(Spirit's Song: https/youtu.be/YyV2k8Almuk?si=GJbq51yGL81ofCy_)
Spirit stretched her wings as she got up, yawning wide she glanced at the schedule to make sure she remembered where to go. Seems they started with time in the music cave, which was fine with her, she had been writing a song so finally got the chance to practice with it. She walked off, being sure to not wake her two sleeping classmates as she headed for the cave. Humming to herself as she arrived, she began to put the drums together to practice her song. (Play song if you don't know it)
"I-I-I got this feeling, yeah, you know
Where I'm losing all control
'Cause there's magic in my bones
I-I-I got this feeling in my soul
Go ahead and throw your stones
'Cause there's magic in my bones"
Spirit sang while playing the drums to the beat she had going on in her head. Jumping when she heard Cactus, her classmate, bark an accusation at her. "Magic in your bones? What are you an animus or something?" He snarled at her, looking at her with narrow eyes. "What? No!" Spirit said with a frown, "I am not an animus, if I was I would have reported that to my queens." She said, rolling her eyes, irritated that her practice had been interrupted.
"Uh-huh" Cactus said, not believing her. "And what are those runes all over your body for huh?" He asked her. "I don't know! I hatched with them. How should I know what they are for?" She asked, she wouldn't show it but she was already trying to find a way to get him off of her runes. She knew what they represented so she had to be careful not to reveal it, because it would reveal her power as well.
Cactus raised his tail into a striking position. "I don't believe you." He spat before leaving, writing a letter to queen Thorn about a potential animus or animus touched dragon. Hoping she would get back to him soon. Animuses have had a bad rap as of late, especially what happened with Darkstalker, Anemone coming forwards to reveal what her mother forced her to do, and how magic was used to imprison Foeslayer.
Spirit sighed, knowing this wasn't the last she had heard of this. She just had to hope that no one figured it out. She continued to play the drums, her tail hitting a massive drum behind her as her front talons hit many different ones in front of her. She noticed others coming in and playing instruments from the guitar to flute to even a xylophone.
She laughed as they all got into sync, playing together to make some good music. She noticed Alligator walking close. "Care to dance?" He asked her, offering a talon to her. Spirit blushed slightly and took his talon, being pulled into the center of the room as she began to dance with Alligator, giggling as Mindreader began to play on the drum in her absence.
Cactus grumbled as he saw the messenger leave with his letter to Queen Thorn. He would get to the bottom of this, one way or another. Once their music cave time was finished however they headed to Clay's Health class. "Hey," Cactus snarled at her. "I've been speaking around, many others are also wondering about you. Good luck getting to live normally now." He chuckled and went to sit down, preparing for Clay's lesson.
'Oh great.' Spirit rolled her eyes as she thought about how much more complicated her life just got. It was one thing to hide a power, it was another thing to hide it and be asked questions about it constantly. Although she didn't think it would matter how many times they asked about animus magic. After all she WASN'T an animus, she didn't have the ability to enchant dragons. In fact she couldn't affect any living creature directly with her power.
She could manipulate many things but no living creatures. So she didn't worry about it too much, she hoped at least. These fears would prove true when she was pulled out of class by Tsunami. "Is something wrong?" Spirit asked her, sitting down in front of Tsunami's desk in her office.
"I've been hearing rumors you possibly have animus magic." She said, folding her talons on her desk. "Now I know you are very by the book so I have no doubt you would have informed the queens. However as head of the school it's my job to make sure the students are safe. So, we have a test for you to do." She pulled out a bone from a desk drawer.
Spirit sighed. "I'm not an animus." She said, picking up the bone she said. "I enchant this bone to explode into dust." And unsurprisingly nothing happened. Tsunami nodded and took the bone from her, placing it back into her desk. "Thank you, I do hope you know that it isn't personal. Just my job." Tsunami said with a small smile.
Spirit sighed but nodded. "I know. But I have a feeling that I won't be suddenly left alone either." She said walking back to her class. On the way, though, she noticed Thorns royal guard talking to Sunny. 'Oh great!' Spirit rolled her eyes as she headed to class. 'Now I get to be interrogated by the queens. How love-' her train of thought was cut off by Sunny grabbing her shoulder. "Spirit, this came for you. The Guard said you aren't to open it until you are alone with no one to read it. And that you are to burn it once you have it memorized."
Spirit takes the scroll with a puzzled look. "Uh…. ok…" She said hesitantly. "I'm not being executed am I?" Spirit asked. "Of course not!" Sunny said, batting the back of her head. "It must be some sort of experiment you had that caught wind of the Queens who find it interesting is all." Sunny said, looking at the positive side of things like normal. "Just behave yourself." Sunny warned, hugging her adopted niece. "What? ME?? Not behaving?" Spirit said with a mock look of horror. Before laughing and heading to the glass, hiding the scroll within her pouch.
What Spirit wasn't aware of? Her parents had decided to inform the queens of her powers. The very thing Spirit had wanted to do from the beginning. And now she would finally get the opportunity to explain everything to the Queens of Pyrrhia. The only thing is, would any of the queens believe her, and would they want to run experiments on her?
