Chapter 12
"Hey!" I woke up. "Barnacle, I just got home, can you at least let me sleep!?"
I snickered.
"No, I told you, I have someone I'd like you to meet." Barnacle whined. Then I thought of something. I camouflage my scales, making me look invincible. Then stood by the door and waited. Barnacle walked through. "Just a little further." He said. "Wait, where did she go?" He looked around in confusion. "Dewdrop?" I walked in front of him.
"Yes?" I replied, changing my head scales back to my turquoise self. He cried out, falling back. I laughed as I shook my wings, letting the stars shine on my night sky canvas of wings. "You should've seen your face." I laughed.
"You scared me, I might be scared for life." He said, quivering. I helped him up.
"Everything all right Barnacle?" I looked up. A green seawing with blue gills walked in, yawning.
"Yah, I'm fine. Dewdrop scared me half to death." Barnacle replied. He looked at me. He blinked a couple of times. "Hey Ray, you all right?" Barnacle asked. Ray shook his head.
"Um, Barnacle, could you leave us alone? Just real quick." He said.
Barnacle looked at me then back at his brother. "Ok.." he said, confused. As soon as he walked out of the room, Ray stared at me.
"Tell me," he asked, walking around me. "Have you been in any battles?" He asked.
"Um, Maybe?" I replied. I had been in battle but I don't remember what happened during it. "I don't really remember."
"Ok, and why is that?" I stood there. Should I tell him? Should I tell him why? I stood there, silent. He looked away.
"It all started," I began. He turned towards me. "When I was about one. My mom was a hybrid, ice and sea. And my dad, a tribrid. Mud, night, and rain." Ray sat down as I sat. "One day, my parents told me we were leaving. We flew for hours. Then we stopped to rest. That's when Burn showed up. I watched in horror of what she and her guards did to my parents. I didn't know what to do." I took a shaky breath. "Then she turned to me, and blew fire at me. But I survived. That's when we both found out I was fire-proof. She took this as an advantage. She took me back to her stronghold. There, she trained me to be a weapon of war. But I refused to learn. I was afraid. One day, a green rainwing, Chameleon, showed up. He and Burn talked for a while. Then when they were done, Chameleon came up to me and gave me an earring. He told me he was going to put it in my ear. As soon as he did, everything went blurry." I exhaled a little. My mouth was dry. Then Ray came up to me. He held out a leaf full of water. "Thanks" I croaked. I blushed. Ray just smiled. I could see he was blushing back. "Sorry." I replied after a long drink. "You are the first dragon I've told about my life before."
He just smiled. "And then what happened?"
I sighed "I only remember one day that Scarlet visited and brought a skywing. This happened a couple of moons ago. After Scarlet and Burn talked, Scarlet left, leaving the skywing she brought. That night, that skywing came to me. She was a year younger than me. She wore two square earrings. She was a light orange color, with blue eyes. She told me about herself. Her name was Marigold. She was Scarlet's niece. Her parents died when she was one. Then she told me that I was a stunning dragon, one she had never seen before. Then she gave me one of her earrings. She told me that it would remind me that she was my friend." I pointed to the earring on my ear, next to my ripped part. "Then one day," tears welled up in my eyes. "Burn told me we were going to test me." I sobbed. "The earring Chameleon gave me, controlled me. Whatever Burn told me to do something, I did it." Ray looked at me. I just sobbed.
Ray wrapped me with his wings, pulling me into a hug. "Shush, you don't have to finish." He whispered.
"I killed her.." I sobbed. He pulled me tighter. Then I saw something. I saw Ray and I in this same hug. Two eggs sat in a nest. My tears stopped after it was done. "Thank you." I whispered. And we hugged even more
