"Ay que lindo," gasped Luz as she got her first look at the small dog-like demon with a skull head and single broken horn, and with a speed no one expected Luz had the little demon held lovingly in her arms as she proceed to give him little kisses and bell scratches.
"AAAAAA. I don't know who you are, but unhand me… beast… … oh that actually feels nice… ugh… a little to the left… oh ya," the demon screamed before slowly melting into the affection.
Eda laughed, "I guess I'll handle the introductions. Luz this is King my… oh screw it… he's my adopted son of sorts. King, this is Luz, Camila's daughter and my new apprentice."
King squirmed himself free before looking back at Luz pensive, "I see. My war general has taken on a new soldier… Yes, I could use this, and she's human. This could be very useful."
"No King. I know what you're thinking, and we aren't going to risk my…" Eda started before suddenly stopping at realizing what she was going to say, and catching herself before she continued, "... My apprentice. It probably wouldn't work anyway. Only a human could get past the old barrier, and Luz is most likely just as magical as she is human, meaning it would be at best a fifty/fifty chance. Not to mention they moved where they store the confiscated items to a new room after last time, and we still don't know exactly where it is. We will get your crown back I promise." Eda groaned, "Ok kids, I think that's enough for tonight. This mama is tired, and I'm a sleepy little owl so King take Luz to her room in the tower so she can make herself comfortable."
Luz's eyes widened, "I get my own tower. That's so cool."
Eda let out a tired snort, "What? Were you expecting a closet and sleeping bag? Ha. Camila would beat me with la Chancla… again… if I tried that."
As Eda made her way up to her nest, King was leading Luz to the tower out back. The tower looked old, but with the exception of the top it looked to be in fairly good shape. As the duo entered Luz found herself looking at an unusual room with one side looking like a fairly complicated alchemy/chemistry setup, and the other side a small training space with a few wooden plain staves and swords. King made no comments about any of it, and just walked over to the stairs that began along one side of the room and curved around up into the second floor. The second floor seemed very empty by comparison to the first floor, and the Owl House. The only furniture was a single crystal ball on a beaten up table, a couch that looked somehow more weathered than the one in the house, and three bookcases that held only a couple dozen books. Once more King made no comments about the room, and only kept his steady pace as he started up the next flight of stairs. As Luz looked at the third floor she felt overwhelmed by what she saw. Luz had always loved her twin bunk bed setup, but seeing the queen size before her Luz knew she would never be able to go back. Against one wall was an obsidian colored wardrobe, desk with multiple drawers, and a bedside table. Unlike everything else Luz had seen since coming to the Boiling Isles everything in this room looked new and clean. Opposite the bed was a broken half-wall that seemed to function as a window, and Luz couldn't help thinking that if she ever learned to fly like Azura or Cynthia Coven it could made a nice entryway so she didn't always have to walk up two flights of stairs to get to her room. With a little work Luz was sure she could even make a little porch/landing outside it if she wanted. In a daze Luz ran her hand over the surprisingly soft dark purple bed sheet and feather pillows that she found already awaiting her on her new bed. With the beginning of tears in her eyes Luz dropped her bag and flung herself onto the bed, finding it the most comfortable thing she had ever slept on other than that time she had gotten sick and her mami had let her curl up next to her on the couch.
When she felt a shift in the bed and realized that King had been napping at the foot of her bed since they arrived, Luz also noticed that it was now the middle of the night, and Luz could see the beauty of the stars through her new 'window'. As Luz watched King try to sneak away she couldn't help grinning at how cute the little demon was, and said warmly, "Where are you going little buddy? Beds plenty big enough if you want to keep up this sleepover."
King went rigid and let out a little "Weh" at the sound of the 'humans' voice before he slowly turned around, and sighed, "I have to go get my crown back… It's precious to me, and I can't take the chance that it could get lost forever. Please, I know we just met, but don't tell Eda."
King tried to give Luz his best puppy dog eyes, and Luz seemed to give his request a lot of thought before she chirped, "Nope" making King's whole demeanor seem to deflate in disappointment, but that only made Luz let out a chuckle. "I think you misunderstood me. I'm not going to tell Eda." King's head rose in shock as he felt hope well up inside him again. "But you're also not going after your crown alone… I'm going with you." Luz chirped again. "King, what kind of apprentice would I be if I let my mentor's son run off into danger alone." Then Luz's attitude shifted as she started awkwardly scratching the back of her head, "I also really want to be friends ya know, and I'd be a pretty terrible friend if I let you get hurt when I could have prevented it."
