Chapter 8
"Pst! Dewdrop!" I opened my eyes. It was dark. "Wake up! We don't have much time! Burn is awake as well!" It was Sandstone.
"I'm up!" I whispered as I stood up.
"Uh-oh," Sandstone whispered.
"What?" I asked.
"I'm such a camel-turd! I forgot the key to your chains!" She mumbled.
"Don't worry." I said. I had been waiting for a chance to do this. I opened my mouth, spraying venom on the clasp around my wrist. The venom hissed, sizzling. Finally the clasp falls off. I do it to the rest of the chains. "Let's go." I said.
"Follow me!" Sandstone said. We walked out of the room. I followed her out. We walk down the corridor and out the door. We were home free. The sun was rising over the hot sand.
"THE HYBRID HAS ESCAPED!" Cried a guard.
"We've gotta get out of here!" Sandstone yelled.
"But what about the guards and Burn?" I asked.
"Then let's fight our way to freedom." Sandstone said, raising her barbed tail.
"Oh, I'm with you." I said, grinning. A guard came up to me. I jumped on him, spitting venom on his face. He screamed. I held him down, keeping him from attacking me.
"Dewdrop! Look out!" Sandstone screamed. I turned my head. Burn was heading toward me, barb facing me. I ran forward. I felt a prick on my left thigh. I groaned. Burn stabbed me.
"Fly!" I cried. Sandstone and I take off. I look back. The dragons weren't following us. Burn watched as we flew away, grinning.
"Queen Burn, you're letting her go?" I heard a guard ask. "No you camel-dung!" Burn roared. "She was stabbed by my barbed tail. She'll be dead in two days." She cackled.
Sandstone flys closer to the ground, picking up something. I couldn't see. Pain filled my thigh. Sandstone flew up next to me. "We need to land." She exclaimed. She held up a little cactus ball. "I have the antidote but we need to find a healer."
"No, I'll be fine, what we really need is to go far. How far is the Seawing Kingdom?" I gritted.
"About 2 days from now but you won't ma-"
"yes I will." I argued .
"No you won't. We'll stop at Diamond Spray Delta."
"Fine." I groaned. I was already tired.
