Chapter 6

It had been three days since I got back from the skywing palace. I was laying on the ground. The chains on my wrists and ankles made it hard to move around much.

"Hey Dewdrop!" I turned toward the doorway. "Time to eat!" Sandstone said, holding a camel. She walked over and unlocked my muzzle, taking it off.

I took a bite of the camel's side. "Thanks." I mumbled.

"You're welcome!" She said sweetly. She was always so happy. It was weird. As I took another bite, Sandstone whispered, "I'm breaking you out tonight."

I stopped. I slowly raised my head and looked at her. "But how?" I asked.

"Shush!" She hissed. "I don't want Flower to hear!" I looked at her like she was crazy.

"What kind of dragon is named Flower?" I giggled. It was the funniest thing I ever heard in a long time. All of sudden, we heard the sound of running.

"She's not a dragon." She groaned. The running soon turned into a pit pat. Soon a little scavenger ran in. She had the fluffiest hair I had ever seen. It was my first time seeing a scavenger. I was only taught about scavengers from Burn. She told me they were ugly, cold, and heartless little creatures. But she didn't tell me they were cute. What else had she lied about?

"You were scared of a little scavenger hearing us?" I laughed.

"You wouldn't be laughing if you knew who she was." She chuckled.

"Oh yah? Who?" I chuckled.

"She is one of the scavengers that killed Queen Oasis." She said.

I froze. "Oh." I said, as I sat up straight. Again, I knew the ring around my eye threw me off.

"Huh, I thought you would be scared. Why are you sad?" She said, concerned.

"Well, I'd be with my family if this war never happened." I said, bitterly.

Then I looked at Flower. "But you're cute, I can't stay mad." I half lied. She was cute, but I was mad about this war.

"Well, um, see you tonight, come Flower." She said, coaxing Flower to come to her. Flower followed Sandstone out of the room. I laid on the ground. I thought of my parents. Then I cried myself to sleep.