King just looked at the girl for a moment before he gave her a small smile, "Ok Luz. I hereby promote you to minion so let's go have us a quest to reclaim my crown."
Luz gave King a little bow as she said, "As you wish my King." The action made them both laugh as King scampered up Luz's back to use her hood as a seat, but unintentionally made Luz let out a little gasp of pain as he touched her sore shoulder blades making him apologize, but Luz insisted it was fine. "Just be a little more careful next time. Ok buddy? That reminds me. Maybe I should have Eda look me over when we get back since mami never got the chance? Heck there might even be a magical solution she can give me cuz I kinda hurt all over, and it sucks." Without any more distractions the duo left the tower, and King started leading Luz to where they needed to go.
To their surprise it only took them a few hours to reach the hill that overlooked the Conformatorium, and Luz only felt slightly winded from the long run. Luz didn't mention it, but inside she had to admit it was weird, and she kind of loved it. Something about the Isles just made her feel super charged, and she thought to herself that she could definitely get used to feeling this good. For the next fifteen to twenty minutes they watched as the guards made their circuits around the fortresses courtyard, and when Luz started getting nervous at the number of them King reassured her that since it was still early morning there wouldn't probably be that many guards beyond the ones they were seeing, and with a small chuckle he pointed out two of the guards as they managed to walk into each other in their exhaustion resulting in Luz giving him a thankful hug as they were getting up to start their approach.
As the pair made their way down the first flight of stairs after slipping past the exterior guards Luz couldn't help feeling a little embarrassed for them. Like clearly they were super smooth and spy-like, but it was still kinda sad that a teenage girl and her 'dog/bestie' managed to slip by them without the slightest issue. After another four flights the duo finally reached the bottom floor where they found what looked more like cages then cells with a couple glowing sigils and runes all over them. Each cage had a roman numeral below them from one to six, but only four were occupied. The beings in cages one, four, and five had yellow/cream colored skin while three had a more burgundy coloring to them. Each of them had different hair colors with One being black, Three being brown, four being more of a dirty blond, and Five being blue. All four had a serpentine body with a pair of arms ending in five clawed fingers, and varied in size with One being the biggest at around fifteen feet tall and Five being just slightly shorter than Luz. As the duo tried to quietly make their way through the room they were stopped when Five reached out to them with tears in her eyes.
"Please, you don't look or smell like one of the guards. I don't know who you are, but please let us out. I-I heard one of them talking earlier, and they are going to kill us later today," Five cried. "Please, I don't want to die. I'm scared."
Luz looked into her eyes for a moment before straightening her back with a decision made, "We might need your help finding what we came for, but first what is your name, and how do I free you?"
Five's eyes lit up with hope as she walked Luz through unlocking her cage, and the new trio silently made their way through the rest of the room, and down the hall where they found a large circular room with a single being sitting at its center all or its limbs and throat bound in magical chains. He looked like a boy about sixteen to eighteen with ragged clothes and long red hair and the beginnings of a beard. As Luz went to get a closer look she found herself caught by the arm by Five as she pointed to the various rings and hundreds of small runes that apparently functioned as his cage.
"Don't worry young one. Do whatever you came here to do, and forget you ever saw me. If you stick to the edge of the room they should have no idea that you were ever here," croaked the boy, his voice sounding incredibly dry, and ancient, but undoubtedly still strong while never feeling intimidating.
Five let out a little squeak of recognition, "You're the one who whispered to us in the dark. You told us stories, and told us everything would be ok. Some of us thought you were a ghost or some cruel prank to keep us alive, but you're real." Five got very sheepish and started ringing her hands as she said, "Thank you. I don't know if I could have held out this long without you… Are you sure there's nothing I can do to pay you back? Maybe we can free you on our way back?"
The boy smiled at Five, but before he answered his eyes seemed drawn to Luz for a moment, and after some small mental debate that seemed to play in his head he said, "Perhaps. Normally I would turn down your offer, but maybe you could do it. For now, tell me. What do you seek?"
King spoke up, "Where do they keep all of the stuff they steal from people?"
The boy laughed, and pointed to a door to his left, "Through there, but only one of you has any hope of getting past the barrier. Are you ready to do what you need to do?" The trio nodded which made the boy smile again. "Alright then, good luck."
