Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Southern Hospitality. Enjoy the 5400-word chapter. I don't own Red vs Blue; Rooster Teeth and a few others do.
The pelican shut down all systems besides life support as it neared its target. South, Tenn, and Wyoming all paused to think for by a moment about what they were doing at this time.
"Don't forget this is a team mission," North said as South waved her off.
"Get the job done…" He heard. "We're going in." South heard.
The trio knew they would be dealing with the main force of rebel soldiers while North and York dealt with the reactor.
"This mission kept changing hands," Tenn stated.
"The director didn't know who was going in besides us and York," South stated.
The doors opened and Tenn and South took positions, ready to dive into the void… It was quite clear to them that such a thing was only going to bother them massively.
There was a nod as they floated into it while letting the pelican drift away. They turned in the direction of the station as Tenn turned to South.
"Let's do this," Tenn stated before he sighed and finally let them float towards the station a few seconds later.
He had been too unable to deal with this as he relaxed. He knew each detail of their job was to be harsher and harsher and every little detail of their job was something to try and deal with as he slowly yet surely dragged it out as long and as painfully as possible.
Perhaps he had found some joy in this sort of thing. He knew well he was a good mercenary and his skills were not in question now, all of it blended in ways he could not have allowed.
The two slowly yet surely flew towards where they had to try and figure out what he would be dealt with for now at the end of the day.
It was so terrible, so interested in what would become of it for now and for good reason. Even when they could have dealt with it for now as he clicked his fingers.
They flew through space, all of them knowing what was going on and not allowing them to have to deal with it.
All of it bothered him, all of it was annoying to it… He had a lot more to deal with for now as he sighed and then thought of it at the end of the day.
"Please remember we are here to get the mission done, lads." They heard as they rolled their eyes.
"We're doing what we can to get done," Tenn stated before he sighed to himself.
"We're here to shoot people and get this done," South stated before she sighed. "The more people we take down now? Less damn rebels we must deal with in the future." South stated.
She had said nothing and then looked to Tenn who flew next to her and then looked to the ground with each little moment of time and effort.
He floated into the vapid void, knowing what was going on. He had not been able to figure out what was going on. She had been able to relax. Tenn was silent as she looked over to him and then into the sky.
She knew him as she had known them all. Such things had served her well as she paused, thinking of her next move as she knew what was going on, not at all preparing for what came next.
"You tired?" Tenn asked as he paused, thinking for a moment as he sighed, relaxing. "Because we have some small little things to do… Like kill a lot of people in the way, we both know what is coming our way and we both know how." Tenn stated.
Tenn knew what to see and what to do. There was plenty of gunfire, pain, and destruction coming their way as they flew toward the ship.
It seemed almost like a shark, something that he could only figure was made to seem scared. He was tired, unwilling to try and act as they floated through space with each little step.
They finally appeared on the ship, slowly yet surely pausing to let South catch up as she and he paused to let themselves catch a moment of peace.
"We need to go inside and make sure they are dead. When that is done? Then we get to the next part of the ship." Tenn stated.
"Well, aware… You know we do that better when we kill them, right?" Tenn heard before South rolled her eyes.
"I am aware of that and I need to try and shoot them. Do you know that?" South asked.
Their armored bodies were all he could see and he was not able to properly think, he knew more and more with each second what was going on.
Whatever he could do was lost to the wind… Such a thing was to have to bear. He clicked his fingers as they stopped next to the ship.
He sighed and racked his shotgun before he looked to South as they stopped. He stopped for but a moment, knowing what was going on and not wanting to end it, he knew her over himself.
Perhaps he had been silent, unsure of what the next move was as he cracked his fingers before grabbing onto the metal next to him and finally pulling himself into the ship. He turned to see that South had landed next to him, too quietly thrown off for now and at the end of the mouth.
Perhaps he had more to see and do and perhaps he had misjudged them in a very long and narrow way that he could not possibly have fixed it at all.
Yes, too much had been going on and he had every right to have done so. She looked at Tenn as they slowly and effortlessly boarded the ship, grabbing hold of beams near the airlock and using them to swing themselves into the ship.
Neither of them knew what was growing on the mind, knowing on the mind. She and he were friends but it was clear that such things were not helping.
She watched as the two of them were able to be pulled into the ship. She could not guess what would happen as she only could hope they were on the right path.
