CHAPTER 31

Jack woke up, with his precious jewel wrapped in his arms. His wife was sleeping peacefully, with her head on his chest, her beautiful hair falling down her body, a white sheet thrown over her back, but leaving almost all of her upper part on display. He couldn't stop staring, it was an intoxicating sight. Her shapely legs were wrapped around his legs, her palm resting next to his face on top of my chest. It was a feeling of peace and love; being with that woman, and having her in your arms like this, so surrendered, so innocent; she slept on him, and there she reposed a trust, as if she knew he would do anything to protect her. His wife was a gift from God. She was snuggled up against him, looking like a sly kitten; Jack wrapped his arms around her and pulled her closer, hearing her little moan. He knew she hated waking up early, in those few days together, they got to know each other and could see what they liked. But Elizabeth didn't have a single defect... Well... other than not being an early riser. And Jack, smiling, had plans to see his wife waking up at dawn, and so his hands began a tour of her back, throwing that sheet. He hoped she would wake up quickly, because that move wasn't going well, and just looking at her, and feeling the heat of her back against his fingers, was making his self-control slip away. He was going crazy...

She smiled softly into his chest; that naughty girl had woken up and had already realized that her husband was falling into his own trap. And so, with great affection, they started the day...

Jack was powerless, he had no words to describe what had just happened there in that bed. "THIS WIFE OF YOURS WOULD KILL HIM," thought Jack; He held her hands, at the exact moment, he couldn't do anything else, but he noticed that she was also having the same problem. They smiled, knowing what the other was thinking. It was intense, it was wonderful; Every day, they completed each other more and more.

They knew that the love between them was very great.

— Jack! Me and...

Jack, noticing a tone of insecurity in his wife's voice, became alarmed. In all their time together, she never seemed insecure.

"Bella!" Talk to me, my love. What are you worried about?

— What if Charles is waiting for me when we get back to our house?

— If Charles is there, my dear. Rest assured that I will take care of him, I will protect you and I will not allow him to do you any harm.

— What if my father... She choked.

Jack didn't like seeing his wife scared. She faced pinkerson, had guns to her head, and even went into the coal mine, and now she's terrified because of her father and Charles... He didn't like that, didn't like to see her scared.

"Love, let's not borrow problems before their time. If your father appears, he will have to talk to your husband; plus you still have Bill, and new guardian and foster parent.

"Jack? ...Can I tell you a secret? Elizabeth sat on the bed, wrapped the sheet around her body and looked down as she waited for her husband to respond.

Whatever it was, Jack noticed it was something that bothered her a lot.

— Bella; you can tell me anything, i will always be here for you.

And so, she started telling everything, from her friendship with Charles, which, as they always said, their friendship started in the nursery. About his father and mother being strict and lifelong restricting and handpicking his friends and his sisters. She told about her uncles and her cousin Frankison.

"Jack, since I was a little girl, Frankison was my world. He was my Hero, I can't explain why, but he was always the most important person in my life. Maybe because we were both born on the same day, at the same time, practically, and in the same house. I don't know how to explain it, but we've always had such a great connection. When I was growing up, my best gift was the month of Uncle Wynn's visit, because I knew Frankison would be with me... he was something... I'll try to explain it to you Jack, and the right word to describe it is that I idolized him. I was and still am proud of his every achievement. When I turned eleven, my mother got into a fight with Aunt Elizabeth. And so he told about Frankison's twin sister, who had died in childbirth when they were born, and how everyone's fight and distance went. I'm only telling you this because... Jack, would you let me continue to have contact with them through letters? And lowering her head she looked at trembling hands.

Jack noticed that she suffered from that detachment. Like her parents, they didn't notice the lack that this young man and this family made in their Bella's life.

It was strange, thought Jack "AT NO TIME DO I FEEL JEALOUS OF THIS BOY, I THINK I ALREADY LIKE HIM A LOT."

"Bella!" What I want most in life is to see you happy. I want you to keep in touch with them, and who knows, maybe we can visit them or invite them to come to Hope Valle, I don't know what their work is like, but maybe on our vacation, we can go see them and I can get to know them. them. "Jack, they'll love it and I'll love it even more." Ha... I didn't tell you a thing Jack; they are mountie like you... And my aunt is a teacher, that's why I wanted to follow the profession.

"And you are an excellent teacher, my love. Those students love you very much.

She smiled, her cheeks turning red... but was interrupted by Jack:

"Bella, you're changing the subject, but so far you haven't explained to me why you're afraid of Charles."

— I don't know Jack, when I was fifteen, at the end of my debutante party, he grabbed me and kissed me forcibly; I cried a lot, ran and from then on I started to be afraid of him. He apologized but started to get more insistent and my parents always supported him with my sisters. It's just that Jack... It's just that when he looks at me, at certain times, he gives me goosebumps, I don't know what it is, but I'm really scared. And another thing...

Jack held her hands, and asked to tell everything. He would always be with her.

- My father. I'm afraid of him. Some time ago, I started to see some strange looks from him. If it weren't for my dad, I could say it's a man's look... which I don't even like to think about; and he whenever he's with Charles, they make plans, they talk low and they always look at me… it's a look that terrifies me. And it makes my blood run cold.

"No one, but no one, is going to make you afraid; I am now by your side, and I will not allow them to do anything to you.

Jack, in silence, kept all that information, there was something wrong there and Bill needed to know. Jack hoped he was wrong, but he felt a shiver run down his spine.