With careful and confident steps the trio made their way to the door they were directed to, and they walked in. Inside they found another circular room, but this one had what looked like a bowled hole at its center, and while the room contained a number of torches along its walls they weren't what primarily lit up the room. Shining down around the center space was a golden shield wall that seemed to flow downward like a cascade of energy. With a nod to King Luz tried to force herself through, but the energy burned and its flow was too strong for her to completely force her way through. After a minute of trying Luz had to back away, King looking dejected and Luz's hand still smoking, but then Five started taking and releasing ever bigger breaths until she finally started to suck in as much air as she could, and to her companions surprise streams of energy started to be pulled from the barrier making it start to flicker until it finally dispersed leaving Five exhausted and shaking in Luz's arms. While Luz held Five up and helped her steady herself King rushed forward, and started searching for his crown. It took a couple minutes for Five to steady herself again, but when they were confident that she was able to walk again they looked over at where King disappeared only to see him scampering back with an obviously homemade crown on his head. It wasn't the prettiest thing Luz had ever seen. The crown appeared to be made of a few straightened and rebent wire clothes hangers covered with gold paint, and adorned with a few colored rocks instead of gems, but Luz couldn't bring herself to chastise her friend over it after seeing the genuine joy and love he clearly had for it.
As the trio turned to leave they found the door blocked by a quartet of guards in cloaks and plague masks. "In the name of Emperor Belos, you three are under arrest. Surrender now and we promise to only hurt you a little," yelled one of the scouts. When the trio didn't surrender, mostly because they were too stunned to move, the quartet attacked. While each of the girls found themselves forced to dodge attack after attack from one scout each, King was under assault from the remaining two. Thinking fast King managed to scamper up one of their legs and begin slamming his little paws into the scouts head, making them buck and thrash to try to dislodge him. Once more showing their poor training, the remaining scout tried to use a blast of magic to knock King away, but only succeeded in knocking his fellow scout out when he missed, and in the process caused the unconscious scouts staff to go flying toward Luz. On instinct Luz scooped up her new staff, and found it surprisingly natural in her hands so much so that within moments of picking it up Luz had her opponents knocked out as well. Five wasn't having as much luck until she felt her back hit the wall and out of fear she burped up a magic blast from the barrier earlier catching her opponent off guard, and out of the fight. Seeing all of his fellow scouts down and out the remaining scout did the first smart thing any of them had done since they arrived; he ran away to get more backup.
Knowing that stealth was no longer an option the trio exited the contraband room only to find the smiling and laughing boy still waiting for them. "I see you've kicked the firebee hive now. Hahaha. Don't worry about me, just get out of her kids. I haven't laughed like this in years so go live your lives."
Luz walked to the edge of the circles defiantly as she said, "Not without you. So what do I do? Or does Five have to eat the magic to release you?"
The boy looked stern for a moment, "She must never try that. This kind of magic would overwhelm her at best, and poison her more likely. No little hybrid, if you insist on helping me it's something we are going to have to do alone. In the meantime I want the rest of you to go free the other basilisks, and tell them to pull the master release switch so they can fade into the crowd when everyone else escapes." With a nod both King and Five rushed off to do as they were told. "Now I know you can feel the magic in the air. There should be a slightly cracked rune on the floor to your right. When I give the signal I want you to focus on that spot as hard as you can, and try to exert as much force into that spot as you can. The ambient magic should do the rest." Before Luz could respond the room started getting increasingly hot as a red and gold flame burst to life around the boy, and began to grow. The first few rows of circles and runes began to smoke and evaporate. After a few seconds of ever increasing heat Luz heard a beastly roar/screech of, "Now', and with all the focus she could muster Luz shot her hand forward into the place he described and released everything she had into that spot. There was an explosion of force followed by a rumbling sound like the earth was sundering around her, and in a flash of light Luz was thrown back into the wall only to be awoken by someone patting her on the shoulder.
"You did good kid. Honestly I didn't expect you to pack that much of a punch. Now let's get out of here," the boy said as his form shifted into a wolf big enough for all three of the kids to have comfortably rode. Being very careful to not hurt her, the boy turned wolf gingerly picked her up by her hood and placed her on his back before starting to run toward the exit. As they ran he introduced himself, "Better late than never, but names Fenris. Sorry about having to go through all that, but I promise if you need anything just give me a call. It's not everyday I meet someone like you, and after freeing me from that cage I've been stuck in for two hundred years I think I still owe you more than one favor." With a throaty chuckle Fenris said, "After all, if we don't look after each other, no one else will." It only took them one flight of stairs before they caught back up with King and Five, and without breaking stride Fenris scooped them up and deposited them on his back with Luz. Luckily for them they didn't run into any problems as they made their way out, but as soon as they exited the foursome found themselves in a warzone as One, some of the other escaped prisoners, and surprisingly Eda where doing their best to rip and tear their way either free or toward the building. For the most part they were only being held back due to numbers, but as Luz and her friends watched they saw a pair of figures moving through the crowd slowly whittling away at the rioters. They looked like a fairly bulky demon man, from the sound of his roars, with tentacle-like arms that changed from axes to clubs, and to any other melee weapons he required, while a smaller female demon with red skin and hand-like hair laughed and fired blasts of magic from his shoulder.