"You should know well enough that whatever is going on? We might not be able to leave this ship alive. I just want you to know that." Tenn said before he racked his shotgun, ready to go to work.
"Meaning?" South asked as she grabbed her assault rifle from her back.
"Meaning this deathtrap is going to get harder the closer we get through to the bridge," Tenn said as he paused and then slowly started to go closer and closer to the door.
He watched as it slid open. He hummed as they took advantage of it allowing both he and her the ability to walk through the door and sweep their guns around the room.
She had no desire to be dealing with these guys, she was silent, knowing what was growing on her mind.
"You, ok?" Tenn asked as South nodded before she seemed to yawn. "Heh, I hear that… You exhausted like me?" Tenn asked.
"You know we guys can hear you, right? You guys want to do something dirty, at least turn your radio off." Tenn heard before South rolled her eyes.
"Yeah, we're getting right on that, jackass," South stated before she sighed.
Tenn seemed to be dealing with it for now. He sighed as he rolled his eyes, knowing what was growing in his brain before she sighed.
Tenn hummed before she relaxed and then let it all come down to it as she paused to try and deal with it for now. Tenn was interested in the next move as they slowly stomped forward.
"I hate this, I hate this so much," Tenn muttered before he sighed to himself. "Perhaps we can get a better way to think," Tenn stated before he sighed.
Tenn hummed and let South through the hatch. She did not know what was growing on her mind before it came down to something like that.
She had zero real clue, zero idea of the next move to make, only once did she relax, knowing the best portion of things was to come later. She had zero idea of what would come, zero idea for now.
South seemed to be dealing with it for now as she paused to try and deal with it for now as she thought of it as she clicked her fingers before she seemed to be ready to let herself think of it as best, she could.
She had so much to try and deal with that it hurt which was enough for her either blasted way. She had to let it all end either way.
Both soldiers slowly and surely seemed to make certain they were ready for it to the end, there was something else on the brain, something that needed to be done.
South and Tenn swept their weapons around the room. There was something here, chaos upon the brain before now which needed to crash and burn to the end.
The two stood back-to-back, knowing what was going on either blasted way at the end of it.
"We're in the ship, everyone ready?" Tenn asked as they paused. "This is going to suck, isn't it? This entire thing sucks." He stated.
Tenn was silent as South raised her rifle, they slowly moved inside like a shadow creeping over the land. Perhaps some part of it was infecting it was something that he could deal with for now.
"The deeper we get inside? The deeper they were going to fight to get rid of us… We both know what happens if they get their hands on the Mother of Invention." Tenn heard.
"We're screwed. We know. The longer this goes on? the more screwed we are. That it? Because this fight is going to make it harder to deal with." Tenn stated with a sigh.
He knew damn well what the stakes were to this sort of thing when all was over. Did they fail? People died and if they won? Bad people died. Either damn way? People died, it was only the way and who died in the way of it.
To be fair? They had a very strong and very long goal in time to be dealt with for now at the end of the day.
He sighed to himself, knowing what would come next, all such ideas would become harder and harder with it all going more and with it all being said and done.
There was something else on the brain and something that could not be dealt with for now and for good reason. He had a lot more to this at the end of the day, knowing what would become of it so much.
They crawled through the next door, only pausing to try and figure out what the next move would be all said and done before they heard the door click open before them.
The two soldiers sighed, knowing something was going on, it was harder and harder to figure out. This was a lot more to their little game and a lot more to their fight either way.
A groan was awaiting them before they fired, turning another soldier behind the door into Swiss cheese, letting them fall through the door and slam into the ground. South turned to Tenn and beckoned him through the door which he did as he sighed and then figured out it.
They had a very long and very hard job ahead of them but could not have allowed it otherwise.
Such was hard enough as it was to coordinate, to begin with for now and for good at the end of this all. It would end, one way or another. There was a matter of what was going on for now as he clicked his fingers before he sighed.
This was funnier when they were back before now. They all swept up their weapons, slowly moving ahead as he clicked his fingers, there was a single moment of amusement for now.
South hummed to look to the side, knowing what was going on before it came crashing down.
There were a lot of things to deal with for now. All of it was going to be dealt with for now either way, the only problem was how much violence it would take.
"So… Got any real plans when this is over for now?" Tenn asked before he paused to think for but a moment.
