luke, I love you. You have spent just over a decade now taking care of Mom and me. I've thought it, I haven't said it enough though, I love you like a father. No, like a Dad! The guy that shows up, fixes things around my house, who built me a bookshelves, who took me to the Father Daughter Valentine's Day dance,"
"Yeah, but Rory,"
"Who was there when I got chicken pox and would only eat mashed potatoes for a week, or when I graduated high school, or started college? Who moved her mattress into my dorm, and out of her dorm and back into my dorm again?" Rory asked.
Lorelai and Luke were smiling through their tears as they listened to Rory say the words that he yelled at Chris just two years ago but it seemed like forever.
Luke had tears spilling cheeks, his attempt to stay strong failing miserably. He was in shock that Rory seemed to love him the way that he loved her. He couldn't believe that she would call the police on her father to protect him.
Rory grabbed her coat, and turned to look at Luke in the hospital bed and Lorelai standing beside him, it was clear they were in shock at her decision and insistence to bring Christopher to justice. "I will be back in a few hours," she smiled. "I'll bring you both some more clothes and food. I love you both." With that she was out the door.

This all started on a friday night and Lorelai couldn't believe that it was only Monday afternoon. Two days, it had only been two days but she felt like she had lived through six months worth of trauma. It was a huge contrast to the two days she had spent held up in Luke's apartment reconciling. The days with Luke were happy and quiet and so much fun. These days were filled with beeps and so many voices. All the Stars Hollow crew had either popped by for a visit, made a phone call, or sent their love through those that made the visits.
Lorelia was running between Luke on the 9th floor and 4th floor where her father was settled. She would take her Mom and Dad food from Sookie and give her Mom breaks to make calls or to walk outside and get a breath of fresh air. Emily even took a few moments to visit Luke.
There was a soft knock at the door at a time when Luke was finally alone. Between Lorelai and Liz, Luke's moments of privacy were practically non-existent. But as was raised to do, he kept being the gracious host. "Come in," he called. His poker face was completely gone when he laid eyes on Emily Gilmore. "Mrs. Gilmore," was all he could say.
"I think we're at the point where you should be calling me Emily. Is now a good time?"
Luke was trying to hide his confusion as to why she would be there, "Sure. I just got off the phone with my daughter in New Mexico."
"I hope she's doing well," Emily smiled. "I came here to thank you and to apologize."
"Um."
"These last two days, I've heard a lot of stories. Stories about you and how you have helped my girls over the years. From everything that I heard it sounds like the three of you are already a family. I feel like I was given a real glimpse into the life Lorelai has always kept away from me. It almost made me want to move to Stars Hollow."
Luke started to choke.
Emily chuckled,"Don't worry, I said ALMOST."
The two finally shared a laugh together.
"Emily, if you could just give me a moment I need to call a nurse."
Concern washed over Emily's expression, "Are you feeling okay?"
"I think I'm having some weird reaction to the medication. It sounds like you are about to say something like you approve of Lorelai and I being together."
Emily playfully slapped Luke's arm, "Very funny. No wonder you get along so well with my daughter. You know that Lorelai and I spent many years not speaking, we've then spent the better part of a decade trying to repair our relationship. You have been the biggest stumbling block to that."
"No, Emily. I have always encouraged Lorelai to -"
"Oh no. I mean that Because of you Lorelai and I have fought. At first because I thought you were having a relationship with her and she was keeping it a secret and then because when she was having a relationship with you I was too set in my ways to see you as anything other than a blue collar worker."
Luke smirked and nodded silently.
"Apparently Richard had a nice talk with Lorelai and she knows that you two have his blessing to move forward with your future together. Well, I thought after the incident I caused a few years ago, that I owed it to you to tell you in person that I was wrong."
Luke inhaled a deep breath and sighed, "Emily, I appreciate you coming to me like this, and I'm sorry for any times I may have been disrespectful. I think the best thing for everyone is for all of us to move forward with a fresh start."
Emily nodded slightly. "Just promise me one thing."
"Shoot."
"You start attending Friday night dinners more often. I know with the diner it won't always be possible."
Luke held his hand up and interrupted her, "I will make more of an effort to be there."
Emily smiled, "I'll let you rest now. But one more thing, if you ever hurt Lorelai I'll kill you." And then she was gone.
Luke leaned back against his pillows when Emily left, "Lorelai was right, this does feel like The Twilight Zone."