Unfortunately for Luz and her friends the duo spotted them soon after, and started to stomp their way towards them. Once they got close enough they heard the small one let out a cruel laugh as she said, "Look what we found my Wrath. The little intruding rats decided to scurry out finally. What do you say my hunky torturer, I think they will make a great gift for Lord Belos."
Wrath just let out an excited chuckle as he said, "Oh Kiki, my little goddess of pain, you come up with the best ideas. I just hope he isn't bothered by them getting a little roughed up in the process." Without any other comment Wrath started swinging one of his whip-like limbs while Kikimora fired smaller blasts of magic to force Fenris to divide his attention leading to Wrath getting a lucky shot, and catching Fenris in his side knocking him away and scattering his riders.
With another sinister laugh Kiki pointed at Five and said, "Look at the honey. One of the basilisks is trying to escape too. I know we weren't supposed to skin them yet, but I'm sure the Emperor can overlook the loss of one given the circumstances. Let's burn it to a crisp." Answering only with more sadistic giggles, Wrath grabbed Kiki and placed her back to his chest while he buried his feet into the ground for added stability. Once he was ready Kiki used both hands to draw a large spell circle before forcing it into a smaller ring that started to almost burn an angry red from compressed power, before forcing all that power into a blast directed specifically at Five.
For a moment everything froze around Luz, and without thinking she threw herself in the way of the blast, and for a moment she swore she felt her heart stop, but then there was pain. It started in her chest as the blast caught her there causing an intense burning pain to build and begin to flow through her like her blood was boiling. Then there was the pain in her back as she slammed into a wall, but more than that it felt like her back was being torn open at her shoulder blades. Finally as she landed on the ground she thought she must have cut herself as she could feel the knots rupture and slightly bleed, but then the pain stopped and Luz felt an immense power flow through her like never before.
All around the courtyard the fighting slowed as everyone present saw a new glowing figure rise and seem to float midair with radiant brown and gold wings upon her head sat a pair of two inch black horns with a glowing ring of gold floating near there tips, and her eyes looked like black pools with the purest luminous golden lights within with a mighty roar the figure summoned a flickering white fireball the size of a basketball and forced it in the direction of the still stunned demon duo only for a black spell circle to form before it, and as the fireball went through it seemed to pick up motes of darkness and smoke that followed it like the tail on a comet. As it collided with the duo it seemed like they would be able to withstand the blast, but that lasted for only a split second as they were sent flying through the walls of the courtyard and deep into the surrounding forest for what could only be assumed to be miles. With the duo gone the figure seemed to almost crumple and fall to the ground no longer able to defy gravity's pull any longer completely unconscious, but it had been enough. With their leaders sent flying, and the rioters morale positively bursting the scouts had no choice but to retreat with what few captives they could, including One sadly, but with everyone scattering into the forest and their own safety there wasn't anything those remaining could really do to stop them.
When Luz woke up again she found herself face down in her pillows, and sore, but thankfully not nearly as sore as she had been recently. She did feel weird though. Her back and head felt heavy, and she could have sworn she now had fangs, but then she felt someone holding her hand. When she turned to look, Luz found a girl with a similar skin tone to her own, and familiar blue hair. Luz knew this must be Five under some kind of enchantment so Luz just smiled at the girl as she let out a small, "Good morning" making the girl jump before her face positively beamed.
Five quickly rushed over to the stairs where she let out a happy yell of, "She's finally awake," followed by Eda's gray mane positively flying up the stairs and to her 'apprentice' to wrap her in a warm hug.
To Luz's surprise she thought she saw the older woman shed a few tears before she pulled herself back, and smacked her upside the head. "What in the name of Tartarus were you thinking kid? Actually I don't care. Never do anything like that to me again, ya hear. You had me terrified." Eda then pulled Luz into another hug.