"I don't know, you plan on dying anytime soon?" South asked.
"Not really, why? You think we are that screwed?" Tenn asked as he paused, thinking for a moment of anger.
He did not think it was going to be something as South swept her rifle through the next door, pausing to shoot down a pair of soldiers as they came through the door. She and Tenn paused, knowing that damn well anything in the section ahead of them would be enough to cut them down. it could be anything from that to a missing trap.
Still? They were soldiers. They fought this often, they fought a lot of damn things, to begin with it now and it would not at all control for now.
They just did not know what was going on at the end of the day before now, this just seemed to be pushing them further and further as she and he paused to look to the side.
"You, ok?" South asked as she and Tenn rounded the corner.
"No, should I be? We are going to be fighting a damn army and I do not know what is going to happen if we do not beat these guys." Tenn stated before he sighed.
He knew damn well that whatever it was? it would not be very good now.
They ducked into another corridor as another platoon of rebels marched by ahead, the clack of boots being the sounds they heard as both realized there was a small army of these soldiers on the ship and all of them were as capable of killing them as ever.
It would not surprise them if they had to fight the entire damn army, mainly because it meant they would be getting closer and closer to the threat, and where they had to put the bomb down on their enemies.
That and that alone was what bugged them at the end of the day. they had gone through plenty of this crap, for now, another second of it.
That bothered them as much as it could have, knowing they would be fighting and killing an army, it was enough to drive them insane at the end of the day, either damn way? They would end this and end it good and right.
There were a lot of problems that he seemed to be dealing with for now as he seemed to try and figure it out once more. There was something else that he could not allow for now.
He had been too interested in what was going on…. Not once would be done, nor would continue it for now at the next.
There was a lot more to it when it came down to it when all he could do was scream now. South and Tenn both shared a look at one another as they paused to try and figure it out once again.
He had been too interested in what needed to be done and it was going to be something now, there was more here to be relaxed.
He was too bored either way and he looked to South as they gunned down another pair of rebels. They put their backs on each other, looking at each other when it seemed to be over.
Both South and Tenn seemed to be thinking of what was growing more and more on their minds.
"Tired?" Tenn asked before South hummed and looked to the side.
"I am tired… But I am also ready to get the hell out of this ship right now." Tenn muttered before she looked to South as they slowly walked through the ship.
Both Tenn and South seemed to be interested in the next goal, they wanted to be quiet and knew what was going on. South hummed and looked at Tenn as both circled the corner.
She was quiet, she did not know what the next move was and she did not wish to relax. She looked over at Tenn before he sighed and brought up his weapon.
Tenn hummed and tapped her shoulder as both took up points on both ends of the door. They were quiet now for a good reason… But they hated it to the end of the day.
South hummed to herself and she thought of it when it was all over at this second.
She sighed and then clicked her fingers and then snapped them in a motion like pointing.
South frowned and she looked at Tenn one last time as they waited and then questioned what was to occur next for now.
Tenn racked his shotgun and then paused to glance down at the ground, knowing what was going on now, both were ready. They needed a moment to be silent and a moment to get into the zone before it was all over.
Another breath and they were already where they needed to go and get on with their mission before long when this seemed over, that and that alone drove them at the very second.
Whatever came after that was going to be difficult… But not insanely hard to figure out.
"Let us go." Tenn joked as South snorted as she sighed to herself once again with effort.
She knew him well enough but she did not know every single second of his ideas and she did not know how Tenn worked on a small but spirited level, she just did not have the grasp of the scope he held here.
There was something about their fight as they slowly paraded through the ship and he paused to try and figure out a plan.
He had a lot more to try and figure out.
Both looked at each other before she looked to the side. There was something else to deal with, something chaotic to the top.
"North? Tell me you have done something?" South stated before she paused, tiring of it for now and for a good reason.
She knew all of them would be in the thick of it. she was not stupid when it came to soldiers and them, they were at war and fighting an entire army when it came down to it.
She was something curious, something fascinated for now and she paused to try and figure out where they were and what to do.
To be fair? Both knew a single misstep was going to be costly. They were on an enemy ship and the more problems they caused? The more security that they had to fight, it was going to be a battle either way but if they killed all the soldiers now or later was up to them.
There were a lot of things before he looked at her, watching as she paused to glance at her before she seemed to think of it when it came to it.