After another few minutes Fenris's head popped up over the lip of the floor as he smiled faintly, and let out a sigh as he said, "Ok Eda now that she's awake it's time for that conversation we talked about." Eda just looked at him with a look of hate, terror, and a bit of shame, but Fenris continued, "Ya ya, I know. Scary Owl lady face notwithstanding you have to admit, Luz deserves answers, and I might be the only being alive who can try to give them. So suck it up, and be a guardian Edalyn. Now scoop up Luz and bring her to the couch." With that Fenris disappeared back down the stairs.
Eda tried to scoop up Luz, but despite how tired she felt Luz insisted on walking only to find herself a good six inches taller than she remembered, and when she turned she managed to smack Eda with her wings… since when did she have wings? With Eda and Five's help Luz made her way down to the couch where she found Fenris and a very dejected King who refused to look at Luz, making her feel like she must have done something wrong, and Luz only felt herself get more tired. "Ok Fenris. What's this conversation you think we need to have," asked Luz.
"Well Luz there is a lot that you should be made aware of before they lead to issues in the future, and it's sadly only a fraction of what I wish I could tell you, but I'll do my best," stated Fenris. "Firstly, so that you understand that I'm not being obtuse or cryptic because I want to be, I'll explain the most annoying part of all this as best I can. While I was imprisoned I was forced to make a number of oaths. Thankfully nothing that would force me to betray or attack anyone against my will, but I can't teach or tell anyone anything that they haven't already started to suspect on their own. Case in point I can't teach you a fire spell, but once you learn one I can help you master it and perfect it without any issues, and even help guide you toward greater versions subtly. Another example would be if I knew Belos's plans for the future I would be forced to stay silent about them until such time as someone in my vicinity caught on to them, at which time I would be free to confirm or deny what they thought. Understood?" stated Fenris.
Eda asked offhandedly, "How many oaths?"
"Ninety-six," answered Fenris flatly. "And It's going to take a ridiculous amount of time to break each one without triggering them," he groaned.
"Dam, and what happens if you do trigger one?" asked Five.
"Depends on which one. Most physically prevent me from speaking if I try so they aren't much more than annoying, but others… let's just say if I didn't have some of my more unique abilities they would be very fatal," sighed Fenris. Once everyone finished taking in that unpleasant thought Fenris continued, "Ok so as Five… hun did you ever decide on a name for yourself. I feel kinda dirty referring to you by your experiment number. You're a living being and should be referred to as such."
Five blushed before saying, "I did actually. You can call me Victoria or Vee from now on, please."
Everyone gave her a warm smile before Fenris began again, "So as Vee can attest, I have quite a bit of talent when it comes to oracle magic, and while I spent the last couple days recovering some of my strength. I also used those talents to get a better understanding of what's going on, and I can at least partially answer the biggest question in the room, and how it happened, but some of us aren't going to like some of the other secrets that will have to be shared in the process. I can tell you three of the four components that you are made of Luz, most of what you are genetically, but only if both you and Eda agree to it. Eda it's going to be rough, but I can put an end to the question that's been bothering you the last eleven years. Are you ready?"
Eda and Luz share a look before Luz takes her mentor's hand. "No matter what we learn, I promise that I'm not going anywhere. Repeat after me, 'We can do this together', ok?"
Eda smiled, "Ya, we can do this together kiddo. Ok Fen, give it to us straight."
Fenris gave them both a smile, "Ok so you're familiar with everything that happened up until you started brewing the birthing potion so I'll get to the point. Sorry Eda, your curse did contaminate it with both the beast's demon essence and your witch essence, so congratulations you two you're actually mother and daughter. I'm sure Camila will be pleased. Might finally get her to accept your proposal, but what do I know I'm only a couple thousand year old demon."
Eda and Luz just sat there stunned until Eda croaked out, "What about my curse? Does she have it too?"
Fenris snorted, "No, she does not carry your curse. She does have feathery genes though if that wasn't obvious from her wings. As a side note once you finish recovering Luz I'll give you a crash course on summoning them when you need them and sending them away when you don't, on top of some basic flying lessons so you can use them a bit." Luz put her head in her hands, but froze when she felt her horns, and she began to panic. Fenris saw this and sighed, "I'm guessing no one has told you about the changes that occurred during your witch puberty spurt… I get all the worst jobs. Ok so luckily you shouldn't have to worry about any other changes from your demon or witch puberties, and with your powers completely free of repression…" Fenris shot Eda a disapproving glare, "You shouldn't have any more painful spurts except for the normal human ones, but by comparison I've heard those happen over years and aren't nearly as painful. Honestly you probably hit the proverbial jackpot with the traits you did get. A pair of stylish fangs and horns, retractable claws, and fully functional wings. It could be a lot worse. You didn't get the light sensitivity or full set of feathers from the owl beast, and only a slight point to your ears so as long as you hide the horns walking around the human realm shouldn't be too difficult. You have the combined magical capabilities of all of your magical components so your magic is first class despite the fact that as a human you shouldn't have any at all."
Luz seemed to think on that for a moment, before putting on her best smile and letting out a little, "I guess you have a point."
Eda pulled Luz into another hug, "Remember, we will get through this together. Right kiddo?"
Luz looked up and gave her a misty smile as she said, "Ya you're right… Mom." Which only made Eda hold her closer if only to keep Luz from seeing her tear up at Luz calling her that.
The rest of their group conversation was mostly just basic info sharing like explaining about what Vee is and making a plan for her care. Luz was adamant that Vee could stay with her as long as she wants, and even put forward that since nobody knows her yet they can just say Vee is her little sister if anyone gets too nosey. A suggestion that made Vee rush over and hug her new 'sister'. Much to Eda's dismay they did have to discuss her curse, but Fenris actually had a few ideas for some herbs and such that could help. Lastly Fenris pulled out a small charm with an odd design of a beast with three heads, a bird, a wolf, and a dragon, and handed it to Luz. "I'm only going to crash until you get yourself up and running again. After that, if you need me for something grab this charm, and give me the gist. If I can help I'll come running, but I can't fight your battles for you, and your mom is more than capable of teaching you both witch magic and melee weapons. As for your other magics I might be able to nudge you a bit from time to time, but you're a smart girl I think you will be fine on your own." After that everyone left to do their own things except for Luz and King.
Once everyone was gone King dragged himself over next to Luz and gave her a very wet hug as he cried catching Luz off guard. "It's ok buddy. What's got you so upset? I promise whatever it is I'll try to help," said Luz tenderly as she wrapped her arms around the little tyrant.
Unfortunately her words seemed to only make him cry harder as he gasped out, "I'm so sorry Luz. We should have never gone off on our own. I-I almost got my big sister killed before we could even really get to know each other, and all for some stupid crown that Mom made for me."
"Eda made that crown for you?" asked Luz in surprise.
"Ya. After my first one got destroyed during one of our… projects. I just felt so crushed. After all, what kind of king doesn't have a crown, and Eda saw how upset I was so she made me a new one. I love my crown, but… I never should have risked your life over it. I'm so sorry Luz," cried King.
But Luz just looked down at him and gave him another hug, "Don't sweat it little bro. I know how important a gift from your parent can be. I still keep my first Azura book in perfect condition, and not just because I love the series, but because when Mami gave it to me it felt like it was the first time she really understood me." Luz booped King's nose, "Don't worry about what could have been, and focus on what is. If it wasn't for you we might never have found out we were family, and I would do it all again if it meant I could keep you safe and happy. I might be new to being a big sister, but I already decided that I'll always be there for you, and you're just going to have to get used to it mi lindo hermanito (my cute little brother)." Luz then started to tickle him until her couldn't breathe. "I love you little bro."
King smiled, "I love you too big sis. Now let us go conquer the kitchen like proper royals. What do you say Luz, Queen of Witches?"
"Sure thing my little King of Demons," smiled Luz as they made there way off to the kitchen to find something to eat.
Author Notes: ok so time for some fun facts and clearing up a few things, and I'll start from the top. Yes Eda has already adopted King in this au. I guess the shock of finding out she might be a parent already softened Eda a bit earlier than in canon. Yes the fact that Luz has her own space outside of the Owl House will become very important, and change some things going forward. Also the fact that Eda actually bought new furniture for Luz's room should say a lot since everything else she owns is either handmade or scavaged, and fun fact yes Eda used her own discarded feathers to make Luz's pillows. Owlets often cuddle up into there parents feathers for warmth and reassurance, and those pillows are Eda's way of doing something similar while also giving her space. It's cute, sue me. For the record, yes Fenris is a personal Oc, and exists in every story I write. He just isn't always relevant, and he's a background character and occasional mentor when necessary, nothing more. These might be my stories but there Luz's journeys if you get where I'm coming from. Lastly, I've hinted at what the other magical component that makes up Luz is, but it won't be stated outright for a while, I think. Feel free to shoot me a pm if you think you know, cookies for right answers, but I digress now that most of the cards are on the table I can focus on developing the character relationships and introducing everyone's favorite band of Hexside misfits. There may even be some unexpected shifts in a few that radically change how they act, but that's for next time. Until then have a great day.