She and he both looked at one another as she paused to try and fight… Both raised their weapons at the first chance of fighting.
There was more gunfire coming from down the hallway. She and he both looked at one another.
"Let's kill them," South stated before she paused to look at Tenn who was silent.
"Sure…. Just remember, we must be quiet when it comes down to it as of now, there are a lot of these guys to take down." Tenn stated as he sighed and then looked to the side, angry and annoyed, angry, and unable to do more than look at her.
She was tired and she wished not to be, he was tired and unable to come up with a damn plan because of his exhaustion when it came down to it as she paused to try. She did not know what would come next to it.
She was a lot more than this and it was clear this idea was bothering them for now as she looked to the side as she paused.
She knew he would and could have problems with it, she knew he was trying to rack his brain for ideas. She? She was fine just taking them down left and right; she would be able to relax knowing plenty of criminals were down for the count.
All it would cost would be bullets and their lives. South was tired, too tired as he paused to let it end for now as he clicked it into place.
South was too distracted; she did not know what was growing beyond his mind. He did not know what was happening with the others, not wishing to fight and to fight and kill all too soon.
South was too eager to try and fight unlike Tenn as he clicked his fingers and hummed before he looked into the sky.
Tenn sighed and turned the corner as did she, both turned to look at each other and then glanced at one another.
South wished to fight, she wished to kill and she did not want to let them kill a single soldier of the Freelancers.
Tenn thought of what the others were doing, what was the goal here now, he did not at all know if they were okay and he did not think he would have done it, not knowing when it came down to it as now.
Tenn? Tenn wished to go through the facet of fighting, of properly acting when it came down the line. However? He would not throw his life away just because he felt he did not need to.
To be fair? Such a thing was going to be for another talk, for another invasion as of now.
He had been too eager to try and fight through it. He held it to be done and dusted, he held too much in response as they rounded a corner.
There was more gunfire, and both Tenn and South continued to fight, to cut through the enemy. They held too much in check, they would always hold the truth.
"There are more of them. Their power cores? That is what we are looking for if we cannot take down the bridge." Tenn stated. "More soldiers are coming to try and hunt us down," Tenn stated before he sighed to himself.
"Then we kill them, it just takes more and more time." Tenn heard from South.
"We have work to do before we get through the next part of the ship, South. There is more combat to overcome before we are there." Tenn stated before he sighed and then looked to South.
She knew more and more with each little battle that there was more to the battle. Tenn was trying to think, she was too eager to try and fight and Tenn just wanted to figure out a way to try and decide on it sooner or later.
Tenn was too eager to let it end now, to let him decide it while he clicked his fingers and then paused, letting it all come down the line.
Tenn sighed and then thought of himself, too understanding what was growing for now and for good reason.
This was going to be hard to end for now. South seemed to be pushing towards another moment as he clicked it into place.
Tenn seemed to be thrown to the side once more as of now, he had been tired as he paused to wish to relax and he seemed to keep growing more as he came down to it.
He had been eager to fight but for a different reason than South… This woman was… Something else, something far beyond what had transpired and what was going on, they held a LOT of different answers as to what it was.
South and he turned another corner and heard more screams and gunfire. Both brought up their weapons, eager to fight but not eager to fight an entire army of villains… They could tell they were outmatched and for good reason.
"Why send some of us to take care of an entire ship rather than just bomb it?" South asked and Tenn knew more and more why.
Even at full power, the Mother of Invention was no march for a rebel ship. Why? Because it was a frigate, it was a base more than a warship.
They could lash out, and attack here and there but the ship was more a troop transport than an actual warship. To forget that was foolish and to believe they were beyond such a thing was beyond foolish.
He held no real answers, nothing he could say or do would change that, why? Simple, it was this and this alone which carried them through such a thing. Such victories were small and fleeting, crushed by further ones.
If they fought? They died and if they did not? They would be crushed by those who had none of this mercy.
Tenn was quiet, very quiet, glancing at South a few seconds later. She returned it as both passed into the corridor, watching what had to be a few dozen rebels passing them all by.
It was clear they held more troops than either had envisioned and it was clear such a force was too much to have shown their fangs yet.
Such about it was odd… Very odd now and for good reason, so much had been done to stymie them and so much had yet not been revealed.
South and he shared another look before he spoke.
"We are going to need more help if we get cornered," South stated.
"Maybe," Tenn stated before he sighed.
Tenn sighed as he realized this entire mission from the get-go was to be hard to figure out. Each step they took towards winning it meant another step towards getting it done.
Yes, it seemed that Tenn was in a bit of a pickle and it felt odd he would see it in such a fashion, very odd now.
All of it was too much for the Freelancers, too much for people who had spent their lives in combat so long they wanted to break it into pieces, break it entirely down.
For now? He focused entirely on wanting to end it now and for a good reason at this very moment in time.
South and he both shared looks, neither willing to admit that something was very off about it.
Something about it all came to look different as they thought of what was going on, thinking of what had been happening.
He and she both knew the Rebels were going to find them sooner or later.
"You know the longer we stick around here? The sooner they are going to find us, right? They are not that stupid." South heard as she snorted.
"Talking about the same guys?" Tenn heard.
"More or less. They are stupid but they are not that stupid." Halius stated before he hummed.
South went to say something but came up with very little as she knew there was more to do now.
She had been eager to figure it out sooner or later. There was very little to nothing that would have made sense from that, only knowing what could have been allowed to deal with for now as he clicked his fingers.
They snuck around the corner, gunfire more frequent below them… It was clear such a ship was well guarded but they lacked the numbers.
South was silent, she had been eager to figure something out as she paused to let it come crashing down.
"Tenn, we need to go down a floor," South stated.
"Yeah, well I don't see an elevator and I don't think asking nicely is such a good idea," Tenn stated before he crossed his arms.
South chuckled despite herself, knowing that Tenn was all too easily trying to remedy a situation for now.
He had been too eager for now as walked around the floor, if they wanted. Yes, they could crash through the rebels like a freight train but that would both kill the idea they needed stealth and put dozens more soldiers on alert.
"Screw it…" Tenn said before he put his hand to his radio. "York? Me and South are lost on our level, you got any idea where to go without alerting the entire ship?" Tenn asked as he raised an eyebrow.
"There's a freight elevator at the end of the corridor… Might be a problem though, most of the rebels are in the hangar… Maine is having a field day with them right now." Tenn heard.
"Yeah, well? We have work to do and Maine can play with those bad guys… Thanks, York. You having a good time on your end?" Tenn asked.
South followed as both seemed to rush towards where they had to go. They had a lot to do and too much time to deal with for now, it was going to be dealt with for now.
All of it was disturbing to them, they had a lot more to deal with for now when it came down to it when it was all said and done.
They slowly started to walk towards the rest of the room, too interested in what he would be able to try and relax. She and he were both silent as of now… She did not know what was growing now at the end of the day…. It would become harder and harder.
She and he were both tired, too exhausted, for now, she had been too eager to it.
South looked at Tenn as they rounded the corner, it was fun when it was all decided. South clicked on the wall, pausing to recheck her rifle, ready for work.
South looked at Tenn as both stayed silent, she and he knew the plan.
"So, was your plan just to kill everyone between us and the objective?" Tenn asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Did you have a better idea?" South asked.
"Get to the objective? The more patrols they send, the more we get pinned down. We get pinned down; we risk losing the objective… If we lose the objective? We lose any chance of getting something done then we either die or go home empty-handed." South heard as she hummed.
That would lead to them not getting what they wanted…. The entire time? They would be risking what they had for NOTHING which was worst case scenario.
He had ZERO idea of it then and he would remain thinking little of it then… What they wanted was irrelevant to what they NEEDED to have done. That and that alone would not be well suited to getting anything done now at the end of the day.
All of it was harder, much harder now.
The elevator slowly began to descend with them into the bowels of the factory, and then? And only then? Would they do so?
They had a job to do. Now? They planned to do it…. And anything in the way is DAMNED.
Both brought up their weapons, pausing to think of it now and for good reason…. If they faltered? Not once would it have been done when it came crashing down.
He was eager to think, to act as he crashed it into the end of the time being. She had been eager to think of it now and for good reason.
She had been too interested in what was growing for now.
Author Notes
Phew. Another chapter is done! I want to point out that the next chapter will be 900-6500 words and will be in 2-10 months and will be showing more of both South and Tenn fighting and taking out rebels left and right. Until then, Lighting Wolf is out!
